Ronan

The next time my brother says “Hey, I’ve got an idea,” I need to run, not walk away. I might be from a dragon shifter ruling family, but I’m not demanding a female mate with me. Yet taking my time and winning her over is going nowhere. So far, I’ve punched my card as the older neighbor who’s way too nosy about the young female next door. Then I hear about what she’s got planned. And I’m faced with giving her what she needs and letting her walk away, even at the cost of the useless beating organ in my chest.

Brighton

Mate Ronan Jade, they said. It’ll be a good match, they said. The older shifter is a walking poster of smoldering, hardworking male. He swings a hammer all day and at night… Well, that thought dominates my mind more than I’d like. The problem is that he’s a great match. Superb. And I’m an inexperienced female trying to rule my clan. It’d be too easy to let him in. To let him take over. To allow him to dominate. So I try to find another mate instead. Only Ronan finds me first.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: This is a series. Please read in order, as they are all interconnected.

Trigger Warnings: murder, violence, child abuse (emotional and mental), assault.

For a short book, it sure seemed long at times, with long chapters.

Regardless, I did enjoy this story.

The plot was interesting. I didn't know a lot about the hero to be honest - I wish the poor boy's history had been examined more.

The characters had an interesting steamy connection, can't say much about the romance, could've been fleshed out more.

The action was brilliantly done, and the suspense was kept at an interesting rate.

I loved the book, overall, just believe that some elements could be improved.

But good news - Lachlan and Indy's book is coming real soon, to solve all the problems they may be having that was shown in this book.

Ooh, I can't wait.

Until the next read,

-TMR

This Dragon Shifter Romance was a bit different from the fated mates romance I read, I loved it nevertheless. In this world you get to choose your mate but with a timeline.

Ronan and Brighton both belong to royal bloodline but are different in every aspect. They both have been through traumatic incidences of their own and are trying to overcome their past.

I loved how Ronan was respectful towards Brighton and helpful with everyone. And how Brighton wanted to be independent and protect her town. Although, they both are attracted to each other they have to overcome a lot of obstacles including the hidden enemy lurking the dark.

I loved their journey of getting to know each other and finally finding the happiness. The suspense of who else could be along with Camden was nerve wrecking. Cannot wait to read Lachlan's book.

Thanks to Marie for the advanced readers copy for a honest review 😊.

OOOOH I adore Ronan and Brighton! Brighton was thrown into responsibilities she never expected early in live and Ronan has come in to help her take control of her role without taking over from her. I love their dynamic and enjoyed seeing their relationship play out.
We also got to meet new characters not only from Brighton's town, but other groups as well. I am excited to see how this world keeps expanding and evolving.

Ronan and Brighton's story is charming in the fact that she is innocent and inexperienced, while he is trying to remain a gentleman and not live up to the Jade family reputation his parents brought upon them. Brighton's troubles from a previous book still trail her, while new drama erupts including Levi Peridot. This was a page turner and a must read after the Silver Brothers series!

Brighton Garnet is a dragon shifter who is in charge of the Garnet Dragons. Her family was murdered by a faction of dragons that wanted to take power, and she is in danger because one of the members of the family is still at large. Brighton has struggled with coming into her role because she was so young when her family was killed and has relied on the council in her clan to help her. She is at an age and point where she needs to step up a little bit more but isn’t quite sure. She has been fairly sheltered up to this point, but with all these changes being made, she needs to come out of her shell and lead her people.

Ronan Jade has come to Garnet River because the different clans think that he and Brighton would be a good mate match. Ronan isn’t sure, but at the same time is extremely attracted to Brighton. He is a little bit of a grump, so their first impressions aren’t the best. One thing about Ronan though, he is there to stand beside Brighton and help her. Not step in front and take charge.

There are some growing pains with these two because of the ways in which their lives have played out until this point, but they truly come together once those issues are figured out. Though, they aren’t without problems, but communication and hard truths from their friends and family show them what they are missing out on when they don’t stand as one. I am loving this series and am excited that we got to mix these two clans together.

Brighton has quite a job ahead of her, she has a clan to run, prove she can do it and rebuild the small town with what little hoard she has left after the murder of her parents. But most important I have to mate, but I am so inexperienced in the ways of the world, I never expected I'd have to grow up so fast, or take over as Ruler of the Clan, that was to be my older sister's job. But alas, the murderer never expected me to stay home that day.

Ronan Jade is of the Jade Ruling Family and mate material plus is hot as all get out, but the Jade's have such a bloody reputation, only Ronan shows no signs of their reputation, and he is rebuilding a lot of the structures in town. But Brighton is too inexperienced and stubborn to see what's right in front of her.

