This was my first book by Morton and I absolutely gobbled it up. I usually could go either way on a rock romance. Take it or leave it. But I loved that the rockstar aspect wasn’t front and center really and more about the relationship Sam and Sophie have and the battles they each are facing.

Their romance is quite the slowburn. So if you’re looking for something more instantaneous, this story isn’t that. But their story is most definitely worth the burn and worth the read.

I enjoyed the friendship that Sam and Sophie shared. While they pretty much knew practically everything about one another, they each held something back. But it was still a great friendship, making what they had solid and beautiful.

All around great story, endearing characters and one heck of a romance. I need more from this new to me author. 5 Stars!!

This was my first book that I have read by Lizzie Morton and I can honestly say that it will not be the last! I really enjoyed this slow-burn, best friends to lovers, rockstar romance!

This book is a dual POV between Sophie and Sam. They have been best friends since Sam came to live with his Aunt & Uncle after his father’s death when he was 10. Little do they know, it was love at first sight for both of them but it took twenty years for them to fully acknowledge what that meant. Sam is struggling to find his voice on stage and Sophie is struggling to find the person she is meant to be. Through all of their ups and downs they seem to be the answer to each other's struggles!

It really is a great story with great characters! I love how they all have a long history together - they are very relatable. The only ones that I really don’t care for are the ones that Sam & Sophie are dating to avoid what was happening between them. This book has a lot of laugh out loud moments and also a lot of heartfelt moments. I adore how caring Sophie is with Russ and all of the “Sing to Heal” charity that she leads. Sam is the knight in shining armor!

This is the first book in a new series and I really cannot wait to read the next one!!!

Thank you to Lizzie Morton for the Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book in exchange for my
honest review.

Ok, so at first, I didn’t know what to think of this book. I read it in a few days but I was left feeling a bit bummed and confused. After reading the Fool Me series by @authorlizziemorton I was expecting a very full on steamy romance but this book was so much more.

I adored Sophie, she is a strong minded character who has her own beliefs and troubles. She has become close to a young boy, Russ who is the cutest and wants to help him as best she can.

Sam is a gent. He and Sophie have been friends forever and their both very stubborn. It’s so obvious they like each other but they keep fighting it. It was a slow burn romance between them before finally admitting how they felt.

The smut that was in the book was hot. You can tell the romance and passion was there for them both.

It was a very family orientated book with a hint of romance which was written very tastefully for the book. I have to say it was great and I can’t wait to read more.

Thank you to @authorlizziemorton for allowing me this book and to @instabooktours for having me on tour with you as always, its a dream!

This is the first book I’ve read by Lizzie Morton! Friends to lovers is definitely up there on my list of favorite tropes, so I loved getting to see Sam and Sophie’s relationship develop throughout this book. I felt most drawn to Sophie’s character, probably because of that battle between both wanting to just kinda be behind the scenes and hide away and wanting to stand out. And Russ? Well he’ll just steal your heart.

This was an enjoyable slow burn romance, and I’m glad I got the chance to discover a new author!

I loved this book. I loved the characters and I loved the story.

This is more than a friend's to lovers trope as there are other issues explored throughout.

It's definitely a slow burner but I never got bored and I never wanted things to go faster than how it was going.

There's a whole load of themes running through this book but I think Lizzie does a great job navigating them.

Sophie and Sam are best friends and sometimes you can't find what you're looking for because it's right in front of you 💕

TW: impostor syndrome, abuse, traumas, abandonment

POV : dual-first person, Sam and Sophie Parker

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Wanting You Always extrapolates human behavior and its reaction to success.

Sophie Parker is kind and caring. She comes from two successful musical legends, has a fantastic job with wonderful coworkers, and, to top that off, is a gifted singer. One would think that she has it all! But even surrounded with love and support, Sophie has much self-doubt that paralyzes and debilitates her from happiness. I am glad Sam comes through for her in the end, even if both Sophie and Sam picked "outstanding partners" at the beginning chapters. Both their partners are "scums of the universe" after what they did - no spoilers from me.

