This continues to be a fun series filled with lighthearted shenanigans and plenty of laughs. These two play off each other very well, and while the romance is even more subtle in this than in volume one, it’s still really nice to get a glimpse into their daily lives.

Kouhai is working on her manga, Senpai is being no help. The two spend all their time together. And, the shocking secret of the manga is finally revealed. Or everything is exactly as it seemed the whole time. One of those.
The most no-stakes yuri of, possibly, all time continues in this volume that once again has the most fun with the least plot. This is a very, very well-written bit of absolute nothing that entertains even as it has practically no content.
But it’s also very clever and smartly written, which makes it more than just the froth on the top of a beverage, you do get a taste of some depth underneath, superficial as it might be. Mostly it’s a string of vignettes, although not as boring as that would sound. If you ever wondered how cheaply you could throw together a camping excursion at Don Quixote, you’re in luck.
There’s even some light continuity, as the end of one chapter tends to lead quietly into the next. And, like before, this mangaka is one of the best I have ever seen at nailing an ending. These chapters have perfect denouements almost every time.
Is there any yuri? Nah, there’s one brief mention of how they love one another in a panel. But, then again, it doesn’t have to all be bold declarations of love, does it? There’s a more subtle affection here, that of two people who are absolutely happy and content with each other’s company and can play off one another perfectly.
Which makes the revelation towards the end when Senpai disappears so shocking! Then so shockingly funny when it turns out to be a giant troll. Or does it? This story is having fun with itself and the audience and this thing breaks the fourth wall all over the place in ways that shockingly aren’t annoying.
The bonus manga is such a silly series of running jokes that it’s kind of brilliantly ridiculous. It reminds me of a very famous Daffy Duck cartoon and that’s no mean feat. It also gets in a dig about how uncreative some people are.
It makes a great companion piece to the hilarious chapter about how Kouhai wants the perfect summer, just an anime/manga one. Not that humid and oppressive real world nonsense. Then again, this chapter has the only real fanservice, which pays off spectacularly in the ending.
So, lots of depth, but no real depth? Maybe that’s the point. I said I couldn’t give a high rating to something so empty, but this volume really made me appreciate how much effort is going into making this seem effortless.
4.5 stars - it even has a Rube Goldberg section, come on! This is infectiously charming and it deserves more praise than I originally gave it. This might be too much, course correction and all, but I think it’s a lot more clever than it appears at first glance.

Der zweite Teil hat mir tatsächlich noch was ein bisschen besser gefallen als der erste! Der dritte kommt voraussichtlich leider erst im Mai raus, aber ich freue mich schon sehr darauf! Die kleinen Geschichten gefallen mir wirklich gut!

This was just so much fun! Midnight escapes with bentos (and now I want to get one too, but I don't live in Japan so ARGH), getting stuck outside and making a party (which just made me laugh and I love the inventiveness of these girls... though next time check THAT), summer and winter (what to do when your manga takes place in the winter and it is hot outside? I loved their idea though I was indeed wondering how long it would take before things would just PLOP), and more! I laughed and I love these girls and their escapes. I do would like to see the girl who is unemployed get a job. Now she is just hanging around and I don't see her do any effort to do anything. I would just like to see her do a bit more.

Es geht in die zweite Runde bei der Realitätsfluch. Da der Manga eher episodenhaft erzählt wird, kann man auch gut mit Band 2 in diese Reihe starten, ohne dass man etwas verpasst hat.
Wobei ich mich hier gefreut habe, dass es Kapitel gab, die direkt aufeinander aufgebaut haben. Das sagt mir im Allgemeinen einfach mehr zu, weil ich so besser in die Geschichte komme. Der rote Fanden ist wieder die Flucht aus dem Alltag, so fallen den beiden Freundinnen auch in Band 2 wieder einige tolle Ideen ein. Sei es ein Ausflug in die Kindheit oder ans Meer und natürlich geht auch hier wieder etwas schief, sodass es zu einem witzigen Ende im jeweiligen Kapitel führt.
Ein Kapitel hat mir besonders gut gefallen, weil es etwas mit dem Leser spielt und manche Dinge auch hinterfragt werden, über die man sich vielleicht schon gewundert hat. Allgemein fand für mich eine Steigerung statt, so wurde zwar hier auch wieder getrunken, aber nicht so extrem wie noch in Band 1, vielleicht wird der Manga bis Band 4 dann ja trocken.
Wer einen süßen und kurzweiligen Manga sucht, der einen von der Realität ablenkt, ist mit Everyday Escape gut aufgehoben. Ich freue mich tatsächlich auf Band 3, was ich am Anfang von Band 1 noch nicht gedacht hätte. Klasse, wenn ein Manga sich im Verlauf steigert. Neugierig bin ich auch, weil er Manga bei manchen Seiten als Girls-Love gelistet ist, und nicht nur als Slice-of-Life Manga.

