Royal Dragons of Alaska #3

The Dragon Prince's Bride

Rate this book
A dragon’s duty

As the oldest daughter of the royal Mo’orea dragon line, Leinani knows her duty, and has made peace with leaving her beloved tropical island behind to become queen of the cold and inhospitable kingdom of Alaska. But fate has considerably different plans...

Prince Tray wants nothing to do with responsibility, and he’s just as happy that the Compact, a magical contract that binds the Small Kingdoms Alliance, has tapped someone else to rule; he’s perfectly content being the family prankster, playing hockey in the backyard, and raising dogs. But his easy life is turned upside down when Princess Leinani shows up to marry his oldest brother and Tray’s dragon recognizes the bride-to-be as his own mate instead.

Denying destiny

Kingdom and family come first; the two nobly agree to stay apart and wait out the temporary mate spell, however long it takes. But a relentless enemy has other plans; captured and unable to shift, Tray and Leinani are forced to work together to try to escape, unravel a mystery, thwart a plot to overthrow Alaska...and somehow resist each other.

Set in an alternate world Alaska, where being a prince is more about dogs and dodging chores than it is about crowns and courtesy, THE DRAGON PRINCE’S BRIDE is a steamy, standalone, fast-paced paranormal romance adventure.

2023 bk 117. An arranged marriage seems in the works - but when a different prince's dragon calls out to Leilani, well things happen. While on a flight to get away from the tensions of the palace, the pair are captured by the mysterious woman and their cult. Held in a desolate hotel room, the pair can only strengthen their knowledge of their love for each other. Lots of suspension of belief, but still fun.

My favorite book in the series.

Tray and Leinani are the swooniest couple. They are couple goals - how to stay kind, loving and sane while kidnapped. Tray is a dragon shifter and one of the princes of Alaska. The ruling king has been asleep/in a coma for years and the Compact dictates that the next king will be the one who finds his mate. Leinani is a dragon shifter and a princess of Mo’Orea. Leinani comes to Alaska to be the mate of Fask, Tray’s older brother. The plan is to activate a mate bond by using a particular section of the Compact. Unfortunately, when she arrives, she feels a mate bond for Tray instead. They agree to let the mate compulsion dissipate by keeping their distance while Leinani still continues with the plan to get engaged to Fask. Fate and crazy cultists have other ideas though when they kidnap Tray and Leinani and keep them prisoner in a small hotel room for an extended period of time. On their way to their HEA, Tray and Leinini have to navigate their captivity, endure experiments and appease crazy cultists, all while trying to resist the mate bond and not fall in love. The book is fairly low angst and has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, a bit of steam, dangerous action, evil villains, henchmen, mystery, magic, paranormal creatures, strong families, political landmines, laughter, and strong characters. The book was well written and included three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging story line. While this is a standalone, there is an overarching plot that connects the books and is best enjoyed by reading the books in order. I will definitely keep reading the series.

Heat Factor: Not closed door, but not very intense or explicit

Character Chemistry: The way they go through their captivity together is just absolutely charming

Plot: You think it’s going to be an angsty, pining, stealing-the-fiancée kind of a thing, but then they get kidnapped and everything goes sideways

Overall: My favorite so far in this series. SO FUN.

Much harsher and more uncertain than the others in this series

I was caught up in the story, but it was so much harsher that I wasn't as happy while reading it. Lei is a dragon princess ready to meet her arranged husband-to-be. Instead she finds that his sports oriented brother Tray is her mate. However, she is willing to do her duty and wait for the mate spell to fade. Then they are both kidnapped and things really get crazy. This story was much more oppressive than the others. But you need it to move the overarching storyline along.

The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain with a character oriented storyline that has some action. The characters are well developed and not as simple as they first appeared. You really must read these books in order. Unfortunately, we have to wait until March of 2022 for the next book!

Oh wow

I am so happy for Tray and Leinani , unfortunate for his brother Fask but who can refuse what fate brings. I feel bad for Task, but his day will come. Tray and Leinani had been through a lot and they found an Allie in Mackenzie and oh so glad they took her with them although Tray would have left her to her fate...but Leinani has a heart of gold and sees the good in ppl. But here comes Kenth who has been estranged from his family stating his distress about his daughter that no one in the family knows he had wow..now this is going to be interesting..so looking forward to Kenth's story...big fan as always Winzie19🤗💞.

I cannot stop reading this series!

This is such a fantastically well written series!
The characters are all so very relatable.
The main storyline does not get lost in the side stories for each of the brothers and yet I find myself easily caught up in each one’s plight!
The Colourful descriptions of Alaska are really something! Elva makes you feel like a wide eyed visitor and somehow manages to make you feel right at home as well!
Lots of adventure and romance to be had, while not completely losing the actual story.
I cannot stop reading this series!
I picked up the first book in hopes of being transported to another world and was not disappointed!

