Book two of 3.
Wow Kylie Kent doesn't let you down with her writing, she keeps you on the edge of your seat.
This book starts out with you believing that Theo has been killed in an explosion leaving Holly grieving so bad that at one point she thinks she wants to end her own life just to find peace and be with him.
Holly really has come a long way from the skittish woman right at the beginning of book one, a total kickass strong female lead. With a strong male leading her she has come into her own.
Really looking forward to the final part of this story coming out to get all the answers in finding out if Theo can put a stop to trafficking ring of women and young girls, to finding out who he can really trust to have in his inner circle.
Lots of great banter between all the characters and very hot sexy times with the main characters.
A very well deserved 5* from me. I was given this as an ARC copy for my honest review.

This book felt like a placeholder in this series which is not a bad thing. It gave time to build relationships with the side characters I still enjoyed it.

Holly’s reaction to Theo’s fake death was expected. It didn’t take long for her to figure out the truth. I’m so glad Kylie didn’t drag on the fake death because it was very obvious what happened.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨?
𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸? 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴.

Neo carried. He is just naturally witty and I was just laughing in 90% of his scenes. Get me his book right now.

"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯, 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺? 𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦?"

My favourite side of Neo is definitely how he’s naturally protective towards everyone it’s expected for Theo but because Holly is important to Theo she became important to Neo and I WAS LIVING FOR IT.

"𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭? 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸? 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦?"
"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵? 𝘕𝘰. 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦, 𝘏𝘰𝘭, 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥'𝘴 𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. Sonnie is a new character in this book. He’s one of the security and soldiers for the Valentino’s mafia. I really loved Sonnie and Holly’s friendship and I was devastated at what happened to him in the end.

"𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘧. 𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘵 𝘶𝘱𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳, 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘪𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘴." 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘳𝘬𝘴. "𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴."

I love how easy all the characters had a friendship with each-other it felt natural and has a good flow. I’m hoping we still see more from Holly’s family and friends in the next book.

Theo still is a sweetheart. I can’t wait for the last book to see their relationship strengthen but also now I need my hands on a second generation.

"𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘻𝘪 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴."

Donatello got my respect at the end of the book. He was so protective to Holly and Theo so I really want more of his character there is a LOT of unanswered questions. Praying we see a lot more of him.

The twins are annoying in this book

This was not as good as the first book. The mafia part might be ok; was a little thin.
But the romance storyline….
Theo is a raging maniac when it comes to Holly. His temper and rage are out of proportion. Yes, he loves her; he’s possessive of her. Any alpha male would be. But this is over the top.
Holly is a demon spawn in this book. Considering she fainted when she saw a gun, then goes on to blow made men away? Ridiculous. Also, she’s rude and argumentative with Theo. In front of his men. Even the mafia notwithstanding, that’s just not done to someone you love. Especially if she’s the calm and quiet twin. Her sister is even worse. So rude.

Unassuming Queen. Is just that Holly Reynolds Valentino is so strong, to be a Mafia Bosses wife she needs to be. Watching the house that blew up that T was in at the cliffhanger in book 1 left her devastated. We get to see the transformation that Holly becomes, page after page you will be drawn into the Mafia world. There is Angst, murder, anxiety, deceit, devastating loss, and many more feelings and how families come together to support their loved ones.

As we all know there is another book before we get to find out if Holly gets her happy ever after. in United Reign

Well, Ms. Kent does it again with Unassuming Queen. She gave us an amazing story of two completely opposite people that fell in love in the first book, Devilish King. In Unassuming Queen, she grabs our attention and has us sitting on the edge of our seats. The twists and turns that she throws at us play with our heads. Just when you think you have part of the puzzle solved, she throws yet another curve at you.

At the end of Devilish King, we read that Holly has just witnessed the man that she loves with her whole heart die in an explosion, or did he? Holly and Theo's connection was so strong and their chemistry was instantaneous that having to continue to live without her husband is too much for Holy to deal with. She is left to be the Queen of the family that she has just married into and really knows nothing about. How can she rule a mafia family without her husband at her side?

Theo is dying inside having to watch Holly suffer and having to live without him. He needs to be with her and will not stop at anything to just that. Will Theo put both of their lives on the line? Can he be forgiven for the pain that he caused? Theo will stop at nothing to make the people pay for the crimes that they are doing and now he has his fierce Queen by his side.

This book is full of suspense, hope, anger and true love. Kylie's writing is emotionally gripping as I was unable to put this one down. The cliffhanger that she throws at us had my heart stop beating. Waiting for the final installment is going to be next to impossible. If you are looking for a trilogy that will have your head spinning, your heart beating faster and you holding your breath, then this is the one. Grab Devilish King and Unassumng Queen and get ready for the ride of your life.

Ma’am!!! First how you just gonna drop that bomb and then leave us like Bish I will check you later…..Gawd the connection that these two have with one another runs soul deep. Their chemistry and love bleeds through the pages. The grief they are both going through is both gut wrenching and heart breaking you feel just as deeply for these characters as if you are in their story as well. One cannot live with out the other. Everything about them revolves around one another even when they are separated which doesn’t happen often because they cannot stand to be apart.

