With this hockey season on the line, I can’t afford any distractions. And a dating reality show is one huge distraction. But there's a surefire way to get out of this dating show contract. All I have to do is get married.
Even with a reputation like mine–the Scottish bad boy of hockey–I'm confident I can find someone to play Mrs. Taylor Savage for a year.
Like Becca Barnes. The one who got away. Too bad she hates me. But that's why she’s perfect for this arrangement.
My contract is dissolved. She gets the bakery of her dreams.
Win-Win.
She just has to live with me and pretend she loves me in public for a year. No strings. No touching (unless there’s a camera). No messy heartbreak.
It’s sure to be a challenge because with the way I crave her, keeping my hands to myself might be harder than I planned.
But I can handle this. Being married to her will be easy. As long as I don't fall in love with her along the way.
USA Today bestselling author Kim Loraine was raised a Navy brat but spent most of her life growing up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. A proper Washingtonian, she's addicted to coffee, doesn't let a little rain ruin her day, and thinks the sun is a gift from God. When not chasing her three little minions around, Kim spends her time writing, reading, and binge watching Doctor Who.
I wanted to like it because the setting and characters were sympathetic, but the book's plot had so many internal inconsistencies that maddened me to no end (E.g. ). The story could have made for a nice book IF there had been responsible editing going on. And don't get me started on the silly third act break up that was cleared up fast (in an uncomprehending fashion) in two lines.
Again, I repeat (because I need to vent it out): needs editing, editing, editing - make sure timeline and events remain chronologically logical; learn how to transition logically between scenes; stop the tell scenes and turn them into show; cut down the silly, aimless banter; beef up the characters, make them act logically; if drama is introduced, build it up, don't kill it prematurely or best don't introduce it if there will be no decent follow up. Sorry for the expunging spectacle 🙄.

(audiobook) This series so far has been a trope treasure. After a cowboy friends to lovers romance and a hockey mistaken identity romance, it’s time for an arranged marriage, with a touch of forbidden–Becca is Taylor’s boss’s wife’s sister. With a sexy accent!
Becca and Taylor meet, feel attracted to each other, flirt a bit, have almost a one night stand. Misunderstandings keep them away from each other until Taylor comes back with a proposition Becca can’t refuse: a wedding for the bakery of her dreams. There’s attraction even before it starts, so you can guess the direction it goes once they spend more time together. Then there’s the fact that he’s a hockey player, a celebrity, and Becca’s brother-in-law owns the team, and you get a difficult situation.
Dubbed as a bad boy, Taylor seemed anything but. He’s a charmer for sure, and his Scottish accent helps with getting the girls. But I felt he was genuine in his pursuit of Becca, even sometimes innocent. Though his motivation in marrying Becca is less than altruistic, he needs his temporary wife to be Becca because he wants to help her, and he wants to see her again–at least, that’s how I felt. The Scottish hockey player is also way more than he shows. I wasn’t too fond of that aspect, because I didn’t think it offered much to Taylor’s character, but I can see the appeal.
As for Becca, she was a warrior. Nothing much scares her, and she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s willing to make sacrifices for her dreams, and when she’s in, she’s in. But when she’s not, you’ll have a hard time convincing her. She appeared stubborn at times, but maybe that was exactly what Taylor needed.
The romance starts hot, then grows cold at the beginning of the marriage, just to become scorching hot again as time passes. I loved that they developped feelings by being around each other all the time. They discover who the other is, and fall in love slowly–while lusting after each other, of course.
There wasn’t much hockey here, but Taylor’s career is in question for various reasons, and it was interesting to see his struggles. But I’m still puzzled by the dating app and the reality TV show. It’s a fun idea, and a useful plot device, but I don’t feel it’s realistic.
The male narrator did a perfect Scottish accent, and the female narrator did great with strong-willed Becca. The cameo for Maverick–from a previous book–was delicious. I think the narration gives the book that little something that makes it good, and not just okay.