Sam may have had some issues with his "worthiness" to be part of a successful band, but he somehow worked it out better than what Sophie had to go through. Something happens in the book that throws Sophie from her controlled environment of self-doubt and denial to help someone dear to her unexpectedly. She had to face her issues head-on and fast to help others who urgently needed her. The solution was well-written and well-thought-out in the end, wherein I couldn't have thought of a better ending than what the author did.

Overall, Wanting You Always is a great read. It talks about finding one's worth and purpose in an industry that can be very unforgiving. It plays upon human insecurities and rears its ugliness unless one has the love and support of people around them. Sophie did in this book, and a lovely HEA does come out of it.

Title: Wanting You Always
Author: Lizzie Morton
Hero/Heroine: Sam & Sophie
Tropes: Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn,

TW/CW: Death of a parent, parental abandonment, detailed mention of adoption/fostering, infidelity, mentions of online trolling,

THE GOOD 😀

Having read a few great reviews of Lizzie Morton’s previous books, I was really excited to get stuck into Wanting You Always. I have to admit at first that I struggled slightly as there was mention of characters and storylines from previous books. However, once I got past this I was hooked; Sam and Sophie’s slow burn romance was a thing of beauty and I loved how they tiptoed around their feelings for each other.
Sam, lead singer of S.C.A.R.A.B and all round hottie, is having a crisis of confidence when it comes to singing. As well as this, he’s also dealing with some pretty intense feelings for his best friend of over twenty years. Sophie, trying to make amends for mistakes made in her past, is also battling these feelings as well as trying to manage her families acapella singing group. When she makes a life changing decision, it sets her and Sam on a path that neither of them were expecting.
Honestly, this story was so beautiful. Sam and Sophie had both experienced their fair share of heartache and grief, and only ever wanted to be accepted and loved for who they were. I loved seeing them both realise that what they needed was right in front of them, which made the slow burn well worth the wait. And the dynamic in their friendship group was epic, if friends could have chemistry, then this lot had it in abundance.
Wanting You Always was a wonderful friends to lovers romance that packed a bit of an emotional punch. Looking forward to the next in the series, I’m thinking Shaun and Zoe have a bit of a story to tell.

THE BAD ☹️

Brendan and Grace. Just ugh.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

Rockstar Romance✅

Plot 4✨
Spice 3🌶️

When Sam lost his parents at a young age two things helped him singing and Sophie. He loved the way singing made him feel and Sophie saw the true him. Now he is finding himself not being able to do the one thing that has come easy for him. If he is going to move forward in his career, he has to fix what is making him choke.

Being one of many offspring of famous parents makes life difficult especially for Sophie. Her mistakes and bad decisions have been plastered all over social media for everyone to judge. She decided to change everything about herself to become a different person, hoping she would just fade into the background. Too bad there will always be one person to see her, her best friend and lead singer of a popular band Sam.

What is making Sam choke?
When all the right decisions Sophie has been making turn out to be bad what will she do?
Will Sophie ever see what’s right in front of her, Sam?
Will Sam be able to help Sophie love herself the way he does?

First off thank you to the stunning Lizzie Morton for allowing me to read this before release.
The one thing that stuck out to me in this story was the meaning behind it all. Loving who you truly are and being yourself no matter what the world around you says. Just like Sam and her family I couldn't wait for Sophie to go back to her true self and stop hiding from the world. I cheered for her as the book went along and she finally accepted who she was mistakes and all. As for Sam the pain of watching him not be able to do the one thing he loved was hard but, in the end, when he found it all over again was magical. The love story between these two is one full of strength, hope, faith, and most of all plain old, make your heart flutter, give you butterflies love. I adored getting to watch it all unfold and cannot wait to see what the next book has in store for us.