Holly is a freaking Queen to say the least this woman right here is the only people on the planet that can go toe to toe with T and handle business. She is meant to stand by his side and rule the kingdom. Holly is everything you could possibly want in a FMC she is fierce, fearless and ballsy. T wants nothing more than to keep his woman locked up and safe and he will do anything and everything to make that happen but Holly is not having any of that she wants to be her own person she wants to stand by T’s side and handle business like the boss that she is.

Once again I am blown away by everything Kylie write and this series is no different it is such an emotional and thrilling read that will captivate you from the beginning while dropping bombs on you that will have you begging for the next book in the series. I need book 3 like yesterday!!

Unassuming Queen is book two in the Valentino Empire trilogy and follows on straight away from the end of book one (Devilish King - if you haven't yet, go read that because it's brilliant!). We were left with a cliffhanger and so the start of this book is full of emotion and suspense. We meet back with Holly who is suffering from the aftereffects of Devilish King while Neo tried his best to look after her... and boy, my heart broke. Now thoroughly mixed up in the Mafia world, will Holly be able to cope?

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I have loved all of Kylie's books and they just keep on getting better and better. Really fantastic writing with great character development and plot growth. Unassuming Queen has plenty of Kylie's signature steam dotted throughout the story and another heart stopping ending. I don't want to give too much away as to the plot but it's just *chef's kiss*

We also get to meet a couple of the characters we grew to love from the Merge universe too which was a welcome bonus!

Another of Kylie's books I whole heartedly recommend and I wait with anticipation for the final instalment, United Reign.

Unassuming queen? I really don’t get that. I thought there would be some kind of stepping up but there wasn’t.

“Sometimes I think my life would be so much easier if she was a little wallflower, who would listen and follow my every command. On the other hand, I know I’d be bored shitless without her spunk and determination.”

Holly is OTT in whining like a little child having temper tantrum every 5 minutes. Blah! Her and her twin were annoying AF.

And the whole mafia drama could have been good but my enjoying that was overtaken by my dislike of the way Holly was treating Theo. I can understand that she’s been thrust into that like in really only a matter of weeks but it was too much. I’m sure it’s mean to showcase how strong she was but she really did nothing. She just became a whining brat.

And I really hate that this drawn out, but at times rushed, series is now going into book 3. I’m struggling with it.

Picking up right where that mind blowing cliffhanger left us my heart was completely breaking for Holly- I honestly didn’t think she was going to be able to cope- she however proved me very wrong and firmly and proudly stepped into her role as 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 of the Valentino empire. Theo continues to be his normal possessive, protective, alpha self- as always that’s a 𝗬𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝘀𝗶𝗿- from me 😉

This book has a great mixture of dark, drama, suspense and steam. This author has such a way with words that I gobbled this story up in a matter of hours. My only wish and the only reason this wasn’t five stars for me what because some of the conflict felt too easily resolved, otherwise I’m loving this series and after that jaw dropping ending I’m looking forward to book 3.

This is a continuation from Devilish King and that must be read first. I’m glad we get answers to the cliffhangers right away. The is the continued story of T and Holly and all they have to go thru. I will say that Holly drove me nuts a lot of the time, I found myself saying what is she thinking! Besides that the steam scenes are yummy.

Once again, Kylie has blown my mind with yet another amazing book! If you didn’t already love Holly (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t) then I guarantee that you will absolutely adore her by the end of this book. The connection between these two characters run so deep that if you look up the definition of soul mates I’m sure that it would show their picture.

Holly has continued to grow into such an amazing female lead throughout this story. However, being forced to be the front of a family that she’s only known for a short amount of time is not where she seen her life going. But when she unfortunately is left with that situation she takes that situation and makes the most of it.

T is having such a tough time. Watching someone that he loves grieve him when they don’t technically have to has to be the purest form of torture for him. But these two are the strongest of magnets when it comes to each other and ultimately staying apart is just something that can NOT happen. Finally having the girl and learning to deal with being the head of the Valentino family is one thing but he definitely wasn’t ready for huge curveball that was just thrown his way.

In true Kylie fashion, the bomb that was dropped at the end of this book leaves me aching for book 3. I can NOT wait to see where the next book takes us.

Kylie continues to build on the volatile mafia world in New York. The Valentino empire hangs on the edge of the precipice of change with the latest family head gone who will take up the reins now?

Holly is trying and failing to come to terms with what she witnessed as that house blew up with her world inside. Her emotional torture makes for griping reading, her actions make her so relatable as you experience what she does. She steps up to her role as the Queen faultlessly and earns the respect of those around even one who tou would never have expected.

Theo left a path of destruction after that day that may never be healed, emotional damage cuts the deepest. Everything was done with the best of intentions to flush out a mole but is it more then one? Can he right the wrongs of those who threaten the safety of so many? Is it possible for one man or does he need an army?

There is so much heartfelt devastation in this book that you will be pulled in by every word. The heat, passion and struggle that is Theo and Holly only gets more intense as a massive bomb shell is dropped that shakes the foundations of everything they know.

