Baghdad: la seconda guerra mondiale è alle porte e gli ebrei vivono con ansia i grandi mutamenti che sconvolgono il mondo. La convivenza con i musulmani e i cristiani della città appare ormai compromessa a causa delle ondate nazionalistiche. Le famiglie ebraiche si rinchiudono terrorizzate nei propri cortili, ma Nuri, il giovane, inquieto protagonista di questo romanzo, non esita a mettere a repentaglio la vita pur di partecipare attivamente agli eventi.

Read it in Russian, but that edition is not on GR. May be slightly formulaic, but it is, after all, a YA book.
