An enriching story of two lost souls discovering an unpredictable path to healing while earning a second chance at love by bestselling author Kimberly Lewis.

Jenna Olsen knows love and loss—having spent years trying to mend the gaping wound left by an unspeakable tragedy. But while staying at a friend’s lake house for the summer, one chance encounter changes everything, and all of those painful memories come flooding back as she unexpectedly finds herself in the arms of the man who holds the key to her unanswered questions.

As a former Marine, Cole Sullivan has seen his fair share of conflict—leaving his body and spirit a little worse for wear. Scarred and damaged, both inside and out, he’s done his best to keep all his pain at a safe distance and everyone from his past at arm’s length—especially Jenna. The last thing he needs is a reminder of how he failed four years ago, but when fate intervenes and they meet again, old feelings resurface along with a tragic past that haunts them both.

As an old friendship sparks into something more, Cole battles with his feelings of guilt even as he treasures his second chance with Jenna. Can he fight his inner demons to keep her in his life, or will the chance of hurting her again be too much to risk?

Cole left everyone he loved behind four years ago. He was in a bad place and needed to be on his own. After a long period of silence he's finally back in Jenna's life. Cole always dreamed of being with Jenna, but he never had the chance. To his surprise she's single and it appears she sees him as more than just her best friend's brother and the boy she grew up with, which is more than he could have ever hoped for.

Cole left when Jenna went through a difficult time and needed him, but she understands why he had to go. She's amazed that he finally came home and is happy to have him in her life again. Will Cole be able to start over and is he back to stay this time, or will he break Jenna's heart all over again by leaving her just after she found him again?

Jenna is a sweetheart. She's been through a lot, but she's strong and manages to keep going even though life has been tough. Cole is damaged by a lot of different things. He has terrible nightmares and he's traumatized. It broke my heart to read about what happened to him. Jenna is caring and understanding and the tenderness Cole receives from her is beautiful. It's clear from the start that they are perfect for each other, they complement one another and there are plenty of sparks. The chemistry is strong and believable, because of the deep underlying connection. I loved reading about this special couple and kept hoping they would finally have their chance to find happiness.

What's Left of Me is one of those stories that immediately touched my heart. It's an easy read and the writing is pretty simple, which makes it pure and it enabled me to strongly feel the multitude of emotions Kimberly Lewis poured into her story. I read it with tears in my eyes. There's a great contrast, at night Cole is the vulnerable one and Jenna is strong for him and during the day it's the other way around. What's Left of Me has a surprising number of layers for a novella. I really loved this amazing moving story.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for honest review.**

A quick and steamy read!

Jenna is staying at a friend's lake house, temporarily, and hoping to get a bit of alone time. But when she hears someone entering the house in the middle of the night, a panicked Jenna picks up the closest thing she can to defend herself: a teapot. Unfortunately, her efforts are useless. But fortunately, the intruder isn't really an intruder, at all. He's her friends' brother.

Cole was expecting his family's lake house to be empty. So when he comes across Jenna, he is surprised and a little worried. He hasn't seen her or his family in years, after leaving to escape his tragic past. But now that he's back, he intends to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to him: both a new career and a chance with Jenna.

Their road to romance doesn't come without its obstacles, however. Cole's family may not be happy to hear that he is in town and hadn't informed them. Jenna may be attracted to Cole but they do have a history which could cause old hurts to interfere with their happily ever after. And Cole still hasn't gotten over the guilt of being unable to save someone from his past. All of these troubles, and more, will have to be worked through in order for the two of them to find peace together.

I really liked this novella. I don't say that often. I usually find novellas to be lacking in some way. This one, though, felt like a complete story. And even though it was half the length of the books I usually read, it still had character growth and development, steamy romance, and conflict with moderate resolution.

In closing...
This novella really did deliver on all sides. I am excited to see what else this author has to offer! Four suns!

