Is life a game of chance—or a wild ride with a piglet, a movie star, and one unforgettable small-town romance?
From Amazon bestselling author Heather Grace Stewart comes a spicy enemies-to-lovers romcom that’ll make you laugh, swoon, and believe in second chances.
Dylan Douglas can't catch a break—she’s broke, jobless, and has a pyromaniac roommate. Things hit rock bottom when a piglet leaps in front of her car… and she’s rear-ended by none other than Hollywood’s hottest actor, Mason Ellis.
She never expected that piglet to change her life.
Suddenly, Dylan’s starring in a film opposite the very man who left her on the side of the road. She’s got a trailer, a new wardrobe, and a growing crush she has no business entertaining. But Mason isn’t just a pretty face—he’s trying to outrun his past, and falling for Dylan was never part of the plan.
But when sparks fly on and off set, will they bet it all—or fold under the pressure?
Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emily Henry, this feel-good romcom will leave you grinning and rooting for love (and pigs) to win.
Picture this: an eight-year-old freckle-faced blonde girl, perched in a rickety treehouse, surrounded by a fortress of Archie comics and armed with a bag of Jujubes. That's where the writing bug bit me, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride ever since.
Fast forward to my drama class days, where I ran lines with none other than a young Matthew Perry—yes, Chandler Bing himself. Could I be any luckier?
But wait, there's more! I even auditioned for a musical alongside Alanis Morissette, the powerhouse behind "You Oughta Know." Spoiler alert: She got the gig. Apparently, the universe decided my destiny was more "pen to paper" than "jazz hands on stage."
That path led me to Queen’s University and Concordia for Journalism, 24 published books, reaching over 400K readers worldwide, and one novel (The Ticket) that was optioned for film—and is now available again, ready for its next big adventure on screen.
I’ve also survived cruel 1-star reviews (with only minor emotional scarring), raised a kind kid who likes me (most days), and lived with another human for 27 years without turning us into characters in 911: Montreal.
But let’s be real. What matters most here is what I can offer you. That’s simple: I’m here to be your literary escape hatch from the daily grind. When Netflix has betrayed you with its "Are you still watching?" judgment, and your phone is just one scroll away from being practically grafted to your fingers, that’s where my books come in.
My mission is to make you laugh so hard you snort, cry just enough to release that pent-up emotion from your awkward ex-partner encounter at the corner store, and love the story so much you can’t help but text your bestie at 2 AM saying, “OMG, you have to read this!”
Whether you're into my romcoms, time-travel romances, screenplays, or poetry that's "for people who don’t think they like poetry" (their words, not mine), welcome to my world of words.
Oh—and if you prefer listening to your love stories while folding laundry, dodging traffic, or pretending to work out, my books are also available in audiobook format from Tantor Audio, a division of Recorded Books.
Fun fact: I’m a tenth cousin of Emily Dickinson. So yes, the em dashes are ancestral flair—and the poetry obsession might be too.
You can find me on Instagram, Threads, or my Facebook Author Page, where I'm probably inline skating, dancing with oven mittens, or trying to convince one of my cats to do my marketing for me. Drop by and say hi! Just don’t ask me to audition for anything. Unless it’s for “woman juggling dinner, a manuscript, and a strawberry yogurt face mask”—I’ve got that one nailed.
So. You know how you have a bad day and you need a good giggle with some yummy romance and sexy fun time? This book is just what the doctor ordered. And it’d be prescription only too. In the first scene make sure you are fully visualizing what’s happening because it’s the stuff of Lucille Ball … if Lucy were a single gal in the 21st century on basic cable. I’m just saying lube was never so hilarious. Then there’s the insane roommate along with a cast of characters that are too real to be in a book because I swear they could be my neighbors. The meet cute was ridiculously hilarious. And the swoonworthy sexy fun times. Uuugh. But my favorite thing was the piglet. He was certainly the pig of destiny.
Dylan Douglas, who considers herself an unlucky person, is late to an audition when a pig flies from a truck straight at her car. The person she saves the piglet with is actor Mason Ellis. Now, she is now a lead in a movie and has made some friends including Mason’s family. It seems her luck is changing, but as she starts falling for Mason, and he for her will they be able to stay away from each other?
What a light-hearted story. I Love Dylan’s character and personality. It was so nice seeing her. Grow so much in the amount of time that we had reading this character. The supporting characters were all really great for the story and we got to know them quite well through the book.
The romance between Mason and Dylan was funny and playful and really fun to read about. We go through a lot with their relationship even though the book isn’t very long. I got hooked on the story quite quickly and stay hooked throughout which really helped on making a great connection with the story and characters.
This a great light small-town romance read to relax to. For readers. It is a fun story for both beginners and long-time lovers of romance novels.
