Mail Order Melody

Adam Talbot has his life planned out, and that plan does not include a wife. So why does one woman occupy his mind night and day? He is being trusted to deliver a group of mail-order brides from Massachusetts all the way to the Washington Territory. Karen is one of them. She's beautiful, smart and has two young children that should scare Adam off faster than an angry rattlesnake. He was burned at the alter, left standing with his heart broken and the whole world laughing when his fiancee eloped with his best friend. A woman is more trouble than he needs. But he's the moth and she's the flame. He knows he's going to get burned. But allowing her to marry another is out of the question. And when a deranged woman from Karen's past threatens the soft-hearted woman he can't help but fall in love with--and her two precious little ones--Adam discovers that walking through fire doesn't burn anymore, not if it gets him what he really needs...his own family.

Cynthia Woolf is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of eighty-nine works of romance fiction. Comprising sixty-seven historical western romances, sixteen contemporary romances, and six sci-fi space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books, she has also published twelve boxed sets of her books and two short stories.

Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia's father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede, that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband, Jim, and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

I enjoyed this story and how life is always changing. It may not be what you planned for but moving forward can bring happiness.
Adam Talbot is never going to take a wife, not after he was left at the altar. He now has trust issues with women as his ex-fiancée eloped with his (ex) best friend. Now a few years after all that Karen one of the mail order brides brought to Seattle keeps coming to his mind. He thinks Karen is beautiful and smart and he can’t decide if he wants her or not.
Karen is a strong woman with two children from a marriage that ended with her husband’s death in the war. Now she is determined to provide for them and has moved them to Seattle for a new start.
As they come to terms over their infatuation with each other trouble comes calling from Karen’s past. The trouble is something she never thought about needing to watch for. Now with Karen and the kids in danger Adam steps up to keep them safe. But will they still be together after everything that comes at them or will it tear them apart?

“Mail Order Melody” is book five in Cynthia’s Seattle Brides series. Karen Martell is a widow with two small children who loved her husband and she is starting over in Seattle. Adam Talbot was burned by love when his fiancé eloped with his best man and no longer believes in love. Both these people are attracted to each other from the beginning but neither is ready for marriage. They decide to get to know each other and to take their budding relationship slow until Adam’s jealous actions forces them to marry. Things get real interesting when someone from Karen’s past surfaces to cause trouble. The plot is well written, the characters well developed and Larry and Patty are adorable secondary characters. The story has drama, romance and of course a villain. There are a number of issues Adam needs to work on and the threat to Karen and her children adds drama to the storyline. It is the kind of story you can’t put down until the last line because you are hoping there is a HEA. I don’t like to give detail spoilers but I will say the epilogue was a nice surprise. The novel is an enjoyable read that I highly recommend. I really enjoyed this series and am sorry to see it end.
I received the book in exchange for an honest review and all opinions are your own.

In the fifth book of the Brides of Seattle Series, Adam Talbot has his life all figured out. He knows what he wants, and it does not include a bride; even if it is the beautiful town doctor Karen. Sometimes life does not always go as expected and you end up with a wonderful happy ever after you did not know you needed. Karen and Adam have their struggles and differences, but will they be able to overcome them to make a lasting relationship?

Adam is a man to admire. He is hard working and dedicated to his family and his life. He is a man who will protect the people he cares about the most. Karen is dedicated to her children. She is a wonderful mother and a huge asset to her new community. She is very loyal and loving. I love she will not let anyone get in the way of her happiness.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series! I have laughed and cried along with all the Talbot family. I am very sad to see it over but cannot wait for what the author has next. Mail Order Brides are among my favorite stories to read and this one was no different. I highly recommend this book, along with all the other books, in this series.

*Please note I received a commentary copy of this book. I was under no obligation to review it and all opinions expressed are my own.

From the very first book in the Brides of Seattle series, we have read about Karen Martell and the integral part she has played in the lives of the brides and their new husbands. Having studied at medical school, Karen had to abandon her studies when she married her late husband, but that does not stop her from treating patients and in particular carrying out her duties as a midwife. From their initial meeting, Adam Talbot and Karen were attracted to one another, but Adam carries a load of baggage with him from a previous betrayal. Observing his brothers finding happiness, Adam eventually succumbs to Karen's beautiful spirit and decides to pursue her. However, an old patient finds her way to Karen's door bent on revenge for a perceived loss, and Adam has his hands full trying to protect Karen and her children. The story is well written with some suspense. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a happy, although somewhat disruptive ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Karen is the midwife in Seattle and one of the brides the Talbot’s brought to Seattle. I admired Karen for her strength in bringing up her two children after losing her husband, working as a midwife, and sailing to Seattle with her two children. It was ironic that Adam and Karen had their eyes on each other since they met back east, but Adam never made a move to court her until over a year later. I felt bad that his past colored his present and got him in deep trouble with Karen a few times. It was suspenseful when a deranged woman came to Seattle to find Karen and cause her harm. Adam was such a good provider and kept the family feeling safe. I love these westerns and this was great. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

Another delightful addition to Brides of Seattle collection.

