This book contains explicit physical and sexual abuse and incest, which some readers may find disturbing.
Hirohito Tanaka has tried to keep his Grandfather’s teachings and heritage alive his entire life. He’s a silent warrior, his humility something others aspire to. The arrival of Winter Cole makes Hiro want to protect the woman he doesn’t even know. Her curtain of dark hair, always covering her face, hiding her from the world around her, doesn’t deter him. Hiro only knows bits and pieces of what brought her to their doorstep, but it’s enough to make him do something drastic to ensure her safety. Even if it means giving up his own life.
Winter Cole isn’t her real name. She has no idea what her name is, only that she’s escaped her eighteen-year hell from the worst bike gang on the west coast. The Los Muertos made sure that her life was barely worth living. Their physical, sexual, and emotional abuse had killed dozens of women before her, but when she got her chance, Winter ran. Years later, she finds herself in the company of the REAPER-Patriots family, but has no clue how fortunate she really is. When she sees the beautiful man with the dark hair and eyes walking toward her, she knows she is about to find out. Discovering her true story, may be the worst abuse of all.
Thank you for reading my bio and my books! I live and work in Dallas, TX. I'm the mother of two amazing daughters and two fantastic, intelligent grandsons, with one more on the way, and a wonderful son-in-law. I love to cook, travel, and write, but I'm also an avid reader. Being from a military family, my books often center around strong, military men but I also LOVE strong, independent, intelligent women. Reading Mary Kennedy series on RP from the beginning you can see how she brings each character yo life, making you visually see them with her words. From the start RP men from the original members,to their sons, daughters and men they brought in bring you laughter, tears and always cheering for the team. Their wives also big part of the team.
When Winter was first introduced to us I knew her story would break my heart. Hiro was going to be a favorite.
When Winter came to RP she was so broken. Hiro worked his magic and a long with all the family she started to started to trust. How one person endure so much pain since the day she was born will break anyone .
This story will make you cry because has strong has these men and women are Winter's story, her pain make them cry and protecting is number one. A great story with the best HEA ever.
The romance just happened too fast for me. I thought about how she was raised and that was so extreme a short amount of time to heal/assimilate from her childhood regarding men or life in general.
My grandmother was abused as a child. With her children becoming Christians it helped to break a cycle for the next generations but grandma did not know how to fully show love and my own mother struggles as a result. My grandma was only abused when her step mother was in the picture....many visits to aunt's and uncles kept her away from step-mother. She married a much older man and had five kids....back in 1930's. I asked older relatives why? They said that they minded their own business and no social programs to help.
No, Winter would not of gotten over in her lifetime, let along a few weeks.
I appreciate the justice aspect of the story and the special services. I believe Epstein was probably the classy sex trafficker and that there are people just as described in the book, right in our country and all over the world.
I just needed to explain that Winter not only was abused from birth (mentally) and sexually she should be totally broken. It can't be made to look as if a few hugs cleared her mind. I can't believe her health would be adequate after raised naked in a cage ....no dental care....see, author glammed up.
So, only three stars because of the justice. My first time reading Mary Kennedy.
There was something about Hiro that made me want to know more about him when he first showed up, then you throw in Winter and I knew this one would be good. It was hard to read at times as we learned about Winter's past, which was so bad. That is saying something as many of these women have had bad past, but this one...oh man.
It was great to see Winter come out of her shell, for her to realize she could do what she wanted, have what she wanted, that what happened to her didn't define her. And while she discovered that Hiro was by her side. And while things were tough with Winter, it was tough for a man like Hiro to have to listen and not do anything, but just be there.
Hiro made some decisions that were a bit out of the box, that everyone wanted to talk him out of, but he stuck by what he thought was good and right and it was.
It was fun to see the guys out on a mission, having fun themselves as they took care of business and got rid of the bad guys and saved as many women as they could. I looked forward to the "ultimate" bad guys getting theirs and they did, by the perfect person, who had the perfect person by their side.
The boat parade was the best way to end this one and you know Hiro and Winter will be happy for years to come.