I just loved so much about this book! Rockstar romance? YES! Best friends to lovers? Definitely YES! Getting all the feels? ABSOLUTELY YES!
Some of my favorite things were just the beautiful and heartwarming moments that get you in your feelings ✨Learning to trust yourself and that who you are is exactly who you’re supposed to be. Embracing yourself and doing what makes you happy; taking risks and not hiding from the scary things sometimes.
Sophie is struggling with creating this life that she thinks is good for her and also living up to, these sort of imaginary, expectations. Sam is also struggling with a crisis of self-doubt and ultimately, they find that they can lift each other up! Be each other’s person! I loved seeing their connection grow and I think the course of that was so perfect for the story and how they each stepped up to the challenges they were facing.
Something else that I loved? All of the family and friends that surrounded these Sam and Sophie. All the crazy and quirky of the dynamics made everything seem so much richer in character depth and just plain wonderful. 😊

✨“I love it. I love irrational Soph. I love every single side of Soph, especially the flawed parts. I love her flaws more than anything because it’s flaws that make a person human. No one is perfect and owning your mistakes shows true courage and resilience. Her flaws are also why people are drawn to her, even if she doesn’t see it herself, because perfect is intimidating, while being flawed connects us all.”
✨ “I want you. I want to love you. I want to grow old with you. I want it all, and I want it with you.”

My Opinion

There is no secret in the fact that I loved the Always trilogy so I was looking forward to seeing what she would do with these standalone novels. I went into this without really knowing what to expect but it was a pleasant surprise. Having read the trilogy I had background knowledge of the characters but as we are focused on different characters I feel like this would work well as a standalone.

A lovely slow-burn romance that gets off to a slow start, but trust me - it is worth it. The characters have flaws making the book feel more realistic. A great read!

ARC Review of Wanting You Always by Lizzie Morton
* * * * *
A romance that whimsically shows that taking that chance in falling for your best friend is more than worth it.

Sam and Sophie are both finding struggles in their life, but they always had each other.
Loss in family.
Bad decisions.
Trouble in their current life has started out again. Sam is facing a calamity in his career, with the pressure of intense changes for his band suddenly landing a world tour. Sophie wants to fade into the background and reach out at the same time, but it is hard to do when mummy and daddy are constantly in the spotlight and dropping major bombs on her.
Talk about a whirlwind of crazy demand.
Fighting against the mental troubles, expectations and fear of rejection, they start to open up to one another...and let the emotions they have always felt to finally take hold.
However, drama is ahead!
Can they hold on or break?

An epic slow burn, friends to lovers, celebrity romance facing many issues, falling and raging on different characters, and getting that satisfaction. Reading how Sam and Sophie grow together and separately was fantastic.
Russ is an absolute sweetheart, I just want to give him a hug. The sweet banter and lovely connection had my heart swelling. The sexual tension was just having me go 'please rip his shirt off and do him'!

Wanting You Always is the first book in the Always series, and it's a spin off of the Always Trilogy. I have not read the Always Trilogy, but I feel that it may have helped me understand bits and pieces of Wanting You Always. I say that because at times I was a bit lost with certain references to past events. That being said it didn't affect my enjoyment of this story.

I truly did enjoy Sam and Sophie's story. From the slow burn to the friends to lovers to the rockstar aspect, I found myself immersed in their world.

Then Lizzie had to go and add Russ to the story. My mom heart was immediately gone for that kid. Then his storyline changed a bit, and my heart sunk. While I don't like what happened in that situation, it did inspire what happened next.

I think it was Russ that really gave Sophie the courage to rediscover herself. It was because of him that so much happened. Yes Sam was by her side throughout, but this was different. This was Sophie taking a stand, and I loved that.

Oh, and I love Grams. She's the best.

While the start of the book confused me a smidgen, by the end I was loving the characters, enjoying their storylines, and rooting for that happily ever after. Now I need Shaun's story to be next. I won't accept anyone else. (okay maybe Sooz's story. maybe)

Wanting You Always is a sweet, slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance. Sam and Sophie have been best friends for 20 years, ever since Sam moved in next door to Sophie when they were kids. Sam fell in love with Sophie instantly, and has been yearning for her from the beginning. Unfortunately for him, Sophie doesn’t feel the same way about him….or does she?!