Der zweite Band der Slice of life Reihe bietet wieder eine Kurzgeschichten rund um die Alltagsflucht der Mangaka und der Arbeitslosen. Wem also der erste Band zugesagt hat, der kann auch bedenkenlos zum zweiten Teil der Reihe greifen. Die beiden Potagonistinnen erleben wieder unterhaltsame Situationen, von denen einige etwas tiefer in die Metaebene greifen. Die Kapitel, die zusätzlich zum Nachdenken angeregt haben, haben mir tatsächlich am besten gefallen. Alles in allem kann der Manga durchaus unterhalten und dient dazu selbst ein wenig dem Alltag zu entfliehen. Insgesamt hatte ich jedoch ein bisschen zu stark den Eindruck von Herumdrückerei statt Alltagsflucht, um auf neue Gedanken zu kommen. Wie bereits im ersten Band hatte ich das Gefühl, dass nur die negativen Seiten der jeweiligen Situationen der beiden beleuchtet werden. Positive Gedanken sind da leider wenig durchgeblitzt. Wo ich in Band 1 zum Beispiel noch das Gefühl hatte die Kreativität der Mangaka wird durch die Ausflüchte angespornt, wirkte es im zweiten Teil eher so als würde sie sich gerne vor der Arbeit drücken und hätte einfach nicht wirklich Spaß an ihrem Job. Auch bei der Arbeitslosen hätte ich es schön gefunden, wenn sie etwas Positives von ihrer Situation gewonnen hätte. Der Fokus lag mehr auf der »Alles egal«-Einstellungen, obwohl das Potenzial da war Themen wie Selbstfindung oder Ähnliches zu beleuchten. Unterm Strich strich ist die Reihe sehr unterhaltsam für Zwischendurch.

so silly....but so fun. this volume had a bit more structure to it, with actual continuity between most of the chapters. the late night drive, bento, and sunrise viewing was probably my favorite part. lots of silly humor intermixed with a dry final punchline panel. the yuri aspect to this is very subtle...they say they love each other at one point, and you can definitely tell they are totally comfortable and happy living together, but there isn't really a romance here. that being said, I am really enjoying this as a light, fun, and fluffy read!

God, I just want what they have.
That is to say, I want someone to vibe with, slack off, and just go on random adventures.
This series is, well, the perfect escape. It is low-key, chill, and pretty funny. It is a simple story of two people having fun in uncomplicated ways--but also so ridiculous at times. It kind of reminds me of Broad City with the way simple plots ramp up into becoming ludicrous. I love it, I want more of it

Ich finde es schade, dass die beiden Charaktere nichts wirklich Spannendes oder Außergewöhnliches erleben. Es bietet sich die Gelegenheit, großartige Szenerien zu zeichnen, die Figuren in neuen Umgebungen darzustellen und den Leser dazu zu inspirieren, sich Zeit für sich und seine Wünsche zu nehmen. Doch stattdessen dreht sich der Großteil der Handlung darum, zu trinken. Die Handlung entspricht überhaupt nicht meinem Geschmack.
Und zum Ende: Hat sie sich ihre Freundin jetzt eingebildet, oder nicht? Ich blicke wirklich nicht mehr durch.

Another absolutely delightful volume all about finding more chill ways to procrastinate as deadlines loom!
The short chapters make for perfect pallet cleansers between other readings, or in between other IRL tasks you *should* be doing.

I’m going to round my rating up to a 5 because the mood it struck was fantastic, and exactly what I wanted out of something like this.
Highly recommend, especially if you liked the last one!

4 stars. I was cheesing by the end of this one. This series is funny and super freakin' adorable. Also, the characters don't know each others names. LMAO! Just wacky and entertaining.
