Betrayal. Chaos. Destruction.

Love cuts deep, its sting violent. Harsh and tragic and devastating.

It weakens and pollutes, tainting even the purest of souls until nothing remains but char and ash.

Intentions are muddied, thoughts and feelings unclear. Disjointed ideas and fragmented ideals. Confusion rife and minds warped. Armies surviving in the shadows, using the cover of darkness to try and rebuild.

Swallows are forever.

But the blood of the covenant always was thicker than the water of the womb…

*This is book 3, the FINAL book for Kyla-Rose and her boys in the Swallows and Psychos series. You must read all books in order to enjoy this very dark story.*

Book 2 - Penance

What a dumb, annoying and completely unnecessary book this was. It could have wrapped up as a duet, this was all just dumb.

Did y'all heart that? that big booming sound? well that was the sound of my left nipple completely exploding and landing in my lap. a hard mess. Charlie would be so proud.

MOTHER FUCKER. I would like to be referred to as Mrs. Taylor-Lane, and I bow at the feet of my wife. LOL I haven't been this obsessed with a series in a long as fucking time. like binged the whole thing obsessed. I am feral for Charlie (his crazy ass aint even in the fuckin harem) but..... am I the only one who was secretly hoping for some Kyla Charlie love LOLOL.... at least my bby Charlie is getting his own book this year.

ANYWHO, Max, Hux and Kacey could literally shit in their hand and smack me and I would say "thank you sir"...... especially KACEYS BIG ASS. what is it about the big boys? TikTok was right, its cuffing season. this book was probably the least SMUT of the trilogy but it was no less exciting. it started and ended with a bang. and there was a bang in the middle. and there were literal bangs (pew pews and sexy bangs) literally give me all the bangs, the fuq. if K.L. told me to cut bang in my hair I fucking would.

GO RUN NOW, read this series so I we can swoon together.
Im off now, my new lives mission is to find myself a pretty white Dillon

This is one of the most epic finales I have ever had the privilege to read. KL completely surpassed my expectations, shattered the proverbial glass ceiling and set new standards with this trilogy and I'm here with my whiskey for it.

Kyla-Rose, this young woman is a true warrior princess. I was blown away with her vulnerability and teared up more than once over her inner struggles. I loved watched Lala come back from the grave - stronger, fiercer and real.

Huxley, Max and Kacey - these men, oh these men own my heart. Huxley with his endless compassion and Max's hot headed self - both that love in their own way and without any boundaries. Kacey though? This man is a beast and loves strongly like one. All three would burn the world down for their girl and halfway did.

KL brought all the emotions, twists and surprises, steam and action to this story. The characters are so well developed that I feel like they could jump straight off the pages - and it's not just the main characters that have this type of ability. This talented author didn't skimp on the side characters, she made them just as intriguing and lovable. My heart and emotions were all over the place with this masterpiece and I didn't want it to end, but the ending KL gave Lala and her men is so worth the journey. I, seriously, love everything about Persecution and wouldn't change anything. I will definitely being going back and reading this trilogy again and again without hesitation.

No spoilers 😉

From the first book this series has had a chokehold one me. I love love love it so much. But this book wasn’t just an ending, IT WAS FREAKING PERFECTION. Y’all this book has to be my absolute favorite out of the three. I can even honestly say that this book is definitely one of my favorites this year. I can place it in the top 3 easily. It will definitely stick with me for life. The emotions I felt while reading this, the heartbreak, the tears, I laughed and cried some more. LIKE I THINK IT BROKE ME! This hangover is for real. 5 AHMAZINGGGG ⭐️ for this book and the whole series!

THIS BOOK .. no wait .. THIS SERIES had me absolutely enthralled!! The absolute roller coaster ride of emotional destruction I just got off of is going to leave me in a book hang over for days, I already know it. I laughed out loud like a psychopath, I got pissed off enough to want to fight a fictional man, and my heart broke with shock and sadness.

