A smooth billionaire winemaker. A compassionate bidder with a loving heart. With just one sip, it all gets a little WICKED. BRIX As head winemaker of the Los Caballeros winery, I like to keep it cool, collected, and smooth. Knowing my weakness, my sister sends in a secret weapon—Addison Reagan—to convince me to be in the bachelor auction. There’s no way I can turn her down.
After all, she’s everything I’ve been missing. With her unassuming and kind nature, I am bowing down to her every need, and measuring every moment.
ADDISON I have one mission: get Brix into the bachelor auction. Easier said than done. Brix is stubborn and distant. I’m beyond shocked when he agrees. Of course there’s a catch. There always is with a man like him. I have to be the winning bidder. Not a problem. After all, he’s sexy, charming, and irresistible. He sets me on fire.
With Brix, things are about to heat up. And just when it does, my demons come barreling back. Can I count on a WICKED WINEMAKER to save me from the past?

Wicked Bachelors:Brix is book 1 in the new series The Wicked Winemakers’ Ball my Heather Slade. We have met these swoon worthy men, the Avila family in another series called Butler Ranch also a series you don’t want to miss!
Up first is the eldest son, Gabriel (Brix) Avila and Addison Reagan who he has had a secret crush (so he thinks) on for sometime. His sister is determined to get him for the bachelor auction which he has turned down in years past with the help of Addison…
Secret society, drama, action, wine makers, steamy and so much more…can’t wait for more of the Avila brothers!
Lord Almighty does this author know how to write a story!! Reading Brix and Addison’s story is like being IN the story with them. Heather Slade does not leave out the little details needed to keep turning the pages. This book took me about 17 hours to read, then I went back and re-read it again. I absolutely loved every word on every page!!! I am so looking forward to Ridge’s story…. I’m guessing he ends up with a lady that drives him crazy!!! Thank you Heather, I would most definitely give this story more than five stars if I could!!!
Brix is the head winemaker he is refusing to be in the bachelor auction, that his sister has organised. So she sends in Addison and Brix finds that he can't say no to her but he has his own conditions. It is going to cost Addison .We have twists and turns and you have a really great page turner.

This was more like a mystery than a love story and i'm not sure how i feel about that.
Brix owns a vineyard and Addison works in his sisters bar. They are both crushing on each other but haven't said anything to each other. Alex (the sister) asks Addy to ask Brix to participate in the bachelor auction which he has always refused before but he tells Addy he will only do it if she wins the bid. In the blurb it make the auction out to be the main story but its only briefly mentioned at the beginning and the briefly at the end.
Addy's step father beats her mum and puts her in the hospital and then someone burns down the diner so Brix takes them to his ranch/vineyard to protect them were they get kidnapped so he did a good job. Next she is in jail for murder.
So Brix is in a secret society who are like vigilantes and they try to find out who really did the murder. The rules for been in the society i found funny but ill let you decide.
She sees him hit a wall and becomes scare of him suddenly but then he whisks her off to mexico so she is safe and the share a kiss. All of a sudden hes in love with her and asking why they waited so long to be together without making sure that is what she wanted. She did which is good. He wont sleep with her though until the bachelor auction where he has planned her perfect date after eavesdropping on a private conversation she had.
The find the real killer which was over fast but honestly it wasn't who i though it was going to be so points for that. They have the auction, she wins and they go have sex. The epilogue was good but too short but the book finished at 97% which i love. I hate only getting to 90% of a book and thinking you have more story then its done.
I knocked off a point because i do like a little more steam in my stories and they only have sex once right at the end. Also the book is set in Spain (i think) which isn't a problem but i am wondering if the story has been translated because there's some sentences that were worded weird or just didn't sound right. Its not a huge problem but it stopped the flow. There is a lot of side characters with some odd names and it was difficult to keep up sometimes
DNF. So many mistakes from the beginning of the book.
I just can’t read this, it’s so bad. Addison lives in an apartment above her mothers garage and sees her EVERYDAY at the diner her mother owns. The doctor tells Addison that her mother has had several broken bones before including her arm, and Addison didn’t know, was the stupidest thing I’ve ever read! Addison who sees her mother everyday doesn’t see a pot on her mothers arm? Or leg? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 She doesn’t hear her mother getting beaten up by her husband? Doesn’t see her mothers face bruised? Then just to make it even more idiotic, her mother has three broken bones in her arm and is going to work as a cook in the diner. OH COME ON!
