5 star Review One More Chance (Carson Brothers #1) by Stina Lindenblatt
Where do I start? I was hooked from the first chapter and read this one in one go. I simly couldn’t put it down. This was a well written, emotional second chance at love story which ticked all the boxes for me.
This book made me laugh, it made me cry and it had me on the edge of my seat whilst reading. When Simone Hensley’s grandmother has an accident she returns to her home town, a place she has avoided for many years. One of the first people she sees is the man who she was in love with, Lucas Carson, her late brothers best friend and the man who was her everything.
Now years later the past is about to catch up with both of them. What will happen when the secrets of the past come to light? Will it bring them together or rip them apart? There were so many twists and turns and the suspense and mystery built thoroughbred,
A well written, strong story with a cast of characters who were easy to relate to and entertaining. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Readers looking for an engaging story, with a heartwarming romance set in a small town, get all that and more with this series starter that ticked many boxes for me. The storyline was one full of twists and turns, turns that were both suspenseful and romantic, turns that brought a tear to my eye while putting a smile on my face. In this story of second chances readers will find themselves captivated from the first page to the last, cheering this couple on as they find their way back to each other after years of emotional pain.

Lucas Carson and Simone Hensley were once in love, tightly bound together before her brother Aiden and he were deployed to Afghanistan and everything turned bad for the young couple. War is hell at times and it left Lucas and Aiden with PTSD...seemingly leading to Aiden's suicide and years of Lucas and Simone not talking. Her returning home to care for her injured grandmother though leads to her reuniting with Lucas at a time when he needs her help most...when he's been framed for a crime he didn't commit. Just as he needs her to convey an image of a responsible family man, she needs him for the same to get her online business off the ground which leads to a fake relationship that slowly turns oh so real once again. Theirs is a bumpy journey to HEA, one that has them addressing their painful pasts in an attempt to move forward. The issues dealt with here are realistic and a big part of today's culture. The fallout from these issues was heartbreaking, led to years of loneliness, and I hurt alongside this couple as they talked through their pasts to find healing. The mystery surrounding the crime Lucas is accused of is intriguing, the guilty party well-disguised, and the REAL reason behind it surprisingly connected to the past in a storyline that kept me frantically turning the pages.

On a whole this was an immensely satisfying series starter with a very likable main couple who get put through the wringer to reach their HEA. The mystery and suspense was fresh and well-crafted with a nicely balanced romance that was sweet and sensual. The secondary characters were also strong with delightful and supportive banter between the brothers. Those looking for a well-rounded read will definitely want to add this one to their bookshelf while waiting to see where life takes these brothers next!

I did not expect for it to be such a suspenseful read, it had be on my toes the whole time!! I’m super excited to see what happens in the next couple of books, I am already in love with all the brothers and I can’t wait to see what we get with their story like.
• {ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀs} In this story we are introduced to Lucas & Simone. I absolutely love these two together, they’re reconnection was just perfect, they are perfect. They went through such traumatic events that reading it and seeing how they react and connect with it was just super intense and interesting. They’ve gone through all these things apart but they love hard and understand each others pain. I really loved how much they care about each other even after being a part for so long. I wish I got to see more of them fully and actually together for real.
• {sᴘɪᴄᴇ} Does have some nice spicy scenes, they just know what each other like.

Wow …… what a fantastic start to the new Carson Brothers Series
From the moment I picked this book up I knew I was reading something very special, I was captivated from the first page and there was no putting down until the final line had been read. I loved everything about Simone Hensley and Lucas Carson’s second chance at love.
Simone is only home because her grandmother has had an accident, she had no intention of returning to the town she has avoided returning to for years and the first person she bumps into is the man she wanted to avoid at all costs, the man who broke her heart …..Lucas Carson.
Lucas was best friends with Simone’s late brother and it seems he has also been keeping secrets over the years so what happens when secrets are revealed will Simone and Lucas be honest with each other and hopefully get the HEA they deserve or will the past be hard to forget. One click to find out…..
This is an emotional yet entertaining read, it’s a romance with all the feels, I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I swooned and I spent most of the read on the edge of my seat as negotiated the twists and turns this couple went through. I’m so excited for what’s to come next in this series.

This is the 1st in a new series, and this is Lucas and Simone’s journey. Lucas was Simone’s brothers’ best friend whom she loved and sent letters to when he was deployed. When Simone’s grandma has an accident, she returns to her hometown that she has avoided for the past 10-years. Lucas is being framed and needs Simone’s help. This is a well written story which is well paced, a small-town romance, with 2nd chances, emotions, suspense, intrigue, danger, mystery, humor, witty banter, heartbreak, secrets, trauma, and love, which leads to a spicy story which had me on tenterhooks throughout.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This book made me so emotional in the best way! Lucas and Simone were secret lovers a long time ago. A tragedy brings Simone home where Lucas comes crashing back into her life. These two have such an intense past. They both have secrets and someone is trying to frame Lucas for a crime he didn't commit. They make the decision to support each other, and they reconnect in an explosion of sparks! I really enjoyed this second chance story!