This novel is truly beautiful full of so many emotions I loved every second. Kimberly has written a wonderful romantic and it covers a very touching subject pstd which was done very well you could really feel the pain coming from the pages.
Cole has been gone for four years has finally returned after leaving everything and everyone behind but he had to he was in the right place and he felt suffocated and was scared of who he was becoming. When he gets to his families lake house the last thing he suspects is to be attacked but one he hears her sweet voice he recognize who it is straight away Jenna the girl who he's always wanted for his own but never made his move and after the tragedy with his best friend and her brother which led to him leaving he never got a chance. Maybe he will get his chance? Can he overcome the guilt he holds within himself? Will he run again when things get tough?
Jenna is absolutely shocked and overwhelmed in seeing Cole again after he left she didn't think she would see him again not knowing where hes been or if he was ok it was torture. When she witness the guilt and haunted look in Coles eyes it really guts her she wish she could take it away she reassure him that hes not a bad guy that he did what he could and she would stick with him but she can see his doubt about himself and is scared he will up and go again leaving her with a broken heart. Can Jenna get him to see the good man he is?
I really loved Cole and Jenna they were great characters, to read the torment that Cole is going through is heart breaking you just want to take his pain away it really got to me emotionally. Jenna she has a great personality and when she see Cole at his worst she don't treat him differently she offers to help and to have his back its beautiful to read plus there chemistry is completely of the charts scorching hot together but will they get there happily ever after that's the question…

What’s Left of Me
Author Kimberly Lewis
5 Stars

Because Jenna’s apartment was firs damaged she is staying at a lakeside house that was owned by her friend Emma’s parents. Settling into bed she heard a noise outside and the sound of someone trying to get in the house. Creeping out the kitchen with her back to the wall she grabbed a metal teapot and raised it to hit whoever it was coming inside. Watching his shadow she enter the house she aimed the tea pot for what she was hoping was the head but got his shoulder instead. Yelling at him she said the police were on the way. Then she hears her name being called and thought she knew the voice. The voice belonged to Cole who had left town four years ago. Cole is Emma’s big brother and they all had hung out since childhood. When things settled down Cole told Jenna he would sleep in his truck that night then find somewhere else to stay but Jenna told him he was going nowhere.

Cole carried a lot of guilt since returning from the war. The guilt was he could not save one of his best friends Adam who also happened to be Jenna’s brother. Although no one else blamed him it didn’t help the way he was feeling. Before Adam passed away he made Cole promise to look after Jenna since he wouldn’t be there to do it. Mark another friend held a grudge against Cole for Adams death and never let him forget that he blamed him for the loss of their friend. Jenna asked Cole if he had told Emma he was back and he told her at this time since she was at the lake house she is the only one that knew. Cole had always had a lot of feelings for Jenna and over the next few days after spending all day and night together a relationship bloomed. One night settling in to watch a move a thunder storm passed over and they lost power. Having nothing to do they went to bed. Later Jenna woke up and heard a voice coming from the lounge when Cole got up to investigate he told Jenna it was only the movie they had been watching.

While Cole had a shower Jenna started making their breakfast when Emma came to see if she was okay after the storm,. Seeing men’s clothing she told Jenna she was happy she was moving on. But when she saw the man was her brother Cole she got angry at both Jenna and Cole. Cole told her not to be angry with Jenna. Emma told him to get dressed and meet her outside. Watching what was going on Jenna could see that Emma was crying, when they came back in Emma hugged Jenna and told her she was sorry and watched as Cole hugged Jenna around the waist giving her a kiss.

Things were going well for Jenna and Cole until his mother’s birthday party. He was starting to feel bad that everyone was glad he was home when Adam wasn’t. Later during the party he told Jenna he would meet her at the side of the house, while waiting he saw a man relieving himself in his mother’s garden. When the man turned around he noticed it was Mark, mark didn’t think twice about abusing Cole again for the death of Adam and told Cole he was going to make Jenna his wife. Anger got the better of Cole and he hit mark and then the two started fighting. Jenna trying to stop it got hit by Cole, when he released he had hit her he was devastated and left the party. Jenna found him the lake house, but he told her to stay away from him but she told him she wasn’t afraid of him and he told her she should be.

