Random circumstances brought them together. Love made them family.
Luke and Jo are spending Christmas in California, leaving Gina, Luke’s sister, in charge of their dogs. Gina’s already feeling sorry for herself with her girls gone for the holidays, choosing to spend their vacation with their dad in Florida.
Determined to make the best of it, Gina consoles herself with all her favorite Christmas treats, a little wine, and lots of streaming of the shows she hasn’t had time to watch. She’s snuggled into her favorite chair, when a broken water main, a winter blizzard, six shelter dogs, and a power outage throw a wrench in her plans for a quiet Christmas.
Along with all the chaos comes Tommy Lane, an old classmate of Gina’s and the local electrician and businessman who helped Jo get her non-profit project for foster children established in Granite Ridge. He offers to help Gina deal with the turmoil and in the process, they end up spending time together.
Tommy doesn’t celebrate Christmas and never puts up a tree, preferring to work through the holidays. Gina’s house is decorated with thousands of lights, two fresh trees, wreaths in every window, and she makes her own ravioli for the holiday meal.
Will a little Christmas magic help the two lonely souls realize they both deserve more, and despite their past, it’s never too late for a second chance?

What a heartwarming and wonderful story Christmas Shelter by Tammy L. Grace is! I always know that Ms. Grace's stories are going to touch my heart and take me on a wonderful, emotional, and uplifting read. This story is full of all great things her stories are treasured for. Especially the relationships between dogs and their peoples. Her writing is pristine in the way she takes her readers into a story that captures hearts and makes the journey with her characters as though I'm right there with them. She brings her characters to life. I love the way I can connect with the characters and pups. This book is the story of Gina and Tommy. Two people who each thought they were going to spend a quiet Christmas alone. But... Oh, no.....unexpected circumstances happen at the local shelter and the pups need a place to be so Gina opens her home to take them in. Gina and Tommy work together to take care of the ten pups during a raging blizzard and their Christmas is much different than they expected.
This story pulled at every emotion I have in me the way a Tammy L. Grace book does. She creates a fictional world that is realistic through her creatively vivid writing. This is a perfect, touching Christmas read to remind me of what Christmas is really about. Giving, love, compassion, and unexpected events that can turn into the best gifts there could be.
Even though I read this book in the heat of summer, it was a wonderful Christmas in July experience. I could imagine myself snuggled under a warm blanket with a hot cup of tea and the snow falling outside. I love the pup characters that add the homey touch and more to the story. This was a wonderful and pleasurable read. I want to thank Ms. Grace for the honor and privilege of spending time in the pages of this book. It was an escape that made my heart happy. It's certainly a five star read for me. All opinions and thoughts in this review are my heartfelt own.
I’m feeling the warm fuzzies and looking forward to Christmas. I can’t wait to put up the tree and enjoy the lights out on the front porch. That is what happened to me while reading Christmas Shelter by Tammy L. Grace. If you love Christmas books, love stories and books with lots of dogs, this book should definitely be on your radar. Christmas Shelter is book number thirteen in the Soul Sister at Cedar Mountain Lodge Series. I’ve read several of the books in this series and it is my aim to read all of them.
This installment is about Gina. She is the woman who moved back to Granite Ridge after her divorce with her two teenage daughters and opened the pet store in town. She is the sister of Luke who is married to Jo. This Christmas she is going to be alone because her daughters are going to Florida to be with their father and the rest of her family is gathering with her parents in California. She is kind of feeling sorry for herself. Let’s put it this way, with a blizzard on the way and an emergency at the animal shelter she is far from alone!
I don’t think there is a primary character in this whole series that I haven’t liked. There are lots of side people but, we don’t get to know them that well. They just fill a purpose. I have liked all of the storylines and the books have all kept me interested. The series has several authors that have contributed books to it but, I can’t tell one author from another. The books flow seemlessly from one story to another. I have fallen in love with this series and I think you will too. The characters are all different age groups so there is something for everyone.