Ronan Jade knows the reputation his family has, but he and his siblings are not their parents.. He is not going to take anything by force even if she got him wishing he were sleeping in an igloo! Ronan is too stubborn to grab what he wants even though Brighton wants it too because he can smell it on her even if she won't admit it.

Lots of intrigue, this story had me wondering a lot and entertained me to no end.

Received this as an ARC this is my review..this is a dragon shifter story about the journey between Brighton and Ronan. Brighton lost her parents and sister in a tragic accident and she is now leader of a clan and facing having to chose a mate. Ronan is closing in on his mating prime time and is sent to Brighton's clan in hopes they will mate with each other. He doesn't want to force her to be his mate..she isn't ready to chose a mate. Ronan is helping with the construction of rebuilding her town while she rules the clan and searches for the one responsible for the death of her family. Between the mystery, suspence, and twists..Marie will keep you guessing if Brighton and Ronan will ever find/work things out to ever mate..

This story is one of the first ones I have not loved by this author. It seemed overlong and I felt like there was already a story in progress and I am missing the beginning. This is book 1 in the series but it must be a spin off or something. I liked the characters and could feel Ronan’s desire for Brighton but not so much the other way around. There is a nice selection of clan members we meet and greet. Some I liked others I did not care for. There is a lot of action near the end and some drama throughout the rest of the story.

Overall it is an okay story. I enjoy paranormal stories and the dragons are a favorite. This one just left me feeling meh. The story moves along and the characters are interesting but not what I have come to expect from this author.

On to the Jade Dragons!!

Brighton is inexperienced, young and currently leader of her clan. Mating would give her a stronger stance, but her best bet Ronan Jade who moved to town to be near her, intimidates her. Ronan is attracted to her, but not going to make a move on someone who fears him!

A delicious catch-twenty-two which results in mixed emotions, entertainment and frustration (for the characters).

I love the progression of the relationship, and the honor of the dragons. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This was a fun fast paced read with plenty of action, angst, banter and steamy romance. I liked how, although it's a grumpy/sunshine kind of read, these characters were great - especially Ronan, since he gave her space to decide what she needed. Expect some suspense and danger to go with the romance, though, as these two work their way to an HEA. Good fun!

A fun, light, easy, and steamy paranormal romance read about Ronan and Brighton. It's a quick read about dragon shifters from different clans, that have some struggles and are fairly nice.
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first in the series of the Jade Dragon Shifter Brother and a spinoff of the Silver Dragon Shifter Brother series. You can probably read it as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading the other series first to get a better understanding of the background of everyone involved.

As usual, Marie wrote another fun, light, easy read. That is one of my favorite things about these books. They are shorter than her other series, so if you want a quick and entertaining read, with a bit of steamy sex thrown in, this is the book for you.

This is the story of Ronan Jade and Brighton Garnet. They are both dragon shifters from separate clans. Brighton is the ruler of her Clan, but is still struggling every day to prove her worth. Ronan is the older bad boy who has come to town on the orders of his brother to woo Brighton into becoming his mate. They have some struggles along the way, and a few new interesting characters are introduced (I’m really curious to see what happens to Levi). Big brother Lachlan shows up to give his support, and also to run away from his mate, Indy. Marie has been dropping hints throughout the other series about Lachlan and Indy, and nicely sets up the stage for their story in the next book, ‘The Dragon’s Bond’ due out September 18th.

I always enjoy the way Marie writes her heroines. They may be vulnerable, insecure and full of faults, but they also always end up as the kick ass type of women they were meant to be. It may take a little longer with some, but the females never take s**t from the males around them. That’s a good thing, since her males tend to be the dominate, overbearing type. Once they fall in love though they also always worship their females. Ronan falls hard and it was so fun to witness his downfall.

I’m looking forward to more in this series.

This is a spin off from the Silver Dragon Shifter Brothers Series, a three book series.

Brighton we’ve meet in the previous series, it’s not necessary to read that series, but you’ll get a little more background. (But this book does supply a few moments from Brighton’s life?)
She’s the youngest ever ruler of her clan, she’s also the first female to rule. But not everyone agreed with the decision and she’s has to fight to keep her leadership. (That’s how we met her, the dragons in her clan were turning rogue and injured a Silver clan member)

Ronan is brother to both Lachlan and Venus (Lachlan is the clan leader, Venus mated Penn from the Silver clan)
We met him briefly in the previous series, we don’t know too much about him, but i got the impression he wasn’t too impressed with Brighton and her clan.
But after the Silver clan step in to help Brighton, and the Jade clan offer their support in rebuilding Brighton’s town.
It’s in a sorry state, neglected and falling apart, Ronan is there as both potential mate and contractor.

