Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library.

We both loved how the edge of the book is arced like a rainbow. Each page gets bigger, so that the rainbow is made a bit from each page, and the pages are easy and enticing for kids to grab and turn.

Jack was instantly captivated by the pages and colors. He smiled wide as I introduced the colors and enthusiastically pointed to the objects for me to name them. He even said apple for the first time!

Yes! Finally an Eric Carle book that properly connects to the Hungry Caterpillar roots: a) learn about a category, this time colors, b) unique page cuts: the book is shaped like a rainbow, with increasingly large pages such that you can directly turn to your color page, and c) the caterpillar appears at the end...as a butterfly! I think the selected color objects on all pages are great, and each is labeled with their name.

Learn colors with The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and what's that? A RAINBOW!

Highlights: Multiple objects for each color.

Lowlights: Items are grouped together by the same color so you can't ask your little one to name the color of each individual object.

A book in the shape of a rainbow. A very hungry caterpillar learns colors. In the book you will find different colors, and things in that color. Children learn colors, and things in this color. At the end, is a beautiful rainbow, and a very hungry caterpillar in the shape of a butterfly.

Loved how the edge of the book is arced like a rainbow. Each page turn increased the page size with and with a new color. Great board book.
Paired beautifully with vibrant colorful illustrations.