If this sounds interesting, you will certainly love this series. You can jump in anywhere. I don’t think you will feel lost. Each book gives you enough information so you know what is going on. I think you should start from the beginning as you will learn the history of what the books and people are all about but, it is not necessary. It is just the fun way to appoach this series of books. They are not terribly long and make a nice evening or two of reading. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Lovely story with many dogs.Characters from previous books make an appearance. This author always writes a wonderful story. It was amusing reading about a blizzard when my temperature was 98 degrees.Cooking their Christmas ravioli was similar to my Christmas lasagna.
Christmas is on the way and Christmas Shelter by Tammy L. Grace will get you in the spirit! This is number thirteen in the Soul Sister at Cedar Mountain Lodge Series and is filled with love and dogs. My kind of book!
This installment is about Gina, who is going to be alone this holiday. She is feeling forlorn, but could this Christmas turn into something unexpectedly wonderful? Read this delightful book to find out!
Several authors have contributed to this series and the books flow from one story to another. Whether you begin from the first book or skip around, you will be given enough information to understand what is happening.

Gina, is Luke's sister who is married to Jo, has moved back to Granite Ridge, after her divorce, with her two daughters. Gina's daughters are going to be in Florida for Christmas with their father, Luke and Jo is going to California, and she was going to be alone. But, there is Christmas magic, and she discovers that she isn't alone, she is having the time of her life. This is part of the Soul Sister's at Cedar Mountain Lodge series, but can be read as a stand alone, but the whole series, is uplifting, inspirational, and so full of hope.
Author Tammy L. Grace has written a delightful Christmas story just in time for the Holidays! Christmas Shelter (Book 13: Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge) will bring joy to your heart as you read it! It is the story of Gina spending a lonely Christmas — or so she thinks! In reality, she ends up spending it with six shelter dogs, and an old friend and one disaster after another. Gina discovers new things about herself and her friend as they work together to accomplish many needed tasks.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Lone Moutain Press. The opinions expressed here are completely my own & without influence.
Christmas, romance, and dogs…what more could you ask for! This is a cute little cozy Christmas novel and I adored it. It’s the 13th in the series but they are all stand alones, so you don’t have to read them in order. I’m a huge fan of Christmas books because Christmas is my favorite, so this was just icing on the cake!
Thank you so much for an ARC copy. These thoughts are my own!
What is not to love about the Soul Sister Series. The characters are truly wonderful and will have you wanting to hug them or just have a cup of hot cocoa with them. Love that there are always dogs present in books by this author - just makes me happy to read about dogs. I read this sweet and fun book in one sitting and could not put it down.
I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
Love the continuation of this sweet series. Gina and Tommy are thrown together by random circumstances involving a busted pipe at an animal shelter, a blizzard and approaching Christmas holidays.
Gina is alone for the holidays as her daughters are with their dad in Florida. Tommy grew up raising his brothers without a dad and later no mom
The pair have lots of adventures taking care of 10 dogs, of various sizes when the blizzard strikes and they lose power. Survival requires quick thinking and innovative solutions to survive.
Is there a future for the pair?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This voluntary review is my honest opinion
I love, love, loved this book! Feeling bad that he saddled Gina with 6 shelter dogs on top of the 2 she was watching for her brother and her own 2 dogs, Tommy opted to stay and help. That was a lot of paws to dry off after each trip outside in the snow. Gina was alone for Christmas. Her girls were in Florida with their dad and her extended family was in California. She welcomed the company and the help. They worked so well together and had similar interests. Spending the time with Tommy made her Christmas a little less lonely. Tommy realized this was the best Christmas he had ever had. He usually worked during the holidays. A blizzard, a power outage and 10 dogs might just be the best things that ever happened to them. Tammy Grace is excellent at details. Through vivid imagery, she has the ability to make the reader feel a connection with the characters and their surroundings. You feel you are a part of the story and watching it all unfold. Thank you to Tammy L. Grace for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
What a wonderful book to spend Christmas in July with, a great addition to the series. Was so much fun getting to know Gina and Tommy better and read all about their antics with all their dogs. A lovely holiday read.
