Rate this book
A detective with a big heart and a deadly aim. A forensic psychologist whose loyalty could get her killed. A ruthless killer out for revenge.

Denver Detective Grady Thorne has found a new home in the DPD. He has a partner he trusts, a unit he respects, and a boss he admires. Then there’s Izzy. Smart, sexy, and willing to keep things casual, the mouthwatering psychiatrist’s no-strings arrangement is all Grady needs...or so he thinks. But this reluctant detective is about to realize just how far he’ll go for the woman threatening to break through his long-standing defenses.

Dr. Isobel “Izzy” Garcia knows what it’s like to be failed by the system. Thanks to her broken past, she's gone through life refusing to let anyone get too close. Especially the sexy-as-sin Detective Thorne. Before now, their secret, friends-with-benefits agreement has given her everything she needs. But when Izzy and her estranged brother find themselves in the crosshairs of a killer, she'll do whatever it takes to protect the only family she has left. Even if it means putting her life—and heart—in Grady’s hands.

With danger knocking on Izzy’s door, Grady vows to keep her safe. But time is running out, and if they can’t find the person behind the attacks on her life in time, it’ll be too late for them all. Because the man they’re after is driven by a deep-seated revenge, and he won’t quit until Izzy’s guarded heart stops beating…forever.

short story

3.5⭐️
I thought this was well written but missing an ending. I needed more details on the case Grady and Izzy were working. A wrap up on what happened after. Unless it will be wrapped up in the next book of the series. This was my first book in the series.

too short. SPOILERS

Not enough romance. We come in to the middle of their relationship. When Izzy breaks up with Grady, he basically says oh, ok. Then, a close scare and Izzy says I love you. Grady says I love you. That’s it.

Wow thank god this book was so short but it still felt too long! What a waste of words. This writer is seriously cheesy. I thought it was maybe a one off on the last book I read but no, it’s just cheese. Apparently this translates well to a lot of people because there seems to be quite a few positive reviews here. Oh well, I’m going to be done with this author now because insta love and marriage with ho hum suspense is not my taste.

I waited for this?

Extremely short read (153 pages), filled with grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. I felt like Ms. Blakey really didn’t try with this book, and her editors followed her lead.

'The waiting is the worst'

Izzy has kept her emotions locked up tight for the last sixteen years, terrified of loving, of trusting and of losing those she cares about. But Grady has smashed his way through her walls without even trying and seeing Izzy struggle with the realisation and fight her natural instinct to run is heartbreaking. She doesn't believe she is worthy of love or capable of love, she punishes herself constantly for the guilt she feels for her brother.
I love that Grady finally scales the walls Iz has built around her heart and that she also finally manages to talk properly with her brother and finally find acceptance and closure for the horrific events that still haunt her.
I really enjoyed Izzy and Grady's story, there are however a number of typos which are disruptive and frustrating.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Dr. Isobel ‘Izzy’ Garcia is still haunted by guilt from a 17-year-old trauma and a nightmare that would’ve been much worse if her brother Olly hadn’t arrived and eliminated the problem. The trauma keeps Izzy aloof when dealing with others, including the no strings relationship with Det, Grady Thorne Izzy ended when she felt chains linking her to Grady.

Arresting a gang member who wants a deal puts Grady on the trail of Olly’s boss, a notorious but ‘untouchable’ crime boss on local and FBI radar. Learning Izzy’s on the fringe of the investigation spurs Grady to protection mode; he’s very aware it’ll hurt since his idea of changing their no-strings arrangement was linking them together, forever, if possible.

This shorter outing still carried a full plot for the leads but the ending felt rushed. What was missing was filler information on another couple or minutiae for the leads (fine by me). The leads, hmmm, umm, hmmm, they were okay but this reader didn’t get passion or maybe it was chemistry between the pair, either way they felt a bit light.

Izzy and Grady

This was such a beautiful, heartbreaking story. Dr. Isobel Garcia rose above her traumatic past to become a psychiatrist that helps others. She works closely with Denver PD and the Denver office of the FBI. Grady Thorne is a detective in the Major Crimes Unit. They mutually decided to have a no strings attached "relationship". That was fine until Izzy abruptly ended things. Grady is trying to honor her wishes but he can't. When he wasn't looking, she burrowed her way into his heart. A series of events forces Izzy to re examine her way of thinking. They have a lot of things to deal with to get the HEA they deserve... including a bad guy who is determined not to be brought to justice. Will they succeed, or does evil triumph over love? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.