Surprising, believable character and relationship development

The dragons' plan to "solve" everything is dramatically undone by the Contract, for reasons no one understands.
Leilani and Tray struggle to survive, to stay sane and hopeful, to help each other throughout a long period of restriction, and finally to escape their circumstances. This story has everything--strong, complex characters; a dangerous cult; family drama; plot twists, and a delightful romance. It also opens the door for the next mystery in the series and the next romance. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Amazing

This book was amazing. It completely drew me in. Not only could I not put it down but I had to force my self not to be impatient and peak at the end because I needed to know what was going to happen. I loved the chemistry between Leinani and Tray. Not wanting to be mates and also she is supposed to marry his brother they swear to stay apart. Then they are kidnapped and thrown together. Their struggles and need to escape bind them together and make a wonderful story.

WoW! Intense !

Wow, what an intensely emotional read. For most of the book it’s like the sword of Damocles is hanging over Tray and Leinani’s heads. The reader is never quite sure if Amara or one of her followers is going to snap and do them some harm. Then there is the question are they really foolish enough to give up true love for the sake of duty. It all makes for an intense and interesting read. Then the book ends on another nail biting mystery. I certainly hope book 4 is released early. I want to know what happens to Kenth and the mysterious MacKenzie.

It broke a part of my soul (at the beginning of the story) when Tray and Leinani agreed to ignore and avoid their attraction/bond and let it fade like a used up spell and marry Fask!!! Smh???? I was shattered to think they'd give up on love for duty!!! I enjoyed the games and comraderie the two found in captivity, because it increased their natural bond wuth each other. What a bombshell at the end of this. I need the next book now!!!

Buckle up buttercup

This book was a thrill ride of the best kind. Heart wrenching, page turning tumble of an adventure.

I cannot write anything else without it being a spoiler. So much to say and yet... spoilers!
Do yourself a favor and read the book.

(I did receive an ARC in exchange for a review. I had also already preordered the book... so I just got to read it early and it is worth more than what I paid.)

A different type of love story

I really enjoyed Tray and Leinani’s story. Spoilers ahead
******

It was a very different type of story reading about how their love developed while they were held captive and tortured. Somehow I didn’t get bored reading about the slow passage of their days. I only thought that this section went on a bit too long. But for the most part it was extremely well done.

Different

Odd that nearly the whole book deals with Leinani and Trey's kidnapping. Nothing is going right for the oldest prince. 2 younger brothers mated before him putting his inheriting the throne in peril. Now the youngest is the mate to the princess who was to have saved his right to the throne.

The series that can’t be written fast enough

I like these dragons. They are just the right mix of regal and real people. This book the most recent in the series combines kidnapping and cults to disrupt the neat order that the royalty of Small Kingdoms has lived with for centuries. In a different dimension of Alaska, these Dragon princes are pretty alright..

The Dragon Prince's Bride

Leinani, crown princess of Mo'oera, agreed to a marriage of convenience with Fask. After the announcement of their engagement, she and Tray were captured by Amara, leader of the Cause, and taken to an island off Crete. The story continues to escalate and ends with a grand bang, and a new adventure starting.

Another cute instalment in the Dragon Princes of Alaska series. Initially, it felt like it was just repeating Breck and Darla's story from the Shifting Sands series (which Ms Birch writes as Zoe Chant), but it goes off in its own direction and becomes its own story fairly quickly.

It's not my favourite of the three books I've read in this series so far, but it was a reasonable story, and I'm looking forward to getting on with the next one.

A great book. This is book 3 in the series. I encourage you to read the others before this one as you will get more from this book if you do so. Y ou won't be disappointed. This book kept my attention and gives you an emotional rollercoaster. This series has more to give and this book gives you a glimpse of what is to come. Cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC for an honest review.

The author set quite the challenge by placing most of the book in a hotel room; it could easily have gotten boring, but the pacing was absolutely perfect. The growth of the relationship is realistic and touching. I honestly have nothing critical to say!

Falls a little short of satisfying

I love shifter romances but feel that this one fell short of my hopes. Too long was spent on a section of the story that felt depressing and hopeless. Have enjoyed the other books in this series though, and will read the rest.

The plot thickens. Tray and Leinnes kidnapping was brilliant. Who is this Amara? Appears evil and power hungry and conniving, and in some cases underestimates her supposed prey. Now what is she up to and who is her benefactor of royal heritage?

quite intense

I thought I knew what to expect with this story, but I was way off.
I really wasn’t quite sure how they would get out of the mess they were in.
Their love is really strong now. And they gave great benchmarks for the future.
