Magical Midlife Crisis #2

A Bay Of Angry Fae

Rate this book
When I imagined my forties, I didn't anticipate quite so many severed heads.

When I killed the Red Cap I thought I was saving my family, not starting a war.

It turns out when you kill a champion of Winter at Summer's behest, the icy Sidhe take it personally.

The Summer Court despise me for who I am, the Winter Court hate me for what I've done.

Unless I can turn the tables on the deadly Fae, my midlife crisis is going to cost me my head.

A Bay of Angry Fae (Magical Midlife Crisis Book 2) by S.C. Stokes. In book one we are introduced to Nora the main protagonist. She is a single mother with two kids, young teens, and her mother living nearby. Nora is unemployed without support from her ex-husband and takes a job as a bounty hunter catching criminal magical beings. In book one we get to see how she gets her start at such an unusual job. Book two we see her trying to be a good single parent as she emotionally supports her children knowing her new job can put them in danger. At the suggestion of her boss she is requested to take a small vacation with her family to get away from a pack of trouble pointed at her only to wind up right in the middle of it all. Wizards in long black robes are everywhere, a cabal, the Summer Court and the Winter Court at odds, all are wanting to take shots at Nora, Mom and maybe even the kids. The first part of the book deals with her family and her concerns but by midway this adventure really kicks into high gear. I can hardly wait to see where Nora will be going in book three. We get a small glimpse of how this may be connected to the other books in Sam's series, I'm hoping for some crossovers. Looks like Sam has set the stage for a nice long series, yeah. And if you have not read any of Sam's books, they are such fast-pace fun, a good place to start is with Conjuring A Coroner: Dying To Meet You. Enjoy!

Sam Stokes – Magical Midlife Crisis, Bk 2 – A Bay of Angry Fae

With her new life comes new experiences, severed heads!

Still working on catching up; here’s book two of the “Magical Midlife Crisis,” A Bay of Angry Fae. Nora is now training as a Bounty Hunter with the hot-as-the-daylights trainer Alasdair. Two weeks have passed, and she is sore but enjoying most of her new work experiences. The only trouble is trying to keep her mind on the job. I mean, come on, she is divorced, not dead! As the day begins, she is in the forest with Alasdair, and he is showing her the headless dead body. At any rate, as she pulls her mind off the hot Scottish man in front of her, she reminds herself that at least this decapitated body did not make her throw up as the Ice Troll did. That in itself is an accomplishment.

Well, now she finds out that Alasdair thinks she is responsible for this body, but no, she had only decapitated one, and that was it. Alasdair knows that the Summer court had not broken any rules lately, so there was no cause to kill this one. Both are now worried about the reason behind this brutal killing. It was obvious that whoever did it wanted the body found and went about trying to make it seem that Nora was the one that did the killing. It would be clear that the Summer Court would be coming to take their revenge on Nora, believing that she was responsible. And the story begins…

What did I like? The most significant thing I like about this series is that the protagonist is a sassy middle-aged woman who knows she is still alive when she can daydream about the hot sexy Scottish trainer. She understands her responsibilities in life and works to manage everything around her. Her background, the father, King of the Winter Court, is not something that she wants to define her. She wants to do that on her own merit.

What will you like? A sassy, fun, exciting, and dangerous storyline that keeps building with new dangers. The interaction between Alasdair and Nora keeps the book moving forward with humor and yet the understanding between them as to how dangerous their world as bounty hunters really is. Be prepared for an exhilarating end that will take your breath away!

The series keeps getting better and better. I can see glimmers of how it might tie into his other book series. Nora is a middle aged bounty hunter … who hunts supernatural beings. Oh, and she’s the daughter of Oberon, King of the Winter Court. Yet creatures from said Court are hunting her. And someone is framing her for killing a Glade Guardian - a high-ranking member of the Summer Court. What has she stumbled upon? Or is she just in the wrong place at the wrong time – again? Looking forward to the next book! Note that there is some swearing in this book. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.

I love this book!

Nora Byrne, she has so much courage and boy does she need need it in this adventure! Another fast paced story following Nora, (I love this character), and this time the danger to her is more than real. The author has given us another amazing action packed story from beginning to end. Full of mystery, magic, twists and turns, and some really cool new characters. This was a fun and exciting read for me. I just loved it.... Now, I'm waiting for the next book of adventure!

Resort fun...and mayhem!

Nora and company are back and oh boy, is it a doozy! She's starting to live her best life and gets in a spot of perceived trouble, so she's...GASP...forced to take a vacay. Which of course doesn't go as expected. It's a great sequel to the first and the pace is great. We learn more about past events and she learns more about her self.
If you've read any of this universe, which I highly recommend, this is a great addition.

This was just bags of fun with Nora being just as amusing in her wit and actions as it was in book one.

I enjoy the idea of the vacation gone wrong with unexpected fighting with grandma getting in on the action.

I was really interested in how we saw more of the fae and what the whole situation is going on with them.

I'm looking forward to more from Nora and in this magical modern universe.

I read this via ebook on my kindle.

A Bay Of Angry Fae: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel (Magical Midlife Crisis Book 2), my tenth read from author Samuel Stokes. Breakneck pace, intricately & tightly woven storyline, a 280-page action-packed adventure. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Nora and the rest are back for another fun filled adventure. Opens with a bang and then Nora and her family go on vacation to lay low. But that does not last long and all the fun from the first book returns. I laughed, and signed and loved it all. Learn a few things and meet new characters too.

Once again we are taken into a magical world. Nora becomes a Deputy that goes after Criminal Magic Beings. Not something she thought she’d be doing. Definitely a book worth reading. There’s so much going on, that you don’t want to leave.

So; this storyline came in right where the first left off. Not a lot of rehash ;), Alastair thinks he is sending her away from gathering trouble- but very Nora-like she still finds plenty.
A good series, which I look forward to more of!

Good story
Nora kills a Red Cap and the Summer and Winter courts and both justly upset with her. Alasdair has his hands full trying to get her to be a Hunter and not run scared.
