I can't call it a novel, it's more of a joke.
The hero is 63 years old, the heroine is 21 years old! In real life, the heroine of such a story never really loves the hero and after 10-15 years remains a young and rich widow!
P/S I think JK needs to think about a paranormal romance, what an expanse for the age difference! She can make the heroine great great great great great great great great great great granddaughter of the vampire hero😁 Now we get a big difference in age and incest, that is, legalized incest, because of the statute of limitations!👏🏻

I'm trash for a serious age-gap and this book delivered in spades. The best friend's grandfather MMC status made the daddy kink hilarious and I could tell the author was having fun while writing this. This is only the 2nd Jessa Kane book I've ever read, but already I can see the formula and business strategy. All her books seem to be the kind of taboo porn you'd find on Literotica, except these are well-edited with good covers. The formula includes some staple romance tropes that are guaranteed to be popular (virgin h, possessive H). It's genius. Plus the author doesn't take her smut too seriously, it's intentionally funny in this absurd way.

2.5-star **SPOILERS**
Erectile dysfunction...2 apt words to describe my reading experience of this smutty novella.
My excited interest rose @ the start. But then deflated towards the middle. Until it shrunk to a disappointment @ the end.
The GOOD:
#1. initial romance & some mature discussion
The first 40% had a decent build-up of the romance between 21yo virgin college-student h & her best friend's grandpa, newly-retired Army-general divorced 63yo H. Despite their insta-lust, both considered & talked about their own issues that may be driving their May-December attraction (h with her abandonment issues since her parents especially her father gave her up for adoption in the foster system when she was 5yo since they already too many kids to take care of and H with his need for redemption/2nd-chance @ taking care of his family whom he neglected in the past few decades due to his military-work focus).
#2. good sex
Good sexual chemistry. Detailed bareback sex scenes with lots of dirty talk that bordered on ridiculous. Including the exhibitionism @ 75%, when H couldn't stop smexxing h at a public beach even @ the full view of his family including his own son (who also viewed h as desirable) and h's BFF/H's granddaughter. They were on such a sexual high that they didn't stop & just kept going until they got done.
#3. no pedo grooming
I didn't even mind that h was the chaser since it made it clear that their affair was consensual. And no grooming by H going on. In fact, H was the 1 verbally & physically resisting h's advances. He kept reminding her & himself of their age differences.
MEH or the BAD:
#1. H kept saying he was too old
Too much repetition of H being "old" and her being so "young" and "fresh". It wasn't consistent with his character since he'd always been militant about being in good physical shape & had been so work-focused over the years as a 4-star General to worry about his age & his appearance. His repetition of being "old" just didn't make sense with his fit shape & daily workouts & even beating his young-adult nephews in a swimming race. The "old" repetition seemed to be used as shock factor to remind the reader of how much older he really is from h and to continue to be appalled by how taboo that was.
#2. increasing Daddy-Little Girl talk
This push to add to their taboo relationship was upped by the increasing Daddy-Little Girl talk, which h usually initiated. This stuff turned me off. By 61%, their 1st sex scene got ruined when h started thumb-sucking and both got turned on by all that. By 97%, it worsened with h now calling H "Grandpa" and both orgasmed as a result. So, my hope in their romance being on a healthy adult scale plummeted after each D-LG talk.
#3. turning their issues into sex
I like when the main characters own their issues/etc. Both H&h did but, instead of using owning it to resolve it or improve it, they instead played into it & used each other as substitutes for the people they actually needed love/redemption from. So, instead of h dealing with her parents' abandoning her when she was young, she used H in a let's-pretend-your-my-daddy and turned her need for parental affection & love into sex. Same way with H, who turned his 2nd-chance to be the father/head of the family of his son & relatives into sex. Where he dominated and attended to h sexually.
#4. sex-focus
The epilogue 5 years later did show them married with 4yo twin kids. But their relationship was still sexually-focused. This is a smutty novella but I had hopes for some romance & good romantic feels. But this book failed in that. It started with a good romantic spark. But the focus was solely on their physical attraction & their age-related issues. We don't even know their other characteristics. So, poor characterization and no character development. Except for virgin study-focused h becoming this sexual always-horny siren. Which doesn't say "character development" to me. More like the opposite. HEA questionable.

Okay, I didn't think it was possible...... But I'm giving Jessa Kane under 3 stars. But let's be honest, these stupids stars don't count for these books anyway.
I wanted to love this..... I really did......
I can get behind a 62 year old man and an 21 year old girl. I was totally picturing Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt (who are this age right now). You bet your ass at 41, 31 or 21 their ages wouldn't stop me from fucking the shit out of them.

Walt finally finds exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for. It’s time to begin his life again and now he can do this with a companion. Someone who desires him as much as he does her. A sense of adventure and a desire to begin her life with someone who can cherish her like a husband and command her like a daddy.
With this story it pushes so many of our buttons but in all the best ways. I won’t say any silly little jokes in this one because this story rocked my world. But I may slip in a handshake pervert here or there to just keep things light.
If you plan on reading this story focus on the love that these two share and come into this free of judgement. Everyone deserves love and every little girl needs a daddy to keep her safe.