Lucky: The Perfect Small Town, Christmas Romantic Comedy (Love Again Series Book 4) my fourth highly-enjoyable read from author Heather Grace Stewart, the fourth in her Love Again series. I've been adding her books to my library since January of 2017 yet never getting one read until these four, I now own 8 of them. I got this one in February of 2024 and waited to read it until I'd read Lauren from Last Night: (Love Again Series Book 3), *spoiler*(some of Lauren's characters make an appearance in this work). “I received a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Her captivating style of switching between first person woman to first person man works! The author reached out after reading my my two reviews and told me "don’t read Lucky, which is number four, before you read Lauren from Last Night"' So I took the experts advice and did so. I look forward to reading more from this author with The Friends I've Never Met: Feel-Good Heartwarming Romantic Comedy Screenplay (Heather Grace Stewart's Romantic Comedies) just added to my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.
A chance meeting on the highway when a piglet jumps from a truck and Dylan swerved to avoid hitting it and is rear ended by the car behind her. Turns out the driver is a famous movie star and in the movie she was on her way to audition for. He arranges for a car for her to take the piglet to a vet and thus the beginning of a romance starts to take hold. Trying to keep their feelings from others on the set get complicated when they both work to provide a new place for her friends wedding. Interference from the media descend and Dylan believes the media and not Mason. Later she finds out who was behind the whole thing but thinks she’s never going to see Mason again until he shows up.
I enjoyed this romantic story which once again begs to the characters to not believe what the media says and trust your heart instead! I heartily recommend this story as one you will love as much as I did!
True love seems to not run smooth but it does win out in the end!
Lucky was a fantastic read that was chaotically hilarious from the start. I fully understood Dylan's frustration as she fought to survive the unlucky streak that plagued her. Several people tried to point out her weaknesses and give pointers to "improve" her life. I love that Mason was the one to crash in and affirm that she didn't need to change a thing. There was still a bumpy journey for them but it was great being along for the ride. I didn't want this book to end. Yet, I finished it in two days.
In this series, I've been impressed with how Heather Grace Stewart handled serious issues in a straightforward manner. There is no glossing over anything. It is simply realistic explorations of what people face but with an optimistic outlook. These stories prove that nothing has to be considered a waste when you learn from your experiences.
The wedding of Dylan's friend was the best surprise. I won't spoil it but I didn't know how much I needed it. Everyone being present to celebrate was oh so perfect. I was smiling the whole time.
You'll be satisfied if you like a romcom with quirky and loveable characters who end up much happier forever after.
Lucky is a really cute, sweet and funny romance. I found myself chuckling, swooning and just feeling giddy. It was just really sweet and lighthearted, I needed that.
I thought Dylan and Mason together fit really well. Their relationship was fun, sexy, cute and sweet, it had it all. Their meet cute was hilarious. We go through a lot with them in these short pages. I also really liked the growth between both, I really got attached to both of them.
It hooked me right away and I finished in one sitting. It's a hug in a book and totally worth the read.
🎧 The narration by Gary Furlong & Parker Everly was great. They were so fantastic together. They had all the right intonations, emotions and feelings in their voice. I think the audio is really worth it !
✨️Thank you @heathergracestewart for my free audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
"We all wear masks; some are better at keeping them on than others."
Dylan's life is not what she planned. Out of work, recently fired, her new roommate is questionable. And then the flying piglet... . Mason is filming locally and there's that piglet that caused the accident where he met Dylan on his way to a film shoot...
Can they trust their attraction?
This book checked all my feel good boxes.Dylan and Mason meet in harrowing circumstances. Can they trust one another? I normally don't do the contemporary romance genre, but that piglet ... Highly Recommended 5/5

Reviewed in Australia on 4 November 2022 ‘Lucky’ is a fun read with Dylan providing some laugh out loud moments in her daily ventures. Plus her career and romantic states seem to cause untold trouble, but she provides us with great inspiration in her fearless endeavours to be brave. Well done to the author, Heather Grace Stewart, on a great read.
This is a fun read that starts with a pig jumping out of a transport truck! As she tries to avoid hitting the piglet, Dylan is rear ended by Mason, a famous Hollywood star. She’s on her way to an audition for a film with, you guessed it, Mason! As their feelings heat up, they examine whether it’s luck or determination that decides their future. Maybe it’s a little of both! Anyway, a quick read that manages to explore some deeper subjects as well.
I absolutely enjoyed the hilarious comedy in this well-written book. I turned on the screen reader and started my chores but this story was so funny I had to take a break and finish it. Fast-paced and funny is the only way to go!
This is a light hearted story. I really enjoyed the characters who kept me reading with enjoyment. I enjoy Heather Grace Stewart’s writing she takes you away from the daily stress.
