Crunch, the Crocodile is hungry and as he looks for something to eat he chants "Crunch and Munch, crunch and munch. My name is Crunch and I want my lunch." It is a silly tale that children love to hear. By the end of the book they are chanting along.
This chant can be written on chart paper to help children learn to read. My children loved pointing to the words as they chanted. Soon they were able to read the words and quickly began using those words in their writing.
The illustrations are beautiful.
This makes a good book to read as part of a unit study about crocodiles or reptiles in general.
This is a silly little book about teamwork that, for reasons unknown to me, really seems to resonate with little kids. Crunch the crocodile torments the other wildlife and they decide to fight back. Maybe they love the idea of conquering the big bully? It would be interesting to ask a child what they think the crocodile is thinking and feeling. It could lead to a great discussion. There are also great examples of alliteration and onomatopoeias. And I like the realistic illustrations.
This fable is about a crocodile who spends every day terrifying all the creatures around him. He is selfish and does not care for others. But one day the creatures stand up and scare him away to teach him a lesson that everyone is equal and nobody should over power others.