This is the first book I read by the author and fell in love with her writing style and storyline. It's a read that was nothing less than a emotional rollercoaster there was so much pain, sorrow but there is hope and love as well. It's much more than about second chance at love. It's about family, losing your loved ones, the after effects of war not just on the person but everyone connected to that individual.

Lucas and Simone never got a chance to express there love ten years ago. While both have moved on Lucas is unaware of yet another loss in his life that Simone still grieves. After returning to Maple Ridge they end up having a marriage of convenience but it isn't easy to protect your heart from the one it belongs to.

I loved how they rediscovered their love. Things are never easy in life but you cannot build a marriage on secrets. They both need to face their demons to move forward in life. It was amazing how they understood each other and supported specially everything going on with the mysterious person trying to frame Lucas.

I respected and loved Simone for supporting Lucas through his flashes, not judging him for the trauma not many can understand and supporting him through his pain even when she was suffering without anyone knowing. I was in awe with their bond and the deep love they had for each other.

Maybe Lucas shouldn't have reacted the way he did when he finds out the truth about Lily but honestly I felt like everyone should have been a bit easy on him. Simone had years of processing everything but he learned everything after yet another loss. He needed a bit time to process everything and once he did he was there to support her. No one can even compare the amount of loss or grief Simone went through but it wasn't just her loss.

I just wished Aiden hadn't lost his life. I would have loved to know him. Cannot wait to read the books of Carson siblings.

Thanks to WildfireMarketing and Stina for the advanced copy for a honest review 😊.

This is the first time I've read a book by this author, but it has the catnip of romantic tropes; brothers best friend, second chance, military/PTSD with some suspense thrown in too. Plus that beautiful cover, I couldn't wait to start this!

Simone and Lucas were in a secret relationship with one another, and even though they hide it, they knew they were each others person. Lucas enlisted with Simones brother, Aiden, and life seemed to be perfect.. until tragedy struck all around them. Now both Simone and Lucas are back home at the same time and it seems like life isn't done screwing them over-- Lucas is being framed for a crime he didn't commit and needs to be painted as an upstanding citizen (even though his military background and all the good he's done since should have been enough, but i digress.) He needs to look like a family man, so he has the brilliant idea of asking Simone to be in a fake relationship with him. He's never gotten over her, and blames himself for what happened with her brother, and doesn't understand why she stopped talking to him. But he finally has another chance and he's going to do everything in his power to prove they are meant to be.

I loved Lucas so much, but my heart really went out to Simone. She was head over heels in love with Lucas, and then she found out she was pregnant, she couldn't wait to tell him. Then she gets in a car accident that not only takes their babies life, but her uterus as well. To say she didn't handle it well is an understatement, and she was buried in guilt and anger so she thought the only way to heal was to walk away from the man she loved. She dealt with this all on her own (even in present day nobody in her family or those in town are aware of what happened) and then she lost her brother as well. I just wanted to curl this young woman in my arms and protect her heart from anymore pain. I can't even imagine all that trauma. And then she's bombarded with all the feelings she's kept hidden when she comes back home and sees Lucas again. And then the feels really take off!

I loved Lucas and Simones journey back together, and even though it was a bumpy ride, they made it work. You could just feel their connection and the passion they had for one another, and I just loved every minute. Plus the twists and turns started and let me tell you, I was glued to my kindle. Yall definitely don't want to miss out on this one!!

If you’re looking for a touching, heart wrenching, sometimes confronting, beautiful romance read, then I recommend you check out One More Chance. Both of these gorgeous people were handed some pretty soul crushing things to deal with, and even though they didn’t always handle things in the best way, they always felt very real to me. I went through having my heart ache for the past hurts that they kept buried inside, grinning at how completely sweet and spicy they were, and loving the mystery/conspiracy storyline.

With both Simone and Lucas being put through traumatic events before their young relationship could even be fully established, Simone retreated into herself and avoided Lucas. After his own trauma, Lucas accepted the distance that Simone put between them. Ten years later, disturbing events bring them back together and they amicably agree to marriage for practical reasons. This may have seemed a little quick or far fetched, but I got the sense that even if they couldn’t see it at the time, they still loved each other. They both had spent ten years struggling, and knew in their hearts that no one else was an option for them. They both had a lot to work through, but keeping their pain hidden had become their norm, so opening up to each other did not come easy. Added to all that was the craziness going on with Lucas being framed, and Simone’s grandmother being hurt.
There really was a lot going on in this story, and I just could not put it down. It was paced well, with things developing in a genuine way. The investigation into who framed Lucas, with his court date looming, and why someone would attack Simone’s grandmother, had me questioning things right till the end. Can’t wait for the next one.