Within the first pages I swore, I laughed, I worried and I had that wry loving smile... But then wow Kent led me on such an adventure...

If a book could have more than five stars I would totally do that for Unassuming Queen

I'm not even actually sure I know how to verbalise what I have just gone through while reading this latest installment. This has to be the best yet of Kent's work...and I was a huge fan of Dean, Zach and Alex and their woman...

The emotions this book pulled out of me, the way the story moved, the way the characters just had everything you could possibly want...This book is just pure epic mix of chaos and paradise...

Remember though that is is book 2 in the trilogy and you MUST MUST MUST read these in order... therefore, If you haven't reas Devilish King (Book 1) do so immediately then put up your do not disturb sign and dive in...

Though had some idea of how the book would go, I was still blown away by Theo and Holly’s story.

We know book one ended in a fiery cliffhanger and from there it only continues to gain speed as Holly immerses herself in the mafia world of the Valentinos. She has help from those around and of course her presumed dead husband. Even with help she’s still had to constantly look over her shoulder as some very bad people want to destroy her.

And of course you’re left once again with big reveal of a cliffhanger to drive you nuts.

The story just gets hotter and juicier this time. But Holly is not the same woman who left Australia. She becomes stronger and more confident as she realizes her future is with the Valentinos. Be prepared for the hot and heavy steam between her and Theo.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Another fabulously possessive and all consuming installment in Theo and Holly's Valentino Empire trilogy. This picks up right after the cliff hanger of Devilish King.

Unassuming Queen is really Holly's story of coming into her own. Long gone is the quiet girl of book one. In her few weeks in T's world she has really grown in feistiness and confidence. She truly has become T's equal and together they will be a true force to be reckoned with.

T remains the cool as a cucumber Mafia leader. He has the controlling alpha jealousy thing down. I loved his growly fly across the world to see her obsessiveness.

These two are a delight to read and I cannot wait for book 3. Kylie Kent writes these crazy obsessive couples so beautifully and T and Holly are all steam and passion and great love.

god I love Holly!! hew growth is incredible in this book and she really is the perfect unassuming queen. I adored how she had Theos men wrapped round her fingers. Being thrust into the head of a crime family whilst grieving so hard wasn't what she expected but she makes it work and owns it.

T is finding sometimes when you make your bed you have to lie in it, and he isn't enjoying it. I don't want to give spoilers but I did enjoy seeing this side of him. I loved seeing more of Holly's family and their reactions to her marriage too.

That blinking cliffhanger though. Totally wasn't what I was expecting but I'm sooo here for it!

Wow. These cliffhangers are making me want more. Kylie has nailed it again.
A lot of unanswered questions from the first book we finally get answers for.
Holly is was definitely born a queen and was definitely made for Theo.
Holly is a strong confident women that won’t let anyone boss her around regardless of who it it’s.
This book is full of love, heartache, happiness and surprises.
They are a match made in heaven. If you love mafia books then this series is definitely a must read.
Can’t wait for the final book.

brilliant

I’ve read hundreds of mafia books as this is my favourite genre, i absolutely loved this series and cannot wait for the third book at the end of this month, I’ve put a reminder on my Calendar.
I loved the chemistry between Theo and Holly and how Holly was a bit timid but became stronger when it involved someone hurting Theo. This series is the first books I’ve read by this author and I cannot wait to read more which is why while I’m waiting for United Reign to come out I’m going to read the Merge series. 💖

This book was better than the first one as there was a plot.
Though there was a plot i would have loved if there were more explanations about everything that was happening in the book.
The author is trying to create some suspense but as a reader i need some crumbs to be invested in the story and continue reading it.

As for the MCs, the Mmc Theo was great, i like him (in both the books) but the Fmc Holly, gawd she was getting on my nerves. She was literally picking fights with Theo even when she knew she was wrong. I found her tantrums and moods really stupid and unnecessary.

Did it again....

What a way to continue Holly and T's story......
Do not underestimate Holly She is strong a fearless, will fight to get the answers and whst she wants.
T does everything he can to protect her.

Hopefully T can help Holly with cope with everything. There love and relationship is strong

What a way to end the book, with that snippet of information.

Can't wait to see how this will end and what is in store for Holly and T

Amazing

Holly truly became a queen in this book. It was amazing to see her grow even in her grief. I loved watching her and Gloria develop a relationship. I loved seeing all my favourite characters from previous books. I was not ready for the loss at the end. I did figure out the big reveal early on, I can’t wait to see how that plays out in the next book.

So awesome!

Kylie Kent has given us the next awesome book in the Valentino Empire series! Holly and Theo's story continues and is lovingly written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout. So many trials and tribulations for them to work through, and another massive cliffhanger but you definitely don't want to miss out on this book!!

Stahhhppp it!!! Goodness this series! First off, T you jerk! But watching Holly come into her own and really own it (chef’s kiss)! Loved every word on every page and I’m dying for the third. I wish authors could write as fast as I read!!! The first book in this series is Devilish King and should be read first!
