Savage U #4

Real Like Daydreams

Rate this book
Seraphina…that’s a big name.

The first time I laid eyes on Julien Umbra, he made me cry.

That makes him sound mean, but grumpy would be more of an apt description. Besides, I always cry when I’m drunk.

Hate is a strong, strong word.

I’m back for another semester at Savage U, nursing a bruised heart and shattered ego. That’s what happens when your ex cheats and everyone knows.

Worse than that, the girl my ex told me not to worry about and then banged is vying for the one thing I want: drum captain of the marching band.

Pretend all you want to.

I have a chance to get what I want, there’s just one little thing I have to do: fake date the grumpy guy in the hoodie. The one who sits alone at the front of the class and growls at anyone who speaks to him.

But Julien doesn’t growl at me, and to my surprise, he agrees to be my fake boyfriend.

Breaking the already broken…
Julien is scarred in more ways than one, but he’s not as broken as he thinks he is. There's something about him that draws me in.

I like him, and the longer we do this, it starts to feel like it’s not for show.

All of this is fleeting.

I have to remember this is fake.

When I get what I want, Julien and I will walk away from each other.

The song will end.

But what if all I want is Julien?

I’ve been excited for Seraphina and Julien’s book and it didn’t disappoint. I love fake dating, and the texting storyline, and both of the main characters were amazing together. I’ve loved all the ‘Savage U’ books and this was the perfect conclusion.

*Thank you to the author for an ARC of this title.*

Well, this wasn't a book I was expecting to get, but what would I do without it? I'm so glad J. Wolf let us have Julien's story. It filled me with so much joy. It was full of new beginnings and funny situations that just warmed my heart. I also loved the little peeks at the other characters I love and I am excited for where this world is going next.

At first blush with this romance I was a little nervous, I won't lie. It has two Romance tropes that I am not the biggest fan of: hidden identity texting and dating for a bet. HOWEVER, I was quickly assured that things weren't going to go down the way I expected and I just had such a great time with this story.

Julien has a lot of baggage and though he has slowly been healing, there is still a lot of pain, both physically and mentally that he needs to work through. He feels like no one sees him the same anymore and the guilt on his friend's faces has him feeling isolated and alone.

Serafina has been through a lot. She's been cheated on and embarrassed but she still seems upbeat. She isn't intimidated by Julien and is very intrigued by his mysterious ways. When she gets dared to date him and break up with him later on, she wouldn't even consider it, if not for something very important being held above her head. But what if he is in on it too? Then there is no chance for either of them to get hurt.. right?

I loved the fake dating and steamy experiments, healing pool time, and awkward outbursts from Sera that had me blushing so hard.. That drummer girl knows how to steam things up without even realizing it. I loved their intimate moments together and not just when things were physical. When they were sharing their hearts and getting to know each other.. just so sweet.

There were some heavy topics that we had to navigate and while this isn't a Dark Romance, there are still some content warnings to be mindful of. But I loved that J. Wolf touched on how sometimes the sunniest people can be hiding some serious personal pain. We all have insecurities and struggles. When we find someone who appreciates it all.. that's the real Daydream.

I still think Sweet Like Poison will be the stand out in this series for me. But it would not have been complete without Real Like Daydreams.

I’m so sad to see this series come to an end! Every book was great and they just got better as the series went on. ‘Sweet like Poison’ is still my favourite of the series but I loved this one nearly as much. This author writes top tier banter between her MCs. Each couple has an individualized way that they banter that works for them which really helps each book stand on their own. Sera and Julian for instance, had a lighter more playful banter.

At first, I didn’t think I’d like where the story was going. I’m not a fan of the “bet” trope because it puts me on edge and sours every sweet moment between the two MCs, but I liked how this one didn’t turn out like that. There was still a bit of secrecy between the two but I didn’t find it a problem throughout their relationship that tarnished it. I really liked how their relationship developed. They started as strangers then because each other’s world. I loved how obsessed Julian was with Sera. He was her number one supporter and would do anything for her, and she was the same for him.

I really liked both MCs. Although Julian has been through so much and is completely closed off in the beginning, I liked how he slowly became more like his past self. He didn’t get magically better either and had a long was to go both physically and mentally. He was still very sweet and charming when he wanted to be. Although the whole serenading in class thing was a bit odd and random but I guess it was fine enough to close that plot point.

