A simple request. A chance to find answers. And one last hope for the woman who has spent a lifetime searching.
For eighty years, the search for John Sullivan has been plagued by dead ends and dashed dreams. Now, thanks to Robyn Wright’s former career and a last-ditch quest for answers, a glimmer of hope has emerged. But will it be enough to finally help mend a heart that was broken so long ago?
Speaking of heartbreak, Levi Graham knows a thing or two about that. After the death of his young wife left him a grieving single parent, he’s spent the past seven years trying and failing to move on… so the last thing he expected was to be drawn to the island’s newcomer. Can he come to terms with the feelings that have caused him to question everything he thought he knew about himself?
And Robyn isn’t the only new addition to Thistle Island who has been turning heads. When a charming man moves into the shop next door to Brooke Nelson’s café—and takes an immediate interest in her—old memories are brought to light, revealing wounds that run far deeper than the sea that surrounds the island.
Sink your toes into the golden-sand beaches of Thistle Island, where strangers are friends, sunshine is plentiful, and the ocean is always just a few steps away. This feel-good small-town women’s fiction series is perfect for readers of all ages.
Author's This is a continuing series that follows the lives of the residents of Thistle Island throughout multiple books that are best read in order.
Robyn and her friends are having no luck finding Helen's John. So Robyn comes up with the idea of putting the story in a National Paper. Meanwhile, things get worse between Oscar and Brooke. Robyn starts to realize her feelings for Levi are growing. Love the stories of all the characters
Life is one of loves of all kind, & of losses, & findings. Within the heart belonging to elderly Helen, is an undiminished love story seeking its conclusion. Her young friend Robyn, both Carer and journalist in an enforced sabbatical, is at the end of own her long-term relationship. A story without a conclusion is something foreign to Robyn. So when she learns of Helen's unfinished love story to a WW2 pilot and how other Islanders had been consumed by it while not knowing to whom the love story belonged....Robyn felt compelled to use her skills and contacts. Mia Kent, the author of The Letter, masterfully inter-twines the loves of Island life; the passions of those within this island community and draws all toward the conclusion of the tale of Helen's misplaced soul mate. Their own losses unearthed along the way. Helen's great love persistently believes all things. This seems to covertly lead those around her, to pursue similar hopes, and thereby change the course of vulnerability & self protection. This is one book of a set. Be sure to start on THISTLE ISLAND NOVEL BOOK 1 in order to understand the tight relationships within Thistle Island's precious community. It's a place where we'd all love to live. One where relationships are "forever" though dynamic & changing.
I am loving this whole series so far. Can hardly wait to start the next book. I would absolutely love to watch a movie or two based off of this series. It would be perfect for Hallmark. It gives me all the “feels” of reading nearly anything by Nicolas Sparks. Mia Kent can most certainly weave a love story for the ages. While I am fully invested in all of the characters storylines, I already know Helen’s (aka Rosie) and John’s story will always stay with me. I certainly appreciate the cleanly written story. I highly recommend this book. But please start with the first book in the series. I also recommend doing yourself a favor and go ahead and buy the entire series. You’ll thank me later.😉
In The Letter, Book 3 of Mia Kent’s Thistle Island Series,Robyn Wright contacts her former editor and asks for permission to run a story about Helen’s lost love from WWII, John Sullivan. The story is published and many are interested in helping the 98-year old Helen find her missing beau. Other situations play out between Robyn and Levi; Brooke and Sawyer and Owen and Claire. Some are promising and some are not. However, we discover that a letter that John wrote to Helen before his departure fell on the floor during an air raid and was disposed of as trash. Could it explain what happened to him? Maybe Book 4 will reveal more answers!
Athough this was the shortest book that I have read in this series, It is ironic that it took me the longest time to read. Not because of lack of interest. Instead, it is because life got in the way. It is also ironic that I liked this book of this series the most so far. There are many unexpected twists and turns in every character's story line, especially the ending where as I wasn't sure if I should be happy or sad. I could hardly wait to start the next book of the series, called The Gift.
These books should be read in order!! Several of the characters in this book are recovering from broken hearts. But they still make time for family, friendships and appreciating the beautiful place where they live. No one is a millionaire. They work and socialize, learning as they go. It’s refreshing to me to see attention paid to the effort and grace required to live an “ordinary” but deeply meaningful life.
Following on from the first Thistle Island books this is beautiful. Definitely read in order, one after the other so you get continuation and enjoy the stories which really are one very long book, broken into smaller segments.
Helen is just wonderful and the love she had for a pilot in the 2nd World War, even though they only had a very short time together, makes for beautiful, sad but sensitive reading which will want the reader to keep reading. I'm loving the series.
This series is so hard to put down. As the story continues to develop I find myself caught up in all the emotions of every character. Their joys, pain and regrets are all so real I feel as if I'm experiencing them myself. Anxiously looking forward to starting the next book in the series.
Such a great read. You get sucked into the characters and the small coastal island living. The story of "ROSIE" and John has made it to the reporters and news stations and you know it's only a matter of time before someone knows what is going on. Other relationships are starting to bloom, others fizzled as quickly as they started, and some relationships are being questioned.
I read pretty much this entire book during my shift at work today lol. I really enjoyed the side plots of robyn getting closer to delaney and going on their camping trip, brooke and owen’s story, and of course levi finally admitting his feelings for robyn! I’m SO excited to read the next book and see what ends up happening with john and robert!!!
There are no mountain at the coast of North Carolina and there are very few pine tree left on the outer banks of North Carolina this sounds like island off West coast
While I truly enjoyed this ongoing story, I certainly resent having to purchase more than one or two books to end the story. Books containing less than 200 pages are a definite disappointment……I won’t purchase more…regardless of the outcome of the story.
So much emotion. I smile, I cry, I hold my breath waiting to see what's going to happen. I loved the first book so much I bought all of them. This book was even better than the first one. I can't wait to start reading The Gift.
It is finally coming together with the relationships of Robyn and Helen. The author has been doing such a great job to keep the reader’s attention. I really enjoyed this book.
But I'll admit im skippi g parts ro get to the meat of the story... Even so, there's been some surprises thrown in that time not sure I like. Time will tell.