In the third and final book in this series, our FMC Kyla-Rose has been through absolute hell and is trying to find her way back. She does some things do to trauma and a fierce need to protect that she later regrets... but she is still the psychotic bad ass we know and love. I really enjoyed getting some good Chaos Twins time and I had to come to terms with how messed up I truly am when I kept wishing Charlie would just join the reverse harem Ky has going on ;) ((I am seriously on the edge of my seat waiting for Chars story! I'm practically panting for it.))

This ending did not disappoint and if you are ready for some more Swallows and Psychos then I HIGHLY recommend you pick this book up immediately, but be prepared to want to binge read it all in one sitting!!

**A couple sort of spoilers**
I just have to mention-
I didn't realize how much I cared about Frank and his wife, but ooohhh man did that hit HARD!
I am so happy they were able to keep Frankie in the end, and I really hope to hear how he's doing in later books!!
I'm still sad about Ky and Char coming to the "In another life..." bit, but I really hope he has the PERFECT partner out there for him who will fit in with the Swallows perfectly! :)👿🔪

K.L. Taylor-lane, you are a beautifully talented evil mastermind of an author!! Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this series as an ARC reader. I read the ARC copy twice, but I will definitely be purchasing it as well because I NEED you to keep writing, so I will support you in every way I can! I think it is possible that our souls were forged in the same dark place 🖤🖤🖤

Persecution is the third and final installment of the first trilogy in the Swallows and Psychos series. This entire series has had me in a death grip since Purgatory and Pennance, these stories consume my mind and soul for days after reading. Kl Taylor-Lane has created a dark, haunting and beautiful world with the Swallows and Psychos and I cannot get enough of it. Kyla-Rose Swallow is the bad-ass FMC to end all bad-ass FMC's, but she is also a little vulnerable, a little unhinged and a little fragile - something we can all relate to She has so much more strength than she knows and always wants to do right by her family and her loves - Kacey, Huxley and Max - they are her everything. Persecution will have you firm in its grasp from page one: it is mesmerizing, tragic, and hot as hell. The level of detail that has gone into this entire series will leave you questioning everything and wondering up until the very end. This whole series is absolute perfection, and it deserves a place on TBR's and bookshelves everywhere. It also has an amazing playlist (link in comments). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ plus a billion for Persecution as well as, Purgatory and Pennance.

I don’t think I have had a book hangover this bad in a long azz time. Holy cow!! I have loved this series since book one and the crazy train never stopped it never slowed down if anything is sped up. This series and this book 3 in particular was freaking EPIC. There is not way for me to give you the deets without spilling those spoilers and we aint about that life over here. I will tell you however be prepared to go through every possible emotion you can think up because this author really goes in hard. I am talking swift punch to the gut, rip out your soul and tears running down your cheeks. Freaking Brilliant!!!

Wow! I'm glad that's over. My head hurt from all the angst and drama that was stretched out to 3 books where it could have been only one book. It felt like drama for the sake of drama. This girl was MESSED up and acted big and tough, but it was all an act. It kind of ruined the psycho-ness for me with all her crying, lying and breakdowns. I was glad she finally got help. I thought I was getting a dark romance, but all it was, was a contemporary romance with a bit of murder and torture. I did like the ending though.

Beyond my wildest expectations!

Well this is a book and a half, it didn't start where I expected it to and it carried on blowing my expectations out of the water all the way through. KL takes these characters to h€ll and back and you go with them, every single step of the way. I cried in several places, but nothing but me harder than the 'in another life' line. All of the main characters are changed in a profound way, but especially Kyla-Rose and Kacey. The ending was shocking, the hatred that spewed forth bit so deep.
This book is unlike any other I've ever read and I love it!

Persecution is the 3rd installment within the Swallows and Psychos series and it is AMAZING!!

I have been impatiently anticipating getting my hands on this book since the last books ending and holy moly. Kyla-Rose and her guys have gone through sooo much to get their HEA and I’m so glad that they finally got.

Such a great ending for a truly phenomenal world built by @kltaylorlane_author! If you have not yet started this series, what in the heck are you waiting for?! Go and get it! I promise you. You will not regret it!