Sera was great. She was very sweet and had a rambling quirk but it never felt cringy or immature to me. Just a nervous girl without a filter. She also stood up for herself when needed after what happened with her ex. I wish they acknowledged how he was abusive and talked more about it. They talked about how horrible he was but he was verbally and physically abusive and showed signs of it possibly going further if she continued to date him. It didn’t need to be a big part of the book but just acknowledged for what it was. That kind of behaviour should not be taken lightly.

Overall, I loved the book. I really liked how they dealt with certain issues and how well Julian and Sera fit together. This entire series was 4.5 stars.

Gah! I have loved Julia Wolf's Savage U series from the very beginning. Moreover, I loved Julian in Bright Like Midnight, was obsessed with him in Sweet Like Poison and basically will not be the same after reading Real Like Daydreams. I absolutely loved his chemistry, banter and connection with Sera. I was addicted from the very first page and could not stop reading! This book was pure perfection!

If you can't tell already, I absolutely adored Real Like Daydreams. But what I loved more than anything throughout this whole series was the way Wolf developed Julian's character. I was basically obsessed with him and the poignant glimpses we saw of him in the last book, and just KNEW his story would be outstanding. In all honesty, this story blew my expectations out of the water! What we found was a wounded man who pulled himself out of the darkness with unflinching strength and who unknowingly met his soulmate in the process. I loved how both Sera and Julian were both much-needed lighthouses for one another in their own tumultuous storms. It made their love and connection even stronger and more meaningful.

Overall, this story was fantastic. I have loved every character this author has created in the "Savage U/Savage Crew" world and can't wait for what's coming next! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: fake relationship
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦."

Oh my fracking word, I swear, this series just keeps getting better and better! Sera approaches Julien about being her fake boyfriend to appease the bully in her class that seems to have her life in his hands. Despite the fact Julien is a grumpy loner, he agrees with the stipulation that Sera helps him with some physical therapy since his insurance ran out and he's having severe pain from an accident. He figures a physical therapy student could be better than no help at all. Neither counts on catching real feelings, but both know there will be fallout...

Real Like Daydreams is just so sweet and angsty and it will definitely leave your heart full with all the feels. The character development is phenomenal. Both Julien and Sera have had intense struggles and journeys that will feel like your heart bleeds for both of them. Sera is just a beautiful soul. She chooses to be happy and kind despite what she's gone through, but she is done with feeling like a pushover and vows to take control of that portion of her life. Julien's accident has devastated his body and his relationships, but Sera is an inspiration to him. He's possessive and jealous and way more sneaky than he first comes across. He's definitely a man who knows who he wants. The storyline is fantastic and the pages just flew by. There's other man drama, a bit of action, and some secrets that all lend well to the fabulous storytelling. Absolutely floved this book - it's definitely going on my best of 2022 list!

Real Like Daydreams is the 4th book in the Savage U series and is a standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

I’m at a loss for where to even begin. I’ve loved this series, and it seems as though Wolf is in a competition to see how much she can outdo herself with each release. Real Like Daydreams wasn’t just outdoing herself, she obliterated the glass ceiling with Julien and Sera’s story. No holds barred, the best book I’ve read all year.

Sera was sunshine and smiles, but how often do we see people hide their pain behind big smiles and a sunny personality? She wasn't happy; she was, but she was so much more than that. She had some dark times behind her, and as a result, she chose to be a positive influence on anyone’s life she came across. Although some of her character development takes place off-page, Wolf did an amazing job of letting you be a part of those moments, along with seeing this amazing girl come into her own, realizing her worth. I think it’s something we can all take something from.

I’ve been waiting with bated breath for Julien’s book. We saw him throughout the series from other characters' perspectives, but I couldn’t wait until I was able to spend time inside his head. To say it was more than I imagined would be the understatement of the century. I expected the brooding hero, the man lost inside his head due to the trauma he suffered. Nobody could survive that and not come out the other side as a completely different person.

I’m in awe of the way these characters were portrayed. Fictional characters have never felt more real than Julien and Sera. They both overcame different types of trauma, and seeing the character development and being a part of it, especially when I felt such a strong connection to both, was like a balm to my tattered heart. an inkling of hope that I haven’t felt in a long time.