Cole told her he was leaving again and after an argument Jenna told him to leave if that’s what he was going to do and to stop putting it off. Getting in his truck he drove away leaving Jenna crying. Suddenly he slammed on his brakes and thought he had lost her once and wasn’t going to lose her again. Turning his truck around he headed back to the lake house and prayed when he got there Jenna wouldn’t tell him to go. He would spend the rest of his life showing her how much he loved her if she let him stay.

OMG! wow! Love this short story, I was sucked in right from the beginning a real page turner.

Cole upped and left everyone for 4 years after coming home from the Marine's. Cole blamed himself for the death of his best friend which is also Jenna's brother. Cole has always had feelings for Jenna but couldn't face her because of her brother Adam.

Jenna's flats was caught on fire accidently by her neighbour, so Jenna was staying at her best friends and Coles parents lake house. One night Jenna heard someone breaking in, surprised it turned out to be Cole, both shocked to see one another. Both their feelings started to rekindle.

I really enjoyed this book very emotional read, loved it till the end! great sexy hot sex scenes. I was really connected well with the characters. very well written. I very much recommend this.

What's Left of Me by Kimberly Lewis is a story about loyalty, selflessness and courage. This story has excitement, sadness and romance. This story will show you what happens when two past friends reconnect and find more then just friendship. Find out what will happen when with these two friends, will they find love?

Cole is a Marine that has come home and has not been able to face his family or friends. The darkness that he has allowed in his life has consumed him. Leaving town was the only thing that he thought he could do. It is now four years later and his past continues to haunt him. What will happen when he runs into her one day? They were friends once, will they reconnect after all this time? He needs healing will she be the healing he needs? Will she accept his past?

Jenna is a woman who has had some bad times in her past as well. She is just trying to move forward in her life. What will happen when they reconnect one day after all these years? He needs a savior will she be that for him? Will she be able to handle his past? Will she take what he is offering her of himself, what is left of him?

This is my first read by Kimberly Lewis. Kimberly lives with her husband, two children and their two Dobermans. When she is not writing she enjoys reading, horse back riding, and spending time with her family. This story is a fast page turn that will have you turning page after page. Find out if Jenna is willing to take what is left of Cole! This story is a military romance what will pull you into their world of learning to forgive and finding the courage to face the past. I highly suggest this story as I know you will love it as much as I have.

What's Left of Me by Kimberly Lewis tells the story of two friends who reunite after years apart. Jenna and Cole’s families have always been close. Jenna and Cole’s sister were best friends. Cole was best friends with Jenna’s brother. Their parents were like second parents to each other.

Then, Cole and Jenna’s brother Adam went to war as Marines. Nobody came home the same, those that were lucky enough to make it home alive. Cole came home but felt that he had to leave! He couldn’t fit right back into his old life – he was too torn by what he saw overseas.

Four years later, Cole decides to come home for his mother’s birthday party. He thought that he would just hide out for a few days until the party and surprise everyone. Instead, he got quite a shock when someone was living in their old lake house! It was Jenna and she hit him over the head with a tea kettle!

They spend a few days catching up before the party. Old feelings arise and the two spend some quality time together, though Cole has trouble opening up about the war and losing her brother. The day of the party, Cole almost backs out, except for Jenna giving him strength. He wonders if anyone will welcome him home, despite the fact that he couldn’t protect Adam.

Lewis is a wonderful storyteller. You can really feel Cole’s pain from the war. Readers will fly through this book wondering what is going to happen between Jenna and Cole. I can’t wait to read her other books!

What’s Left of Me – A Novella – Kimberly Lewis – 4 Stars
**This novella is a standalone, HEA, with mature themes and sexual situations**
I have read Kimberly Lewis’s Series “The McKades of Texas” and was familiar with her writing before going into this “blind date book”. This novella did not disappoint and held up to the standards of her writing that I am used to.
This is the story of Jenna and Cole and their quick love affair after years of growing up together and being separated by time and circumstances. Cole is a retired vet who has been traveling the country for a while and Jenna is best friends with Cole’s sister. Their connection is undeniable (although they try to deny it) and their background sets this story up for a compelling novella.
If you have a few hours and want to escape into a romantic story with complete characters, some tears, swoons, heart flutters and heroes, then this is the book for you.

