Before entering higher education, most students’ learning experiences have been traditional and teacher-centered. Their teachers have typically controlled their learning, with students having had little say about what and how to learn. Good, research-backed practices for creating a learner-centered classroom. Many practices not applicable to some fields. A lot of examples shows a bias towards skill-based fields such as writing, which is the authors background. Nonetheless, there are many valuable gems throughout the book that are applicable to any classroom and it gets the reader thinking and evaluating their own classrooms.