Marked For Danger is a great addition to the Marked series. It's a quick read with suspense, danger and some fast action. Grady Thorne and Dr. Isobel Garcia are in a non-relationship relationship. Strictly no strings, no commitment but lots of spicy encounters. Everything is on the downlow because they do work together. Izzy's past dictates her present and future. Grady thought he wasn't a relationship guy but Izzy's got him rethinking that. However, she cuts him off at the knees when she walks away. Taking down a drug and human trafficker puts these two in close proximity again and a serious threat has Izzy reconsidering her loveless life. All Grady wants is to keep her safe and will go to any length to make that happen.

Short but sweet. Two commitment phobs find an unexpected love.

Grady and Izzy begin a friend with benefits relationship. But soon, Izzy gets cold feet and walks away. When someone takes a shot at her and puts her life in danger, she realizes life is shot. She wants a chance at happily ever after, and she wants it with Grady.

With her brother put undercover to expose his boss's misdeeds and her friends in the line of fire, the suspense builds as she waits for word that it's over.

The suspense is good with the hero coming to the rescue in the 11th hour. Izzy still held her own using her background to help her stall for the rescue. Strong characters, strong story, just needs to be fluffed out a little more.

I loved the first 4 books of this series and was so excited for this one. However, I was a little disappointed. To me, it seemed shorter than I remember the others being. I didn’t feel there was enough interaction between the two main characters. The first half of the book felt like filler. And, I was kind of disappointed that the owner of Sin wasn’t involved in this one like he’d been in previous books. He brought an added element that I thought was missing from this one. Also, there were several typos. This, combined with my previous disappointments, made this book feel rushed. I hope book 6 is an improvement.

I have been a fan of the Marked series since the beginning and had been looking forward to reading Grady and Izzy's story ever since Marked for Obsession. Sadly this is not one of my favorites. I have to be honest in my review that this story feels rushed. The characters and storyline were not developed enough and what could have been a great story was only mediocre. Also there are a lot of errors in the book. I hope that the author will clean it up for future readers. There is only a bit of heat and the action scenes were very predictable. I would normally rate this less but I am hopeful that the book will be cleaned up in the future.

I would say this book is not a standalone, because Grady and Izzy has been dancing around each other since previous book. Both obviously attract to each other and enter casual relationship (both agree to it, not "i'll take what you can give me"). The chemistry build up and now Grady want more, but Izzy is very reluctant to do so.

This book is "meh", although I've read the previous books. The chemistry between Grady and Izzy bigger in previous books, that not sit well with me. The ending not as suspense or romantic as it should be, more like "closure for those who curious in their relationship".

When danger follows

Dr. Isobella Garcia/Izzy and Grady. Their attraction starts off on one level and then unbeknownst to them both emotions join the conversation. Work of course takes a role and that means danger for both as they are trying to connect a dangerous man to many crimes. Izzys role progresses because of a sibling that is somehow connected to the bad guy. It quickly is obvious that not everything by is as it seems and the brother is a hero and great guy, Izzy and Grady are in love, and the bad guy actually knows about all three people. The ending is tense and then sweet. I hope we see more of the team, but also of Olly!

Another interesting and exciting plot in this series full of great characters and intense situations. It held my attention throughout, gave me a wonderful escape as I dived deep and invested myself in the characters survival. As always I read it to fast and it def6left me wanting more. Issy is strong and despite her younger life experiences has grown up to be well respected in her field, I hope now she has reconnected with Olly that they can finally be happy right along with Grady. Nasty bad man got just desserts. Love this series.

I enjoy short reads every once in awhile and this one was very good. Anna Blakely weaves an awesome story of mystery, suspense and steamy romance. Isobel Garcia has a no relationship policy and she wants to end her “friends with benefits” with Grady Thorne because it’s what she does. They come closer together when he is trying to end the corruption of drugs and human trafficking and enlists the help of her estranged brother. So far I’ve read all of this series and Anna does not disappoint. Can’t wait till Ivan Petrov story.

good story; not such great editing

Liking the series, but wondering who edits these things. In one scene, the FMC is wearing one thing and 4 pages later, she’s wearing something else. The name of a restaurant changes (and becomes grammatically incorrect)…a fair number of spelling errors toward the end…and we don’t even find out what happened to the officer that was outside the FMC’s place.