A connection that began in the shadows, neither of them realizing that the stranger that offered them a sense of comfort would be the person that would light up their world. They were opposites on the outside, sunny and grumpy, but on the inside it was as though the broken parts of each of them fit seamlessly together, offering one another the support they needed in order to heal.

I’m absolutely certain that none of my words will do justice to this story. This isn’t something you simply read, these characters’ emotions, the devastating truths, and glimmers of hope will become embedded in your soul. There’s no walking away as the person you were when you began.

Real Like Daydreams is without a doubt one of the best books I’ve read this year. A compelling blend of intoxicating chemistry, a broody hero, an enlivening heroine, emotionally riveting, heavy topics handled with the heartbreakingly raw truth, glimmers of hope woven through every word, giggle-inducing moments with friends, and hot AF steam. I’ve enjoyed the Savage U series, but there is just something so fundamentally special about Real Like Daydreams. I’m in awe of Wolf’s talent. She plucks you right from reality and inserts you into the world she created. Every emotion, every moment inside her fictional world feels real, like daydreams.

A little real-life tidbit for a better understanding of WHY these characters meant so much to me.

It’s such an odd feeling, seeing two very distinct elements of who you are inside fictional characters. For years, I’ve made it a point to make people laugh whenever possible. I know what it’s like to feel like you’ll never smile again. If I can give someone that, even if only for a second, it soothes an ache inside of me. I’m honestly not even sure if I'll keep this part in my review or if I’ll end up deleting it. The other part is the bone-deep connection I felt to Julien. Sure, the reasons behind our disability are worlds apart, but the emotions he felt. His thoughts, the things he said out loud, and the things he never put voice to, could have been taken straight from my own mind.

It’s strange to feel more "seen" by characters in a fictional world, but I can assure you that it was very much the case. I too have a disability, one that won’t get better, and as a matter of fact, will only continue to worsen. In medical journals, adhesive arachnoiditis is said to have the pain and agony of stage 4 bone cancer without the relief of death. I’ve stopped telling anyone in real life when my pain gets worse or another symptom makes an appearance. I became their consolation. It was me convincing them everything would be OK. As it continued, I realized I no longer had the strength to deal with other people’s emotions about what was happening to ME.

The reason I’m sharing this extremely personal aspect of my life is to truly get across that Wolf did an astounding job portraying a person with disabilities that I felt compelled to share this information, so when I tell you she did so with the raw, heartbreaking truth in the most respectful way I think I’ve ever come across. There were some other heavy topics, and I felt those were all handled with the same brutal honesty. I abhor it when authors incorporate heavy topics into their books and then gloss over the aftermath of those events. I get it’s fiction, but to gloss over some things is disrespectful to those who have faced those things and come out the other side. Wolf should be applauded for how she respectfully and honestly portrayed these heavy topics.

THIS is how you end an amazing series!
This book & characters are simply wonderful! What an emotional and exquisite story!
Julien has been a favorite secondary character of mine in this series past books, I’m so very glad he got a story and it happens to be my new favorite!
These characters are so beautiful, they’ve both been in such dark places. I love their connection, I love Sera’s (Seraphina) upbeat chatty conversations, I love Julien’s gruff exterior, I love it even more when Sera is able to get a smirk from him.
The story has such heart aching, heart wrenching qualities and on the flip side it is so intensely beautiful and hopeful.
I really felt everything for these soulful, damaged, resilient characters who are so caring and full of love for the people in their lives.
Depression, self esteem and body image issues are something both characters have in common. They’ve struggled and still are.
They truly understand and accept each other. It’s a beautiful relationship they form that helps encourage the other.
Family plays a painful part for them both. I love the way this is handled and the way these characters support and give each other a safe place to fall. They push when it’s helpful and stand by the other no matter what.
I could go on forever…there’s so many amazing aspects to this story. So many wonderful scenes, so much steam and sexiness. And there’s a lot of big, smart and heartfelt moments.
The chemistry and emotions of their sexual connection are both incredible! Hot and explosive, they gave me all the butterflies and steam.
The secondary characters are wonderful as always, they’re like family and I loved the parts they play.
This is an absolute MUST read book and series!
Such unique characters, so entertaining and very thoughtful storytelling.
I LOVE it all! Top favorite forever!

