Rayne just wanted a little extra-curricular education, Cade needed to prove he could stick to one woman for 30 days, and somehow, that turned into one of the hottest, most unexpectedly delicious romances I’ve read in a while. She’s her brother’s best friend, he’s a commitment-phobe with a reputation, and their little deal should have been nothing more than a fun, no-strings-attached arrangement. But the thing about playing with fire? Someone’s bound to get burned—and in this case, they both go up in flames.
That was such a hot surprise. I was a little apprehensive at first because, based on the summary, this could have been a hot mess. Instead, it was a sweaty, wet night as I started this book at 10 p.m. and couldn't put it down. It took Cade and Rayne 30 days to fall in love; it took me 200 pages to add this consortium of authors to my favorite list. What I really appreciated is that, yes, the ending is predictable—this is romance, after all—but I expected the usual breakup drama, the classic third-act turmoil. Instead, the authors skipped the clichés and gave me a love story that kept me on my toes. I was so happy not to be able to guess every twist, and I truly enjoyed every page of it.
And then, there was Cade. Listen, I thought I was getting a typical commitment-phobe who’d slowly realize he caught feelings. But what I got? A dominant, take-control alpha who introduced Rayne to a whole new world—and let’s just say, she loved every second of it. So did I. The first time he wrapped his hand around her neck? Yeah, I was gone. It wasn’t just the heat (though trust me, there was plenty of that), but the way he read her, pushed her limits, and still made it feel intimate and so damn sexy. It took everything to another level and made their chemistry explode right off the page.
If you love your romance with sizzling tension, a heroine who knows what she wants, and a hero who turns out to be even better than expected (and way hotter), The C Agreement is a must-read. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go recover—and maybe reread a few select scenes.