Also seems like a lot of significant side characters get introduced, but the next one in the series isn’t about any of them.

Quick read

## Good read. I liked it. However, this book was much shorter than the others. Apprx 140 pages. To be honest, it was rushed. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good read, just too short. Izzy and Grady are already 2 or 3 months into their relationship when the book begins so we don't get to experience them getting to know each other. No build up whatsoever, hence the one star deduction. They do have great chemistry and were both very likeable characters. So there's that.

Grady & Izzy

I enjoyed this little addition to the Marked Series. I have loved Grady from the start and was pleased to see him get his happy ever after with Izzy. Yes the book is shorter than the other ones, but let’s be honest here, all good books are too short. Plus the author has stated that she intends to revise the book in the future which of course once she does I’ll do a re-read, probably of the whole series.

I’ve loved the Marked series from the start but Marked For Danger is more of a novella than a full blown story. I am always left wanting more but feel that Grady & Izzy definitely deserved (& have) more of a story than was written. They are both commitment-phobes that started as friends with benefits & no strings until Izzy haunted by her past gets cold feet & ends the arrangement making Grady realise just how much he has come to care for her. When Izzy’s involvement in a case both reconnects her to her estranged brother & places her in danger, she reevaluates her life & relationship with Grady. Can Grady keep Izzy safe so they can try again?
It was short, & although I enjoyed it, Grady & Izzy needed more time together in the story, some more action & intrigue & more heat/romance so I hope it gets a re-write and more developed at some point. It would also have benefitted from a better proof read too. Now looking forward to Ivan’s story.

I have loved the Marked series so far. Marked for Danger is a short story, but it is filled with suspense. Grady and Izzy’s love story was sweet but rushed. Izzy is able to overcome emotions from trans that she experienced as a teenager. It is great how she is reunited with her brother. Anna Blakely writes great romantic suspense. I couldn’t put it down today. I can’t wait for the next book.

So I liked this book, but didn't love it. I enjoyed both Grady and Izzy's characters. The plot and the writing were solid as well. Where this fell short for me was the "friends with benefits" part of the plot. These two obviously cared for one another, but couldn't say the words to move past their original agreement. It got monotonous as the book went on.

I'll hold out for the next book - Ivan's story - and hope for the best.

I love the Marked Series. Reading Izzy and Grady’s Story was so exciting. Working through their relationship and her past throughout the book kept me reading. Anna has done a marvelous job in telling the story of these two and we will find that sometimes justice hasn’t been served right. I loved Ollie’s character as well and hope Anna will come back with him further down the series.

This is a quick instalment in this series. Grady and Izzy are having a no strings relationship when the intensity of their lives starts to take off. It's a fast paced story that takes you through all the emotions of a relationship. I really enjoy this series and these characters. I love watching them fall.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Marked for Danger

This story is about Grady and Izzy. The beginning is interesting and it gets progressively more intense! We get to meet her brother and Grady likes him right at the gitgo. The villain came close to getting Izzy but as always the good guys come to the rescue. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would recommend this book! Can't wait for the next book!

I usually love Anna Blakely's books. The story itself was good and had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, reading it felt like there wasn't enough time to properly write the story. It felt rushed. There were also many spelling and even logic errors. This was not the case with previous books. Hopefully the next book will be better. I'll definitely try it.

It's seems everywhere I've looked that if you download a version of this book you don't get the complete book. On Amazon it says it's 154 pages in paperback but everyone that downloaded it instead only got about 90 pages. It completely cut off. Quite a few people don't seem to understand this in in their reviews on Amazon but the way it cuts off its beyond obvious what happened.

Good read

This is a really good read, but it definitely needs a better proofreader. Misspellings abound and in one spot the character's clothes miraculous my change from one paragraph to the next. Book was a bit short. A little more story development would be nice.

wish it was longer

I loved this little short story about Grady and Izzy but I wish we could have had their story from their very beginning. I like the build up but this was still very good.
