Pick a Story: A Pirate Alien Jungle Adventure is a brilliant book that has kept the children entertained for a long time. We have read it many times now and it's great how we get to experience the uniqueness of the story being different each time we read it.

The story follows Vincent who has lost his dog Trouble but was it the aliens, pirates or does the answer lie within the jungle. The children loved finding out and they really enjoyed getting to decide from the question and short clue as to what we might be led to on the next page.

The illustrations are eye catching, colourful and lots of fun to look at. I thought that the children might have a favourite out of the three story themes within the book but they were very excited to see all of the pirates, aliens and the jungle and they loved feeling like they were exploring each of these locations with Vincent.

The way the book allows readers to interact with the story is fantastic and the children enjoyed answering the questions within the book like counting and picking souvenirs. This is the kind of thing that I tend to encourage them to do with most books anyway as it's a good way to keep them engaged and get them involved so the way the story incorporates this into the illustrations adds even more fun to the story.

The children's favourite part of the story was definitely finding Trouble amongst all of the aliens. They found this a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge which just added to the excitement they had when they found the right Trouble. I did find myself skipping to this page at times when reading though as the only problem with the book is sometimes it felt like we were going in circles and just when the end of the story seemed in sight we were back at the start again! This, of course, is not a problem if you have time but not ideal if you just wanted a quick book.

This is a brilliant book that we've loved reading. It is an such an enjoyable interactive book that could give you a new story each time on the adventure to find Trouble.

Sarah Coyle and Adam Walker-Parker’s choose-your-own-adventure style picture book for readers aged 3+ is a fun way of introducing children to making decisions and following different story paths. The illustrations are bright and packed with detail, the different adventures are cosy and silly and each has a little activity to keep readers occupied. All in all, I think this is very entertaining and a great introduction to gaming-type books.
