Ever since I started learning about content marketing, Content Marketing Institute and Joe Pulizzi have been indispensable sources of knowledge. In a world of ‘hacks’ and ‘tricks,’ Pulizzi’s work has always been focused on the things that don’t change: the strategic value content can bring for both the audiences and the business.

This much-needed update on a classic content marketing read happens thanks to Brian Piper, and he'll have my undying gratitude for that!

Read my full review and key takeaways here: https://valchanova.me/epic-content-ma...

If you’re just starting in content marketing, this is a handy manual to develop the right mindset. A mindset that will enable you to focus on strategy and long-term success.

If, like me, you’ve been steeped into content marketing for a good few years, it’s still a wonderful reminder that what you’re doing is right. There are content marketers out there focusing on the long game and delivering results that way. I predict that ‘Epic Content Marketing’ will be your trusted guide, too.

Creating epic content marketing is definitely a challenging feat. As marketers, we need to sharpen our skills continuously. We must build a better understanding of what resonates with our audiences. It’s about constantly learning and finding suitable sources to learn from. ‘Epic Content Marketing’ is one of these sources.

Read on and be epic!

Familiar, yet fresh. That's what you can expect from Epic Content Marketing: Second Edition.

If you read the first one, you probably know most of the lessons and examples. This particular edition brings more than just an update to old stories. It brings modern platforms that matter to content marketers, including AI, Web3, and the Creator Economy.

It's easy to jump around the book according to topics that interest you most. Every section is self-contained and clear.

I've read all of Joe Pulizzi's books, including his fiction novel. I knew I would enjoy this book and I did. Congratulations to Brian Piper who delivered some excellent chapters and a fresh perspective as a marketing practitioner.

I had the chance to read the digital pre-release copy of the book: "Epic Content Marketing", Second Edition, and I must say that it is a must-read for any marketer looking to stay current and relevant in the world of content marketing.

As the name suggests, the book is all about creating epic content that captures the attention of your audience and keeps them engaged. They provide a wealth of practical advice and real-world examples that show you how to make the most of the various content marketing techniques and platforms today.

One of the things I appreciated about this book is that it is fully revised and updated, so it includes all of the latest content marketing trends and tools, including Web3. The authors cover all the important social media platforms that have arisen over the past eight years, and they introduce the "creator economy" and the importance of community, DAOs, and creator networks.

The book also covers new content models, structures, and opportunities, as well as content entrepreneurship, content mergers and acquisitions, subscriptions, and audience building. The authors provide practical advice on team structure and making data-driven decisions to optimize content performance.

Overall, I found this book to be a comprehensive guide to content marketing that is informative and engaging. It is well-written, easy to read, and full of actionable advice that any marketer can use to improve their content marketing strategy. If you're looking to stay ahead of the curve in content marketing, I highly recommend giving "Epic Content Marketing, Second Edition" a read.

The book launch website grabs us immediately with:

From the “godfather of content marketing”―this completely revised and expanded edition brings marketers fully up to date on the newest content marketing methods and tools, including Web3. Joe Pulizzi and Brian Piper team up to bring “THE content marketing textbook” back to life.

All 30 chapters of this completely revised new edition gives you a thorough walk through the world of content marketing, so much so, if you are new to the space, you will never look back.

Chapter after chapter will lead you from understanding what content marketing is, to working out your niche and the strategy you need to implement. From there you will learn how to mange all aspects of the content process and how to make your content work in the real world.

Don’t think that this new edition will be lagging behind current (read this week’s!) trends in marketing because all the big guns are there, including AI, Web3 and the Metaverse.

The book rounds out with an in-depth look at the future of Content Marketing and how your ‘Epic Story’ can be part of it.

While I may be a bit biased as I know these two stellar individuals personally and have been the Content Marketing Queen for over 10 years (and therefore committed to this craft), but the additional knowledge gained and thinking involved from reading this version will keep me creating and crafting until at least the end of the year and beyond.

If you buy any business book this year, THIS really needs to be the one.

Happy Reading and thanks Joe & Brian for putting this EPIC content out into the World!

You can't do better than go straight to the "Godfather of Content Marketing," Joe Pulizzi, for the goods. The first edition was good but I think this one is even better. Brian Piper is an excellent co-author and brings to the table his deep understanding of SEO and web optimization.

The title of Chapter 10 is "Becoming the Leading Source For Your Customers." Joe really nails it when he says that brands don't take their content seriously enough. And I'm concerned this is going to get even worse with the advent of bland content generated by A.I.