What a fantastic finish to this series 😊💞. I am so thankful to Julia for not killing off Julian like she contemplated. It’s not often you get a male lead with disabilities and Julia wrote this exceptionally well, not glossing over his pain and insecurities.

He had some things to make up to Sera after keeping his secret. His thoughts about how he couldn’t lose her because he couldn’t lose one more thing broke my heart 💔. Sera, with her love and forgiveness put it back together ❤️‍🩹.

Sweet epilogue, hoping to see cameo’s from all these characters in the Savage Academy series.

And hopefully at some point a Marco book 🤗

Scarred hero + fake dating = yes

Secret identity where one party knows the other but the other doesn't = no.

Despite that, I liked this book. This author has definitely proved that her releases are worth reading afrer this series. I can't wait for the Beckett savages book because idk what the tropes will be like. The ending was kind of meh but I guess that was expected with the way the plot was playing out. Lol the heroine kind of annoyed me.

I don't remember the last book that made me cry so much as I read. As a former self harmer and someone who struggles with mental health and family issues of my own, I saw a lot of myself in this book. Sera hit close to home at damn near every stage of her story, her growth was a thing of beauty to watch.

Like so many others, I had a soft spot for Julien from the get-go, after his not-so-accident I couldn't WAIT to see how Julia wove an angry man in recovery into a HEA. She out did herself on this one. It's going to stay with me for a long time - and then some. I'm going to need the paperback for this one to add to my Julia shelf, I'm going to need to snuggle it from time to time.

Great to see the whole gang in the epilogue too. I'm a goner for this whole series <3

I was excited about this book for quite some time, and was determined to love it. Turned out to be just another mediocre romance I will have forgotten by next week...

First of all, it's very clear to the reader who the Phantom (the texting pal) is. Obviously, it's the Hero! So why make his two or three POVs (sorry not his, Julien's!) top secret, where he says stuff like:"I don't even know her..." It just confuses the reader, who apparently is smarter than you think, Julia 😄

Anyway, the problem of the book for me was that Sera (h) didn't deserve Julian (H). It was at 75%, where he comes clean about his real identity , she is so mad at him, and without other intervention, hard to say if she would have forgotten him on her own. She spent the whole one year of her life with a guy, who treated her like sh*t, and she was OK with it, and when the Hero tells her that he's been in love with her since they first met, and cared for her this whole time, she doesn't know whether to let this go?? Stupid, stupid girl...

3 stars goes only to the sweetheart Jules 🥰

Oh, one more honorable mention Sera's sister is a huge capital B to her, and she still goes to her wedding (NOT as a maid of honor and NOT included at the family table), but she can't forgive Julian... Gah! OK I'm done, now!

Real Like Daydreams, book 4 in Julia Wolf's continuing Savage U series is here and might be my favorite of them all so far. From it's absolutely gorgeous cover and young adult storyline, this college romance features characters you met in previous books whose story becomes the focus here. Their names might sound familiar, but if not, you're going to love getting know them here. It's a small world in Savage River, so you never know who knows who, how they're connected or when paths might cross.

Julien Umbra has a complicated story to tell and I've been waiting so patiently to hear it. He's become my favorite leading man in this Savage world with his beautiful soul and tragic past. At one time not that long ago, he was an easy going guy and the life of the party until an accident knocked him lower than he's ever been before. Now, he's struggling, mourning the loss of his carefree former life which will never be the same again. He's become his own polar opposite- angry, reclusive and hiding his brokeness from the outside world.

Enter sweet, bubbly Seraphina Ellis, a tiny girl with a big heart and a personality to match. Music is her life and becoming captain of her marching band's drumline is her college dream. Her world comes crashing down when her boyfriend cheats with the girl who wants to steal her dream away and bam, now there's drama on campus and a black cloud is hanging over her life again.

When a vengeful bet tempts Sera to take action to secure her dream, getting her grumpy, hoodie wearing classmate to agree to be boyfriend becomes part of the plan and surprisingly, he's on board. Grumpy guy and sunshine girl ease into fake dating and make it work for them. Both have had the bottom drop out of their lives so, it's time to shake things up at Savage U with a little bit of deception!

On the surface, Julien and Sera seem worlds apart but deep down they have so much in common. They both have their secrets and scars- some are obvious and easy to see while others are hidden away in the dark corners of their minds. They balanced, cared for and seemed to bring out each other's inner strengths, which touched my romance loving heart to no end. As Sera begins to understand Julien better, she sees him in a whole new light. This physically and mentally broken man is growing on her and she doesn't want to 'fake' anything with him anymore. The real deal is what she wants now.