I read all of Mary Kennedy's books as they come out and I love them. Hiro is my favorite. I was anticipating this book with all the nuggets of information about Winter and Hiro in the last one. Mary did not disappoint.
Hiro has patience which is exactly what Winter needs after all she has gone through. His patience and understanding allow Winter to move past her trauma and begin to bloom.
Hiro will make you cry, laugh and have your heart singing with the love of a found family. A definite 5 star read. Trigger warnings are listed at the beginning of the book. Winter's life up until REAPER-Patriots has been dark.
I chose this rating because this was a very interesting book. I enjoyed most all of the characters. This was a book on compassion, patience, kindness, redemption, and falling in love. I love Hiro and Winter story. They made a very interesting couple. The author did an amazing job putting this couple together. They really balanced each other out. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I have been waiting for Hiro's book since he was introduced and Mary Kennedy did not disappoint!! Winters story was soul wrenching and its entirely heartbreaking to know that there is this kind of depravity on the world. However there are also men like the RPs!!! Cannot wait to see what happens next!!
Hiro in my opinion is the best yet! It breaks you and then slowly puts you back together just like Hiro did for Winter. Winter was afraid of everything with good reason and Hiro uses patience and love to put her back together. I so totally recommend this book along with all Mary Kennedy books.
This book has a great storyline, it's well written, with amazing characters. I have loved Hiro in the last few books. It was good seeing his relationship with Winter grow and develop into a loving relationship. It was hard reading about the extent of the abuse that Winter lived through. It's a great story about strength, survival, and love.
This book tore at my heart I cried I laughed I cheered it was absolutely without a doubt one of my top five books of all times. The way this author can relate to so many different people when such a different level is absolutely astounding. I am impatiently awaiting the next one as usual she is always my one click author.
There is not one book Mary Kennedy has written that hasn't been 5 stars. Prolific writer with a way of bringing her characters to life. There hasn't been one villain that I've wanted to take out myself. Lol She makes you fall in love with the people of Bell Flure and want to protect them. Not many writers have that ability.
This was one of the best books I've read this year. Hiro was so patient and kind. I felt like he would be to the one to draw Winter out. Her story was so sad and the scene in the cafeteria was heart breaking. I knew there was more to him. Loved how he would sneak up on the guys. Both of these characters spoke to me.
I just had to change the headline on my reviews for Ms Kennedy's books! I have gone from loving it, to now "bravo". She is so inspiring and so talented! As an avid book lover and reader since I was 10 years old,I can appreciate any author known or unknown, that can bring out the human emotion and Ms Kennedy does it beautifully👋👋💖
THIS BOOK...has me in my feelings the ENTIRE TIME! It was raw, emotional, gut-wrentching, and finally ...victorious. Mary, you created a character in Winter that EVERYONE WOULD CHEER FOR!!! And heros in Hero and Ghost that should be model for men. And...gotta love Mama Irene....Champion of All!!! Whew!!
Simplemente woww! Lloré, reí y volví a llorar. Que historia de vida, de valentía. El amor con el que Hiro trata a Winter, y la paciencia que le tiene es sublime. Mary kennedy sos mi héroe! Ahora toca esperar a Dom👏👏👏
I love all of these books, but this one has a special place in my heart. It was sad, victorious and simply romance at it's best. Hiro is my hero. Everyone would be blessed to have him in their lives. I don't know the last time I've cried and felt such hope after a book.
I have read the hole series. I think this one in the the top 5. The research in this story is so good. But more than that, even with evil side of humanity that is shown, the overwhelming feeling I have after reading it is HOPE. Mary Kennedy you get better and better.
This one i knew was going to be incredible and i was right not only did it make me laugh, cry and cheer i felt like i was riding a emotional roller coaster and that is the making of a great book.
Really enjoyed this chapter in the series.. It was heart wrenching at times with Winters past ,but seeing Hiro help her and them fall in love was amazing. Oh and Hiro has some secrets besides being a "Trak" shadow😉