A wonderful heartwarming story of new beginning romance and lots of dogs. Gina, facing Christmas all alone since all her family is spending it away from town, begins to feel a little sorry for herself; until the local shelter has a need for dogs to be taken care of. Her friend Tommy delivers them to her and stays to help her since it's now 10 dogs and becomes 11 with his and a blizzard hits and it's quite an effort to take care of them all and her neighbor who is in need of help. But all ends well!!!! I love Tammy's heartwarming books and appreciate being able to advance read.
Christmas Shelter, book #13 in the Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge series, is a great addition to this collection of heartwarming stories. The story centers on Gina, who is home alone in Granite Ridge for the holidays, and her friend Tommy, who doesn’t really celebrate Christmas. The two of them wind up spending the holiday together as a blizzard hits and a power outage closes the local dog shelter. There’s lots of small-town charm, humor, Christmas magic, romance, and more dogs than you can keep track of. Don’t miss reading this one (or the rest of the series)! Thank you to Tammy L. Grace for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Gina expects to be all alone this Christmas, but then Tommy calls to tell her the animal shelter has frozen and burst pipes and all the animals need to be relocated temporarily. She agrees to take on 6 of the smaller dogs. With her 2 and her brother Luke's 2 that gives her 10 to take care of, so Tommy agrees to stay with his dog and help. Spending time together taking care of the dogs and her elderly neighbor becomes even more of a challenge when a blizzard rolls in and knocks out the power. This Christmas is nothing like anything she has experienced before, but with Tommy's help it was much better than expected! Read this to see the whole experience! Read the series in order to get the most from this one.
The pace is engrossing and the tone is hopeful with a character centered storyline that has no steam. The characters are vibrant and endearing, including all the animal characters! This is a super Christmas story to remind you that giving of yourself is the best part of Christmas, as usually you get back MUCH more than you give. Enjoy!
This is the story of Luke’s sister, Gina. Gina’s 2 daughters have gone to their father’s home for Christmas, her parents and Luke’s family have also gone away. Gina is watching Luke’s 2 dogs along with her own and preparing for a lonely Christmas. An emergency at the local shelter has Tommy calling on Gina to help. Add 6 dogs from the shelter and Tommy’s dog to the mix and it makes for a chaotic, but special Christmas for Gina and Tommy. Tammy Grace has a way of pulling you into the story, rooting for the characters and laughing at the antics of 11 dogs!
Christmas Shelter: WOW! I am glad Gina got her own story! It was heart warming and love how she would do anything for the animals. She may not have the girls at home for the holidays but it work out because Tommy was there for her and a connection that she didn't expect happen and she thought after her marriage didn't work there would be anyone for her. I really enjoyed her story!
Gina owns Wags and Tails pet store. Her two daughters are visiting their dad in Florida for Christmas vacation. Gina was not looking forward to Christmas alone. Getting phone call from Tommy at animal welfare asking if she could take a couple of dogs. The fun begins along with a snow storm which lasted 3days and ended up being Gina 4 dogs, Tommy 1dog, shelter dogs 5. Really a cute story!! Great job. Thank you.
What a sweet Christmas romance about Gina and Tommy, and a whole lot of dogs that end up spending days together and Christmas due to a blizzard. This was such a quick, cozy read - perfect for Christmas season. I'm a sucker for dogs and men who have a good and honest heart - this story and these characters have both!
Thank you to Tammy for an ebook copy in exchange for my review.
This story didn't have the romantic appeal of the others. Too many dog details, too many dog names to keep up with. Cute - sometimes. Needed more personal interaction between Gina and Tommy. Not my favorite in the series.
The characters were delightful. They were all about love and loyalty. The book has alot of humor. This was a good book about 2nd chances. I really enjoyed how helpful they were to neighbors. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