What's Left of Me by Kimberly Lewis is a quick, intense read. Jenna gets a big surprise when she sees Cole again after he's been gone for years. She also realizes that she has feelings for him that go beyond friendship. Jenna doesn't understand why he left for so long but she's hoping that now that he's back he might be able to explain it.

"These new feelings I have for Cole are hardly that way, but they make me nervous—not that anything bad is going to happen, but that something more could happen. Something good. Something amazing."

Cole has some demons after serving in the military. He doesn't quite know how to deal with them but he didn't want Jenna to have to deal with that either. He carries so much guilt and darkness but being around Jenna again has helped him feel at peace.

"“You make me forget all the bad and remind me that there are still good things in this god-forsaken place.”

This book was very enjoyable for a novella and tied everything together very well.

“I can’t offer you perfection, but if you want it, you can have what’s left of me.”
Love a good ex-military read! This had me from the start. Old feelings rekindled of best friends brother, although hard for Cole to work through past guilt of tragedy and has PTSD that she helps him through. Sparks are there throughout with Cole and Jenna. She’s in the arms of the man who has always had her heart and never want to lose him again.

This novella isn't my usual style but I figured I would give it a try anyways. Unfortunately I really couldn't get into it. It wasn't bad by any means and the MC's were sweet, I just prefer a bit more grit and suspense.

What’s Left of Me is a very moving, delightful and steamy novella by Kimberly Lewis.
Cole Sullivan joined the marines and was deployed overseas. When he returns home he is shattered- haunted by what he had witnessed and endured while stationed in a war zone. He has trouble settling back into his old life, wracked with nightmares and flashbacks that terrorise his nights and haunt his days; he can’t face his family or friends- he feels like such a huge disappointment and guilty for everything that happened. Full of despair, he leaves town and hasn’t been seen for the past four years.
But now, he has decided to return to his home town, with new hope and a plan for the future. His mother has a birthday coming up and he’d like to surprise her with his arrival. So, wanting to lay low for a few days before the party and decides to stay at his parent’s lake house, as it will be vacant and secluded enough that he won’t be discovered. Arriving at the lake house late at night, he lets himself in and is immediately attacked by an unknown assailant. He manages to subdue the attacker, before he realises that he knows who it is. His sisters best friend.
Jenna Olsen has been through a lot of heartache and pain- culminating with a fire that ravaged her apartment and rendered it unlivable. With nowhere to live, her best friend offered for her to stay in the family’s lake house. Jenna had been in bed when she heard the footsteps of an intruder- she armed herself with a tea kettle and jumped him as he entered the house. She is shocked to find her best friend’s brother is the ‘intruder’. He is insanely hot, and the chemistry between them is intense. Looking at him has turned her imagination into her own private porn channel.
Cole has loved Jenna since he was seventeen years old, but never spoke of his feelings. He has never stopped thinking about her. He has no idea if she could feel the same way about him? What will she think of him if she learns of the things that torment him? Will she be forgiving of him, or will she despise him for it?
This is such a wonderfully touching story. It was heartbreaking reading what Cole went through; I had tears streaming down my face. But the author also infused a lot of humour and charm into the story as well, breaking up the intensity, with some really heart-warming moments.
The story is sexy and steamy, but also incredibly romantic. There is a lot packed into a small package, but the story felt complete and not rushed. I do think it would have made a wonderful, full length novel.
The story is a quick, easy read. It is told from a duel POV, is a standalone and has a HEA.
Ms. Lewis is a ‘new to me’ author, but after reading this entertaining novella, I will definitely be exploring more of her work!

Thank you Ms. Lewis!