Julia Wolf gave her readers two wounded souls to love and cheer on as they faced dark moments in their lives but found uplifting ones as well. She shared their story with sensitively and thoughtful care, insuring I loved everything about Sera and Julien's emotion filled story from the beginning to that fun and satisfying epilogue. At times, I couldn't hold back the river of sweet or salty tears that seemed to be part of my Real Like Daydreams reading experience. With lightness and dark, the sweetest sensations and spiciest heat all present, the witty, caring friendships and love was brightly shining and rounded out the story. I'll chalk up this overflow of feelings to the talented writing of Julia Wolf. She never fails to evoke the highs and lows of my emotions with every new book she releases. I'm not sure what comes next in this world but whatever it is, I'll be waiting!

I received an early copy of this book to read and review. My thoughts and options of it are entirely my own.

This is such a bitter sweet review to write. I am so sad this series is over. I have loved every page I’ve spent with the Savage Crew & Savage U guys and girls! The final book is all about Julien & Sera and what a book it was.

Julien Umbra was a party guy. In the previous instalments he liked a party as much as the next guy. He had his boys, Amir and Marco and he had his fair share of the ladies. Until that one fateful moment. After that Julien had nothing. Convinced himself he wasn’t worth anything.

Seraphina Ellis is made to feel like she’s not enough. Her family poo-poo her like her decisions and fashion sense are nothing but a phase. She’s made to feel that her body is unattractive and half the time they don’t even realise it. They don’t see her. Julien sees her. Once before that fateful night and then after when she starts appearing throughout his life.

Sera needs Julien, and Julien needs Sera. And there lies a beautiful story of self discovery, love and acceptance. As with all Julia’s books, this one is written with heart and vibrancy. The world of Savage River is made so vivid and clear you won’t want to leave. Which is why I’m so pleased to see we’re going to get a Savage Academy, and that Luciana and Beckett will be first up!! I loved Beckett in this book, so much!!

Sera and Julien were such a good couple. They’re both fighters in their own right and I loved watching them go from fake dating to real dating without even realising it!!
I’m trying to decide which couples are my fave from this bunch and I think I’m going to have to go with Theo & Helen. But Julien & Sera come a very close joint second with Amir & Zadie AND Locke & Elena!!!

Author knocked this one out of the park. I loved being lost in Sera and Julian's world.

These two were great! I loved the vulnerability and snarkiness of Sera and I got lost in depths of Julian's state of brokenness and nothingness. Sera was perfect for him, she managed to crack his walls bit by bit, day by day, and he gave her the strength to her voice.
The more time these two spent together, the deeper their emotions ran. From the beginning of the book, all the way to the end, I could see how much they meant to each other. I loved their banter. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I was looking forward to each chapter.

Real Like Daydreams was perfect from start to finish and I highly recommend it!

Loved this soooo much. Surprisingly I really really enjoyed this, I struggled to even start this book initially not sure why. But I'm glad I did and I just loved it.
I'm so glad Sera and Julian got their happily ever after. They both deserved everything and they got it.
The found family trope hit in this book. 💓💓💓

I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next books.

5 beautifully broken stars

Seraphina and Julien.
What a fantastic and heartwarming conclusion to what would have to be one of my favourite series of the year.

Im so glad that Julien got a story of his own, after falling in love with him in "bright like midnight" and having my heart break when he had his accident, I was so happy for him to get his happy ending... I NEEDED him to have it.
This book has some great tropes in it:
✔️Secret identity via text messages
✔️A bet
✔️Fake relationship (that wasn't so fake)
✔️Scarred and grumpy hero
✔️Sweet and soft heroine

Julien and Sera had a brief meeting in the shadows of a party and you just knew the spark was there, and although he gave her his number it was really the wrong timing, Sera had a boyfriend and following their encounter Julien had his accident.
It was months before he messaged her and they became fast friends via text, he knew who she was but she only knew him as "the Phantom", regardless they formed a connection and the story truly begins.......