Buckle up because you’re in for a ride with this book! This is the final book in the swallows and psychos series and Kyla rose is bringing allllllll the drama.
Secrets and apologies are getting thrown around with Kyla and her men.

There was absolute chaos from the get go to the very bitter end with this book. Soooo many plot twists that had my mind reeling!!

The author absolutely smashed keeping me on tender hooks throughout this series and executed the story PERFECTLY. Nothing better than when a series gets wrapped up and you’re just feeling whole and in awe.

Kyla really goes on a journey through this book of healing and you see such a growth in her character compared to book one 🖤

THAT is how you finish a series! This book was riveting, emotional, passionate, suspenseful, and downright epic! There wasn’t one thing I didn’t love about it. It was perfection! I didn’t want it to end! I cried a few times with this one. A part of me broke for Jacob. I can’t wait for Charlie’s book so I can see more of this group. I just hope this author will create a good enough character that is good enough for my Charlie. To be honest, I wouldn’t have bat an eye at him becoming a part of this harem 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve read those types of books and I’m not ashamed 😂 I don’t see how anyone could have a more strong bond than him and Kyla-Rose. My heart broke many times with some of the scenes between them, the things they said….in another life….no! This one! So, this character has some very huge shoes to fill!!! I can’t wait!

I’m so sad that this is the end of Kyla-Rose’s journey but not when I tell you she went out with a bang, I’m not kidding! But what else can we really expect from our Lala. There were soooo many feels in this book. Lots of difficult emotional situations and trauma to work through. I loved the outcome of everything but I really love how far Lala has come in her journey. We’ve seen her hit rock bottom and come back like a Phoenix. K.L. does a stunning job giving justice to how very important mental health is and taking care of yourself. Wow, what a ride!!

Mitigated ⭐⭐⭐3.5⭐⭐⭐

Not the end I was expecting... Well, I was suspicious about the real villain and then no more...a classic🙄😅 I'd prefer a very very long painful death for him...it was definitely a too easy death! And how twisted he was!!!!😱😱😱 Hallucinogen and abortive pills??? That's sick🤮 I felt really bad for Kyla-Rose reading that he was the reason she almost lost her baby and that he's deaf now🤬🤬🤬

Persecution is the final book that concludes Kyla-Rose’s story, and you are in for an abondance of information overload and 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞. It seems when one matter is revealed, there’s always more buried just a little bit further away. Like a house of cards, Kyla can piece one fact, but the grand scheme is still just out of reach until it’s staring her in the face. I suspected so much but was still blindsided by just how far everything went and the reasoning behind it. Hats off to KL (and Mark) on this dark romance series that I loved and highly recommend.

This series gave me all the feels and love I found in the Mindfuck-series by S.T.Abby, but with even more focus on her mental health, with some amazing family/friends around. Just really feel sad about Charlie because, yes it would be more taboo, but he should have been with her too... so im excited to see where his story goes.

One of the best trilogies I have ever read. The way this author is able to twist and bend your perceptions on morality and make you identify with the darker side of the fence is unbelievable. What an intense and beautifully dark conclusion to an epic series! Absolutely blown away by your twisted genius! I also can’t wait for Charlie’s story. #ForeverMyFavorite

Out of all the Swallow and Psychos series Persecution is by far the best book! Everything that Kyla-Rose and her boys had to go through to finally be together, the betrayal of friends and family members. The non stop action, emotions everywhere, and they finally get their happily ever after. You knocked it out of the park K.l.Taylor-Lane. Absolutely crushed it!!

I swear that K. L. Taylor-Lane was trying to finish me off with this book. If she wasn’t busy confusing me, she was tearing my heart into pieces, or using anticipation and fear to relocate it into the back of my throat. I’ve just finished the book and I feel like I’ve been through the emotional wringer.

I definitely started out with confusion, though. Kyla-Rose? Dead? I know she was beaten and kinda broken when we left her at the end of Penance, but she was definitely still alive. I know, I went back to check. Just like Max, Huxley, and Kacey, I couldn’t understand it. I clung to the hope that, as future chapters were written from Kyla-Rose’s perspective, there would be some sort of explanation.