Whats left of Me

Old friends, that is all we were and all we are. God help me if she really knew how I felt, how I have felt everyday since I was seventeen but was too stupid to take my chance when I had it. My feelings for Jenna have never faltered, she is my saving grace. I owe her more than I will ever be able to give her, but if she will take it, she can have what is left of Me.
Jenna and Cole have known each other for years. she is his sister's best friend and Cole has been in love with her since he was seventeen. Cole was in the Marines along with his best friend Jenna's brother and horrible things happened while he was over seas. His best friend was killed and be has felt guilty for not being able to save him. When he returned home he realized he could not face his family and friends so he chose to run to try to escape his demons. Cole is damaged by war and losing his best friend so he went from town to town trying to escape his night mares.
Jenna has realized that her boyfriend Mark was damaged by the war and things between them suffered, So she makes a clean break from him. Her neighbor had a fire and it burned half of Jenna's apartment, so she is staying at Cole's family lake house. While in bed she hears someone trying to break in, so she arms herself with a teapot and attacks him when he comes inside. She gets a good bit in but they pin her against the wall, but she squirms and tells them she has called the police. When he says my name, I am thinking I know that voice. Its Cole and then the lights come on and there he stands. The more time we spend together the more confused I become and being near him makes my insides do funny things. Things go fast between them and Cole realizes that Jenna calms the storm that rages inside him. But when the fallout comes will they survive it. Will Cole stay and fight for something good in his life or will his demons make him run again. The last time he ran he was gone for four years. I urge you to read this it is such a good book.

Oh I loved this book! What’s Left of Me is an emotional novella by Kimberly Lewis. There were some real emotional points throughout the story and I just completely loved it. I fell in love with the characters and the storyline. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last, I could feel the emotion that the author put into the book and I was captivated by it from the start. There were certainly more than a few occasions where I had to wipe away the tears, especially when Cole told Jenna that she could have what was left of him – oh my that did it!!
The story is about Cole and Jenna. Cole is a Marine who is back home after disappearing for 4 years whilst trying to deal with what happened during his time at war. He decides to go to his parent’s cabin before deciding what to do, he didn’t expect to encounter Jenna who was alone at the cabin and thought he was an intruder. Cole has always had feelings for Jenna and they soon resurface as they spend time together. She is the only one thing that keeps him alive.
I have to say it didn’t feel like a novella at all, when I finished I had to double check how many pages were in it because I felt like I had read a full length novel with the amount of story that there was. It did not feel rushed at all and I felt the characters developed really well. I loved both of the main characters in the book – for me what stood out was that during the day it was Cole that was the strong Marine looking out for Jenna whereas at night Cole showed his vulnerable side and Jenna stepped up to support him. It was pretty clear that this couple should have been together all along!
This really was a beautifully written novella and I definitely recommend it! I look forward to reading more by this author!

What's Left of Me: A Novella
By: Kimberly Lewis
5 out of 5 stars

The story What's Left of Me: A Novella by Kimberly Lewis is a military romance novella. Courage, loyalty, selflessness, all three of these made Cole a marine. Unable to face his family and friends when he returned to American soil he left town and allowed the darkness building inside him to consume him. Four years have passed and though the memories of what can’t be changed still haunt him, the thoughts of what he can haunt him more. He has always had feelings for Jenna. She is his saving grace-the reason he is alive. He doesn’t know if she will be able to forgive him, however, if she will take it, she can have what left of him.

What a powerful story. It shows the depths of despair that can happen to a soldier when they return from war and how one man fights to heal and reconnect with the one person who he has always loved. The author has really created a story that comes alive and when I finished I wished that it was longer. The characters are wonderful. Through Cole’s character, you come to feel for those who come home and are not able to cope with what has happened to themselves and have tremendous guilt on having survived. When Cole shows up Jenna at first tries so hard to deny her feelings, however, they come shining through. It doesn’t take long for them both to let their feelings take over. The story also spotlights the reaction when everyone finds out Cole has come back to town and how hard of a decision it was for him.

This story will have you laughing in some parts and then crying in others. Although short, it packs a powerful punch and I highly recommend reading it. It does have mature themes and sexual situations so it would be for those 18 years or older. It is a standalone novella told from the POV of both Cole and Jenna.

Jenna just wanted some alone time at a friend's lake house. When she hears someone breaking and entering she does what any woman would do and pick up the closest thing ready to protect herself. Fortunately the intruder isn't a bad guy or means her harm, its her friends brother.
Cole didn't know what to think when he is surprised to Jenna at his family's lake house. It was suppose to be empty so he is a little worried. After leaving to escape his tragic past he is back but didn't tell his family who he hasn't seen in years. Cole always dreamed of being with Jenna.
But like with most things the good things in life don't come easy and their romance has had a lot of obstacles. Old hurts from the past just may interfere with their happily ever after.