Then there’s the love story between Brix and Addison. 😂😂😂. That’s a joke as well. He’s known her for how long and he barely speaks to her, NEVER smiles at her, yet is supposedly madly in love with her? She’s just as bad as she has feelings for him, yet she never speaks to him apart from asking him what he wants to eat at the diner or the vineyard.
Brix is part of a secret society that save people in need of trouble. None of them have any army training but they’re all really well trained. Erm… So the woman Brix is in love with lives in the same house as a violent man yet he’s NEVER CHECKED HIM OUT?? Never investigated who he is that she lives with? He’s so well trained that he doesn’t notice that her mother is always getting beaten up and taken to the hospital???? None of the close knit community notices her mother either! I just can’t. I’m sorry it’s terrible. The mother isn’t someone that I admire either. Addison explains that her mother has always picked really bad men, but this one is the worst. He made her remortgage the house to buy the diner, which she makes her daughter work in and barely makes any money. Addison has to work at winery every night to earn enough money to live on. Everyone notices that Addison is exhausted all the time as she finishes work at 1am then goes to work at the diner at 4am. Yeah her mother is a great person. Not!
Sorry it’s terrible and their ‘romance’ doesn’t get going till way past the halfway point. It’s all about Addison and her mother, and Alex’s Brix’s sisters vineyard.
Brix finds himself often driving to Stave when he knows Addison will be working. He hasn't asked her out but does find himself spending as much time as he can around her. Including having breakfast at her mother and stepfather's diner, where she waitressed in the mornings.
Addison has a bit of a crush on Brix but she doesn't delude herself that the head winemaker and owner of Los Caballeros Vineyards would be interested in her. She lives in an apartment over the garage at her mother and stepfather's house and works two jobs to make ends meet. Not exactly a catch.
Things are about to change though as she rushes to the hospital to be with her mother. She has no idea of the extent of the abuse her mother has been going through, it's far more than the arguments she's heard. What she find shocks her and has her feeling guilty for not knowing, although her mother still insists she just fell down the stairs. The fact that this is not the first visit to the ER has Addison more than a little concerned.
She's more than a little surprised to find Brix parked by the house when she returns with her mother. Her co-worker Samantha drove her to the hospital and then helped get her mother home. Brix upon hearing Addison would be opening the diner by herself, steps up to say he'd see her there when she opened.
In the meantime Brix has his friend Press dig into Peg's husband, Dennis, what he finds isn't good and raises even more concerns over Addison and Peg's safety.
Many people showed up to help with the diner including Brix's mother and later his sister Alex, Addison's other boss. Alex had another agenda though and wants Addison to ask Brix to be in the Bachelor Auction. The answer he gives isn't quite what Addison expects.
All this occurs before someone burns down the diner and a large insurance policy on Peg's life comes to light.
Things take quite a twist when Brix gets the Los Caballeros involved and his relationship with Addison heats up as well.
I love the way everything comes together especially with all the twists and turns.
Ms. Slade is returning to her winemaking roots in this spin-off of her original Butler Ranch series. Brix (Gabriel) is the eldest Avila sibling, whose brother and sister have both married into the Butler family. In this fast-paced action romance, Brix realizes that his quiet crush on Alex's employee, Addison, is gearing up into protective overdrive as an unknown threat targets both Addison and her mother.
Addison is a wonderfully strong, compassionate character who is willing to sacrifice everything for her family. Brix is the perfect blend of heroic and supportive and I loved his no-nonsense approach to solving whatever problems stood in their way.
I loved that we get to know more about the entire Avila family after reading both Cris and Ainsley's and Alex and Maddox's love stories. I adore the way the characters always put family first, especially the focus on both the elder and younger generations.
The introduction of the Los Caballeros Society has me already hooked on all the future books in this series. It wouldn't be a Heather Slade book without an exciting action and suspense storyline, and this one has many twists and turns as well as a jaw-dropping secret that made me reexamine everything I'd already read. I loved the way that particular part of the story was wrapped up and how it answered so many questions from earlier.