This was a very entertaining and satisfying new book about the mail order brides from New Haven that have travelled to Seattle to become wives. This story was about Adam, the lone & last Talbot brother to be married. He is courting Karen, who is the mid-wife and "doc" in Seattle. A very well developed story with lots of interesting characters that keep the book flowing from the first page to the last. I received an ARC copy of this book. However, this is my personal and honest review which I have given voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own and personal.

Excellent

I like how she says no more, but travels by mail order bride with two kids. She is the midwife for any and all, so even with her being there doing this she meets up with the Talbots, a family of guys and one girl. Well her and the girl become friends while the rest of the brides marry the lumberjacks and anyone else who is looking. The midwife is staying busy and after several meetings with Adam Talbot, they become married. So Adam and the lumber and the midwife staying busy. They both have their hands full. Read more about what happens to them and all the other brides.

I eagerly awaited this book. Adam, sexy brother number 5 has always been the shy and quiet one and Karen has been the rock that most of the town has depended on throughout the first 4 books. I was hoping they would end up together. Of course the way to happiness is not smooth, tragedy, terror and overcoming betrayal must be dealt with before the path will become clear. An enjoyable read and a fitting story for for the fifth of the 5 Talbot brothers. I received this book in exchange for and honest review and all opinions are my own.

I have really enjoyed this series and will be sorry to see it end. Adam and Karen would be really good together if Adam would just show some interest. Adam is so good with kids and Karen isn't sure if he just doesn't want a ready made family or if he just isn't interested. Adam was jilted and hasn't trusted women since. Just when Karen thinks they are moving forward, Adam does something that sets their relationship back. When danger comes to her door, Adam is there and ready to protect his new family at all costs.

Mail Order Melody by Cynthia Woolf is book 5 of the Brides of Seattle series. This is the story of Adam the fifth Talbot brother and Karen Martell who is the mid-wife and one of the mail-order brides. Karen Martell has played an important part thru out the series as well as her children. It is fitting that Adam and Karen finally get there story as Adam and her have had eyes on earth other since the beginning. As is usual for Cynthia Woolf's story, the way to a happy ending is never easy or smooth. This story keeps your interest and keeps you rooting for the happy outcome. It is well written. A great way to end the series.I look forward to the next story that Cynthia Woolf writes. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Adam doesn’t want to love any more, it hurts too much but he wants to marry Karen. Karen, a midwife and doctor just wants the best for her children. When they are courting something happen and they need to marry to protect her reputation. Can they make their marriage work? And when danger of her past shows up can he protect her and her children?
This was an entertaining story about love and trust, both necessary for a for filling relationship. This was my first book in this series and I’m looking forward to read the previous books in this series.

This is a fairly well written story about a doctor with 2 children accompanying a group of mail order brides to Washington territory. Adam Talbot while helping deliver the ladies is drawn to the doctor(Karen) despite the fact that he has sworn off women. Burned at the alter years ago, he quickly renounces his oath and begins to court Karen. They soon marry but his jealousy soon causes problems with his bride but things work out and a feel good ending concludes the story.

I just loved reading all about the Talbot men, each and everyone had a life story with a life altering moment in their lives. A shattered heart which had them not believing they could love again.
Each and everyone has gotten their soulmate with some challenges they got their much deserved happily ever after.

This was once again a fantastic read with plenty of twists and turns, emotional and intriguing the perfect end to an amazing series.
Can’t wait to read what new adventure Cynthia Woolf has in store for us.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
This 5th book in the series did not disappoint. Adam and Karen have a lot of things to work through, including a woman looking to hurt Karen. Adam's past experience with love makes him very leery of trusting and loving Karen. I recommend this book.

Mail Order Brides

Another really good book. A good story line with interesting characters that have trouble getting over their past heartbreaks. A country doctor with kids and a lumberjack that can cook that have hang ups getting over past romances. When is book 6 coming out I’m ready for it! Jo

Talbot Brothers Series

I really enjoyed the series. Good story but found it a little tiresome that all five brothers married quickly and then for mostly the same reason couldn't admit they loved their brides. And then the brides made them wait to consummate their marriage.

Could have been better

I found myself irritated with the hero and his inability to let go of a past experience. Otherwise the story had potential.