Jenna is strong especially for for what she has been through. She is smart, beautiful, and just wants to move past things from her past. Cole is damaged with the stuff from his past. They both need to move forward. The way the story was written had the characters chemistry believable. The banter back and forth was worth reading this book through tears. This is such a great story about old friends finding a new love together. Navigating through the past hurt Cole went through the tenderness and caring that Jenna gives him. Yeah it might be a bit awkward considering he is Jenna's best friends brother but what can you do when fate has something different in store for you. I think my favorite part about this book is how Kimberly Lewis showed how everybody is different when dealing with loss. It was a truly amazing heartwarming book. I love Kimberly Lewis even though this was my first my book by her it definitely won't be the last.

What’s Left of Me is a novella written by Kimberly Lewis.

Cole Sullivan had run away from home after returning from war. Thinking he was nothing more than a worthless, selfish killer. During war, he lost his best friend, and lost a large part of himself in the process, he blamed himself, he was meant to be covering his friend, and he let him down. After 4 years, away from home, he has returned. Walking through his parent’s summer house front door thinking he would be alone, he has the shock of his life when he is attacked by someone.

Jenna lost her brother though war, she lost her relationship with her boyfriend of nine years after he returned from war never to be the same again, and she lost her best friends brother when he ran away after war. After losing her flat in a fire she asks her best friend if she can stay with her, with a full house she allows her to stay at her parent’s summer house. She is enjoying her own company until late one night someone walks through the door unexpected.

Cole has always had feeling for Jenna, but does Jenna have feeling for Cole? Will they both be able to let go of their past? Will Cole run again? Will they live happy ever after?

Kimberly Lewis has written an emotional novella from start to finish, the characters grip you from page one. You feel all of Coles pain, and frustration about not being able to let the past go, but feel his love for Jenna and his need for her. Jenna is a strong woman who has endured a lot of heartache, but it has made her stronger, but compassionate. I did like this book, it was a shame that the book ended, think it would have made a great novel, but a happy ending. I rate this book 4 stars

Cole and Jenna’s story begins when they meet again after not seeing each other for years. The attraction is instant and palpable. Both fight the intensity of these incredible feelings, but they are only delaying the inevitable.

Distance has done nothing to lessen the intensity of their feelings. A familiarity and sense of comfort is felt between them both. Cole’s character just shined for me. He was honourable, loyal and his strength and wicked sense of humour were totally endearing. Jenna could not be any more perfect for Cole. She was understanding and determined to be everything he needed.

What’s Left of Me will leave you a little frayed around the edges, a little bumped and bruised, and a little red eyed. It will also leave you with a heart overflowing with love for Cole and Jenna. It will leave you content and with a thirst for more work from this author.

Kimberly Lewis delivers a novella that has it all and provides readers with a story packed with sadness, loss, laughter, sexy hot love scenes, and that sweet HEA. There was drama and conflict aplenty, just adding the cherry on top of a delicious masterpiece.

This is my first Kimberly Lewis book, But I can guarantee it is only the beginning for me and this author. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her work.

5 Stars for What’s Left of Me. A book which has me blissfully unaware of my surroundings while I immerse myself in the pages s a definite winner for me. I highly recommend this book. A suoer hot, super sexy read.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

3 stars

I have to say this is a very quick read. Being a fast pace book, it was really good. I liked the whole thing with Cole being gone for 4 years to come back and find Jenna at his parents lake house was nice. I really like these types of stories, the ones that got away. It's nice to see that you can have second chance to make the right choice. Cole was in the Marines and something happened to make him up and leave after he got back. He has been gone a long time and knows what he wants, and that is Jenna. Cole is a strong man, he has demons he is fighting with and he is starting to win the battle so when the unexpected surprise is at the lake house, he knows its time. Jenna is a school teacher and has had a crush on Cole for the longest time, getting out of a long term relationship about a year ago, she hasn't been seeing anyone. Circumstances brings her to the lake house where when she hears a noise and goes down to check, but not before she grabs a tea kettle. All I have to say is that it only gets better. There are a lot of unresolved issues in this book so, when they start working through everything that is when the story come to life.