Quickie
- Series: Anything for love #3 (can be read as a standalone, linked to various series by the same author) - Hashtags: #hockey romance #fake marriage #one night stand #forbidden romance #Scottish hero - Triggers: N/A - Main couple: Becca Barnes & Taylor Savage - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + I loved how Taylor kept saying he musn’t screw up, just before screwing up - – I felt the whole Scottish lord was a bit too much and unnecessary
*ALC received from Audibly Addicted in exchange for my honest review. *
You are not prepared for Shane East as Taylor Savage!! I will forever be the girl who is a sucker for a Scotsman, so I knew this story was already going to be a win. What I wasn't expecting was the bad boy with all the arrogance to be so damned sweet!! My heart was entirely captured by the hockey player with all the heart from the moment he called Becca "Tink".
Becca had so much faith in Taylor Savage. She believed he was more than he was from the moment she met him, but she didn't want to let herself go there. Too bad she didn't hold strong to her instincts because after too many crash and burns Becca knew it was time to let the bad boy go. Except he wasn't having that and when he shows up on her door months later offering her a proposal, she can't refuse Becca knows this time she will lose her heart if she isn't cautious.
This is no simple marriage of convenience. There are already feelings involved when Taylor and Becca get hitched, and with more time spent together those feelings only intensify. Can the bad boy hockey star and the baker make their marriage arrangement last or will the fear and what ifs they both can't let go of ruin it before it even really begins.
I know I have already raved about Shane East but come on it is Shane East with a Scottish accent I could prattle on for ages! Stella Hunter was the perfect narrator for Becca because the sass was strong, and she executed it so well. I can't forget J.F. Harding though. His part as Maverick was a nice little trip down memory lane and I will forever swoon for his southern drawl.
Kim Loraine is one of my favorite authors and whether it is cowboys, vampires, or a Scottish Hockey player you will never be in short supply of an alpha male and the person he is meant to be with.
“I want it all. I want us. I don’t want it to be pretend. I fell for you the moment I saw you on the ferry. And I think you fell for me too. But I scared you.”
This is my first time reading this author and this book did not disappoint. This book it had me at marriage of convenience. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
Becca is a baker and she is also the sister-in-law to the owner of the Cyclones. Taylor is a professional hockey player who plays for the cyclones. Becca meet Taylor on the ferry and they have an instant connection. What she didn’t expect was almost killing him on their first date. She also doesn’t have time for a player in her life no matter how hot his accent is. She been hurt before and she scared of getting her again. They lose touch for a while but suddenly he’s on her door step asking her to marry him and he won’t take no for an answer. They made an arrangement that he will pay for her bakery all she has to do is stay married to him for a year, so he can get of a horrible contract. They both agreed to no strings attached and no touching unless there are cameras present. When he moves in they chemistry only intensifies and after a few months they get to know each other well. They had great banter and their relationship becomes something either expected. Becca and Taylor had a true connection that wasn’t just sexual. They were both falling for each other which scared them because neither of them had a good example of a marriage or a healthy relationship. I absolutely love both Becca & Taylor, they had such great passion, tension and both had flaws. The two of them were perfect for one another.
I can’t wait for the next book.
I would recommend if you like: 💛Marriage of convenience 💛Sports romance 💛Forced Proximity 💛Grumpy x Sunshine 💛Steamy scenes🔥
Thank you Candi Kane PR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Taylor is a professional hockey player who is entering a pivotal part in his career and needs to remain focused on the season. The last thing he needs is to have take part in a dating site so desperate times call for desperate measures which means a marriage of convenience. He has the perfect woman in mind and now he just needs to convince her.
The building that Becca and her sister chose for the bakery needs more renovations than she can afford. When she and Taylor first met there was no denying the attraction between them, but it ended before it really began. The arrangement he offers will benefit both their careers and with the rules clearly defined what could possibly go wrong?
There was no denying the chemistry and connection between them but when life threw them curveballs, they didn’t always make the best choice, but friends and family weren’t about to stand by and let them make the biggest mistake of their lives. The performance of the narrators made this great story even better as they brought out the personality of the sexy Scot as well as the fierce and strong side of Taylor.