The auction part was a lot of fun to read, and I especially loved the timing of how that fit in with the overall progress of Brix and Addison's romance. It really made everything so much more meaningful, and gave me a new vacation destination for the next time I'm in California!
Brix and Addy get a beautiful HEA, her mom gets a fresh, exciting new start, and we're introduced to the next couple who are already dealing with a huge conflict of interest. I highly recommend this book and am anxiously awaiting the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This book was interesting and had a lot going on. The romance was not particularly the main thing at all times and I actually really liked it. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because Addison ticked me off a little too much sometimes. She seemed like such a strong heroine at first and then by mid-book, she was all upset over everything and feeling sorry for herself. Brix stayed steady the whole book and that is what got me through it apart from the storyline itself.
Without giving too much away, there is a mystery that is solved in this book and it has a lot of twists and turns. I thought that part of the plot was interesting and I was always trying to guess what would happen next. I enjoyed that a lot. I also enjoyed Los Caballeros and that whole society thing. It's like a cross between the mafia and a bro club and I am here for it. I think the only thing I am not fond of (and this is a personal thing) is that it's roots are in the Knights Templar. I've played Assassin's Creed and I am firmly against the Templars. Sorry, I was just trying to make a joke :). Seriously though, the secret society thing is cool!
I actually would love to learn more about the Los Caballeros aspect of the books. The blurb for Book 2 is in the back of this one and I am here for that. I want Sera and Ridge's story honestly more than I wanted Addison and Brix and their HEA. Part of me wants to go back and read the series that has Maddox and Naughton in it too. I probably will. I hope that decision alone prompts you to give this book and/or author a chance!

Okay to start out we have: 1. Secret Society (Los Caballeros Society -association of brothers and their wine) 2 The bachelor auction (oh how can I get an invite to this) This is book one part of The Wicked Winemakers’ Ball series with the Avila brothers and their Winery each book reads as a standalone yet connect because it features one of the brothers and the women that brings them to their knees. Addison is a mix of strong, sweet, protective, and compassionate when it comes to her family, she will fight you tooth and nail for her family so making sacrifices isn’t even a question for her. Gabriel (Brix) sexy as all get out oldest brother serious by nature, no nonsense kind of guy, very charming when needed, oh and extremely protective like Addison he will do whatever it takes for his family he knows what/who he wants and doesn’t mind putting in the work to get them/it and that happens to be Addison she can get him to do things he normally wouldn’t do. The chemistry is there intense and the magnetic pull between them is strong although she has so much on her plate, usually so strong but there a parts where she just breaks down which I loved simply because it showed she was normal like the rest of us when we get fed up we have a break down and get right back to it but Brix was right there to hold her through it all lending her his strength to keep coming but when a few twists & turn heads their way will they weather the storm together, will her mother’s situation get better, and can they find their own HEA?.

This is book one in The Wicked Winemakers Ball series and it is Brix and Addison's story. Omg I absolutely loved this book and what a great start to a new series. Brix is the head winemaker for the Los Cabelleros Winery but when he refused to be in the bachelor auction his sister sends in Addison and Brix finds that he can't say no to her but he has his own conditions after all he likes her and will do almost anything for her but will she agree or will his plans backfire. Addison is going to try and convince Brix to go into the bachelor auction but she doesn't hold out much hope of being successful so imagine her surprise when he said yes but what will it cost Addison and how will it effect her life going forward. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout and I couldn't put it down and then add in the twists and turns and you have a really great page turner and I can't wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens next and it is definitely worth reading.
Wicked Bachelors is a new series featuring prominent winemakers who are also members of a centuries-old seciety. It is a spin-off from Ms. Slade's Butler Ranch series and we get to meet quite a number of characters from those books. While it may help to have read them for the background information, Brix's story stands completely on its own. He and Addison have been dancing around each other for a long time when threats to both her and her mother bring out his protector instincts and call out the society for help. Their road to a HEA is full of suspense and mystery with an incredibly surprising turn that I never saw coming! I wish we would have learned more about the Los Caballeros society but from the brief look we get into the next book, I'm guessing that many open questions will be answered then. I can't wait!.