Sam is a famous rock star struggling with imposter syndrome. Sophie is the daughter of a famous singing duo, who doesn’t feel good enough to live up to the expectations of being their daughter. I loved Sam and Sophie’s friendship, and how supportive they are of each other. While helping each other deal with their problems in life, they realize they can’t fight their feelings for each other anymore. But is the risk of losing your best friend greater than taking the leap and loving them?

I loved how fiery and compassionate Sophie is, she’s the perfect counterpart to Sam’s calm and collected nature. Their relationship is a slow build, but the ride to get there is worth it. It is a standalone, but there will be more books in the series following other characters. I can’t wait for some of these side characters get their own stories!

Sam, Sophie, and Russ. The three musketeers, the perfect little trifecta, and the beat of my heart. Still crying...what a book! Where to start: the writing - the writing was phenomenal, Lizzie's words kill me every time, they suck me in like a vacuum and they just never let go - her characters, gosh darn it, her three core characters gutted me like a fish, embossed with so much depth, sorrow, grit, and gumption, that they left me a blubbering mess seeking out tissue ASAP- and that storyline...that storyline got me good; hook, line, and sinker, I was indeed done for - where she gets her ideas, only god knows, but Lizzie wields a golden pen and I am so happy I get the chance to benefit from it. I cannot wait for "Needing You Always," I need to hear from this little unit soon, until next time, I encourage you to have this book a read.

Note:

If you haven't read anything by Lizzie Morton, know that she is an author who grips you by the throat and makes you FEEL but also encourages you to LEARN; and my friends, that is a talent only the greats can create. My forever takeaway from this read in particular:

"...fuck what everyone thinks. Be unforgivingly you and everything you were made to be. Leave a mark on this world and people's lives that's impossible to erase."

AMEN!!

**Lizzie, you left me speechless, fulfilled, and forever grateful. I seriously cannot THANK YOU ENOUGH! BRAVO**

Friends to lovers, dual POV, slow burn. He has been interested in her forever. She’s in a relationship but he sucks so we hate him (there is no cheating on either of their ends). I hated his situationship (not like plot or writing wise just that she pissed me off😂). Had great themes about being yourself and imposter syndrome that were done pretty well and the side part with Russ was very sweet. This balances the edge of being fully a romance and being considered fiction instead and does it well. If you like your romances heavy on the plot then this is definitely a good one to pick up (there is a couple steamy scenes as well but not long ones).
My only critique is the beginning was hard for me to follow because I felt some things weren’t explained well and left me confused. I can see why some stuff wasn’t revealed at first but it really made me feel like I didn’t know what I was reading instead of leaving me anticipating a secret reveal (this was only about the first 15-20ish% though). This could just be a me thing but wanted to share so if anyone was feeling similar then you know to keep reading!

Wanting You Always by Lizzie Morton.

This was my first novel by Lizzie. The story follows Sophie and Sam, best friends forever who have come through a lot of challenges together and apart.  Sam has secretly been in love with Sophie since they first met all those years ago, Sophie hasn’t noticed – until now.    This may seem like the typical friends to lover trope, however, the supporting storyline really made this come to life.  I’ll admit – I didn’t 5* it as initially I found it a slow starter and I wasn’t sure where it was going, or if it was going, but once the story developed, I found I loved both main characters and their own growth – even if miscommunication is one of the most frustrating tropes to ever exist!   I also loved the Parkapellas –  It really tickled me and it was lovely and really supported the story so well.  Sophie’s grit, determination and growth really kept me reading and Sam’s unfaltering loyalty and love was sweet to see.

I’ll definitely be adding Lizzie to my authors to watch list.

While I am a fan of the friends to lovers storyline, the slow burn of this book left me wanting more. The chemistry between Sam and Sophie was off the charts, but with minimal steam and spice, it didn’t match the chemistry on the page.