Dylan doesn't seem to have much luck in life. Everything seems to go wrong for her and her accident involving a piglet and a movie star just reinforces this. In trying to rescue a baby pig that fell out of the back of a truck, Dylan gets involved in an accident with none other than Mason Ellis the Hollywood star. He leaves Dylan with the injured piglet, a wrecked car, a huge check and directions to a local vet. The vet turns out to be Mason's sister, the piglet turns out to be the second one that this has happened to, and Dylan turns out to be auditioning for Mason's new movie. When Dylan gets hired, will this be the lucky break that she has been looking for or will it lead to another unlucky disaster. Read this cute, quirky story to find out is Dylan can finally break her streak of bad luck and find her happily ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Heather Grace Stewart has written a gem of a Rom-Com, chock-full of zaniness that gives Lucky some extra zest! The story follows Dylan, struggling actress and loquacious lady, who (under kooky circumstances) runs headlong into Hollywood hottie Mason Ellis. From there, the role of Dylan’s dreams falls into her lap. The only catch is Mason Ellis is part of that dream role, and he’s off-limits. In addition to steamy sexual tension, there’s a farm, an adorable pig, new friends, family drama, and a bestie’s wedding to pull off!
Lucky is a feel-good story with a dreamy California setting that will get you through the winter months, (but would be a fun vacay read too!). If you’ve ever dreamed about meeting your favorite actor and getting swept off your feet, put Lucky on your TBR. And check out Heather’s backlist while you’re at it! You might’ve just found a new favorite rom-com author!
Lucky is a heartfelt and uplifting story by Heather Grace Stewart. With its blend of serendipity, charming characters, and meaningful relationships, this book is as cozy as it is inspiring. A feel-good romance that reminds readers to cherish life’s unexpected blessings.
Thank you Goodreads for the digital copy. This is my honest review.
The characters were imperfect and likable.
The book alternates between Dylan’s and Mason’s perspectives. Dylan believes she is unlucky but when a piglet flies off the truck in front of her she meets Mason and her luck starts to change.
This was the perfect book to curl up and get lost in after a long day. It was a feel good kind of romance book without too much spicy. The characters were imperfect and likable.
Another great story in this series. You will fall in love with Dylan and Mason the moment you meet them. This story will not disappoint and you won't want it to end. So Lucky to have stumbled across this wonderful book.
Another sweet romance from Canadian author Heather Grace Stewart. Though it was a tad steamier than book 1.
I loved the unwillingness for the two characters to get involved because they were starring in a film together, and I loved the behind the scenes movie story. And of course the Canadian content.
The conflict was not one that left me overly frustrated. It worked out in the end and it was a very easy read. Can't wait to get my hands on books 3 and 4 of the series (though they are totally able to be read as standalones).
Lucky is a great story about Dylan who has had very little luck in her life. But the day comes when she makes a decision that changes her state of mind. Dylan meets Mason after she almost ran over a piglet that fell off aa truck. And they called it Lucky. This is a story about getting to know who you are, about each other. The love that grows and finally finding the things that make you happy. A ood read I would recommend.
Quite a surprise. Was really surprised by this story. Starts with exploits and adventures of Dylan. Gets you hoping something good will happen for her. As the pages turn the tale twists and turns keep you reading as fast as you can.
What a fabulous and delicious romantic comedy! Dylan, an in-between-work actress with an unfortunate roommate and bad luck in a sauna, bumps into big-screen heartthrob Mason, and the two bond, kind of, over an escaped piglet and a country farm. Mason and Dylan’s story is full of swoon-worthy moments, laugh-out-loud incidents, and heat-up-the-room steaminess. They have great chemistry, and the attraction crackles between them, but of course, things are never as easy as you’d hoped they’d be. Mason has a troubled past and Dylan fights against her insecurities, making their relationship rocky at times. Heather Grace Stewart has an incredible knack for writing characters that are so real and down to earth you’d want them to be your best friends. She takes everyday incidents, finds the funny side of them, and make you howl with laughter. The romance is genuine, heartfelt, and engaging and makes you feel as if you’ve just experienced the love story of the century. Add in a piglet, a couple of horses, some burly firefighters, and a Wiccan altar, and you’ve got yourself a cracker of a story. I laughed, cried, grumbled, swooned, and rolled my eyes with every stumble, leap, and cartwheel the story made. It’s a page turner, and I didn’t come up for air until I’d read the last word. Jump on the rollercoaster of giggles, heartache, anger, grief, and true love. You won’t regret it.
Mason, well known actor, meets Dylan following an accident involving a piglet. Caro, his sister, is the local vet and relationships in his family home have been strained for some time. Recovering alcoholic. Dylan, wannabe actress, struggling money wise and lives with a loopy flatmate. Due to unfortunate circumstances she gets a role in Mason's film. Relationships are hard but even more so within the media and film world. Lies and secrets are gossip fodder and the needs to live with the untruthful headlines destroy things. Though the easy acceptance of the replacement of Dylan in the film and the media reports of a relationship with Baby seems a little trite.

This was a highly entertaining read. A romcom with lots of laughs and twists in the plot. The characters were relatable too. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked the idea, but after listening to about 30% of the book, I gave up.
I don’t feel as if the author is writing from experience. This book feels like someone who has not lived or had experience writing about something she’s read about and trying to put her own philosophy or spin on it. As a result, the characters felt like carbon copies.