I never would have guessed the whole story though. I’m also going to find it very hard to write this review without dropping spoilers. Maybe I should just leave you with the advice: you absolutely have to read it. But you know I’m not going to do that.

One thing that really struck me was how Taylor-Lane has developed as an author over the summer months. Heron Mill is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The gothic darkness of that book has bled into this story and wrapped itself around Kyla-Rose as she battles with her mental health issues. It’s beautifully descriptive and tragically dark, sweeping the reader up in the character’s despair and desolation. It’s perfect for the situation Kyla-Rose has found herself in.

The storyline of the book was pure genius. There were so many twists and turns I don’t know how anybody is supposed to anticipate what lies ahead. Throughout the story I kept getting flashes of “oh, that could happen,” and then things would be explained a different way. The trick was you never really knew if you were right in the first place and you’d forget your suspicions, then chapters later you’d find out you were right all along. It was seriously messing with my mind.

Persecution is an amazing book which finishes the Swallows and Psychos trilogy on a high. In fact, it’s even better that you can binge the whole thing in one now. I’m looking forward to seeing more from all of the Swallows in Taylor-Lane’s future books, both with Charlie’s story and in the Blackwell Brothers series.

Persecution starts off with a heart wrenching bang. I didn’t know what to expect after the cliffy of Penance but I was completely taken by surprise. I don’t know how I feel about how Kyla decided to handle her tr@um@ and everything surrounding it, I think a little disappointed in her but when I consider everything as whole, I know she did the best she could and what she thought was best. After everything she’d been through, she was just doing the best she could and sometimes even felt like that wasn’t enough. My heart broke for Kyla and what she felt.. KL does an amazing job putting the reader in the thick of their feels. I felt everything Kyla felt and sometimes I didn’t think my heart could take anymore. Following Kyla’s journey since Purgatory as an ARC reader has been a privilege and I can admit to becoming attached to Kyla and her harem and wanting everything to work out with a happy ending.

Getting Charlie’s POV was such an absolute treat and I loved getting a better understanding of his feelings toward Kyla and their relationship in general and vice versa. I don’t know how many times I’ve told KL I wish Charlie was part of Kyla’s harem but I’ve been mollified with the knowledge that his book is coming. An MMF that I’m very excited for!

Something else I wasn’t expecting but absolutely loved was seeing the Heron Mill characters again. Not just Grace and Hunter but also their baby Thorne and Hunter’s brothers. I’m looking forward to when KL takes us back to Heron Mill with one of the brother’s books.

I also wanna rage about who the villain of the story turned out to be but I won’t give any spoilers. I did however send an I KNEW IT message to KL when the secret was revealed. I just got that vibe from that certain character and analyzed everything they said and did. I couldn’t believe how twisted and s@distic they got in their endeavor to hurt Kyla, it was true dark romance material and I can’t wait to see what other twisted stuff KL comes up with in future books.

“Safety is an illusion, a sweet bedtime story we tell our children to protect them from the bogeyman hiding beneath our beds.”

OMG! This story had me in a chokehold and I honestly don’t think I can stop crying. As soon as I dived back into Kyla-Rose’s world, the tears wouldn’t stop. I was uncontrollably crying right from that very first page. My heart hurt so badly that I thought it would just shatter into a million pieces. I didn’t know how it was ever going to be mended after what was transpiring right before my eyes. The pain, the hurt, the anger and the gut-wrenching agony was too much! I was never going to survive until the end. How were they all going to ever be able to crawl out of the deep dark hole they were currently in to get back to each other?

This was definitely not an easy story to read. I needed time to understand and rationalize the immense amount of emotional turmoil and heartache that continually bringing me to my knees. Then I needed to time to consume all of the violence, gore, bloodshed, and murder and mayhem that was being thrown at me. And I needed to calm the swelling rage inside of me because I just knew deep down who the mastermind of it all was and I caught myself continually yelling at them trying to get them to see what I was seeing and feeling. UGH!! Even with my suspicions, I was still utterly blindsided by the why’s of it all. That was a punch to the gut!

Buckle up because this is one hell of rollercoaster ride!

