Montse and her best friend Jimena set out on a twenty-four hour chase through the streets of Spain to unravel a mystery tied to Francisco de Goya’s art and the terrors of the Spanish Inquisition. Along the way, they will need to avoid the grasp of La Garduña, a shadowy Spanish mafia. It’s a race against time as the two best friends fight to save the world from a deadly secret. Journey through the iconic sites of Seville and Madrid in this young adult thriller written for intermediate Spanish students. Benefits to reading Los ojos de Goya to learn Spanish
If one is willing to use non-authentic resources in the classroom, I recommend this book (esp. for those teaching about Spanish artists, particularly Goya and Velazquez). Well-written, if a little melodramatic and silly. As always with this type of book, the criteria for what ends up glossed on the page seems random, but there were relatively few words not in the glossary at the back. Nice illustrations.
It's my professors book, I have to rate it five stars. However, it was a good learning tool and that helped me prep for my next year class. Thanks profe!
