I received these books from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review~

I really enjoyed Animal ABC, Animal 123, and Animal Colors, so of course when I saw these cute books I had to press that read now button. I had to read them! And right after requesting them I went to read them. I just couldn’t wait any longer. I was at first worried as the Opposites one wasn’t working on my PC (the pictures were just the shadows of the animals) but it did work through the Netgalley app on my phone.

I thought it would be the most fun to write a review for both books! So here we go~ In these two books we get to see Animal Shapes and Animal Opposites. From small crocodiles and big crocdiles to a square aquarium for two very fat goldfish. I had so much fun flipping, well OK, swiping through the pages and get to see what was next. I have to say that it worked perfectly on my phone as the surprise was even bigger. With a physical copy you get to see the two pages immediately and with the phone you just see one part and then the next. With some of the opposites of course you could easily guess what was next, at least if you know your opposites. XD But with the shapes? That one held a fun surprise each time. What animals and what about the shape. Like the heart, I hadn’t expected that as the next one. So I was definitely happy. For once I didn’t mind reading these books online. And I loved the various opposites, some made me laugh like the shark who went fast. Or the oval, good luck with that one!

I really love the illustration style. Nikolas Ilic just has a wonderful and zany style that makes you giggle. The eyes especially at times. XD

All in all, I think these two books are a wonderful addition to the rest of the series and I think kids will absolutely love it. The opposites and the shapes are well done + the colours are popping + the illustrations are fun. Learning your shapes and opposites is fun!

Very friendly introduction to shapes, and for once a lot more than the typical three or four we normally tend to get. They're shown and named, in bright colourful fashion, and then appear in context alongside some brazenly cartoonish animals, so the hexagon is a bird's nest-box, the semicircle is a chunk of watermelon seconds before it gets devoured, and so on. So, so colourful, and seriously useful – there's nothing to fault.

This colorful title teaches shapes to the littlest children. First a shape is shown followed by some cartoonish critters enjoying something made in that shape. My personal favorite is the two hippos who are about to enjoy a semicircle of watermelon.

There are many shape books on the market. Even so, this one is worth a look.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley for an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute, simple book talking about different shapes. The shapes were clearly defined and the pictures were funny and bright. The book covered the main shapes you think of along with a few that you don't always find in books (semi-circle, arrow, crescent, ect.)

I would put this in my toddler classroom and my three year old enjoyed reading it with me.

Thank you to the author, Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The author does it again with this wonderfully vibrant and fun book for young readers, looking at shapes. Although some of the shapes are a bit of a reach, it's a great springboard to read with young children and introduce the concepts. Highly recommend!

My kid read this on her own. It is a cute book with lovely illustrations that introduce first shape and then animals playing the objects with similar shape. Illustrations are bright and colorful and even ebook looked beautiful so I’m sure physical book might be even more beautiful that kids would love to read and flip through again and again.

The book represents a fun experience for children to learn shapes and animals who have the same shape as the one they try to teach to the young minds.
The drawing, colours and the entire book will be for sure useful not only to be used at home but as well as in kindergarten. It was an enjoyable relaxation moment for me to read and see the images represented in the book. For sure I will use this with my little one in her experience of learning shapes.

A book about shapes and animals. A fun way to learn about different shapes, plus the added bonus of learning about animals. But the fun doesn’t stop there! You get to explore how shapes are found in the world around you, plus the pictures are colourful so you and your little one can also identify colours not only that but there is the possibility of working on numeracy by counting animals and objects. The pictures are fun and the book is joyful.

Kids can explore shapes in the book Animal Shapes by Nikolas Ilic. Shapes are named on each 2-page spread and silly animals provide examples of where to find these shapes in the world around us. This board book will encourage kids and caregivers to look for shapes as they go throughout their day together. For ages 2 – 5.

I loved the shapes, especially the more complex shapes, but the connection to the animals was a stretch and I didn’t love a few of them. I did think it was cute and I would’ve read and enjoyed it from the library, but I wouldn’t purchase it.

This book teaches common shapes using fun animal scenes. It’s something that small kids will adore. A few of the shapes seemed a little forced but that’s more something that adults would take note of and wouldn’t affect a child’s enjoyment of the images.

Encourage young readers to start looking for and recognizing shapes in their world with this book filled with colorful images that contextualize and entertain as well as features repeating letter combinations and K-1 level sight words. A great book for read-aloud or paired reading.