5 star Review The Marriage Arrangement (Anything For Love #3) by Kim Lorraine
Kim Lorraine is a new author to me and I cannot believe I have not read more of her books before. This may have been my first book but it will not be my last. From the first chapter to the last I was hooked on professional hockey player Taylor Savage and Becca Barnes’s second chance at love story. It was well written, entertaining and I loved everything about The Marriage Arrangement. Not only were the characters engaging but they are easy to like and relate to. Taylor needs a wife in a hurry and he turns to the woman who got away, Becca to help him out. It’s such a shame that she can’t stand him. Convincing her to enter a marriage of convenience for a year is hard work but once he breaks through her walls, she finally agrees. The chemistry between them is intense and as lines are crossed it complicates things. However what happens when pretence becomes real? Will they take a chance or will the past destroy their chance at happiness?
If you want a sweet marriage of convenience, then this is it. Although Taylor and Becca's journey to HEA has its own bumps and trials. I especially loved how they are with each other and you can feel the feelings between them are only growing as they are with each other. Taylor is just the sweetest guy ever. I loved him for all the things he did for Becca and vice versa.
The Marriage Arrangement by Kim Loraine was a sweet and swoony marriage of convenience romance that went from fake to forever and absolutely melted my heart. Taylor, a Scottish hockey bad boy, and Becca, a saucy determined baker, have instant chemistry that sparks from their first encounter on the ferry to an unforgettable ice skating date, all the way to Scotland, and so much more! I’d been anticipating Taylor’s romance for a while, and Kim didn’t disappoint!
Stella Hunter and Shane East narrate this audiobook in duet with J.F. Harding. Stella’s performance of Becca is vulnerable yet passionate as she gives into her desires, falls hard for Taylor, and remains true to herself. Shane is oh so dreamy as Taylor, bringing all the charm with a swoony Scottish accent. I love how his tone softened as Taylor discovered his love for Becca. (Happy sigh…) Plus, J.F. returns to voice Mav, which made me fall hard for him and Clara all over again!
Overall, I loved the audiobook. If you are a fan of a hockey romance with a Scottish hockey hunk, Tinkerbell fairy baker, the Seattle Cyclones hockey team, Bainbridge Island, ferry rides, unfortunate misunderstandings, a magical trip to Scotland, super hot steamy times, second chances, sisterly love, a little bit of angst, and a HEA that warm your heart in the best ways, then you will love Taylor and Becca’s romance. I always look forward to more from Kim Loraine.
Not having read any other books by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading The Marriage Arrangement. Needless to say, Loraine manages to deliver a swoon worthy and steamy sports romance that should definitely make the top of your must-read list!
As the bad boy of Seattle hockey, Taylor Savage has a reputation of attracting women left and right. Although he is the best at the what he does when it comes being out on the ice, being in a relationship is not something that he wants. But it’s due to his job that Taylor is able to attract sponsors and one of them is ready to sign him for a five-year endorsement deal. All Taylor has to do is use a dating app and then potentially be in a reality dating show after. With no time to lose, Taylor is set on to do whatever it takes to get out of the contract and that is to get married. He needs to find the right person to play his wife for a year, and he wastes no time going to ask the one person that got away to be his wife.
Ever since Taylor met Becca a few months ago on a ferry trip, it was their instant chemistry and her sass that attracted him to her. But things didn’t work the way he planned and they went on their separate ways. It’s ever since that he’s been waiting to get another chance with her and so they make arrangement. She will get the bakery that she’s always wanted in exchange for a year of being his wife. It all sounded too simple, yet the longer they spend together, the more Taylor is starting to fall for her. He just needs to convince her to give them a chance before it’s too late.
