I’ve got too many dreams to settle down. Especially as a pro-hockey free agent.
The world is mine, and with it comes loads of money, women, and fast cars.
Until I sign my best friend’s little sister as my new agent.
She’s not a little girl anymore, and dang… I’m in trouble.
The one thing she’s not putting up with is me. Something about my rough disposition puts her off. Grumpy is the word she would use.
Whatever. It’s all part of the style that’s going to win her over for good.
Unfortunately, a misunderstanding threatens to tear down everything I’m working toward with her. Maybe my reputation preceding me isn’t a good thing anymore.
Either way, I thought I wanted to ride solo, but nah. Puck the Bachelor Life.
Quick enjoyable hockey read. I liked the back story I liked the connection but..... communication trope surrounding cheating? With no other proof or prior behavior will always drop a book a star down for me. Yes he's an athlete who has had past partners, you are not perfect and virginal so why not just get to the bottom of the confusion. A strong willed woman falling to pieces of a photo of a coffee date? No thanks.

Okay, well I am at 43% and I have to say, Chase, Erika’s brother is a much bigger manwhore, and the tool then, Wayne is. Especially, after questioning and laying down the law to both Erika and Wayne about hooking up. If anyone has a reputation to clean up off the ice it's, Chase. Wayne may have been a fighter on the ice but I‘m sure his last agent encouraged it. Where Erika has had a calming effect on him.
Now, for the story as a whole. Erika has just returned from, NY where she worked for a major sports agency. It wasn’t the right fit for her. She didn't jive ethically with how she wanted to do business. So, Erika's come home and opened her own business. Dragging, Carly her best friend with her, although both girls were from, Canada. Despite that, Erika grew up around, at least half of the team, at any given time, during her brother’s, hockey career. With that said, she did not look, as she does now. Professional, powerful, and sexy. No, she looked so, young and dorky.
Wayne and Erika have instant chemistry. This is the time Connor offers her up as an agent. Now that he is, however, he is being petty about them putting their heads together. When, in fact, he is pushing them together. They start pairing up at uncomfortable social gatherings and having fun together when her brother ditches her. Until one thing leads to another. But, then she weirds out. Going back to the mission of getting him to Salt Lake to play hockey.
There are times of insecurity, for the two of them. One of the main concerns, if they are, to explore any feelings they may have toward each other is Connor and his hostel reaction. Both mothers, who had caught on to the strong chemistry between them, left over from years ago. But, also from interviews, encourage saying to go for it. Also, to let, Connor deal with his own feelings. I can't say my opinion about Connor’s manwhoring ways improved, however, my opinion of him, as a brother did considerably.
I enjoyed this author, I won’t say, there weren’t times that held my total interest, because there were but only at the beginning, and only for a very short while. The characters are funny, irritating, and so personable. This is my first time, with this author, and this hockey theme it did, hook me.
This is the story of Wayne & Erika. It's the hockey version of older brother's best friend and his younger sister. Wayne is a star hockey player with a bad reputation who is hoping to play for his "dream" team after the current season. Erika is an up-and-coming sports agent who agrees to take him on as a client and help turn around his image. Erika's brother Chase is Wayne's BFF, his teammate and also her client... He's also forbid any of his friends/teammates on trying to date his sister. As E & W spend more time together, working on his image, its clear they have great chemistry and are both attracted to each other. They fight it for a little bit but eventually come together and decide to keep their new relationship a secret from everyone. Wayne is very private and doesn't like sharing information about himself and his life with anyone and that eventually blows up in his face. Bad media information leads to their secret being exposed, both of them being hurt and calling it quits on their just-started relationship. Wayne realizes he needs to come clean to Erika about his life, this misunderstanding and let his guard completely down if he's going to win back the woman he's fallen in love with. A fun romance with a little hockey and a little drama thrown in for added interest. I enjoyed this book.
Oh my gosh! I absolutely loved everything about Wayne and Erika!!! I’m glad that Wayne had Erika by his side! They had such a great connection! The ending was perfect! So happy they got what they both deserved! 🩵
Oh my...A great kick start to what I'm hoping to be a series!!! Wayne and Chase have been best friends for years and are hockey teammates. Though they are best friends Wayne leads a private life and keeps his personal life in the shadows. As a free agent working towards his dream of joining the Salt Lake team, Wayne needs his rough reputation polished up. Enter Chase's sister and agent Erika doubtful of adding Wayne to her successful growing rooster. Fighting the attraction is unsuccessful and the warnings from Chase to stay away from his sister down the drain, Wayne and Erica slide down the slippery slope of the unknown. The change in Wayne's attitude and lack of fights on the ice doesn't go unnoticed which makes people curious, even the paparazzi. Trying to take care of his mother after her accident is also kept a secret until an unfortunate picture hits the press and cripples his relationship with Erika. What happens when Chase learns about Wayne and Erika's secret relationship?? Will Erika hear Wayne out and give him another chance when he bears his heart and secrets?? Loving a Puck Life and it's characters with their his/her POV, no cheating, no cliffhanger, page turning romance and dream coming true HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Looking forward to the next Jacob Parker story!!!
