Book 1 is definitely much better then the other 2 volumes. Published in 2008, I guess the other more famous Singapore horror books overshadowed this series - namely the "True Singapore Ghost Stories". After 10 years, I chanced upon this series at my local library.

I must say that the stories are simple, easy-to-read and most importantly, too relatable to the point that I've got the chills just reading them at night. Different from those ghost-under-your-bed or the 'bomoh' or the boogeyman type, Paranormal Singapore's stories are subtle enough to make you think that it can happen to you too!

Definitely worth a read if you are looking for some light-reading. However, be warned, do not read this at night!

While it was an entertaining read as a whole, each individual story ranged from good to mediocre. There were many instances where I was tempted to exclaim, "Hey! This sounds just like something else I've heard/read!" but then again, I'm sure there is some degree of universality in the world of the paranormal.

Recommended short story from the book? "The Cell"...though you're likely going to be reminded of another story.