This was a good book and I'm glad I got to read it. It is a very short read and I recommend this for a beach read or a lazy rainy day. It's nice to find those books that are short but good. This is the first time I read this author, but it won't be my last.

What’s Left of Me is written by author Kimberly Lewis. This is a story filled with heart ache and despair at it’s core. Cole was a Marine, he was courageous, loyal and selfless… yet he was no longer a part of that. When he returned, he couldn’t face his family, his friends, anyone. He chose to run. To run far away, looking for something, some type of redemption or salvation. Four years later, he returns home as he cannot get the memories out of his mind, the possibility of hope. Cole has had feelings for Jenna for longer than he could remember, but will she accept him and will she be able to forgive him?

Kimberly Lewis did a fine job in penning this story of a fractured soul, lost in his life and not believing his is worth more and if his supposed sins are worth forgiving and a chance at redemption, at love. We see Cole as an individual who is strong and supported his country, his family and his friends – but due to unforeseen circumstances that all fell apart and he couldn’t face what was right in front of him. At some point, his life shifts and he comes home to Jenna. Jenna is a quirky character in her own right, but she is one of those that attempts to see the good in others. She fights for what she believes in and chooses her battles well.

The energy that is written in the book between the main characters is irresistible and inspiring. Despite all obstacles there is a glimmer of light, of hope and Kimberly Lewis captures it within her book.

4 Stars ****

What’s Left of Me is a novella by Kimberly Lewis about what happens when the loss and tragedy of war become to much for a man to handle and the woman that brings him back to the land of the living.
Cole served his time with the Marines and lost so much more than he expected, but one of the last promises that he made to his best friend Adam was to watch over his sister Jenna. This is the one thing that he would never have to be asked to do because he has loved her for to many years to count. When his return home turns into more than he can handle, he hopes that Jenna will be all right without him around.
Jenna is single, dealing with her apartment catching on fire and trying to enjoy her impromptu stay at a friends family cabin when suddenly there s someone trying to get in. After arming herself with a teapot and attacking the man she realizes it is Cole, her best friends brother and the man that makes her feel things she’s never felt before.
When things between these two escalate quickly he discovers that she calms something inside of him that he thought would never settle and she discovers that the love she reads about in her books can exist. But when reality catches up with them, will he be able to stay strong for her?
This was a great book and I really wish is was longer. I am really happy with how everything turned out and I really hope we get more of these characters.

What's Left of Me by Kimberly Lewis

I definitely loved this book.  It had me in the first few pages.  The story flowed smoothly throughout the book.  It was sad at times and made me feel heartbreak for Cole when it told of how he was suffering from his time in the war overseas.

Jenna was portrayed as a strong woman who loved deeply and was very compassionate about Cole's need for help in healing.  I loved how she didn't take any crap from him towards the end even though her heart was breaking for him and because of him.

It can be hard to understand how soldiers are affected by being in a war zone and watching their fellow brothers being wounded or killed and they can't prevent it or help them. Cole was suffering deeply because of everything he had to witness over there.

It was touching how he finally got the girl he has loved since his younger days.  I love reading these types of stories and believing true love can actually happen.  I really have no negative things to say about this book because it was a great read and I read it quickly because I couldn't put it down!

There were no spots that left me wanting more information because it was all there.  It was story in which each characters was complete so I wasn't left guessing.  The epilogue made me smile because it told of their continued love and how they fought to be together.  Very good and easy read.  This is the type of book I could reread many times.  I give it 5 stars.