At the mention of a bet I was internally screaming and was really ready to dislike Sera if she dared to hurt Jules that way, thankfully she's too nice and honest to have been capable of taking that road and I was greatful, my like for Sera only grew from there, I loved that she actually had alot of confidence to tell Julien what shes thinking and feeling outloud no matter how they left her feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed, even though she lacked that ability with her family. She was soft and sweet but Julien really helped her come into her own.

Julien was a little buised and cracked, but not broken. I really felt his pain for what he'd been through and his anger at life in general, he was so grumpy in the beginning. As things developed with Sera he was soft as butter and I started to see glimpse of the guy we first saw in book 2. I just adored him.

They were so perfect for each other, they have both been into the darkness, both took different paths at different times to get there but only someone who has been into the abyss can truly understand how cold and lonely it can be, darkness knows darkness after all.
Reading how they helped draw eachother away from the dark and into the light was beautiful. They both had such patience and care for eachother when they needed it to deal with all those tricky outside factors in their lives and in navigating their relationship.

It was also kinda awesome to discover how much Julien was into Sera from that first encounter, I loved that.
I had so many feels throughout this book, there where some truly beautiful moments, some sad ones too, and lots of happiness. Really fantastic book and I cant wait to read what comes next with Savage Academy.

"Imperfection meeting imperfection, flawlessly."

They really where a beautifully real daydream ❤️

There is a reason that this author is one of my favorites! Real Like Daydreams is a phenomenal read that sent me on a roller coaster of emotions and I loved every single minute of it! This is a new adult, college romance that you do not want to miss!

One of the major reasons that I loved this book I shall keep rather vague as I do not want to spoil it if you haven’t read any of the other Savage U books. Let’s just say that this author created a character unlike any other and I was thrilled to see this in a romance novel as I was able to identify with him on so many levels. Once you read this book, you will know exactly what I am referring to!

Readers are sure to fall in love with Julien and Seraphina. These are two broken, but not necessarily damaged characters who possess an inner strength that is admirable. In circulating each other’s orbits, they have a beautiful connection and not to mention a sizzling attraction that I couldn’t help but cheer for them to get their HEA. Julien’s character has many layers and at times he may seem a little standoffish but will Seraphina burrow her way into his heart? Sera comes across as sweet, bubbly, and can talk to a brick wall, but there is way more to her than meets the eye. This is a girl that I could see myself being friends with in real life. Both characters have impeccable character development and this author seriously did an excellent job with their growth as story progressed.

This author does address some subject matter that is real and relevant in today’s world. They are something that many readers will be able to relate to and she approaches it with great sensitivity and respect.

Real Like Daydreams is an enjoyable read that will pull at your heartstrings all while leaving you swooning (and at times fanning yourself during those kindle melting scenes). The author’s engaging writing style and endearing characters always ensnares my attention. It is a novel that will captivate you and take you on an incredible journey of self discovery, healing, and love. Real Like Daydreams is book 4 in this author’s Savage U series. While it can be read as a complete standalone, I recommend the pervious books as they will enrich your reading experience and are also amazing.

I voluntarily read an early version of this manuscript. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I don’t deserve you, but I want you with every broken part of me

Real Like Daydreams is a college, grumpy sunshine, new adult romance that will hook you with it’s ride or die characters and witty banter.

My man Julien did not disappoint. From him nearly dying in a hit and run in a previous book I knew that he was going to be broken mentally. Sera was the perfect girl for his grumpy ass and to pull him back into the light.

Thanks for dancing with me, Jules. No one ever dances with me.
I’m not much of a partner, but you asked I’ll always dance with you.

I am so in love with the Savage U series and it’s characters. From the kick ass heroines to the heroes and heroines you love to hate, I couldn’t tell you which story is my favourite of the series because they are all special in their own way.

If you love college romances then check out this series! It will keep you on your toes and have you flipping the pages. I love this world.

I need Savage Academy asap because I already know that Beckett and Luciana are going to be explosive!

Im so glad that julia gave us Julians book, its Pure and utter perfection.
There a match made in heaven, hes the grumpy to her happy, I absolutely love him, I already did but it's ridiculous how much it grew whilst reading this.
Sera is sassy, fiesty and strong, Julian is grumpy and sullen but he has this side to him that makes your heart soar.
I devoured this book, from cover to cover I was completely consumed, the rollercoaster of emotions that it took me on made my head spin but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Real like daydreams is now my favourite ( i admit, i do say that about all julias books) and worth infinite stars

Ever since I read Bright Like Midnight and was introduced to Amir’s two friends Julien and Marco, I have wanted to find out more about them. After the sacrifice that Julien made for Amir, I definitely needed to know more about him. Then I read Sweet Like Poison and got even more glimpses of Julien’s damaged persona and I knew he needed a HEA. My squishy little heart demanded it.