This book gives the best friend’s sibling/sibling’s best friend theme a hockey spin. Wayne is an intensely private man who plays hard but works even harder. Because of that extreme privacy, he's got a bit of a media image problem. Enter his buddy Chase’s little sister, Erika, who is about to become his brand-new sports agent. she has a plan to clean up his image, and it starts with him not being a grumpy standoffish jerk. I thought it was a lot of fun to witness as Erica corralled Wayne and chase into some of their best behavior. I really enjoyed watching these to get to know one another again. The secret keeping and slightly taboo nature of their relationship made it very exciting to read. But I loved it best when they were able to bring everything out into the open, because then Wayne showed off his sweet romantic side. I had so much fun with these characters and I've kind of started to fall for the rest of Wayne's teammates. My fingers are crossed in the hopes that we'll get to see books about them in the future. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

Puck the Bachelor Life, book one in the Puck Life Series follows hockey player Wayne Hudsom, and sports agent Erika Lane, his best friend and teammate Chase's little sister. Wayne is an intensely private man, and because of that extreme privacy, he's got a bit of a media image problem. Erika, his brand-new sports agent, has a plan to clean up his image, and it starts with him not being a grumpy jerk. As they spend more time together, working on his image, they begin to realize that they are both attracted to each other. This was a great story. It had characters you rooted for to get out of their way and be together. It was well written. It has steam and sweetness…and a little bit of hockey. To be honest, I wish it had more. This felt like a story where the fact that Wayne played hockey was a minor detail, not something central to the story or who he was. But hockey players LOVE being hockey players. I craved descriptions of his blades cutting through the ice as Wayne deked defenders and scored game winning goals. I wanted to feel the excitement coming off the pages as I watched the games along with Ericka, hear the crowds roar, smell the beer and popcorn. I wanted those details as much as I wanted to read the blooming romance between the two main characters. Don’t get me wrong - this was still a solid, enjoyable romance story and I can’t wait to read the next book from this author. I just hope there’s more hockey in the next one…

5 stars I received a free copy of the steamy novel Puck the Bachelor Life: A Puck Love Novel book 1: Wayne and Erika by Jacob Parker and this review was given freely. A steamy instant attraction/crush realized romance with realistic characters and a heartwarming ending. Jacob Parker creates the feeling that you are there as he takes you through Canada Wilders’ “The Grumpy Bad Boy of Hockey”, Wayne Hudson’s final year on the team as he dreams of being drafted by Salt Lake, Utah’s hockey team, takes care of his convalescing mother, and grows closer to his best friend/teammate Chase Lane’s your sister and his new sports agent, Erika Lane who is determined to rehab Wayne’s image by revealing his softer/private side through social media.
How long can Wayne and Ericka keep their relationship a secret? Wayne and Ericka have known each other for years, through her brother, Wayne’s best friend. Ericka, a sports agent, agrees to take Wayne on as a client. Wayne realizes that the little sister that used to hang around them when they were younger has grown into a beautiful, caring, sincere, loving person. He is drawn to her like a fly to fly paper. It’s not just sex for them. They crave time with each other to do things, talk, watch movies, you know, all the things that couples do. That’s what makes this story so good. I loved it. You can just feel the glue pulling them together more and more.
Wayne is a bad boy hockey player with a reputation of getting into fights on the ice. Now he is looking to improve his attitude/image because he is wanting to play for Salt Lake next season. This is where Erika comes into the picture. She will be working closely Wayne and soon feelings develop. How will her brother react when he told his teammates that she is off limits? Will they be able to fight through what comes their way? Another great story by Jacob and one worth reading. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series holds. I received an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving my honest review.
Wayne, a professional hockey player, needs a new agent and asks Ericka, his best friend and teammate’s little sister, to represent him in all his bad boy glory. As the story progresses an mage and playing make over is decided, his feelings become divided, and winning back the girl will not go as smoothly as the ice where he glided. Jacob Parker’s newest sports romance pulled a hat trick on my heart, with family, romance, and steam.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Jacob Parker has done it again with another page turner!! The characters are engaging and well thought out, the story pulls you in from the beginning. Wayne is a very private man, he loves the bachelor life, but needs a better image, which is where Erica comes in. His best friends little sister, but she is not what he expects. Instant attraction between the both of them, some misunderstandings, secret love, what can go wrong?? I hope to get more from this author about the rest or at least some of the team.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and freely give my review.
