I remembered this book from when I was a younger reader, and... it didn't really work, haha. I mean, my brother and I weren't at each other's throats constantly or anything, but we had moments, and I'm not sure whether this book affected that or not.

As for the book itself, it's fine. It's a little repetitive, but I understand that helps with instructional stuff, where it's dull in narratives. I don't know how I would improve upon it myself; the problem is it relies on the reader having at least a certain level of maturity and perspective to grasp the lessons. Would the average young reader with no empathy be able to grasp that other people might feel the same way they do, that so you would want to be treated, you should treat others the same way?

Recommended in a very specific instance where a receptive reader would be able to envision being in someone else's shoes, though I couldn't tell you when that is. Of course, the age of this specific book might make it difficult to get, but if you can find it FREE (say, in a little library I might drop this in shortly), then fantastic!

Considering this book was written in 1978, there are surprisingly few changes I would make if I were editing it today. The best audience for this would be children, age 4 and up who have siblings older than toddlers.

I really like this book. It helps you survive fights with your brothers and sisters like they say. It's like a comic book - it tells you what you can do. There's speech bubbles & pictures on almost every page. If you're having trouble with your brother or sister, big or little (I have a little sister), then you should get this book. It says that if you didn't have a brother or sister it would be lonely. So that's why you try to get along with your brothers or sisters.

Such a great book for kids and adults to read together!! Joy Berry has a wonderful way of bringing things to a kids level to help them understand things better. Sometimes as an adult we forget kids see and process the world differently than us.

Beautifully illustrated to help kids pay attention while learning valuable life lessons!

This series is wonderful for any home or classroom! I want them for he community center where I work!! I am also thrilled they are being made available as ebooks!!

We got a whole bunch of these books given to us. My kids really like the pictures, and the straight facts about how to get along with people.

Cute but wish it was more positive than dwelling on what not to do, rather than what to do.

This book is the reason I am alive today; without its simple advice, my brother would have murdered me with a Whiffle Ball bat when I was a child!