It’s not love at first sight, it’s not even a like! But when an alliance is needed to help Brighton keep her clan, Ronan is drafted in!

The fireworks between these two characters just light the pages up. They bicker and banter until a moment has them rethinking they could just make this arrangement work. But someone still wants Brighton’s leadership!

I love these stories, short with plenty of action, angst and storyline to make you wish they were longer.
Brighton although inexperienced and young, her determination to make her family proud is strong (she lost her parents and older sister in an accident, which we find out wasn’t an accident!)

So can Ronan and Brighton put their differences aside and build this clan back up? Can they find a truce and maybe go from there?

This was Venus' brothers story from The Silver Clan series.
Ronan was sent over to help Brighton with rebuilding her city and mate her.
But they both had miscommunication and thought the other one didn't like them. So they dance around their feelings and chemistry.
Brighton is young and has had to grow up early after her family was killed by an enemy that wants to take over her clan.
So she was learning to grow into her role aswell as trying to live without her family.
So she was trying to prove she was strong enough to be a leader, rebuild her city and be ready for when the enemy strikes.
She is also trying to learn how to have a relationship too.
They both end up agreeing to an arrangement, where Ronan will give her sexual experiences that she feels she is lacking and thinks it's the reason Ronan doesn't want her.
You must read to see, whether she is strong enough to be a leader, can she win her clans respect and support, can she win Romans heart and is she ready for the Enemy lurking in the shadows.
Again Marie's writing is brilliant and sucks you in the drama from the start.
Oh the steam is just right as always.

This is the first in the series of the Jade Dragon Shifter Brother and a spinoff of the Silver Dragon Shifter Brother series. Whilst you could read it as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the other series first to get a better understanding of the background of everyone involved.

This is a light, easy read, but also has plenty of fun and excitement as well as the expected romance. Focusing on the story of Ronan Jade and Brighton Garnet, dragon shifters from separate clans. Brighton is the ruler of her Clan, but is still struggling after the death of family at such a young age and the more recent betrayal from with her clan. Ronan is the older and more experienced, and has come to town help with the town’s restoration, and also for them to consider becoming mates.

As ever things are not totally smooth sailing, but their journey is fun and exciting to read and we meet a few new colourful characters (Levi seems great, can’t wait for more), as well as more from those we have met before (Lachlan - I think big brothers story is up next - yeah).

I’m looking forward to more in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Loved this story! The first one in the actual Jade clan. It falls right into place where the last one left off.
Brighton of the Garnet clan was orphaned when her family died in a car crash. She wasn’t supposed to be the clan ruler, but here she is trying to figure out how to do life.
Ronan the 3rd child of the Jade clan, is set up to possibly mate with Brighton. He is Venus’s younger brother. Venus and Brighton are friends.
Brighton feels that Ronan comes off a little cocky. However, she is attracted to him, but doesn’t play on it. He likes her right away. Brighton ends up going into the nearest town to learn about dating. While Ronan is there in Garnet town rebuilding all the falling down buildings. When he finds out she’s going to clubs looking for something…. He intervenes. This starts their exploration and neither can get enough. Brighton doesn’t want to mate until she can prove she’s strong enough on her own. Feelings are hurt, then mended and the battle is a good one! There is a HEA. It’s a great love story. I can’t wait for the next book. I’m hooked on this series!

This is Ronan and Brighton’s story the first book in the Jade series. If you’ve read the Silver series then you’ve been introduced to these characters and this book weaves everything together perfectly. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the other books to enhance the story. Brighton becomes the ruler of her clan after her parents and sister died when she was young. Due to her inexperience she feels she has always had to prove herself to everyone. When it’s decided she should find a mate it only makes her question herself and fearful that her mate will take over. Ronan recognizing Brighton’s need to show her strength supports her and backs off letting her lead. Ronan is battling his own insecurities and fighting to be recognized for who he is and not his family’s history. This leads to miscommunication and misunderstandings all while a threat lurks in the shadows. This was an entertaining read and I’ve really fallen in love with this world that Marie Johnston has created.

This story started a bit slowly for me, as the misunderstandings between Brighton and Ronan mounted. It always irks me a little when a simple conversation would solve the characters’ problems. However, there’s some meat in there that Marie digs into – how can Brighton be a ruler if she appears weak? What does that even mean, who gets to decide, and how can a whole town that’s been poisoned by the bad guys be brought to a new way of thinking?

