This is the voice of the mature Israel Regardie, distilling the knowledge of a lifetime devoted to the study and practice of magic, Natural Healing, and Psychology. It has been, enhanced with orginal essays on the Philosophy and Technique of Active Prayer by Christopher S. Hyatt, Ph.D.; The Middle Pillar as a Group Working by James Wasserman; a Qabalistic analysis of The Sacred Ritual of the Pentagram by AIMA, and A Pentagram Exercise by Lon Milo Du Quette.
Israel Regardie (born Francis Israel Regudy) was considered by many to be the last living Adept of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. At an early age, Regardie worked as Aleister Crowley's personal secretary. In addition to his extensive writings, Regardie practiced as a chiropractor and as a neo-Reichian therapist. He taught psychiatry at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and contributed articles to many psychology magazines.
The first half was much more accessible to me. The second half gets very technical about metaphysical practice. Regardie was an important link in the chain that brought Eastern metaphysics to the West. I was surprised at the unapologetically Christian viewpoint.
I read everything that wilson writes, and he forward this book, which is written by his favorite type of people; occults!! I was introduced to the consept of emodiment couple of months after reading this, but sure reconnecting with your first chakra through yoga and prayers helps.