As a co-owner of a bakery, Becca Barnes has high hopes to make her business a success. The last thing she wants is to get distracted by a Scottish mystery man. He is attractive and has a dreamy accent. But it’s his fun personality that wins her over, until she finds out who he really is. Taylor is quickly set on taking her on a date, but that’s all she can give him. Love is not something she believes in after being surrounded by her parents’ failing marriage that turned for the worse when she was younger. She is quickly reminded that he is a player and they part aways. Only to be reunited again a few months later, this time with a proposal that would change their lives forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Marriage Arrangement, though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. I had so much fun reading the interactions between Taylor and Becca. He is a dreamy Scottish hockey player who is sweet and caring towards her throughout the book. I think they both made an impression on each other when they met and their chemistry just kept getting better as the book progressed. We have two completely different characters who are connected by the notion of not having the best examples of love growing up. Yet, it’s their marriage arrangement that ultimately brings them together for better or worse. All in all, I would highly recommend checking out this book and I cannot wait to read more from the author in the future. :)
***I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.***
This book y’all…hot dang! Becca and Taylor were FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I adored every second of this book, even when Becca and Taylor were being dumb and I wanted to smack them upside the head to knock some sense into them LOL. Not only did I absolutely LOVE the storyline, but these characters had me hook line and sinker. The chemistry between Taylor and Becca was completely electric, a buzzing, tangible thing. Despite their desire to try and push each other away and “hate” one another…that was never truly possible. They not only desired and lusted after each other, but there was a true love deep down that neither could deny. They were perfect for one another and once they truly let themselves see that, there was no turning back. I completely and utterly LOVED this book! The push and pull, the tension, the vulnerability and care. There was just so much to love and so many feelings.
The blurb for this story had me instantly intrigued and once I read it I was not disappointed. This was a sweet marriage of convenience read that had me swooning at times.
Becca was the strong and independent heroine of the story. I really loved how she was willing to do what she could to make her and her sisters' dream of a bakery come true.
Taylor was the hot hero of the story that did what he had to in order to get out of a dating app contract. I really enjoyed the way that he cared for Becca and the way you could tell how he had feelings for her.
The two main characters were perfect for each other and had so much chemistry. I really enjoyed this story.
The Marriage Arrangement is a fabulous way to start a new-to-me author's catalogue of novels.
The story of Taylor and Becca is beautifully sweet and although not the first in this particular series of novels, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
As you might expect, things that are sweet can bring their own brand of pain. So it's no surprise when misunderstandings cause pain that seems insurmountable. Never fear though, HEAs are within reach!
I will definitely be going back to read the two previously released novels in this series it was just that sweet. It easily sucked me into professional hockey life and there's nothing I love more than a team full of alpha athletes.
I absolutely loved Becca and Taylor's story. This book was perfect! It had lots of humor, it was steamy and it just kept you wanting to know what was gonna happen between these two. They were super adorable, especially when Becca finally lets her guard down around Taylor and just let him in and realizes he's a good guy. I could not get enough of them and this was probably one of my favorite books of the series. The narration between Stella Hunter and Shane East was perfect as usual. They just work so well together and play off of each other so well and it just makes the book even more enjoyable.
I really had a great time listening to Scot Hockey player Taylor Savage swoon the heck out of Becca Barnes. They happen to meet each other at a ferry ride before realizing the crazy connection that they already have. There was great chemistry between the two characters and it was nice to see characters from earlier books come back in this story.
The narration by Shane East as #ScottishShane was absolutely delicious. Stella Hunter as the strong-willed Becca felt like they were just made for each other.
Enemies to lovers, forced proximity perfection! This was was the perfect mix of sugar, spice, and everything I want from a Kim Loraine novel. I swear, Kim could go forever with this series and I’ll be best eating up each book.
Hello Hot Scot….This audiobook was just pure perfection. The magnificent duo of Stella Hunter and Shane East bring Becca and Taylor’s story to life in the best way.
I loved how strong and determined Becca was and Stella played her role beautifully. Stella’s talent with accents amazes me every time. She was perfect with the Scottish accent of Taylor’s family when they went to visit.
Taylor was determined in his own right. He really cared about Becca and wanted to make a life with her. But he was going to stick to their mutually beneficial arrangement, she would marry him to help get out of the dating app and he would help give her tue kitchen of her dreams.