As you navigate the Butler Ranch, you come across the swoon worthy brothers of the Los Cab winery with the Avila brothers. Brix dives you into the head brother of the Avila family. Gabriel, aka Brix, is protective and charming and will most definitely steal your heart. He’s a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. In his story you’ll discover a secret society among the winery families. Of course there are Easter eggs from Butler Ranch characters and our favorite Avila sister, Alex. You also discover Addison in Brix’s storyline. She is strong and independent. She really has her own Cinderella story that will make you root for her and want happiness to finally reach her and her mom. Loads of potential as you dive into this series and you’ll find yourself anxiously awaiting the next book. You will never be disappointed when you pick up a Heather Slade book.
Heather Slade makes things very interesting in Brix's Bid by adding: arson, murder, blackmail, the Irish Mafia, a secret society and domestic violence to this love story. It's fast paced with some surprising twists and turns.
Gabriel "Brix" Avila is a the oldest son of a multi-generational wine making damily. He's hard working, dedicated, uncompromising and a man of few words. Addison Reagan is equally hard working and dedicated but definitely on the opposite end of the social and economic spectrum from Brix. What she doesn't know is that he's been watching her and biding his time. When her mother's injured it's the impetus for Brix to make his move which takes Addy completely by surprise. What ensues is dramatic, danger filled, emotionally charged and possibly life altering, if Brix has his way. Does she dare ho with her heart?
Brix has been going to the diner and the bar, Stave, so he can see Addison, she works at the diner for her mother, Peg, and stepfather, Dennis, and at the bar to earn enough to live. One day she gets a call that her mother is at the hospital, her friend, Sam, drives her over. Her mother's arm is broken in three places, she's insisting she fell downstairs. Brix is trying to help, deciding now's the time to let his feelings be known, but Addison thinks they're too different, even though she has feelings for him. Then things take a turn for the worse. Who is targeting Peg and Addison? And why? What is Dennis mixed up in?

Addison never expected Brix or any of his family or the wider community come to her and her Mum's aid after her Mum is injured, she also never expected the danger she and her Mum would face due to her step father. I loved how you not only get a story about community, family whether by blood or not as well as danger, twists and an attraction that once out in the open can't be contained. You are kept on your toes not only about who is behind everything but the danger comes very close to everyone, I loved seeing Addison and Brix come together as well as Brix sticking to his guns in showing Addison that he wants her and has always wanted her.

“No one should have to live with abuse—from anyone—let alone their husband.“ This story is full of xxxxx. “One of our own is in trouble.” “What happened?” asked Kick. It’s Addison and she’s been arrested.”
Brix was the head winemaker of the Los Caballeros winery. He was known as a man of few words, especially when it came to small talk. So why was he sitting at the bar hoping he got a chance to talk to her? “How many times had I fantasized about making Addison Reagan mine?” I’d lost count.
Addison has one mission: get Brix into the bachelor auction. Easier said than done. Brix is stubborn and distant. “And he was so far out of my league he might as well be from another planet.” He had taken my breath away from the first time I met him. I was captivated by his quiet broodiness.
He was a wicked bachelor, but he was the kind of wicked she wanted in her corner. When Addison found herself in trouble, Brix was her rock. He had been interested in her in a very long time, and she was interested in him in just as long. Finally, after many refusals, Brix agrees to be in the bachelor auction. He refused his sister, many times, but when Addison asked, he could not refuse. However, there was a stipulation; she had to be the winning bidder. However, before the auction happened, Addison’s life would turn upside down.
Secrets, danger, and romance will keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like romance with suspense and a bit of mystery.

A new series from Heather Slade! Wonderful is the perfect description for Brix and Addison's romance. Brix is the billionaire head winemaker at Los Caballeros ranch and has long been enamored with Addison but never acted on his attraction. Addison is a waitress raised by a single mother and constantly struggling financially. She has fantasized about Brix for years but held little hope of Brix ever looking at her. He was so far out of her league and she didn't consider herself as pretty as the socialites he was surrounded by. When Addison and her mom are threatened, Brix jumps in to help and refuses to be deterred. Such a lovely romance. I loved everything about it, the story, the characters, and the slow burn romance. Can't wait for more!!
