Aberrant Farmer #2

One-Armed Beasthunter 2

Rate this book
Ferren’s family and neighbors had no other choice. Life on the frontier had become too dangerous, what with the Beasts’ attacks getting more and more frequent and deadly. They all had to leave their farms behind to be relocated somewhere safe, closer to the capital. But the journey through the desert is no easy task, as they need to cross a hostile territory rife with monsters and dangers.

Thankfully, the villagers can count on Ferren and the group of Powered accompanying him to protect them. And with any luck, the young farmer might even gain a new power or two to add to his arm arsenal.

If they make it through, a new chapter in Fer’s life may begin back in Dunwatch Keep, this time as one of the elite force and not just some random pawn in the king’s army.

But with each mission it becomes increasingly clear that they might not be safe anywhere, not even at the heart of the kingdom. Something is drawing the Beasts out of the Wastes, something terrible, something hungry. And it’s up to them to stop it before the entire realm is overrun.

simple, but effective

A twist you see coming, but well done even so.

The apparent incompetence of the ‘military’ is a bit annoying (as there should have been procedures in place to *avoid* that exact problem), but everyone remains consistent in their role.

Curious as to what the ‘Wastes’ actually are. Next book should be interesting.

Grea ………. almost Great

I wouldn’t give the book 5 stars more like 4.25 but there are no in between’s. If you read the first book in the series then I’m sure you came back to read the second book in the series because it is good really good. Now the first book in the series took time to introduce you to a MC expose you to the world and his family and gave you a lot of mystery. how did he end up like this? Why did he end up like this? What are the consequences? you might even have asked where all the beasts coming from? Good questions brought up in the first story the reason why the second story doesn’t get 5 stars it’s because it really doesn’t advance the story. We don’t die further into any of those questions we do see DMC interact with more characters but the relationships built aren’t strong enough to warrant saying the story was advanced significantly. I won’t spoil anything but if you forget about some of the questions you asked in the first book they aren’t really addressed in the second book at all. This is more like a set up for a third book which I hope address is some of these issues. No that does not mean this book is bad far from it it’s really good close to being great. Lots of action and the action is good it doesn’t take the traditional LITRPG path to character growth and development instead we see something totally different beast consumption. It’s very interesting to see how new abilities are acquired and deployed. The new characters we are introduced are interesting and even near the end of the book we run into some humor I wish we could’ve gotten more of that earlier on but there is at least some of it. overall it’s a good story and it’s going to make you want to know what’s next you will come back for more so it is something I recommend you read and you should recommend it to others.

Note to the author:

This is spoiler material but I always write a note to the author for books I like good book but I found myself wondering why weren’t some of the major issues in the first book addressed. What happened to the other talking beasts. I remember them having something important to say but I’d have to go back and read the first book again to stumble upon it. As I said in my review I thought we could’ve used a little bit more story development don’t get me wrong this was a good story but I didn’t touch on over arching events. The action was great the skills he learned were great I think one they were generation was a little too predictable but that battle was really good. I’m in for the long haul on this story so I’m hoping to see it really develop and touch on some of those bigger issues. I thought it was fun to see him struggle with being around people versus being around Saer for a second I thought he might have to struggle with coming to terms with who he was or what yes but that wasn’t a topic here I’m not saying it should be but I thought it would be. In the next book we’re definitely going to be looking for advancement of the overall plot what we got at the very end of this book the attack that’s going to come I don’t think that was enough. Good overall not quite great but keep up the good work.

Needs editing

I enjoyed the story but there are a couple things that should be fixed.

One, people jump from not knowing things to knowing things with no explanation. Sure, it could be implied that the conversation where it was revealed occurred sometime in the in between, but that’s not fun to read. We go from Fer stressed about Sun Yi and Leola finding out he eats Beasts, to Leola covering for Fer so he can go eat with a sort of wink wink nudge nudge, with absolutely no mention of when she found out or what her initial reaction was. People like watching the movie, not reading the Wikipedia plot summary.

Two, there were several times in the book where people forgot things that they shouldn’t have. For example, Fer has a whole existential crisis about Surge affecting his entire body, saying that it’s the FIRST TIME an ability has ever affected his entire body before. This would be very poignant except that earlier he had the exact same mental debate when he got Regeneration, which affects his entire body. This is only one example of this weird forgetting. It’s annoying and breaks immersion.

Overall I liked the story, but it really needs someone to do at least one full read through before it’s released.

Good book

I enjoy this book as much as the 1st. The series Is a fun read so far. No harem no romance really to speak of And some unique characters. The MC is Self conscious about his power But in this book he gained a lot of acceptance with his peers. He punches for above his weight class And Supports his fellow trainings and fighters. He is still unusual out of all Warriors at his side but his gifts continue to grow. The power system in the world is not defined so it is fairly nebulous and there is a broad range of powers and abilities. However the close characters are fairly well detailed. The author continues to make the MC a person or even human Which is an odds with his arm. That said he cares about family and friends and The kingdom. Obviously since he puts his life on the line to protect it/them. I look forward to the next book hopefully I don't have to wait quite as long.

I had this book for so long. If this works out, there is another series by the author that I wanted to try. It looked too Young Adult for me, so this will help me decide.

This book was enjoyable. I don't know why I put this off. Maybe I thought it would turn into some YA angst piece, because of the protag's age, but that is far from the truth.

I will try that "magical engineering" book by the author that I had my eye on for some time. I hope enjoy it. The books I read from the author so far wasn't bad.

Good Second Book

Pretty good second offering to this series. A little slow and repetitive at times, but overall a good read. What I liked best is the introduction of MC's team. I also really liked the last chapter, sort of expected, but nicely done. I would highly recommend this book.

it ended to soon

Great but once again has an bossy nothing but attitude female that the mc of course lets walk all over him like he’s a doormat and not an adult human being I’m so so so tired of seeing this in almost every dang book anymore it’s ridiculous. Okay rant over but other than that small thing it’s a great continuation of the story.

Greatk

I'm really enjoying the characters' progression. He's written perfectly. Not too bright, but with heart to spare. Great world building as well,as we are introduced to more settings and events. Can't wait for the next.

Love this series!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series. In this book we get to see a little more world building, while Fer also makes some friends with some other powered! I’m really liking the direction this series is heading! :)

I didn't find this as engaging as book one. Aside from beast fights and skill accumulation, little is going on. The main conflict only appears at the three-quarters mark... the resolution of which seems to have little impact on the series. It was an easy read, just not memorable.

One-armbeasthunter book2

I like this book. It was very intense. The characters were great. Spoiler alert. I did figure out the ending. It still did not matter. The book was fun to read. Can’t wait for the next one.

I really liked this series, reason why I give it a 4 star is that this story seems to have been dropped. No answers in the past two books about his arm, talking beasts or about what’s causing all the other creatures to run away from the infected lands.

A bit obvious, but still loads of fun.

This is a quick, simple read. No big twists or surprises, and it does not need them. It is just fun.

Great story

The story and the characters grow, while doing a nice job of making the hero a over confident OP and really killing the story
