I lived in Destin, Florida "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village" for over 30 years and experienced firsthand the deep-sea fishing trips Bob Gonzalez describes in his extraordinary book. This book is one in which you are captivated in the moment of his experiences and is hard to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed his descriptive tales of a fisherman's life at sea and could easily relate to them. I thought that the pictures in the book helped in visualizing the experience especially for those who have never been out deep-sea fishing before. A very entertaining read and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This was an eye-opening read about something I’m not too familiar with.

A Great read. I found this to have so much balance. It’s a great story from the authors perspective about experiences. It’s not just fishing, it also provides insight into life and meaning. But is perfect for the fishing lover. Well done.

Being someone who has barley fished in their life, I am definitely not the target audience for this book. However, Bob’s short stories were very intense, shocking and educational. I can hardly name ten fish in the sea so the author including pictures every chapter was definitely a huge help for me lol.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fishing and wants to learn more about the sport! 🎣

This is an honest, witty, and totally enjoyable read. It is not just for fish-lovers, but for anyone who appreciates an introspective journey or who might be exploring such a pathway.
Wonderful read, great insight into life! Both the ups and downs, was easy to connect to.

I enjoyed this read very much. I think I was compelled by the way it is narrated in a very simple style, making an easy fast paced read. And the fact that the book describes real life events, as a reader, captivated me even more.
I am not a huge follower of sport fishing, but the adrenaline and the unknown that goes through in the Gulf of Mexico sounded really interesting to me.
Overall, "A Flicker in the Water" by Bob Gonzalez is a great choice for readers who love fishing but also for readers into action mixed with a bit of educational memoirs. Good read!

I was surprised by these stories. "A Flicker in the Water" is a collection of entertaining short stories that are unique and original. Anecdotes and adventures invite readers to enjoy the sea and learn more about it, its inhabitants, its secrets, the work of fishermen and their legends.
I liked the writing style and the structure of this book a lot. The images that accompany the stories are also fascinating. They helped me imagine I was there, on board a ship and soon to dive into the vast sea. I recommend it. Apart from being entertaining, the stories provide insight ful messages and teachings. I really enjoyed sharing some of these tales with my children.

I've spent many years on the ocean as a commercial fisherwoman and relate to the author's stories in many ways.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for the ocean, which can turn on you in a heartbeat.
Even though this book focuses on ocean fishing, it took me back to those amazing days That I can honestly say have been the best times of my life so far.
The author did an amazing job through his writing of taking the reader on many adventurous fishing trips, I felt like I was right there next to him, cheering him on when reeling in a fish. I felt the adrenaline rush and the pride a fisherman feels when they land a fish on the boat.
The photos were an added bonus that was a great addition to the stories.
My husband and son who are also avid fishermen also read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now we want to go fishing lol.

Bob has brought his love of fishing to anyone who has had a Big one get caught or lost! He covers years and miles of his many experiences. I remember my first deep sea trip,and the thrill of shouting"Fish On" Bob also stresses Respect of Nature,and thanks God for the bounty! Close your eyes,and picture A Flicker In The Water!

Like being on the ocean
Bob's book is a passionate telling of the thrill of deep sea fishing. Not just about catching fish, it's an homage to the beauty of the sea and the primal challenge of battling its finned beasts. I'm not a fishing guy and I still liked it.

Outstanding book! At times humorous at times educational and always entertaining. I strongly recommend "A FLICKER IN THE WATER" (Inside the Tales) for all ages.