Brilliantly written and utterly epic conclusion to this masterpiece of darkness! Now I need to deal with this freaking book hangover that I have.

Yeah, no thanks. DNF at 71% and I am amazed I got that far!

The time jumps were really annoying and it was like the author just couldn't be bothered to write any action. Book 2 ended on a 'cliffhanger' of Kyla-Rose' death and one look at the chapter index of this book would tell you this was bullshit. But we get no real explanation on how she was saved or what happened in the time between her being taken at the end of book 2 and the start of book 3. It just jumps in straight at her "funeral" 9 months later. I'm at 71% and there is still only a brief explanation as to why she faked her death but no background into this to actually help the reader understand what is going on!

I felt like the author put the chapter in the POV of the person who was least involved in any action going on so it didn't have to be written.

The whole "I had a miscarriage and don't ever want to have children but oh by the way I had a baby and it's yours" was ridiculous and laughable.

The borderline incestual relationship between Charlie and Kyla-Rose was cringey and weird.

The breaking point for me was Nox forcing Kyla-Rose into the shower and fucking her when SHE CLEARLY FUCKING SAID NO! I have checked the trigger warnings for this book and whilst it does say "dub-con"...this was not it. Kyla-Rose was forced into a panic induced state, screamed the word "no", asked him to stop, but he didn't. That is rape.

If you have any triggers when it comes to vomit (emetophobia etc.) please be warned there are many graphic descriptions of being sick and vomiting throughout the entire series. There are no trigger warnings for this anywhere online.

**Sigh**

I started this series excited to read about a boss bitch kicking ass unrepentantly; which is what I got the first book and about half of the second. Midway-ish through the second book, the FMC had signs of crippling weakness. Trauma flashbacks which I can't fault anyone for and understood especially after you learn exactly what she went through. There's more to it than that you don't learn until the 11th freaking hour.

Then the third book rolls around and I started to think, sweet, now she's finally going to go on a rampage of revenge that I'm honestly surprised her and Charlie didn't start much earlier. Or if they did, it was certainly glossed over. The majority of this book Lala turned into the cliche emotional, everyone should hate me so I'm going to push them all away for the dumbest fucking reasons possible over and over again, chick PLUS love is weakness, so you know, I'm going to hurt the people I love to "protect" them. Fucking gag me. Christ.

And spoiler: the end reveal, not surprising and frankly, considering the character basically advertised their disdain on flashing billboards for all to see, it's disappointing no one considered them at all. Especially, when it became crystal clear that only someone on the very inner circle would know the information that was fed to the enemy.

**spoiler**

I suppose it can be argued that people have a blind spot where family is concerned but that big of a blind spot? I have a hard time believing that and their reasons were mind blowing my dumb.

For a series that started out strong, it went downhill fast and hard for me. The Maura Quinn series still reigns supreme in regard to bad ass chicks.

Epic End To Kyla-Rose’s Story!! Absolutely Phenomenal ❤️❤️❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review

OMG KL has freaking done it again…..my book hangover is absolutely freaking insane. I just seriously don’t even know where to even begin with my review for this third book in this series. It just keeps getting better and better with each book she writes of Kyla’s story. This woman is so broken and crazed that you can help but be amazed by her and her strength as she grows and progresses in her story.

This is Kyla’s finale and it absolutely gutted my poor heart and shredded it. This book had so much going on and so much heartbreak and trauma to sort thru that it literally had me in tears at times. If you hadn’t fallen in love with the guys so utterly completely by now you absolutely freaking will in this book OMG these guys are the most beautifully dangerous alpha protective and possessive men I have ever seen they are so perfect for Kyla in every way possible they love her unconditionally and heal her in ways that seamed impossible especially with her past and present traumas.

This trilogy is my absolute favorite and I look forward to doing a re read in the near future because I will never get enough of Kyla and her men. And that Charlie oh my goodness I love his character so much too and I seriously can’t wait to read his book. If I could give this series a million ⭐️’s I most certainly would!! Highly recommended!!! I highly recommend all books by KL Taylor Lane.