Thank God Julia Wolf is one of those amazing author’s who listen to their readers and delivers their requests. I wasn’t the only one who wanted more of Julien as his character shone through in the glimpses we had been given and we all wanted more.

I feel like I say this all the time, but Julien is definitely one of my favourite male characters that Wolf has written. He is intelligent, loyal, talented, encouraging, supportive and so sweet. He has the most beautiful heart; he was making me sigh and swoon all over the place.

Seraphina, or Sera, as we get to know her is a bright, vivid character. I adore her sunshiny, quirky personality and the bouts of verbal diarrhea that she suffers from (I can relate). I also admire how honest and kind she is.

Unfortunately, I could also relate to Sera’s family situation, cheating (now ex) boyfriend and a non-friend and the impact it has on her self-esteem. I feel that these experiences and the impact they had on her mental health make her the perfect love interest for our special Julien.

The conversations between Julien and Sera are what really make this story. At times there are so many nuances behind the words and when they understand each other’s thoughts emotions behind them, you know they are perfection together.

The spicy moments are also incredible and so in tune with the characters personalities, emotions and current stage of their relationship. This might sound strange, but a lot of authors get this wrong and it makes it feel like you are reading a steamy scene just so they can include some spice. So yeah, the spicy scenes are fire and Julien is super hot!!

I really enjoyed seeing the various friendships and relationships throughout this whole series, but this book in particular was really touching. I love how they are all there for each other, willing to offer support, advice, guidance or even just companionship with a cookout. It is also fabulous to see familiar faces and get glimpses of how they are living their happily ever afters.

I also need to compliment Julia Wolf for her writing once again. Some of the prose in this story is absolutely breathtaking. The emotion it encapsulates is felt in the heart, mind and soul.

And finally, the bonus epilogue where we got to visit with the whole gang was *chef’s kiss*!

Each book that Julia writes seems to be better than the last and it makes me wonder what she will be writing in five years’ time… I know that I will want to read it!

Real Like Daydreams is the latest (and final) instalment in the Savage U series and I highly recommend this book and the whole series. For the full reader experience, I suggest starting with Start A Fire (Savage Crew Book 1).

"That was new. It might have meant nothing. Then again, it could have meant everything."

Julia Wolf never intended to write Julien's story, but I'm so glad that she did. This book is exquisite, and everything this fantastic series deserves as a conclusion.

I fell in love with Julien in Bright Like Midnight. The happy-go-lucky best friend of Amir, who obsessed over Zadie's lemon bars, was a character I was drawn to immediately. And then he suffered the cruellest fate when he was almost killed being hit by an SUV. Since then we've seen him learn to walk again and try to come to terms with his new life.

That's why as Real Like Daydreams began, I was unsure of Sera. I wanted nothing but the best for Julien, but Sera's decisions made me seriously dislike her - actually I'll be honest - I hated her at the beginning. Agreeing to a bet to date and publicly dump Julien, just to be drum captain, did not enamour her to me. But, when she decided to be honest with him and I got to know her, I realised that she was perfect for Julien. Both of these characters are broken and damaged in their own way.

And so we have a fake relationship begin that soon blurs the lines and becomes all too real.

But with Sera still receiving texts from her 'Phantom', can they have their happily ever after?

As usual, Julia Wolf brings every possible emotion to her reader. I can't even explain my emotions when Julien visited his piano for the first time since his accident. My heart hurt for him and I cried so hard. I could feel his anguish and anger. I wanted to go back in time myself and erase that accident. No-one produces emotions like Julia. I swear her ability to bring out every emotion in her reader is magical.

Likewise, my heart hurt for Sera at her diabolical sister's bridal luncheon. Poor Sera was treated so badly by her awful family.

