A quiet living, slice of life LitRPG about farming.
Things have changed in Summer Shandy, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. For Jason Hunter it’s no different. His third year on the farm starts like any other. With an alarm and his starting actions. He’ll need to focus not just on the farm, but on his relationship.
Pacing for this volume was much slower than the others. I didnt expect a lot of action or really anything to crazy, but the story was pretty bland. Compared to the first two, this one doesn't live up to what I expected from this series. I love Tess and Jason. Them planning their wedding was the best part of the story. So many little hiccups and Mishaps. Unfortunately, thats the part I most enjoyed. Everything else fell flat. I will definitely continue the series because I truly love it. Its fun and relaxing with a lot of good humor and even better characters.
I really hoped this series would be more, but sadly it was a complete dud. The writing was uninspired, and that’s being generous. I tried sticking it out as long as I could, hoping to find SOMETHING/ANYTHING that might recommend it. Sadly, that didn’t happen, and I found this series to be little more than tedium on top of tedium. I DO NOT recommend this series.
Having said that, there remains the fact that the author has created a number of subsequent books. Either I have missed something significant, or this author simply doesn’t care that his work is crap. In either event, it’s up to you to decide if this series has merit or is a complete s***t show.
Audiobook: I enjoyed book 3 of the "Slow Living LitRPG (Sowing Season) series. Jason had to deal with farming issues and trouble with his family in this book. The story was delightful. I appreciated the LitRPG format and found the story as addicting as playing a game. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Ashlinn Romagnoli's narration was fine, and her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
I have read all ten of these casual farming: quiet living litrpg… so there is that. I wasn’t ejected from them. That said the flaws make so much of the whole I can’t remember the good. I read mostly on my kindle, which meant with each chapter starting with the date I could compare to the % left in the book and noticed that each season was exactly 25% of the book. To the point that some of the shorter chapters felt like they were just glued in to make the page count line up just so. It’s like listening to someone talk about their Facebook farming camp. There are no stakes, a reset to zero sucks but what can you do. I read a lot of fiction so I saw threads introduced that Never Pay Off but because they came up a couple of books earlier need to be brought up so that they can be left unresolved yet again. I don’t recommend, even for fans of gamelit, as the game is a Facebook click to farm X style game.
Jason is engaged! The wedding is one year away. Now it’s just a matter of getting ready for the wedding and getting some crops in the ground. The fence is strong, so there shouldn’t be any issues with pests right?
I’m absolutely loving this cozy litrpg. There are monsters, there are issues, but nothing seems too world shattering. I love all of the characters and the new characters are fantastic. That ending was just perfect! I’m really looking forward to reading the next one!
Book 3 is much the same as the previous two books. The story this time revolves (again) around the Juun bugs and finding a solution to them, a small mystery concerning the forgotten town of Winter Shandy, and Jason's upcoming nuptials with Tess.
His mother also shows up and throws a spanner in the works.
The editing as usual is bad, but at least it's been consistent all the way through. I think this is where I'm going to stop, assuming there is a fourth book. These are short, easy books to read, but too many details are glossed over IMO.
Jason starting a new life facing obstacles finding love in the village of Summer Shandy.
Jason Hunter faces challenges with the community of Summer Shandy with the corrupt of power and influence of outside forces trying to destroy the village of Summer Shandy literally to raze it to the ground . He must find a way to stop it at all cost . He's lively hood depends on the village for supplies an cash harvest . And finding love with Tess .recommend reading excellent series .
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This is a must read for series fans.
Very different kind of litrpg, but a lot of fun. Third year in the life of Jason as a farmer. New dangers, new possibilities...and maybe a new companion:)
Quite enjoyable, more than the second. The only thing that drove me to annoyance was Jason's mother and the Juun Bugs. But a satisfying story, with a very satisfying conclusion. Just fun, easy escapism. The Cookbook is my favorite character, so I would like to see a lot more of her, and see Jason experimenting with more recipes. Not just breakfast. Note: The cleavage cover has nothing to do with the book and actually kept me from reading them for a long time. Stop catering to young men--it really isn't effective anyhow!