This is a brilliant read from Jacob Parker. Wayne is in need of a new agent to help get the career move that he wants in th NHL so when his best friends sister Ericka comes back home he knows that she is just what he needs. Ericka isn't sure she should have taken on Wayne as a client especially when the chemistry between them is electric but as they get closer she falls for him even more but what will her big brother say. So much drama and plenty of emotion but can they get their HEA. Absolutely loved the ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Wayne is a hockey player. Erika is his agent. The problem is that they are attracted to each other, and Wayne is her brother’s best friend. They try to keep it professional, but it doesn’t work. During their secretive time together, assumptions are made without giving the other a chance to explain and make it right. That’s never good. Honesty is the best policy on both sides, always. It’s a slow burn, but steamy at the same time. It’s a very enjoyable book to read.
Another entertaining read that keeps you turning pages. This story isn’t my usual troupe, but I quite enjoyed it. This story revolves around Wayne and Erika. He’s a professional hockey player. She is his teammate and BFF’s little sister. She’s also an agent and he needs a new one. He’s a playboy, bad boy nightmare. She’s got her work cut out for her. Some unexpected things pop up and it takes Wayne some time to realize he doesn’t want to be that ‘guy’ any more. Now that he’s lost her< he needs to find a way to get her back.
This story is about Wayne and Erika. Wayne is in the NHL and has a bad reputation. He doesn’t sell himself to his fans because he is a bit on the quite side but people take him as being an Ahole. Erika is an agent and just happens to represent her brother Chase who is not only teammates with Wayne but they have been best friends for over 20 years. When she agrees to represent Wayne as well, will it be easy for them to keep thing professional? The chemistry between these two is hot… you’l have to read the book to find out what happens next.
He lives bein solo as he can do what he wants when he wants, no girlfriend demanding more time or for him to be faithful. He is a hockey player and now he has gain his best friend little sister to help him to find the right direction. He was not worried at first but then he saw her again. He knows he is now in trouble and going solo is not going to do. See if he can make a go at being a proper boyfriend
I really enjoyed this book; mister Jacob, the style (sport romance) suits you !!
This book is authentic, romantic, gripping and steamy, with a touch of drama; it's a great mix of emotions, wonderful writing, sizzling chemistry , very nice conversations and close friendships. Can't wait to read the next installment ( if there's one lolll)
Highly recommended read; will read it again for sure !
I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
Giving this story a four star review only because when I finally got to the climax of the story I was disappointed in Ericka. Considering her line of work the story didn’t seem as believable s as it could have.
I loved the vulnerable side of Wayne and getting to see him let his guard down. The same goes for the bond between his teammate and best friend.
Overall loved the story and felt like I was right there witnessing the game in the stands.
Wayne is a super private hockey player with a bad reputation that needs fixing. Erika is the little sister of Wayne’s teammate and best friend Chase. When Erika becomes Wayne’s agent and corralled him and Chase to be on their best behavior it backfired. Secret visits turned instant hot and super flirty. Being in love with your best friends little sister doesn’t always work out in the way they hope but Wayne was able to keep his best friend and build a connection with the girl he’s interested in. This book was phenomenal and I can’t wait for the next book.
Be sure and set your Kindle on ice or it might catch fire with this steamy novel! I happen to love hockey and fell in love with this novel. Wayne needs Erica’s help, their chemistry is immediate, but she doesn’t date clients and he has the problem of her being his best friends little sister! See the problem here? This is a not-to-be-missed book! Guarantee you’ll not be able to put it down. Great book Jacob! I received this as an ARC and am willingly leaving this 5star review!!!
This is the first book in the Puck Life series, a Sports Romance. Wayne and Erika's story is sweet, sexy, and heartwarming. Erika, a new sports agent, is smart and capable. Wayne, a hockey player, is enigmatic, wild, bad boy, and very handsome. Their chemistry is sizzling. I loved to follow them in their forbidden journey to love. This is a great older brother's best friend. I liked Erika's brother Chase, and I would love to have his story. Looking forward for more in the series.
Erika and Wayne's story is light, funny and so entertaining. Wayne is a top notch hockey player who needs an agent to represent him. Erika is his best friend's Chase little sister and she can help with his image issues. What started out as flirty, this instant attraction will consume them and Chase's ire. Great story and characters that will bring you many hours of entertainment.
This is a well written and well-planned story that flows effortlessly. Wayne is a great hockey player with public image problem. His friend's sister, Erika is his new sports agent. She needs to get to know him even if he keeps to himself. The instant chemistry is hard to deny but it makes it spicy keeping it to themselves behind closed doors.
Another entertaining story by Jacob Parker. He once again brings strong characters and weaves a great best friends little sister romance filled with tons of drama. It's well written with descriptive scenes, moves fluidly and is a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
DNF - tense is off and there is little back story provided up front
This book isn’t well developed in the begging - there is no “hook” that caught my interest. Past tense books drive me crazy. Do say “I had went”. Just say “ I went”. This book needs a thorough edit to make it active voice. Maybe then I can read it.
Wayne and Erica’s story is a steamy bro best friend/best friend sister romance that has some interesting with her being his sport agent and him being a little private but when these two get together and try keeping it private things really heat up I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion
