Snow Fun!

Maisy wakes up to find her world has been transformed by snow. When she goes outside, she discovers how cold it is, but also the fun of snow sledding. Maisy goes to the park where she finds many of her friends playing. As the group works together, they create a fort, and a snow statue. They have a good time racing their sleds.

After a full day, the dark and cold cause the friends to leave the park, but the pleasure continues as everyone goes to Maisy’s house to get warm.

Most children are fascinated with snow whether they have seen it or not. This picture book will be well-liked because of the snow subject. Little ones will love seeing the pictures of sledding, building things and just playing in all that cold wetness. Colorful illustrations will bring the children’s activities alive. This five-star tale will be a popular choice for children aged three through seven-years-old.

Maisy wakes up to see that it is snowing outside! She bundles up warm and ventures out into the cold to meet her friends at the park. They throw snowballs, build a snowman, make a snow fort, and go sledding down the big hill. When they get too cold, they all go inside for some hot cocoa.

This book is so cute and sweet! Maisy and her friends are adorable!

I love the crayon art style and how simple the artwork is. There are lots of little details in the background that make every page special. The art style is just right for little readers, with lots of bright colors to capture their attention. This book is so cute!

This was so delightful. I loved these books as a child and rereading as an adult was utterly wonderful. The illustrations are so cute and joyful. And it felt like a celebration of all that's good. Reminded me of the joy of a snow day as a kid, made me appreciate and look foward to snow again and vow to make a snowman and enjoy the cold.

MAISY'S SNOWY DAY is a cute Maisy story about all the fun of playing in the snow with friends. Maisy wakes up in the morning to a surprise - it has snowed! She feeds the birds and grabs her sled to meet her friends at the park. Once there, they make a snow Maisy, throw snowballs, make a snow fort, and race sleds down the hill. At the end of the day, they head inside for some hot chocolate!

What I loved: Maisy is such a great character for toddlers and preschoolers. With good friends that make recognizable characters, this is a great series for young learners to recognize and explore across stories. The simplified language explains the story in terms that little ones can easily understand. Bold colors and simple illustrations bring the book to life for little ones to explore. This is a delightful winter story that brings all the joy of snow to life through Maisy and her friends. The story spends a day with Maisy as she sees and enjoys the snow, plays with friends, and finally finishes the day cozy and warm. This is a very comforting and cute wintery picture book.

What left me wanting more: Throughout the book, the font remains black, and while the style is okay, the color is very hard to read on a few pages with darker color backgrounds (such as a darker blue and green) that makes it difficult to read in low light, such as at bedtime. It would have been helpful to switch to white font on these pages to improve readability.

Final verdict: MAISY'S SNOWY DAY is a cute and brightly colored adventure in wintertime with the beloved characters, Maisy and friends. Toddlers and preschoolers are such to enjoy this read!

When Maisy wakes up and snow has fallen, she spends the day outside with her friends doing various winter activities like feeding the birds, sledding, and throwing snowballs. As thier day ends, they head for the welcoming lights of her house and some treats together.

This title is part of the Maisy First Experiences Book series. It makes a great read aloud for a social story about winter with young children. The book would be a great addition to preschool or Kindergarten curriculum as it could be a great starting point for discussion and art about winter activities. The children in my winter story programs loved the story, the colorful illustrations held their attention throughout the program, and sparked some great discussion about what other winter things Maisy might do.

I would recommend this book for purchase by elementary school and public libraries. The book is a reinforced trade edition which will make it sturdier for library use.

Depend on Maisy to make sense of another big experience in the life of a preschooler. In Maisy’s Snowy Day, a snowy day is a good time to meet up with friends. She finds her friends at the park, Charley and Tallulah, Eddie and Cyril. They make a snow mouse, build a fort and go sledding. When everyone is cold and wet, they head to Maisy’s house for hot chocolate.

Cousins’ familiar animal friends are rendered in her signature style, with goauche paint art in mainly primary colors, made expressive by the black outlines. The cozy day of playing in the snow has the excitement of a big raucous sledding upset where everyone ends up in a snowbank, but no one gets hurt. This is a sweet addition to the Maisy pantheon, either for lap reading or story time.

Reviewing the eBook version: Both online and on an iPad, the two page spread is available, though on the iPad, in order to get the width of the illustrations there is blank screen space above and below.

This is a "talk about book" rather than a book with a plot - gives the opportunity to increase a child's vocabulary with descriptive words (the snow crunches) and verbs / action. It also gives a toddler who has rare experience with snow a context.

Maisy has a large number of titles written about her activities, but this is the first one I have read. It won’t be the last. This is a fun story about snow activities with Maisy and her many friends. I especially I enjoyed the illustration showing Maisy pulling her sled to the park because the sound word scrunch word is written by the footsteps. . .the exact sound one hears when you walk n snow. More Maisy for me! Oh, and I like the bright primary colors.

Maisy is back with all her friends on a snow day, this book takes you through a typical snow day and is fun to see the similarities to a kids snow day.

One of many in the Maisy’s First books, will be reading more with my son