But what happens when the fake becomes all too real? Grab this marriage of convenience romance now and find out. I devoured this book in a day because I just didn’t want to hit pause.
Ok. So, in a nutshell you want this book!! If you're a fan of hockey romance, a hot Scotsman, a fiesty baker, marriage of convenience trope and the dreamy voices of Stella Hunter, Shane East and JF Harding just do yourself a favor and One-click this audio!
Once again Kim Loraine pulled me in to another sweet yet still steamy romance starring some of my favorite characters from previous books. Best thing about this book is its a complete standalone that weaves in those other characters I mentioned.
Taylor is one sexy hockey player looking for a way out of a sticky situation and he knows exactly who to ask for help. Sweet and sassy baker, Becca who he's got a thing for! They strike a mutually beneficial arrangement and then sparks fly, in AND out of the kitchen.
Fair warning: You will probably want to binge all her Ryker Ranch audiobooks if you haven't already!! And after you do that skip on over to book 1 of this series to see how this all started!
*ALC Review* Who doesn't love a Scottish hockey player? Especially when he's voiced by Shane East. Pair him with a strong, independent, and sassy baker voiced by Stella Hunter, and you will fall in insta-love with Taylor and Becca! Their white hot chemistry, complete with witty banter back and forth, pulls you in immediately.
The story starts with a panicked Taylor proposing to Becca to get out of a contract forcing him to be on a dating app. We're then taken back to their meet cute followed by their most unusual and unfortunate first date. They endure several cases of bad timing and misunderstandings which ultimately brings us right back to the proposal. Then we're off on their journey to a happily ever after.
Becca is such a fierce and relatable character. From her curvy figure to her internal struggles with trust and proud independence. Taylor may have been dubbed a bad boy of hockey, but he's a big, gooey ball of fluff inside who has so much love to give,
The book is relatively low angst and high on the steamy, swoony scale. I don't know how Kim Loraine does it, but I'm so grateful for book after book of realistic characters and fabulous stories.
Meeting a hot Scot on the ferry could have been the start of something beautiful for Becca and Taylor, but after a series of bumbles on his part, she feels the whole situation is a no go. Then the charming bad boy walks back into her life with a crazy proposition - marry him for a year and he'll fund her bakery. She can't stand him, nor does she trust him, but the offer means her dream can finally come true. All she has to do is pretend and keep her heart out of it. Easy. Right?
I love the marriage of convenience trope, really all the fake relationship tropes, and the reason why is because of stories like this. All the longing, the tension, the when will they give in, and of course you just know that the fake is going to turn real in short order. Mix in snappy dialogue, two lovable characters, crazy hot chemistry, and of course one of my personal catnip - a swoony bad boy Scot with a delicious brogue. Whew! Sports, love, fake turning real - this is one of my favorites now by this author.
First off - this audiobook was so perfectly cast and with the duet narration, it felt like you were really living in these character's worlds. Shane East with a Scottish accent and Stella Hunter being her majestic self - yes please!
As for the book, it started out so incredibly, with banter that made me laugh my ass off, characters that were so wonderfully endearing, and a plot that was similar to everyone's favorite Zapata book, The Wall of Winnepeg and Me but 1000x better (I did not like that book for context), and up until about the 80% mark I was IN LOVE WITH THIS SPARKLING GEM OF A TOME. But then...sweet baby jesus...the ending...it was...well, simply, the author must have been approaching a deadline and said "fuck this shit, I'm gonna get trashed and bang out the last 20% with total disregard for all that came before cause I gotta get 'er done!"
I'm going to keep this spoiler free because if you are looking for an amazing audiobook, I would still recommend it, but here goes on why it tanked hard at the end.
1) The third act drama was set off by the MMC getting too in his head over dumb as fuck doubts that did not jive with his character at all.
2) The external drama that followed made no sense and was such a reach that I nearly threw my phone against the wall with how it's idiocy was making my brain bleed.
