It's hard for Luke to make a name for himself as an adventurer with all the competition -- especially when he's a perpetually low-ranked adventurer whose only skill is (repair). But when Luke is abandoned by his party and uses that same (repair) skill to survive and escape the dungeon, a new world of possibilities opens up. Suddenly, his despised skill allows him not only to survive but to stand out in a crowded field!
Is this just another fantasy manga series that's heavily RPG-inspired right down to the magical game-like skills? Yes. Does it have very generic fantasy world building and a protagonist who's just sooo good at one thing in order to show up the people who were mean to him like almost every other take on this particular setting? Also yes.
But man, sometimes you're just in the mood for like. Plain mac and cheese out of a box. It's not mindblowing or doing anything special, but it's filling, and it's satisfying. And that's all you need sometimes! I have a weird soft spot for these fantasy stories with too long titles and really similar storylines, and I have to say that this one doesn't do anything egregious and is actually quite fun in a lot of ways.
So yeah, if you're looking for something more interesting than mac and cheese, maybe look for something else, but if you just want something lighthearted, kind of silly, and surface level, this first volume's looking like that's what this series will offer.
I bought this because of the character designs and especially some of the female designs. I read through it a little and realized that it is kinda boring imo. A lot of talking in a circle standing around. Not much comedic value here, more slice of life fantasy with nothing else really. Not much fanservice, only one instance of nipples and it’s not of the character I’d want to see. There isn’t much drama, intense antagonist, or anything to set up an enthralling story, it’s very bland. He just levels up his repair skill to become stronger. I can’t help but think of all the other “I have one skill and get it to be OP” series and how this seems lacking compared to those.
Series could one of the following; use more fanservice, more gore/violence, more comedy, more adventure/journey feel.
Not sure I’ll buy the next one since I have so many others I’m into instead.
I picked this manga up because the concept interested me, that the main character is an adventurer, and he's abandoned by his party in a dungeon because he's a low ranked adventurer, and his only skill is Repair, and love how he starts a weapon shop, I finished Volume 1 yesterday, and it was a great read to be honest, enjoyed the entire thing from start to finish, the story was excellent, and I'm looking forward to the next volume, but one thing i was not expecting in this manga was nudity, now, mind you, it's not full nudity, but it's there, and was not expecting it because usually the older teen manga don't have any sort of nudity, but the nudity did make sense, you'll see what I mean, this manga was a very enjoyable read and I would recommend it for anyone who likes stuff like this.
Overall the story is fine. The main character is fairly likable and the dialogue is well written. I'm not 100% thrilled with the game-like skill system the world has, but it's a stylistic choice that I won't fault them for. It's more of a LitRPG manga than it is a fantasy dungeon crawler. While it is a book about dungeons and skills, it mostly takes place outside of dungeons - so far. Not a ton of world building in the first issue, but it has some promise and I will definitely give the second volume a shot.
The book has a bit of unnecessary nudity, but they weren't gross about it. I worry that this series might become a "girl collect" series, but I'm hopeful it won't get too pervy as the series continues.
This is a story which falls into a genre in manga of the main character being weak, being betrayed by those he/she trusts and finding a group that appreciates him for all his great value. I believe the statement covers everything that happens in this very first volume. Did I enjoy reading it? Yes! Will I read volume 2? Definitely! Do I believe the story will be forgettable and a year from now I not remember reading it? Absolutely! But this is for immediate enjoyment and the book delivers. Characters are likable (other than the evil ones) and the main character is not aloof which is always great for the reader. Enjoy the quick but fun read.
Typical story of an E-Ranker made into the party pack mule, who is then betrayed and left for dead. Miraculously, they survive with powers never before seen. *Sigh*
The main character, Luke, is incredibly incompetent. He has 15 years of experience as an adventurer and no skills to back it up. He didn’t know what his repair skill was capable of and forgot that it takes more effort to repair living things. If not for his repair skill evolving for no reason, he’d have no talent whatsoever.
This is a good start for this type of story. Many stories like this start off with great momentum, and this is no exception. The concept is interesting. The writing is good and the drawing is excellent.
It is different but also kind of boring. This is one of those moments where I accidentally bought the manga thinking it was a book. My bad. Wasn't impressed enough to continue buying it.
A simple premise, well executed. I like the group dynamic. There does seem to be a mystery here. I like the variety in the metals that are used in this manga.
I like the story but the exaggerated drawings of women with impossible size breasts is neither artistic or conducive to an otherwise good story. It is gratuitous and distracting from the rest of the visualization of the story.