Sam is the lead singer of the band S.C.A.R.A.B. and Sophie is the daughter of an iconic rock duo. Sam and Sophie meet as kids when Sam moves in with his aunt and uncle. There has always been an undercurrent of something between them. Sophie is struggling with over extending herself in many ways and Sam is struggling with the popularity of the band.

When they do come together, it's magic, but the chaos of life continues on for them. I wished they had a bit more time to just be a couple, but there is a lot going on for these characters in the story.

If you like slow burn friends to lovers this is the book for you. It is a stand alone, but some of the side characters have their own series that may give more background to some parts of this book.Thank you to the author for the ARC.

The first book in a new series, and boy I was looking forward to this book. The cover alone is swoonworthy!! Well who doesn't like eye candy?
A romance story that was a slow burn and had all the ingredients to make it a heartwarming read.I think I fell a little in love with Sam along the way! It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside as I read this.
The fact that Sophie adopts Russ, a young boy she becomes very close too, had me emotional. This brought even more depth the story. It isn't just about a relationship between two people, but a child is involved too. This changes the parameters for a relationship. Lizzie Morton has dealth with this really well and it made it a little different from the run of the mill romances I see.
I am looking forward to the next book and will be waiting to see who will be the central character.
Thanks to Instabooktours and Lizzie Morton for allowing me to come along for the ride.

There is never any doubt that Lizzie Morton puts everything into her romance stories, whether full of heat from the start or as with 'Wanting You Always' a spinetingling, best friends to lovers rock star romance, and although this is a slow burn story there is no doubt of the chemistry between Sophie and Sam, even if both of them are denying the sizzling heat and the connection that clearly shows that they could be more than friendship between the pair.

However, this is more than a romance and, the path these two will travel on to their HEA is not going to be easy for either of them especially crossing the line from friends to lovers is going to be even harder, but Ms Morton articulates beautifully from the start this couples mesmerising connection, although as I said this is a rockstar sort of romance, it really doesn’t play a centre stage in this marvellous story, 'Wanting You Always', is so much more than a romance as it deals with many different issues

This was a slow burn. Hard to get into at first but as I pushed through, I realised it was worth wait. The self growth in Sophie is amazing, I just loved how we could see her confidence blooming. I felt so bad for Sam as he was fighting demons that were holding him back, but I true fashion, he made it out the other side. The story is based in the music industry and the struggles they face daily.

This is a true love story between Sam and Sophie which has been going on for ages and at times I wanted to bash their heads together and communicate, but the relationship between them mostly made my heart melt.

Abit spicy but definitely not your smutty reads. Just the perfect amount of sexiness for a beautiful romance.

I loved the Fool me series by this author, and thanks to Insta book tours and Lizzie, I have now found another series I can indulge in

Thank you for allowing me to be part of the tour and for reviewing your amazing work ❤️

Sam and Sophie have been childhood friends, but there is one thing they have always kept from each other...how they really feel!

Their lives have always been intertwined but with Sam being unable to sing live (rahter a large problem when you are the lead singer of a rock band) and Soph who is living a life hiding who she really is and wants to be, can they work together to both find themselves and their voices again.

The relationship between Sam and Soph was so well written, you were routing for them to see what has always been in front of them! Meeting Russ was a whirlwind and you just wanted him to have the happily ever after he deserved.

If you want a slow burn, friends to lovers romance this is the one for you. Lizzie has once again written an amazing book with characters you become invested in.

It's been a while since I've read one of Lizzie's book and gosh I had forgotten how easy they were to read. I was told going into this that the characters are from a different series, but honestly, I learnt so much about them in this book it's safe to say you don't have to have read it before this to enjoy it.

I enjoyed the musical aspects in the book and all the different friendship groups. It did feel like a lot of character but they are all so easy to get to know!