3) The MMC's sister's role in the drama with his father was the exact opposite of how her character would have reacted as she had been written up until that point.
4) The falling out with the FMC and MMC was resolved immediately with ZERO explanation nor a real discussion and the MMC's role in it all was so fucking stupid. So fucking stupid that I had to rewind and listen twice just to make sure I hadn't missed the part where some other motive or action was described to explain away how an author could just shit on her characters like that.
5) The ending. jesus fuck, if there ever was a book where I wanted to dip my toe into fan fic and rewrite it as it was leading up to and should have been written, it is this book. I was just a few chapters away from buying every single other book in this new to me author's catalog, but after that ending....whooo boy.... I don't know if I can take the disappointment of another book that edges you so hard for hours and then fucks off into the stratosphere, leaving you with painfully frustrated emotional blue balls.
This is Taylor and Becca's story, a hockey Scottish player and a baker. The story was sweet, the characters where fabulous, their chemistry, their interactions and how they supported each other and the secondary characters made this a great story, I however listened to the audiobook narrated by Stella Hunter and Shane East in duet with JF Harding playing Mav, and I must say this is the way you want to experience this story, Shane East speaking with a Scottish accent yeah swoon. Definitely their narration is on point, the way everything came out together you know how good they all work together to bring this story to the next level. Looking forward for their next projects.
The Marriage Arrangement By: Kim Loraine Narrated by: Stella Hunter, Shane East, J.F. Harding Series: Anything for Love, Book 3
What would you do if your nemesis offered to marry you for the kitchen you need for your business? Becca is having to make this "business" decision that may just change her life. Tyler, the Scottish hockey player on her brother-in-law's hockey team and he needs to get out of a dating app contract so he can concentrate on his game. Becca has intrigued him since they first met, and now is his chance to really get to know her. But will this arranged marriage really fix both situations? Will their attraction lead to more? Kim Loraine knows how to capture my attention and make me fall in love with her characters. This enemies to lovers story has it all. Becca is independent, but when it comes to the swoony Tyler, she finds herself at his will. Tyler is focused on his game except when it comes to Becca! These two have the chemistry and all it takes is a little push! I love that we get to see our favorite characters from the other books in the series too! It's like we are their friends too, enjoying the journey to love.
Stella Hunter, Shane East and JF Harding are our storytellers, and these narrators know how to tell this story! Hunter is fantastic! She becomes Becca, stubborn and pliable, she finds her heart and lets us feel it. East uses that swoony Scottish accent, winning not only Becca over, but all of his listeners. He understands his character and makes Tyler one we have to fall for. And Harding pops in as Maverick, giving us the voice for the character we have gotten to know and love. These three are amazing together!
I loved this beautiful, romantic, and passionate 'marriage of convenience' romance! Taylor is the sexy Scottish bad boy of hockey and Becca is a sweet Baker who doesn't believe in a happily ever after. Their first attempt at dating didn't end well no matter how charming Taylor is. But months later when He needs someone to help him out with a short term marriage, Becca is the only woman he wants to ask. He makes an offer she can't refuse and she agrees to be his wife. It is awkward at first, but the more time they spend together, the more they fall for each other, and fall hard they do. They are so wonderful together, and their passion is off the charts! Just when they begin to believe they are in it forever, secrets are revealed that could break them apart, and their hearts for good. I loved seeing how Taylor and Becca attempted to pretend to be a loving couple to family and friends as the lines blurred, and their chemistry sizzles and explodes. Taylor and Becca are both strong, passionate, and perfectly flawed and I fell hard for them, cheering for their HEA. Stella Hunter, Shane East, and J.F. Harding as Maverick, were superb in bringing this story to life. Hunter and East's performances were sensuous and seductive as they lured me into this story and held me captive from beginning to end. I love Hunter's expressive voice as she easily moves from sweet to sultry. East's accents were perfect, especially his swoony Scottish one. But he is so much more than his accent, giving an especially moving performance as Taylor. They are a perfect team, allowing me to be totally immersed in this world. There were so many sweet, funny, and heartwarming moments, not to mention their fiery passion! This book is the perfect combination of everything I crave in a story. It’s sweet, romantic, sexy, moving, and witty, all rolled into one breathtaking journey!