This is a brilliant start to a new series by one of my favourite authors This series is set in the loves of the Avila brothers and the winery that is their legacy. This first book is the oldest brothers story
Gabriel (Brix) is the eldest brother and he is the quite no nonsense one as well and he believes that the bachelor auction that his sister is organising is nonsense. His sister has a secret weapon though Addison and she sends her in Brix does cave but he has his own stipulation Addison has to be the one to win him at auction. Because he is a protector at heart for all that he loves and he is realising that is also Addison Can they have a future You will have to read to see
Brix The Wicked Winemakers Ball book one is Brix and Addison’s story. Oh my word what a story. Ms. Slade has completely out done herself with Brix. I could not put this book down! This is book one in this series, I am very anxious to see how this goes forward I’m not sure how she can out do Brix so I’m looking forward to the next book. This story is about romance, passion, family, close friends, secrets, twists and turns, danger that keeps you on the edge keeping you turning pages. I Highly recommend. I received an Advance Reader’s Copy and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinions.
In my opinion Heather Slade has written another great book. This was a great book it has suspense, danger and most definitely some great chemistry. I enjoyed Brix he is the sexy head winemaker of the family winery, he is a loyal man to family and friends with a soft spot for the lovely Addison. Addison has one goal to get the charming Brix to agree to be in his sister's bachelor auction, he has one condition. This is just the start to one fun and exciting book with some twist and turns along the way. This was a great start to a new series I can't wait for more. I highly recommend this book.
At first I was so disappointed that the story in the newly-released Desire After Dark collection only included the first part of the adventure with a big cliff-hanger! BUT the author provided a link to the rest of it for those signing up for her newsletters! I was all in, so I got the rest of the story - and it was SO GOOD!!
I haven't read all of the stories in Desire After Dark yet, but the ones I've read were so good - and it's only $.99 right now - that it's worth it to get just this story and the sign-up for Heather's e-mails!
This is the first entry in this delightful new series, and I've got to say that I am here for it! I really enjoyed Brix and Addison's story. The writing is well-done, and this book reads sinfully smooth. The smartly crafted combination of romance and heart pairs beautifully with the drama, suspense and action. This means this book delivers the feels and swoon you crave while sending your pulse racing and stealing your breath. I thought it was incredible and I am super excited to read any and all future entries in this enticing series. This is my volitional, forthright review.
Addison is very overwhelmed with her life at the moment, the book takes off from page one in Addison's life with extreme events happening one after the other. "You and me.", it was early in the book when Brix told her that, but she really did not know what it meant. Loved is ability to hold out til the perfect moment, also loved all the descriptions about what is involved in winemaking. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the introduction to all the other characters that I hope to learn about soon. This book made me smile.
Heather Slade starts another great new series. Brix Avila, head winemaker of the Los Caballeros winery, has a crush on Addison Reagan. She feels out of his league. This story has domestic violence, murder, secrets, and romance. The page-turner keeps you guessing what will happen next. The characters have great chemistry once they explore their feelings. I love this story and look forward to other bachelors in this series finding their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Brix Avila and Addison Reagan are front-and-center on this first book in the series. Brix has continually refused to take part in the bachelor auction, so his sister enlists the help of Addison to convince him to enter it this year.
Addison indeed gets his attention, but Brix wants to make things work out to his advantage. When she finally gets him to agree to participate, he insists that Addison must win the bid for him. Will she agree with his terms? And what happens when her past threatens to put her and others in danger?
I am not sure that I even know where to begin writing a review for this because it is truly an awesome experience.
The author did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and I can't wait for the other characters to get their stories!
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story that had me wanting this book to go on and on.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I devoured this book in an afternoon. The author writes such complex, endearing and entertaining characters. They grab your interest and little by little they become like favorite friends. Someone you’re able to trust, care about and invest in. I absolutely love the references to characters in other books written by Heather. While each book is technically a stand alone, there are enough references that it feels like catching up with an old friend. Can’t wait for the rest of the Wicked Winemakers!
Brix and Addison have been attracted to each other for years. Neither wanting to make a move, they stayed stagnant until her and her mom’s lives were in danger. Then, steps in Brix with all his Los Caballaros members. This action filled love story keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The highlight for Brix and Addison is he Winemaker’s Ball. Wait until you read what he has planned. There’s a bit of everything in this story; mystery, murder, action, steamy scenes, assumptions, miscommunication, romance and love. A great start to a new series!
