Shocking and brutal true crimes against innocent victims who deserved to have their stories remembered. 20 Shocking Stories in Each Volume
Volume 1 includes . . . Death by Fire:
◆ Psychologists have long recognized there can be a fine but critical line between the devoted firefighter who loves being part of a heroic, life-saving team and the arsonist who loves starting fires to gleefully watch the destruction, murder and mayhem. Polar opposites. Yet, in California in the 1980s, these two personalities were inside the same person.
Killer Power Couple:
◆ Readers of true crime stories are accustomed to learning about deranged, sadistic people who live secret lives consumed with malicious and violent fantasies and desires. But it’s very rare for two of these monstrous people to find each other, marry, and go on a joint torture and killing spree.
The Vampire of Sacramento:
◆ An inordinately disturbed child with an affinity for arson and killing animals becomes a young man with erectile dysfunction that stems from his anger toward women. Too soon, his whirlwind of extremely deviant behavior erupts into multiple homicides in which he drinks his victims’ blood and brutalizes his victims’ bodies.
Who Killed Mama Edna?:
◆ Belief in the spirit world can be powerful. Whether it’s the power of faith, the power of evil, or the power of suggestion is a matter for endless discussion and debate. But one night in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, that belief took a sudden, frightening and fatal turn between two friends who had happily known each other for years.

A Word of Warning
The details of these murders come directly from eyewitness accounts, interviews, police reports, court transcripts, crime scenes, and autopsy reports. They contain disturbing facts that may not be for everyone.
Jamie Malton is an American, non-fiction writer. She is the author of Killer Case Files: Jamie Malton’s Best True Crime Series which is an anthology of crime stories where the author examines the homicides perpetrated by murderers and serial killers.
Drawn to the how and why of real crime stories and fascinated by the detailed police work, DNA reconstruction, and genetic genealogy, she started writing her books to share the details of these stories with her readers.
For book research, she splits her time between the USA and European destinations where she often visits some of the places where crimes have occurred.
With criminal apprehension and victim restitution as a personal cause, she donates a portion of her book sales to charities that fund DNA reconstruction to solve cold cases and charities that support the families of murdered victims.
You can reach her at JamieMalton.com where she curates her research into Case Files for her book readers.
While most of the cases presented in this work are from the US, there are appearances from Canada, the UK, and even Australia.
The killers are not all solo acts, there are partnerships, couples, and even a team. It seems nothing brings some people together like murder. Conversely, nothing seems to rip those same loyalties to shreds like getting caught. The result of so many different perpetrators is an immense cross section of the population meeting an untimely demise, usually in an equally unpleasant manner.
Some of the cases are just individual murders committed out of jealously or rage, while others seem more like spree killings or just killing for any reason. Of course what would any collection of true crime murders be without the serial killers making their appearances. And this collection is no different. We have not just serial killers, but even serial killing couples.
This is not a bad book, it is also not a great book. It is an average book. The author has done a good job of providing variety and giving an efficient and effective overview of the cases included. I do not like the promised "bonuses" requiring that I hand over my email in order to access them. While I appreciate the needed marketing, it seems a little much to me.

Nice selection of cases. A couple sadly did not have resolutions. I don’t enjoy those nearly as much, but the stories are still interesting. I just feel bad for the families, but I can certainly appreciate the hard work detectives put in on cases for decades to keep searching and rehashing cases to apply new technology in hopes for that big break that leads to justice for the victims and their families.
A couple of cases I was quite familiar with from other books and tv shows, but it’s always good to see a different angle and usually there are some details that are new. As such, I don’t mind that much.
I like that the author takes care to shine a spotlight on the victim and many times what the families are doing after the case is closed to keep their loved one’s memory alive and doing some good on the world. I highly recommend checking out this or any other books by Jamie Malton. Cases are concise and to the point with care taken to provide detail without just going for shock value. Solid 4 stars.
I love True Crime stories from the snow town murders to the stories I hadn’t read before the stories a great and are not copy and paste but you can tell that they’re well researched and thoughtfully written. I enjoyed this book as much as you can enjoy a true crime story where the innocent suffer. But despite the tragedy everyone deserves the have their story told and that’s exactly what the author does in “killer case files “they have 21 stories and all of very interesting. I received this book from Book Sirens and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Fascinating Tragic Events Killer Case Files, by Jamie Malton is an anthology of true crime stories. There are 20 true crime stories and I found I had never heard of most of the killers and their stories are truly shocking murders inflicted on innocent people. It is very well researched and written and I found this book remarkably interesting and very easy to read. I found this book kept my full attention and it kept me turning the pages. A great book for true crime readers I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I must admit I didn't know what to expect especially when you are reading true crime. But I found her books were very easy to read and to the point. But what I truly loved is the extras! I love how you can access her site and see the pictures and extra articles and even sometimes court stuff (even though that is rare!) That being said I think she will definitely be an author I continue to read and follow! I just hope she can keep up with me as that seems to be the issue..... but I'm def looking forward to it regardless
The stories in this volume are interesting but poorly written. A few of the cases you may be familiar with. However, you might discover something you weren't aware of. There, I've managed to twice violate that rule about not ending a sentence with a preposition.
If you're a true crime fan, you might want to look into the Killer Case Files series.
Great stories in this audiobook. Some that I knew about and others that I didn't. The stories were short and provided high level overviews of a bunch of different cases. The only thing that drove me bonkers was the 2nd to the last chapter where the killers name is Sheila and it was pronounced as She-Lee-A. I cringed every time I heard She-Lee-A. Good book for any true crime buffs or anyone that wants to dip their toes into the true crime genre but gory information is way too much to deal with.
This was absolutely awesome, I listened to this one and I rarely listen to audio books but I love true crime and was given a free audio copy so listened to a short chapter every day when I walked upto my sister. The diverse crimes were fascinating and really went in depth to the cases and even gave a round up of if they were caught, their sentences etc. Sorry this came to an end. Definitely want to read or hear more of the series.
If you like Law & Order, NYPD Blue, etc., you will enjoy this book. You can pick up and put down easily between chapters. A percentage of the proceeds from the book go towards victims families. Very interesting.
Another rare dnf for me. Not bad but also didn’t keep my glued to the pages reading either. I skimmed through a lot of details that I thought made the book too long. Some of it was interesting. I just think it was too drawn out.
This was a quick (although disturbing) read of 20 different cases. It included the facts and what happened and if there was a resolution. It included old and new cases.
Jamie Melton does a wonderful job in the research of each case. She tells the story with so much respect for every victim and their families. 5/5 Definitely recommend.
Listened to the audiobook. Love all these true crime accounts. I’m definitely a true crime buff and these were interesting stories even though a few I was familiar with. In to Volume 2!
This collection of true crime stories has made them short and to the point with some feel good thoughts from friends and family members about the victims.
I am a huge lover of true crime so was very excited about this book. This book contains 18 cases that I have not come across before (2 I had) and I enjoyed the detail the author has put into, especially as she doesn't hold back from the gory details, which admittedly is something I enjoy in these books. I look forward to reading more from this author.