In and around the dance between Ronan and Brighton is the action of continuing the search for bad guys, rebuilding the town, and managing family expectations. This is the start of a new series, but it is linked to Marie’s other Dragon books by family ties, and it’s great to see some of those other dragons and catch up with them. Ultimately though, this book is a lot about Brighton’s growth into her role as leader, and how having the right mate supports rather than oppresses. I received an advance copy but also borrowed on KU to read.

Another enjoyable read from Marie Johnston and her dragon shifter's series. Light and engaging but hitting all the right sexy spots. I really love the hero, Ronan Jade, in this one. He's fallen hard for Brighton, but he's aware she's young, innocent and carries the weight of her clan on her shoulders. Instead of barging in all dominant and taking over, he bides his time, understanding she needs to have some control over her own destiny. He even gets that she needs to live a little, despite how the thought of her chatting, dancing or anything else with another guy makes him mad as hell. Of course, Brighton thinks Ronan's reticence is because he's not interested, which leads to all sorts of misunderstandings and fun.
I love the lead in we've been getting about Lachlan and his mate Indy, and am looking forward to hearing what happens with Levi.

4.5***** stars. Ronan Jade is of another dragon clan who is slowing reaching his age of majority of 35 when dragons who are not mated become aggressive and a bit crazy. He has committed to help out the Garnet clan when a family of dragon shifters hid their unmated son and daughter who went on a killing spree. Brighton is the clan ruler but she is very young woman with little experience in being a leader as her family was murdered when she was a young girl. As much a they fight and appear to dislike each other, they are hiding some undisclosed feelings. The Garnet board has some collusion going on and she doesn’t know who to trust, but she always goes to Ronan who never steers her wrong. There is trouble brewing. Will they disclose their feelings for each other?

Two more dragons meet their mates

After Brighton’s parents and sister were killed in a car crash, she was protected at all costs. She was the only remaining ruling dragon. But she’s been having trouble. Trouble with her clan, trouble with the town’s economy and most of all with Ronan, the dragon sent to help rebuild the town. She’s attracted to him, but he doesn’t seem to want anything to do with her.

Ronan wants Brighton but doesn’t think she wants him. And he won’t force himself on anyone that doesn’t want him. He’s there to help but he’s also there to teach her how to fight and to protect her from those that want her dead so they can take over the clan. Will things ever be resolved?

Not as irritating as the 3 Silver Dragon Brothers’ books.
But very similar stories at the other three. A reluctant female, lots of physical closeness but no commitment. But then once Ronan was honest with her, Brighton was honest too. And except for a small hiccup which wasn’t dragged out it was all supportive and committed.

Sad that Camden was actually helped by some in their small town though, but I guess it made for a good last battle for Brighton to prove how strong she is. I’m skeptical that she was able to do considering a year ago or less she was this seemingly meek, weak girl, but I guess all the training and support helped her a ton.

Now let’s see why Lachlan’s mate doesn’t seem to care about him. I’m sure it’ll be an HEA there too, I just hope it won’t be annoying.

I just finished this story and love it. The charters were amazing. Well written And explain the story well.
Brighton lost her family in a young age . She was young and a leader to her dragon clan. But she needed to be mated.
Ronan came down to Brighton town and was crazy about her and wanted to mate her. But their connection wasn’t working. This is the first in the series of the Jade Dragon Shifter. And my first time reading Marie Johnston. And I’m loved it 🥰 I recommend this book I give 5/5. Oh you want more details well I can’t then you will not get hook on the story heheh 🤭

This was my first dragon shifter book my Marie Johnston and it did not disappoint! I absolutely LOVE a possessive male lead, and Ronan sure delivered. Even with Ronan’s alpha male possessiveness, Brighton was still a strong female character which was very nice to see. This was a great story with a slow burn of sorts. Ronan has been in town helping out for almost 6 months and he never pushes Brighton. I loved the build up and the super alpha possessiveness of this book. Love Marie’s stories!

This is the first time I'm reading from author Marie Johnston. I just found my next new author. This book has everything you could possibly want in a dragon shifter book. You have the female lead who is an orphan/Royalty dragon leader, who needs to finally stand up for herself. While the Alpha Male dragon is trying to prove that he's not like his evil parents. If you love strong female with emotional baggage and a head strong male who will do anything for his women after he gets a talking to by his sister.....lol with an HEA then this is the book for you

I love books about shifters, but the most common ones are wolf shifter stories. Reading about dragon shifters was a nice change. I really enjoyed this story. There was passion, angst, suspense, spice and a HEA. The dual POV helped me know what each MC was feeling and thinking. The story kept me engaged & left me satisfied. I am looking forward to reading more about these clans. I would definitely recommend this to those who love reading about shifters, but want a departure from the typical werewolf stories.