"What's Left of Me" by Kimberly Lewis. This tells the tale of two old friends that discover they have the sparks and chemistry that just might meant true love! Jenna and Cole have known each other forever. She's his sister's best friend and he's been in love with her for a very long time, although she doesn't have a clue. Cole is carrying around some really heavy baggage. My heart hurt for him and for the heaviness he feels in his heart. Jenna, depsite having gone through some hard times as well, seems to be doing well and looking forward to moving on and living life. She seems to be just what the doctor ordered for Cole. This is a super fast read, and because of that, I found it was a bit hard to connect with the characters. When I finally felt that connection, it was over. I would have really liked to have read more - more about their history, their inner thoughts and their current ones too. But I guess that's a testimony to the author's ability to grab the reader and involve them in the story. I found Ms. Lewis' writing style easy to read and enjoyable too. Overall, it's a sweet tale of second chances, love and faith in that love. For a really quick read over a lunch break, it's a great choice. (received copy for honest review)

Forgiveness, so easy and yet so hard….
Jenna and Cole meet up after years of silence between them. Cole is back and running into each other opened the door to all the old hurts but also the opportunity to figure out what happened and maybe, just maybe, find their way back to each other…
There was a lot of ground to cover in a short period of time which may have contributed to the superficial feel of the earlier parts to the book. I wanted to feel the pain and angst I know they felt, it was so close, but despite that, that emotional spark was just out of reach. As their story continued and more was revealed and worked through, I felt more of the connection between them… Jenna was sweet and warm, forgiving to the point of almost too much. When it all comes to a head, when another fork in the road presents itself, I waited with bated breath as that decision seemed difficult despite the road they had just traveled….
This was a quick read that offered tantalizing glimpses into the pain and joy that love can bring. With an epilogue that offered the perfect warm and fuzzy moments, the story ended on just the right note…

Great book. I loved this book it was a great story about friends and siblings. Jenna is staying at her friend Emma family cabin that belongs to Emma’s parents. Her apartment is getting repairs done due to a fire and didn’t have a place to stay so Emma told her to go there. She is loving her freedom and likes to lay out in the sun and read books all day and not worry about anything.
Cole has been at war with his friends and also lost someone close to him. He does not know what to do with himself anymore. He disappears for a while trying to find himself and something to do with his life. He finally finds out what he wants to do with his life but there is something missing. He is invited to his mom’s birthday party so he decides to go home but he is not ready to see people just yet. Cole ends up finding something that he didn’t expect when he gets to where he is going. Cole has got to learn how to fight his demons and get what he truly wants.
This book is truly amazing and the author did a great job of letting the reader see what people deal with when they come back from war. I loved the story and the characters were great. I am glad to find another new author to read and I look forward to more of her books.

What's Left of Me by Kimberly Lewis is the story of lifelong friends turning into something more. It was an enjoyable book, and kept me entertained. I would like to read other books by Lewis, as I enjoyed her writing style. The characters have authentic, likeable personalities, and there was a slight history given, without going overboard. It was a sweet story about love and second chances, and I enjoyed reading it. I give this book a 4 star review, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys love, loss and second chance stories.
Jenna and Cole grew up together, as their brothers were friends, and Cole's sister is Jenna's best friend. She has known him most of her life, but never looked at him as any other than a family friend. Cole on the other hand, has had a huge crush on Jenna for years, and has decided now is the time to try to win her over. He has been MIA for 4 years, skipping town shortly after returning from war. They each have suffered a personal loss, which Cole has taken harder than Jenna. She has moved on, and learned how to deal with the pain, where as Cole internalizes it, blames himself, and still feels a lot of hurt and rage. He has a hard time containing it, and may end up ruining his chances with Jenna, if he cant keep his feelings in check.

What's Left Of Me by Kimberly Lewis is a novella, but don't let that fool you. This story is jammed pack with so many emotions, it was easy to get lost in this story and feel as though you know the characters personally. Such a great read! 5 stars!!

Cole is a Marine who is heading back home after disappearing four years ago, he's trying to deal with everything that has happened while he was away. He needs to escape reality for a bit, so he heads up to his parents cabin, he never expected Jenna to be there. All Jenna wanted was some alone time and everything is going great, until she hears someone trying to break into the house, fortunately for her it's her friends brother. Cole has always had feelings for Jenna and when he sees her, it's as if no time has passed. All he wants to do is spend more time with her because she makes him feel things he hasn't felt in so long.

Jenna is smart, beautiful and so strong, all she wants is to start over. Cole thinks he's too damaged from the war and doesn't know what to do next. How can these two move forward? Can they move forward and leave their past behind?

This book was absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see what else Kimberly Lewis comes up with next!