Sam was a very loving character and his banter was funny. I liked how they all had realistic issues so everything seemed very real. Sophie was a force to be reckoned with, I loved how her strength grew throughout the book. The other plot with Russ really got to my heart ❤️

Another brilliant book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series ☺️

This book was my first Lizzie Morton book and it won't be my last. I loved it. For me personally this story started off slow but it soon picked up and by the end I couldn't put it down and needed to know how this book finished.

This is a friends to lovers trope based book and I enjoyed reading about Sam and Sophie's friendship developing into something more, they were best friends and became such a cute couple. The part of the book I enjoyed the most was the storyline involving Russ, it was so cute to see the family bond blossom between them all and survive the struggles that would occur with adopting and overall becoming a family unit. All the characters are likeable and lovable, making reading this book even more enjoyable.

This is a wonderful slow burn romance. The relationship between Sam and Sophie is beautifully written. This a friends to lovers tripe, and written quite realistically, which I really enjoyed.

The characters are written really well, both main characters have their flaws which makes them very relatable. They also develop as individuals as well as their relationship with each other and it was great seeing how their relationship evolved.

You definitely become invested in their relationship and you can see from the way it's written that the author really cares for these characters.

Brilliant romance, perfect for lovers of romance, especially a slow burn.

Thanks @authorlizziemorton for the opportunity to read this ARC of this book.

I loved the story of Sophie & Sam, the rawness of their emotions for each other was beautiful.

What happens when friendship grows into something else?

All the emotions in this book from chuckling to Sam's sarcasm to Russ pulling on the heart strings.

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Slow

While this book was pretty good, the ending just dragged. It just felt like it could have been summed up instead of 2 or 3 extra chapters at the end. Personal opinion, but as someone who loves the never-ending books because I don't want them to end, that's saying something. As for the rest, the build-up to the falling for your best friend was very slow. Felt more like a "find yourself" book. Which is fine, but I wouldn't really consider it a romance. I wouldn't tell you not to read either, just more that it's about finding yourself & being confident in you. I won't be continuing with the series. Good luck to those that do. On to the next!

Wanting You Always exceeded every expectation. Lizzie created characters that you couldn't help falling for if you tried. This was the first slow burn I've read that I didn't want to rush. The story is complex and beautiful. The friendship of Sam and Sophie made me wish for a relationship like that growing up. The people surrounding them made me want a group of people to support me like they did the MMCs. Basically I wished Lizzie wrote my story. I laughed, I cried, I want to reread it instantly. I can't recommend this book enough!

This was a slow burn romance and I loved it. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

I really liked both Sophie and Sam you could see how they both deeply cared for one another and the friendship was one they had shared for many years.

I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed and how they changed as time went on.

I’ve really enjoyed all the previous books I’ve read by this author and look forward to reading more in the future.

Thank you to Instabooktours and the author for having me on the tour and for my gifted ebook.

This was the first book I have read by Lizzie but it definitely won’t be the last. Did you know there is a trilogy called Always? I can’t wait to read them ❣️

I absolutely love best friends-to-lovers romance books and this was so beautifully written. I fell in love with it and with the characters too.

Sophie and Sam have known and loved each other for 20 years. That “friendship” love turned into more over the years, but neither of them wanted to admit. Understandable, as they didn’t want to lose the other, in case the feelings were not mutual .
Oh but they are …

Sophie being Sophie listens to her head, instead of her heart, so it takes a bit longer for her to cross the line with Sam.
But when she does, and they are behind closed doors, oh my heart . The chemistry is off the charts.
It makes you wonder, why the hell did they wait so long ?!

I loved the fact that the book wasn’t just about their friendship growing into love. It was about so much more. Growing as a person, love unconditionally, thinking about other people’s needs and it’s about realising that sometimes you CAN be selfish.
Sophie being indecisive reminded me of myself actually. And then I realised it’s because she was thinking of other people’s needs first . I loved how much she’s grown.

And I absolutely loved Sophie and Sam’s friendship. They are definitely lucky to have each other.

Can’t wait to read the next in series, 𝘕𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴.