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a really cute, hot and sexy second chance romance between a very hot hockey player, Taylor, and Becca, the woman he meets and falls for but who he ends up messing up their romance. In all honesty I thought Taylor was a huge idiot with how he acts and treats Becca in the beginning of the story.
But then he gets this crazy idea which ends up giving himself and Becca their second chance. In all honesty I am not sure he deserved it. But he convinces her to marry him, so he doesn't end up working with this app.
The whole app thing seemed a bit crazy and out there in my opinion. The app is an issue in this story because a lot of the stumbling blocks for Becca and Taylor were related to the app. Now I have only read this story, so maybe I don't understand all the details of this app but still is seemed a bit nutty.
What I really loved was Becca and Taylor in Scotland with his family and I felt that's when we get to see the real Taylor which is when I started to crush on him. His sister was a strange character. I liked her mostly, but I also felt she was kind of mean to Becca.
What I loved about this story was hoe much Taylor feels for Becca. His heart was all about her which I adored. What I did not get was why he was such an idiot in the early part of the book and why he just gave up on her. But I did love that he learns an important lesson and how he really values Becca in the second part of this book.
Becca was an awesome character and I loved how tough she is and that she makes Taylor work for her heart. This story had some really fun moments and I loved getting to know the cast of characters in this book and watching Becca and Taylor fall for each other.
“The Marriage Arrangement” is a sweet, fun and an oh so swoony marriage of convenience romance that pulled me in with its laugh out loud moments and the absolute swoon fest that Taylor Savage is.
Taylor Savage is in need of a wife. His hockey team, the Seattle Cyclones, has an exclusive deal with a dating app, he quickly realizes that’s not for him. Becca Barnes is a baker trying to get her bakery off the ground. Taylor and Becca have had an on and off again friendship that has clear red hot chemistry. Becca agrees to be his wife for a year but neither was counting feelings raising for each other.
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved Becca and Taylor. Their banter and flirting was sweet and spicy at the same time. Taylor is the ultimate bad boy on the ice and Scottish gentleman off the ice. I love how caring and sweet he is with Becca. Becca is smart, caring, genuine and I instantly connected with her. The timeline of their story was so perfect. We get to see how they met, dated, and how some misunderstandings delayed the chemistry taking over so they can be together. Their nicknames for each other were so perfect for them and made me smile everytime they used them. The spicy scenes were so delicious and all the heartfelt moments they shared made my heart smile.
Stella Hunter and Shane East were PERFECT as Becca and Taylor. Stella brought Becca’s genuine personality to life perfectly. Stella never skips on emotions and you can feel it as she narrates it. And I’m seriously going to need more Shane East narrations with a Scottish accent. It was so good and I loved how he brought all of Taylor’s vulnerabilities to life. And I gave a happy squeal hearing J.F. Harding reprise his role as Maverick.
The Marriage Arrangement by Kim Loraine Narration by Shane East, Stella Hunter and JF Harding
I started this audiobook laughing out loud! And knew I was in for a great time. Tyler had me giggling and swooning at the same time. Kim Loraine you are brilliant!
This was like a great night in when hubby is busy and I get to watch a chick flick! It plays like a great romantic movie!
Oh and accents, swoon!
I really couldn’t wait for this book after Big Deck Energy. This series really is amazing!
Oh there’s a bit of sticky moment when the family in Scotland believe Becca made Taylor marry her for his money. And Taylor maybe should have kept the arrangement between them to himself. But they feel for one another now and want to make it true. Or does he? The big ox gets injured and right off the bat thinks Becca would be better off without him. Kim writes stories that feel so realistic and I want to be with all of the characters she creates. They become family and friends that endear themselves to me.
