The upcoming culture festival gives Lilysa and Mikari an idea for a surprise club activity. Hint, it involves cosplaying Liliel and Miriella as maids. In preparation for the next convention, Okumura arranges for secret photography training sessions. But the path of otakudom is not without hurdles, and the Manga Club might be about to face their biggest one yet!
Post-debut, Okumura decides to level up his photography skills to help Lilysa out with her cosplay dreams. The two get closer, but the manga club is about to get shut down! The cruel student council… oh, never mind. Then again, Okumura meets a hot potential advisor and… oh, never mind. But those breaks from tradition won’t stop this from turning into… a battle manga!?
Another strong volume of the little pervy manga that could. We lead off this time out with the club trying to figure out a festival activity that won’t violate the school’s decency laws.
Which leads to Lilysa and Mikari doing a test-run maid cafe for Okumura, despite nobody knowing what actually happens in one. Between the usual antics and Mikari’s shyness, this segment is stuffed with a pile of great jokes.
Soon, the student council plots to shut down the manga club, while Okumura and Lilysa bond(age) over pornography. Lilysa’s pure innocence in realizing that she and Okumura are a match because he’s S and she’s M is really funny and the two of them do have such great chemistry together.
This club section is brilliant, if only for Okumura’s confrontation with the council rep, who… politely explains why they’re being shut down and offers all sorts of help and ways they can avoid it. It’s such a clever twist to see a student council out to actually help its students and this leads to some broad misadventure anyway.
When the only teacher left to get as advisor turns out to be the attractive one from last time, well, you can see where that’s going, and there’s one revelation that was pretty obvious from the get-go, but this definitely flips the ‘hot for teacher’ trope in a whole other direction.
The final section is a bit of a return to the broader world of cosplay, as hinted at in an earlier chapter where Okumura is trying to learn photography. Turns out there are four cosplay goddesses and, yes, anybody who wants to climb to the top of this world has to defeat them and their specialties.
And the first target is a 2D loving girl with a team of professional sponsors behind her. They’re setting up the obvious downfall for her, in that she doesn’t care about the characters she’s playing, but Lilysa is still new and gets a dressing down for being passionate, of all things, that rocks her confidence and should provide good conflict next volume.
I mean, this isn’t the next great work of manga, but it’s got themes and treats its characters pretty well, with only occasional goofing around. The teacher winds up with most of the nudity this time, including an incredibly indulgent bonus chapter that is very, very raunchy. This is ecchi, but it’s got more going for it than just ecchi.
3.5 stars - nope, this is still better than it deserves to be, all things considered. It has a pair of fantastic leads and some good comedic chops (I even liked a fourth wall break again!) and, yes, lots of flesh, if that’s your thing. But it’s smarter and more charming than many books of this type and I really respect that.
Way less fan service, which is nice, but also felt more like building blocks then full on story moving forward.
I do love the fact we get a experience of someone who did cosplay and stopped for personal reasons. Though those personal reasons seem legit, in her heart it doesn't feel right. Leaving a kind of sad and bitter life with that. I enjoyed seeing that point of view of a older character. I also like the new girl introduced here, she's kind of a bitch, but her reasoning of why and how she does cosplay should add a new layer to the story.
Overall a good volume but not a great one. Still enjoying the inner workings of cosplay and all that you have to do to make it work. A 3.5 out of 5.
"Right? Even though it's for teenagers shōnen manga doesn't shy away from depravity."
Because this is a manga, we must necessarily have Shi Tennō. Of course, they are Four Heavenly Queens here! (The realistic faces Okumura and Ogino make are hilarious btw). Hoshizuki Yoki is described with "her kinky obsession with pantyhose," so of course I'm most interested in her introduction whenever it comes!!
I still think Lilysa is cuter in her plainclothes form versus any Liliel cosplay. That said, I also still think she's a giant whore for having "erotic cosplay" as her "passion." 乁[ ◕ ᴥ ◕ ]ㄏ
Nagomi is perhaps the most realistic cosplayer thus far, to a degree. That is, essentially she's a shallow whore who cosplays whatever is hot. If she was a real person, you know she'd cosplay as 2B, Zero-Two, Makima, and a whole host of Genshin Impact and Honkai characters. But Nagomi reaches into the realm of fantasy with her seemingly sincere passion for the realm of 2D, which I'd say is really more a male idea in actuality.

Well . . . this is decidedly not your typical harem manga. The story seems to be about Lilysa and Okumura and their growing up together. Cosplay is the glue around which their relationship develops. I'm liking this far more than expected!
Now that the characters are introduced, it's time to expand the world. A challenge has now arisen that threatens the club. I am loving the series so far, let's see how it goes as the story develops.
I have always loved comics, and I can and I have. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more. You should also read what you love, and I hope you will always love it. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.
Ok, I think I've found the main issue that keeps me from enjoying this manga. Instead of embracing cosplay, it feels more like they're lecturing me on the subject matter. Could be due to me still not liking most of these characters, thus their explanations behind their love for cosplay end up falling short for me. Perhaps this is just for hardcore cosplayers, even if I am a bit more familiar with cosplay than most people. Either way, not interested in continuing
(PS why do they censor nipples in some chapters but not others? Bizarre detail to me)
I like the new teacher character and how she knows Lilysa from the past, but the cosplay talk gets a little repetitive for me personally after a while. This new arc is alright though, I suppose.
3 volumes in, and this series is okay so far. I still kinda think of it as a diet ‘My Dress-up Darling’, though. I might collect and read this series further at some point, but idk
