It is a nice book about Scrum ... but like a lot of book that cover only part of the story, it has no end-to-end view. It was my first book about agile concepts and it immediately revealed something very strange. A lot of people, even those proposing agile values, look at problems only from on perspective. In this case the problem of software development is seen from the development perspective. All the burden is on the shoulders of the Product Owner, he has to decide what to do, he has to has to have the ultimate mandate to prioritize, etc. The problem: In reality it is not that easy and it is exactly on this side, the business side were things become challenging. So the most interesting part of software development is left out.
I recommend this book to everyone who is new to Scrum
Roman explains all the basics necessary to get started working in a Scrum team. He explains the roles, the artifacts, and the events. In addition he tells a little bit about the evolution of the product backlog, the role of long-term planning using release management, scaling, and establishing Scrum in organizations.
After reading this book I felt myself well prepared for my first Scrum project working as a team member. I was able to get along without any troubles.