I think I’m addicted to narrators who take accents and bring performances caulk full of distinct voices for each character. Shane East is heart stopping as a Scottish hockey hottie that has a soft gooey inside; who has a soft heart for his granddad and his wee nephews. Becca has just the right amount of sass mixed with trepidation for falling for a hockey player when played by Stella Hunter. And then we get snippets of a cowboy when JF Harding does cameos too!
We have more books to come and one last sister to find her one and I can’t wait for more shenanigans.
When Becca meets a hot Scot on the ferry, sparks fly and the last thing she expects is to nearly kill him on their first date, but that’s exactly what happens. And things only get crazier from there. Becca is a baker struggling to afford renovations for her new bakery. Her life is work non-stop so she doesn’t have the time – or the patience – for the smooth-talking player, no matter how hot. And Taylor Savage is HOT. But it's no matter, she’s not going to go there.
Taylor isn’t one to take no for an answer, not when he can tell she doesn’t mean it. Yes, he made her mad but if she’d just give him a chance to explain, she’d realize he’s not so bad. Becca doesn’t want to hear his excuses, though. So when he asks her to marry him to get him out of an awful endorsement contract, she has no interest. The last thing her life needs is to proximity to this infuriating yet irresistible man. He softens her up by begging and sweetens the deal by paying for the bakery renovations, so she can’t say no.
Fake relationships are a favorite and this one was perfect. Becca is sweet and funny and independent and determined not to fall for hockey’s bad boy. Taylor is impossible to resist and so sweet on Becca, even before she realizes how he feels. Their story is sweet and steamy fun.
I received an ARC of The Marriage Arrangement by Kim Loraine via Booksprout.
I was in love with this story up until about 35%. At this point, there’s a break in time and you go from Taylor being, what felt like, head over heels with Becca to being completely opposite. He was arrogant and cocky at the start, sure. But he became more of a d-bag after the time skip.
It’s a little bit of whiplash from there. He wants her, he doesn’t. But maybe he does. It seems he’s trying to convince himself against it even though he was sooooo sure at the start of the book. Or at least it felt that way.
Taylor is a player, arrogant and cocky. Nothing more than you’d expect from a good looking Scot that plays professional hockey. I truly liked him at the start, he made a few interesting choices throughout the story but he definitely loves Becca.
Becca is a baker. She’s working her butt off to start her new business and it’s not working out perfectly. She doesn’t believe in love and is wary of Taylor. But when he comes to her with a proposal, she marries him so he can get out of a contract and he’ll buy her a new upgraded kitchen for her bakery, she can’t say no.
Luckily things end up the right way, as of course it’s a romance and wouldn’t be complete without a HEA. I truly enjoyed all of this with exception to the few whiplash moments. Taylor was perfect otherwise. It’s a nice touch, him being a Scot. You get the few words that allow you to unintentionally give him an accent in your head.
I look forward to reading the next book in this world and hopefully we get to see some more Taylor and Becca as side characters in
The Marriage Arrangement is the third book in the Anything for Love series by Kim Loraine, a new-to-me author. I had no trouble reading the book as a standalone and I am glad I had a chance to read it. The mention of an arranged marriage and hockey player caught my attention. Taylor Savage wanted out of his contract with the dating app and the only way he could get out of it was to get married. The only woman he would consider was Becca, the woman who had gotten away. He had fallen for her instantly, but he had messed up too many times. Now he needs a wife and she is the perfect woman. If only he can keep his hands to himself and not fall in love with her. Becca Barnes’s dream was to open a bakery with her sister but they had run into problems with the shop they had rented. All the appliances needed to be replaced and it needed to be remodeled. Taylor’s proposal of an arranged marriage between them for a year in return for him making the repairs for the bakery was too good for her to pass up. Can she keep her heart from being broken again by the hockey player? This was an entertaining book and I enjoyed watching Becca and Taylor’s slow-burn romance. The connection between Becca and Taylor was there from the beginning. Their relationship started off rocky but eventually, they were able to work out their issues. I am glad I had the opportunity to read this book and look forward to reading more from the author. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