This is book one in The Carson Brother's Series and it is Lucas and Simone's story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Lucas and Simone have history as they had a secret affair year's ago and now they meet again but things are very different. Simone's grandmother has been involved in a bit and run accident so she has gone to spend time to help her even though this is the last place that she wants to be as it holds some very painful memories. Lucas has been framed for something that he definitely didn't do but some how he needs to get to the bottom of it so that he can bring the culprit to justice and clear his name at the same time. When Simone and Lucas meet again after so many year's things are not easy but they decide to work together to see what is going on and that is how she finds herself in a fake marriage to the man that she used to be in love with but will they be able to get the second chance that they both deserve especially as they both have demons, baggage and are a bit broken. This book takes you on a emotional journey that will have you in tears but I still couldn't put it down as it was so addictive along with twists and turns that have you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I was graciously given this book as an ARC

One More Chance, book 1 of the Carson Brothers Series. Out 9/22

Lucas has been in love with his best friends sister for as long as he can remember. Living his best life after medically discharging from the Marines, until he finds him self being charged for a crime he didn't commit. With his life falling apart all around him, he runs into the one person he thought he'd never see again.

Simone has had her heart broken from losing her brother. She packed up her life and ran away from the town that took everything from her. Her life seems to be going in the right direction until she gets a call that changes everything. She finds herself going back to the one place she wanted to stay away from, taking care of her grandmother.

Who says you cant have mystery , small town, and romance in one book! This one had me hooked from the first page. Simone and her struggles with her past traumas was heartbreaking. Something about a sexy marine (i blame my husband for setting the standard) has me swooning over Lucas. Their journey back to each other was everything. This one has all the feels in it.

There is some trigger content in this; child loss, ptsd, suicide, mental health.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. I actually started with the prequel One More Moment. So I came into this book knowing that these two would hold my heart. There was so much love written in these pages that I couldn't help loving all the characters. Not just Simone and Lucas but their group of friends and family.

Lucas and Simone have been in love for years. But tragedy and lack of communication kept them apart. Now they are finally back together, even if it was an unconventional start.

I loved these two. Their struggles were real, their feelings were strong and emotions were high. I just wish they had come back together sooner. I wish they hadn't had to suffer alone. I also wish that Simone hadn't taken one idiots opinion and twisted it to believe Lucas would feel the same way. Everything worked out in the end but wow was it a crazy roller coaster to get there. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more in this series.

This is the story about Simone and Lucas and their struggle to their happily ever after.
Simone and Lucas were together when they were younger, Simone still a teenager, Lucas already in the Marines. Lucas did his time together with Simone’s older brother. Both came back from their last mission with PTSD, which ended badly for Simone’s brother.
During that time, they lost track of each other and years just passed on by.
Now ten years later, they run into each other again in their hometown. Lucas needs a huge favor to get to finalize his dream.
Eventually this favor turns into more, old feelings coming back, maybe never even left. Together they have to overcome so many things, but everything was worth it in the end.

This book was such an easy-read, the characters really came to life, their problems maybe not seen on a daily base, but still you can relate to them.
The way Simone and Lucas come back together has it struggles, learning to trust each other again after everything that happened, and learning to open up and tell your secrets close to your heart.

This book keeps you on a roller coaster of suspense, mystery, and romance all in one book. The main characters Simone and Lucas had a relationship 10 years ago. Lucas is Simone's dead brothers best friend. Simone's brother Aiden and Lucas both came back from war with PTSD. Simone had left town and came back. Lucas and his brother are trying to buy some land and Lucas needs a wife so Simone agrees to become his wife so that he can get the land. As time goes on Simone and Lucas start to get closer. The book is very slow but has a lot going on in the plot. I enjoyed the book but did confused a few times and had to go back and reread things in the book at times because of the way they plot is and all the information the author put in this book. I think that this book should have been put into 2 books because it would have been easier to read and less confusing and not as slow. I do recommend this book but beware if you get triggered from PTSD, talk of suicide, death of babies due to accidents, and lots of anger.- Kristina

To start with, this is my first read from this author and OMG!!!! One More Chance took me COMPLETELY by surprise in the BEST way!!! This older brother's best friend, marriage-of-convenience, second chance love story has it ALL!!! I LOVE how this story hooked me right from the start and had me in it's grip throughout a suspense-filled, sometimes difficult (heartbreaking and emotional), soul-shattering and steamy MUST READ!!! There are some INTENSE situations that were so well written and handled with such sensitivity, respect and love that make this story so believable!

From laughter to tears, from edge-of-your-seat suspense to heart wrenching angst with a healthy dose of steam thrown in, if THIS is what I've been missing with Ms. Lindenblatt, I will add her to my auto one-click author list (it was THAT good!!!) I look forward to reading the next book in this series! It can't come soon enough!

