Jill Haymaker brings you back to the picturesque Colorado mountain town of Peakview, Colorado in this story of opposites attract. Thirty-six year old horse trainer, Tex Ranger, prefers horses to humans. His new job at the isolated Walker Horse Ranch is exactly what he’s looking for—no females to create drama in his life. He’s had enough of that.
Twenty-four year old, Mary Meyers, lives to travel. When a rock climbing accident in Central America forces her home to her parents’ ranch to recuperate, she can’t wait to heal and get back on a plane to her next adventure.
The sparks that fly take them both by surprise. They have nothing in common except their fear that falling in love will destroy their dreams. But dreams change . . .
COME HOME TO PEAKVIEW, COLORADO WHERE EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE AT LOVE.
Jill Haymaker writes contemporary romances centered in her home state of Colorado. After growing up in Indiana and Ohio, she moved to Colorado and feel in love with the beautiful mountains. She writes about adventurous women and the rugged cowboys they fall in love with. She currently has published 25 novels in her three series that take place in Peakview County, Colorado: The Peakview Series, The Aspen Ridge Series, and The Peaktop Dude Ranch Series. She is currently working on her new Montana Pines Series.
This particular book in the series has multiple inconsistencies : Tex has chocolate eyes in the beginning and blue eyes later in the book. Mary’s dad left while she was in middle school at one point, then he left 2 days before junior prom. And, Tex was choosing a shirt to wear and decided to wear the flannel shirt his mother sent him even though his mother died while he was under age. I enjoy the story just tired of the inconsistencies and poor editing.
I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't a heavy in seduction and sex like a lot of books are now days. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good down and dirty read but this is a gentle love story that will work for so many, young and old. I felt so at home and comfortable in Peakview. It was small town USA and Jill Haymaker made you see, smell and feel it. It was a place I could see myself living in. I fell in love with all of the characters in this book. They seemed to come to life as you read about them. The age difference between the two main characters was worked in so well. Now days it really doesn't seem like any big deal and I was so glad it worked out for them. I won't say how Tex proposed to his love, but I found it utterly charming and was so happy for both of them in the end. It was a lovely way to end the book!
Another amazing book in the 'Peakview' Series. Tex "Timmy" Ranger looks good - more scrumptious than a platter of Colorado beef. He was perfect for Mary.
Mary sat down next to Tex, and they turned to watch the last rays of daylight slip behind the mountain. He'd come to Colorado to get away from Lauren, and he'd found the one woman he'd never leave. Funny how life was He hadn't really felt at home anywhere since he left Texas at eighteen. Almost twenty years later, he'd found home again in the Colorado Rockies. For the first time since his mother passed, he was totally happy. He knew his mother would approve of Mary. Tex had his whole lifetime to show his love for her. They were home.
You really have to check out Peakview Series (11 book series) Kindle Edition. Enjoy and happy reading!
I am not good at putting into words what my opinion of a book is other than if I like it or not. But I have to tell everyone that I thoroughly have enjoyed all of Jill Haymaker’s Peakview Series books and can’t wait to read the rest. I love how they all intertwine with one another so you get to know everyone in the tight knit community and it makes you wish you could actually got to Peakview to stay at the dude ranch or the bed an breakfast. Then have a meal or two at Violet’s Cafe and shop at Sam’s Hardware or Sophie’s Choice bookstore.
I like the Colorado setting and the Peakview community in this series. This novel emphasizes the value of family and honesty. Tex and Mary's relationship develops slowly. I feel that they are flat, undeveloped characters. Their story does not resonate with me. There was little action or story development. However, if you want to read a pleasant, comfortable story, this may be the book for you. If so, head to the Walker Ranch in Peakview, Colorado where you will meet hardworking cowboys, see beautiful scenery, and hang out with familiar characters from the Peakview community.
The writing was quite choppy - especially the transitions (or lack of?) to what I guess were supposed to be love scenes? I'm not sure. There's no fade to black, it's abrupt, like an unexpected elevator drop. Then, you flip pages back and forth, thinking you must have missed a page or two. The ending is that way as well. The story just stops. The dialogue is flat and monotone. Continuity errors (his eyes, when his mom dies, etc.) are prevalent.
The story itself was an insta-love, but I didn't see or feel any chemistry between the two, so the whole relationship didn't make any sense to me.
Another super book by Jill Haymaker! Take Colorado, the Rocky Mountains, the sounds and smells of the Rocky's, a young couple falling in love, and Jill Haymaker's special talent for mixing it together in her own unique way and you come up with one very special love story! I loved this book. If you love western romance, you'll love this story. A must read! Thanks again Jill......
This is the first time I have read in the Peakview series. I can’t wait to find and read the others. Looking forward to the new series as well. Thank you Ms. Haymaker for a “ real life “ type of story where love can happen no matter where you are in life.
Mountain Cowboy: WOW! Excellent story of finding a home and a women to share it with. He wasn't looking for love we was looking for the right job fit. He found more than he bargain for but he was so much happier at the Walker Ranch. Then any place he ever been worked or lived. Great story!
I waited to write until I completed all 10 books in the Peakview series. An amazing story that is intertwined throughout each book. Each story is completed later in the series. As I finish #10 I see that #11 is now available. I cannot wait to read it.
Love love loved the other Peakview books I've read. This one I'm just didn't find as interesting. yes though he was 36 sounded like a much younger boy. Overall this made it harder for me to read. There wasn't much depth of character
This is another installment from the Peakview series by Jill Haymaker. Most of the characters you’ve grown to love in Peakview put in an appearance but this is primarily Rex and Mary’s story. Another good one!
This book was fun to read.Mary and Tex mae the story enjoyable to follow their journey to finding a solution to be able to marry and live together with the distances in their jobs. It is all about comprise.
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story! The characters were so personable, I love that small town feel. I love relationships that are built on love, trust, and hard work.
This book immediately had me enthralled with it's lovely scenery and delightful characters. I could hardly put it down! It left me with a smile on my face and a glow in my heart! I highly recommend this feel good story!

Not the usual romance i expected. A little more romantic.
Most stories are about physical love first but not tis one. Mire heart felt than the jump into bed ones. May e because the coup!e r older than.their.20s
She wanted to see the world, but fate forced her home for a couple of months. He left a women who was clingy and wanted marriage and kids. He found the perfect job. Then fate brought them together. Somehow, they clicked, and seem to work well together. A really enjoyable reading experience.
I very much enjoy this author's books. I have read several of her books and hope to read as many more as I can find. Thanks for the enjoyment you give.
Ms. Haymaker did it again. I loved this book. The love story of Tex and Mary was wonderful. I love when a story is about two people who try to work out their relationship and not have to have one give in who they are.Enjoy!
These books feel like being at home with food you know and get to visit for a peak into their lives. I have inhaled these books. Looking to read more of this author's writing. I highly recommend this book and the ones preceding it.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It is wonderful how people can work out a peaceful ending to a shaky start when romance is involved. I feel anyone that loves a happy ending will enjoy this book.