And holy moly, these two are fire together! Julia always brings the heat, too. "Touch your cl*t, pretty girl. Need you to come on my d*ck this time. I have to know what it feels like to have you squeezing the hell out of me." Phew! 🥵🔥🔥🔥

This is a book that deals with some difficult subject matters, including mentions of self harm and thoughts of suicide. However, Julia always tackles difficult topics thoughtfully and with sensitivity.

I loved seeing Elena and Lock here, as well as the rest of the gang. And I was overjoyed Julien finally spoke with Amir. And once again, we see a great group of women supporting women, and I'm totally here for it!

Real Like Daydreams made me laugh, made me cry, had me swooning and also had my heart full of joy as I finished this wonderful book and series.

Julien and Sera are two people who are scarred outside and in, and who learn to love themselves, just as much as they learn to love each other, and together they are absolutely beautiful and flawless.

Thank you so much to Julia for providing me with an ARC copy of Real Like Daydreams, which releases on October 27th.

Five stars - Real Like Daydreams is pure perfection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh holy wow. Julien!!!!! He is so so so much more than I’d expected, and I had high hopes for him already. He’s still a little morose, and rightfully so, but he’s getting better every day. Maybe that’s got something to do with Seraphina and maybe it’s got something to do with finding himself. Either way, get ready for a rollercoaster ride while these two figure themselves out.

I won’t lie. For a heart pounding second, I was afraid I’d have to hate Sera. But she’s too honest to hate. Even if she chooses a near-stranger to bare her soul to, she can’t hurt Julien. She wants so very much for things to be real and true and forever with him, but she’s not sure he feels the same way. She needs him to know with his whole being that this is so much more than what they’ve bargained for, and it almost seems like he may feel the same way. Or does he? Because secrets come out. Hearts break…or at least crack. Doubts become louder than love. And Julien just might lose the one woman he wants more than life itself. But Elena is always our necessary kick in the tail and voice of reason, along with Lock’s help, so maybe there’s a chance at fixing things. Luckily, this entire group bands together for their own, and they’re not about to let Jules and Sera down. Nope. No way. No how.

I love this series so much and the angst that comes with Jules and Sera finding their way is so utterly perfect for their tale that I wish I could read it all over again for the first time. It’s that good. You think Elena tugged your heart apart? She and Lock were just the opening act for Jules and Sera. And you’ll love these two even more than my (now second) favorite couple, I promise.

I am so glad Julien got his own story it could all have ended so differently.
Sera and Julien, two people both broken in different ways. He is struggling with injuries from an incident that left him in hospital and isolated from his family and friends.. Sera is just as damaged, but by her family and people who should love her, but who leave her feeling she isn't enough.
Sera has her "Phantom" who saved her from spiralling when her Gran, the only person who "saw" her dies. He keeps her sane with the messages they exchange, because she can open up with the one person who seems to "get her" but she never has to face.
Julien and Sera come together when she makes a bet to fake date the broken boy to gain backing for leadership of her Drumline Troupe. Having had to stop Physio he can no longer afford, Sera takes on his treatment and they gradually fall into more than just a deal to be fake dating. She is the light in his darkness but that light hides a fragile broken girl.
Together they find the strength to face their demons and come to learn that maybe they don't have to spend life hiding in the shadows.
This is story of love for two people who have to overcome the damage inflicted by people and circumstances they can't control. I am sorry this is the last in this series but seriously if you haven't read this of the other books that came before do it now. You won't regret one minute, Julia Wolf is a master of tearing you apart, then putting you back together.

Sera and Julien's story was tragic, real, painful, and a fabulous read.

Firstly, I need to point out the big takeaway I got from this book, which was: Learning to stand up for yourself and love the body you have. Such powerful messages, and made this book so very relatable for me. It struck a chord, helping me see my imperfections in a kinder light.

Second. I loved how Seraphina and Julien initially met, and then reconnected again after months of not 'seeing each other'. It made their connection so much... more.
(I'm struggling here for a better word!)

Bonding through Sera's dark thoughts showed just how long Jules was in her corner—even if it did get him in trouble—it was the support that was needed at the time, and in the end, it made a huge difference—it really mattered.

This brings me to my next point. I'm always a fan of 'the grand gesture' and in this case, it wasn't so grand but it was very much needed.
I give Julien an A+ for his exceptional grovelling skills.

And, gah! The epilogue... was chef's kiss. Exquisite.

I'm very much looking forward to reading Savage Academy!

5+ stars, my favourite of the series.
