Oversummoned, Overpowered, and Over It! #1

Oversummoned, Overpowered, and Over It! Volume 1

Rate this book
Name’s Inori Takafuji. I’m not really much of a “go-getter,” if you catch my drift—sleep’s more my style—but getting summoned to another world kinda messed things up. Bit hard to chill when you’ve got a king in your face telling you there’s a bad guy you’ve gotta go slay or whatever, you know? Plot twist, though—it’s actually not so bad. Getting the hero treatment sounds pretty nice, right?

But then it happens again! Some other clown summons me, I get my obligatory superpower, and off I go. And sure, that’s fine. It happens, sometimes you get isekai’d to the wrong place. But then it happens AGAIN! Someone ELSE summons me, I get ANOTHER superpower, and then I’m somewhere totally new. Repeat ad nauseam.

All right, goddess, where to next? And lemme just say this—the next time I get summoned better be my last, because I am so over this!

Not very good, might try the 2nd book, in case it gets better, since I subscribe to j-novel anyways.

Really love the idea of this one, but the first book at least has rather lackluster execution. The revelation while hinted at throughout the book still doesn't land very well, and I'm not sure I identify with the protagonist enough to be interested in reading further books in the series.

Disappointing

Really enjoyed the story until the end when the main character seemed to randomly become a psychotic homicidal maniac, majority of the story he seemed like a rational individual who is slightly recluse who was neutral but leaned more towards the hero side of things and then it was just, boom I'm gonna slaughter everyone And have no remorse for anyone. I think the author was attempting a twist but it was a twist that made no sense and I did not like it.

But you know this is my personal opinion.

The fantasy-isekai (oversummoned many many times to other worlds) has no main theme, no real plot and lacks common sense, rationality and basic logic. So, main character gets summoned and summoned because of a "flaw/bug" in the system, but they do not choose a "heroic"/"good" main character, with each additional summoning, the main character becomes a dark, darker, darkest character. But again, what is the point?? To be able to use incredible super powers to see the color of underwear of women?? To charm and control women without their consent??
There is little to no character development, so much so, the main character is a total question mark at the beginning of the story and much more so, as the story moves on...
Why is he training?, why did he stop going to other worlds?, why does this story go on and on if it doesn't have a point??? With each additional summoning, main character would get an additional "cheat power", but main character was a total nobody at the beginning of the story, so, why him?? Why have a perv-dark-soul-lackluster- main character??
Nothing makes sense in this story, main character has vamperism and author writes that main character "doesn't sleep because of vamperism skill" then why do vampires traditionally sleep during the days in coffins??? The other powers, to be able to lock down and remember the summoning circles??? If the main character has no knowledge or understanding of magic??? Much less of the "super-powers" that each world gifted him?? The main character lacks intelligence, has no martial arts training, no real abilities before the summonings happened so, WHAT IS THE POINT TO A STORY THAT IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE???

Maybe...

Its not badly written so I can't help but read it but I'm not sure how the MC will be able to grow emotionally from here. It feels like he's going to get stronger ability wise but remain emotionally stunted. The plot is ok if a bit over done. The other characters are basically filler, actually a lot of it was filler. I'm not sure if I'll read the second one or not. I'm curious to see if the MC develops but I'm sad I spent money on this book so I'm not sure I'll by the second one.

It's a horror novel, not a light one

The guy is not just a sociopath, he's a psychopath. Seriously. His idea of fun is playing God, playing with life and death, taking someone or something's will and twisting it for his own ends. Idk if he was like that to begin with or if a couple of certain summons warped his character further. But he is quite literally evil incarnate. And you have to respect something that sort of scars you for life. I still enjoyed reading his story for that reason, that is to say I've read worse. Anyway, you've been warned.

why are most protagonists complete garbage of human beings.

I don't understand why there only seams to be two ends of the spectrum anymore with MCs they either want to protect and save everyone, or kill everything. They also all appear to be mentally incompetent. When you can read the characteristics of an individual and they list the strengths and weaknesses then why are you still surprised by there strengths and weaknesses later. Also if you are fighting an Ostrich like creature then a sword to the 3 foot neck would be much easier then throwing daggers at its head.

Protagonist is a bi-polar sadist who tries to write on the knight captain's face one day after she did the same thing to him while he was sleeping. The next day, he feeds one of her trusted female knights to the undead out of curiosity. An experiment.

This character is not a hero. If you are okay with that, you might enjoy the story, I did not. If you are interested in a protagonist summoned to multiple worlds, I would suggest looking into Restart Again on Kindle Unlimited.

I am not really sure why you’d write a book like this. Perhaps they lost a bet. Anyway, having the protagonist turn out to be real evil is so twenty years ago. (As most of the book consists of him pointlessly killing people I don’t consider this a spoiler.) But if a bunch of tedious gore is your jam, chow down.

Main character is just a supervillian

I feel the title often this book is misleading.
The main character is a sociopath, and a Gary Stu, with no redeeming characteristics. The title says he's overpowered, so I guess I can forgive him being a gary stu, but the rest is just terrible.
This isn't a light hearted book.
I will not be looking into any sequels.

The story was better in the manga has we get more fluid flow if dialog and battle scenes the light novel was overly compressed that was annoying selecting dialog from the descriptive of what’s happening then the few pieces of artwork in book was low quality that some made the chacthers eyes look overly big with long arms making it take a notch off the books like ability.

Just wish the book was longer. Read through it in 4 hours. The story is really fun. Main overpowered but only under the correct conditions which makes it interesting

This isn't your average Isekaid storyline

Lively characters, a good story, an interesting take on the Isekaid genre, well written, though definitely short I enjoyed the story.