One More Chance is the first book of The Carson Brothers Series, and can i just say it was a page turner. This small town, marriage of convenience, best friends sister, second chance, ex military romance was full of suspense, love, hope, second chances, rollercoaster of emotions and a crazy plot twist. This book had me laughing with the witty banter between Simone, Lucas and their friends, but it also had me crying. Both of these characters struggled due to traumatic situations in their lives. TW: loss of child, loss of family, PTSD, but the story was so well written and delivered that it kept me engaged and wanting more. These two broken souls who had been apart for 10 years find themselves again through each other and heal each other at the same time. I can’t wait to see a continuation of their story popping in and out through the other books to come. One More Chance is a TBR must.

This is a heartbreaking story with Simone and Lucas. He was her brother's best friend who suffered from PTSD after returning from his military deployment and lost his life. She and Lucas shared a secret relationship that resulted in her becoming pregnant and lost the baby in a automobile accident while he was deployed. She stopped writing him and never explained why and now he is back with trouble from some unknown people and wants her help by being his fake wife in hopes he and his brothers can buy the land they want to build a center to help other vets. What does the future hold for Simone and Lucas?.

This book has it all: romance, suspense/mystery, danger, and so much more. I was going through so many emotions reading this. I cried, I laughed, and I freaked out, but not in a good way. You'll see what I mean when you read it.

I loved every single character on each page of this book, but my favorite characters were of course...the two main ones. They went through so much together, and I truly thought that their story was beautiful. I also have to admit that it was a little sad too, but that just made it more beautiful, and real.

I absolutely loved One More Chance, and I think you will too.

What a great start to a new series! I’m REALLY excited about the Cason Brothers! Simone is heading back home to care for her grandma. She knows going back is going to bring back a lot of memories, both good and bad. Lucas is former military and has a lot of demons. When he sees Simone…his best friends sister…the girl who stole his heart a long time ago. One thing leads to another and these two are over their heads with drama. I enjoyed this book sooo much. The brothers banter and protectiveness has me wanting to know everything about their individual stories. This story had me hooked and addicted on page one! I’m already ready for the next book in this amazing new series.

I really enjoyed Lucas and Simone's story. This book is emotional and my heart broke for Simone for everything that she's had to go through alone. But I loved her grandmother's character. Talk about a spitfire. Lucas was in love with his best friend's sister and not wanting to rock the boat they kept their relationship hidden, but after Simone's letters stopped coming he thought she moved on. These two reunite after Simone comes home to take care of her grandma. I did not expect the suspense in this book, but I love how fiercely devoted these two are with each other. I was intrigued from the start. The side characters were great and makes my anticipate the next Carson brother book.

First book in this new series and am looking forward to read more from it. She was his bestfriends sister so she was off limits, however they could not help how they felt. He was deployed she kept writing to him until one day that she stop all communications. Years later she is back in town and they see each other for the first time, within 24 hours of reuniting they are engaged. What starts as a business arrangement turns in to a whole lot more.

This book deals with issues that affect people everyday…child loss, infertility and PTSD. It was difficult at times to read how Simone and Lucas each had their own struggles. It was beautiful to witness how they overcame the obstacles and learned to lean on each other and love each other. It was also nice to know that they had a great circle of friends rooting for them and supporting them. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I’m anxious to know which character is next!!.

Wonderful second chance

When Simone returns to her hometown, she avoided for a long time the first person she comes to face with is Lucas Carson. Her late brother's best friend and the man she saw in secret and was so in love with.

But today she suffers from a painful event, and Lucas as a former Military has a lot of demons of his own.

When they meet again, they learn that old feelings are still there.

Now there are secrets that are that could come to light that had the ability to tear them apart for good. And an unknown person is determined to hang on a crime to Lucas which he didn't commit.

There are many heartbreaking moments to read and witness and of course a lot of heartwarming too. It has all a good book need. Love, tragedy, hurt and a little crime.

Made me laugh, sigh and cry a lot.

This was a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from in the future if she does more like this.
When I first started reading I thought I had misjudged the blurb and it was going to be lighter than I normally enjoy reading.
I'm so glad I was right.
This book will send you on a rollercoaster of emotions with no safety bar, with lovable characters and a plot full of twists you won't see coming.
I found myself unable to put it down once I started.

What a mind twister story! Lucas and Simone were secret high school sweethearts, when he left and joined the army with her brother Aiden. Fast forward a few years and they meet again and turmoil will follow them around . This emotional roller coaster ride will take you through twist and turns that you will not see coming. I absolutely fell in love with these characters and their struggles and volunteered to review their story.

This book has lots of mystery, action and adventure! I was hooked after the first few chapters and couldn't wait to unravel the mystery around the narcotics.
