Great for anyone starting a remodel project
I highly recommend this book to anyone starting a "remodel" project. My wife and I remodeled a home three years ago and I really wish we had started with the perspective that this book adds. Virginia and Colby go into depth covering all the ins and outs of home decorating. The book discusses textures, styles, and colors in detail. This is an enjoyable read that will help you make your home more elegant, welcoming, and beautiful. Again, great book!!

needs more pictures
I wish there were more pictures. Being that interior design is a very visual art, I was disappointed that this ebook was WORDS. The only pictures for the first half of the book came at the start of a chapter, and were simply of beautiful rooms. I would have preferred an image to help drive home every idea (like showing the textures) and make designing a room easier to visualize.
However, the ideas of the book are simple to read and well thought out. My favorite part is the detailed explanation of colors.

Well written, well researched, outstanding book.
I have read numerous books on design and space during my MA research, but this is one of the best. I learned a great deal from it, and was reminded in a far clearer way than I have been before what I forgot. I especially liked how the author does not just tell you space and design aspects, but instead shows you how to reflect on them in a deep and life changing way. I can not recommend this book enough and I feel anyone could benefit from it. It is a must read for design students on any level and also design professors or anyone teaching design because of the way this author writes, teaches, and lights the way for others by showing not just telling.

Just no. The information is not useful or is misleading. For example, in one part the author talks about how a kitchen has mostly hard surfaces. In the section on color the author says that bright colors are the warms colors. This is not the book if you are looking to understand color theory. Also, the photos are from free stock photo websites. I also did not enjoy the writing style. I prefer other design books.

Inspired now to reinvent a few corners of my home starting with my home office! Just gorgeous suggestions, love how well the book is written. Great pictures to gather good decor ideas. A well done book, helpful and beautiful.

Serious book. Like a college text. So it’s great lessons but about 10 pictures in the whole book. If you’re visual this book is not for you

Great Practical Tips and Photo Examples
