On her eleventh birthday, a horrific accident took the lives of Bella and Simon Moore and devastated Cody’s world. After a lengthy hospital stay, she returned to Cody Bay to live with her grandparents.
Following years of therapy, she was able to put the physical reminders of the past behind her, but she no longer celebrated her birthday. How could she when it was also the day her parents died?
Twelve years ago, Cody’s life fell apart again. But this time she was raising two children: four-year-old Aiden and two-year-old Grace. A kind woman helps her out and she returned to Nantucket.
But what happened to spiral Cody’s life into a tailspin? And why is she so angry with Christopher Stanton?
This short novella, a prequel to the author’s Nantucket romance series, introduces readers to Cody Moore, the central character in the telling of the tale. Largely designed to provide readers with the necessary backstory, it also raises a few questions and leaves readers wondering about Cody’s time in Boston. [Presumably, readers will find the answers to their questions in the other books in the series; here the story hints that Cody’s return to Nantucket is the result of a failed marriage.]
Readers are sure to find much here to interest them. Cody’s backstory leaves some intriguing questions unanswered; the enmity between Cody and Christopher begs for an explanation. This prequel introduces some interesting characters and offers readers a captivating glimpse into the life of this young woman. It also sets a high bar for the stories that follow.
29 years ago Cody Moore was is a serious car accident where she lost her parents. This accident occrred on Cody's 11th birthday. Cody was seriously injured and had to undergo extensive therapy to revover. She was raised at Cody Bay Inn by her grandparents and after a failed marriage she returned with her 2 young children where she helps her grandparents run the Inn. This is the prequil to the Nantucket Romance series and leaves you wanting to know more and what comes next. I received this book as a gift from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it
While the story seems to have a good plot, a extremely short where I was able to read through it within a half hour. It is not a book, it is a booklet. But, threw out the book you were wondering why the people are reacting the way they are because the author never explains it to you. So you go all the way through this booklet and then it tells you to get book two and you have no idea what is going on because you are confused and what is happening because parts that have not been explained.
I expect more from even a prequel than this offering delivered. It was so short that the disjointed narrative was barely more than bullet points for a storyboard. There were huge gaping holes in this background tale, unveiling more questions than facts about the characters and events of the time-line.
This prequel introduces the main characters and a little of the back story of Cody and her family. It hinted at what is coming in the books. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Highly recommend. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
So it starts off sad, grabs your interest yet re!aims behind the scenes. Slips ahead with lots of questions generated, only to stop in complete ...wow what just happened? Now we have to find the book to fill in all the puzzle pieces.
This was a great series. I enjoyed how each crisis occurs, the family was ready to jump and help resolve each issue. I encourage each of you to check out “Cody Bay Inn”.
Just TOOOO much angst for my liking. Why is every single thing so dramatic and dark? "brutally grinding her soul into dust" is how I felt reading the prequel which did nothing to spark my interest in reading the series.
These books have such deep family connections that it's hard to keep up. The fact that there are divorces, re-marriages, step children and all makes my head spin.
This is definitely a prequel to the Cody Bay Inn series. It provides good information to lead you into the series. And is very successful at getting you hooked into the story.
This is the prequel to a new series by Amy Rafferty. It gives you the backstory of the major characters. The story is unique and very engaging. As in her other series, I couldn't put it down until I finished. Looking forward to another home run by Amy Rafferty! I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