However, there is plenty... and I do mean PLENTY of strategies described in this book to improve your content marketing. In fact, it is so comprehensive that I wouldn't be surprised to see university and college marketing departments include it in their curriculum. It's that good.

Whether you're working at an enterprise, a large corporation, or a small business--please do yourself and your business a solid and buy this book. Read it. Highlight it. Take notes. There is a goldmine of information here to help you develop everything from defining a niche and content strategy to creating an editorial calendar to finding content assets to channel development.

You'll get a boatload of ideas from this book. Consider it your "content marketing Sherpa" that will guide your content marketing to new heights.

I’m so excited that Joe Pulizzi and Brian Piper have decided to update this already EPIC book, which was already one of my most favorite marketing books of all time in its original form. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This new version is for the marketing landscape of 2023 and beyond, so content marketers, marketing leaders, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs can understand how to navigate the challenges of reaching your target audience and building trust in a noisy, noisy marketplace.

These are my favorite parts of the new edition:
- New case studies!! These are always my favorite, showing real world applications
- How to navigate AI!
- What is up with Web3?! They got you covered.

As a marketing agency owner, I’m all-in on content marketing for my clients. This wasn’t always the case, but in the past two years I’ve been steering my clients more in this direction and will only continue to do so. I know this book will be my ultimate reference and guide, supporting me when I feel doubtful or just need a marketing mindset reset.

Bottom line: it’s an indispensable guide. If you’ve never engaged in content marketing before, or you’ve simply been curious about it, get ready to have your mind blown and completely opened up to new possibilities.

I have been waiting for a second edition of this book having read the first edition probably 10 times over the past ten years! Epic Content Marketing has been a favorite marketing book of mine for years, and I have been using it in my advanced marketing courses for years, so when I had the opportunity to read a pre-release copy of the second edition I jumped on it!

Some things I love about the second edition:

1. It isn't just an update. It is a completely new book that keeps the great aspects of the first book (including the step-by-step guide to starting a content marketing initiative or business), but includes new content that is relevant to all marketers now.
2. It has detailed descriptions of content types for those who aren't sure what they could even create and want to push their content creation beyond blogs and videos for social media.
3. Provides guidance for selling your content business or acquiring someone else's.
4. Talks about Web3 in a way that is accessible and easy to understand.

This book is a must-read for marketers in any business, and of course for any content creators who want to become content entrepreneurs!

I reviewed the first edition of this book on my blog nearly ten years ago. Ten years is like a lifetime in marketing. Today’s marketers are dealing with a new and volatile collection of social media platforms, emerging AI tools, Web3, and always more data.

The details of content marketing are in flux, but the strategy remains consistent. And it always surprises me that so many companies aren’t taking advantage of the power of content marketing yet. Oh, they’re churning out content, but neglecting the customer engagement part.

There’s no excuse for that anymore. This second edition is fully updated for 2023, but still grounded in Joe Pulizzi’s wisdom and industry leadership. If you’re in the marketing profession, read it, refer to it, and let it inspire you.

We can all do better, and this book will help.

As someone who works for a content marketing agency, I wish everyone of my clients would read this book. So many great takeaways (dare I say, epic takeaways). In fact, each chapter has epic thoughts at the end.

The book covers the history of content marketing (including "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and The Furrow magazine from John Deere), why content marketing is surging now (hint, everyone is a publisher), the business case for content marketing (hint, it's like the game of Operation) and so much more.

Full disclosure, I've not finished it yet, but I'm well into it and learning so much from Joe, Brian and the others who contributed to the book. Can't wait to finish it!

If the first edition was already spectacular, the second is unmissable.

Joe Pulizzi is one of the great minds that have influenced the way I read and think about content.

In fact, if you work with content, even without having read a line of it, you're also under Joe's influence.

With Brian Piper, the book gets even better.

Here, you have complete instruction to make content in a world that needs communities and is on The Web3.

The first edition was my introduction to some sort of marketing strategy.

The second edition is a good expansion on new trends as well as reinforcement of the principles. Arguably, it didn't have such a wow factor as the first time around but it's very comprehensive.

I liked the expansion on creator economy as well as web3. It's definitely a book for any marketer no matter the size of company you work for.

Nothing special

Just a begginers overview of the content marketing plan. I really do not understand what all the hype is about. If you have experience in content marketing you will not learn anything new. Mediocre book all at all.
