The Practice of Research in Social Work

Rate this book
Principles of evidence-based practice come alive through illustrations of actual social work research in this Second Edition of Rafael J. Engel and Russell K. Schutt’s innovative The Practice of Research in Social Work . The authors introduce research methods as an integrated set of techniques for investigating the problems encountered in social work, directly linking each topic to issues associated with ethics, diversity, and evidence-based practice. Enabling students to critically evaluate research literature and develop the skills to engage in research and practice evaluation, the book emphasizes methods of particular concern in social work research and devotes chapters to group, survey, single subject, and qualitative designs.

I searched hard to find a text that would work best for the graduate class I teach in co-occurring disorders. This was by far the best I found as it includes all the research basics my students need to know along with Evidence based practice which was really hard to find.

Really informative book with a lot of good examples that make the information intelligible. I had to read it for a class, and can't imagine anyone reading it for fun, but who knows?

It's a good research book. Some chapters are to long, but most is straight to the point.
