Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities Evaluates Dickens' themes of love and hate, revolution and sacrifice Analyzes plot and style in A Tale of Two Cities as a departure from Dickens' earlier novels Traces Carlyle's influence on Dickens
After enjoying "A Tale of Two Cities" so much, I decided to read the corresponding Cliffs Notes & Monarch Notes to get a little more insight into the story. Interestingly, each of these "summaries" presented surprisingly different insights. This Monarch Notes did a good job of rehashing the chapters in detail, and seemed especially good at recognizing fore-shadowing. The character analyses at the end were rather weak, but the Critical Commentary section was pretty good.
