The war between Dicathen and Alacrya is over and Arthur Leywin has vanished.

In the uncertain aftermath of this decisive loss, a few familiar faces navigate peril–both political and moral–as they are now forced to make a difficult choice: accept life under Vritra rule or keep fighting despite impossible odds? As Dicathen falls, Mica Earthborn, Lilia Helstea, Emily Watsken, and Jasmine Flamesworth must each answer this question for themselves.

To get the best listening experience, Amongst the Fallen should be listened to after book eight of The Beginning After the End series.

very interesting (spoiler)

This is a very interesting pow of the others during book 8. It just shows how much they were affected after arthur was gone and how they still managed to get back up after it.

This book takes place between the events of book 8 and 9, focusing on other characters within the universe. I started reading it just so that I would be up to date with what other things are on going in the world, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I read the books because I like Arthur and his story, but I enjoyed seeing a one off different view in the world. The book is a short read and if you're into the beginning after the end series, I recommend reading this book.

Story: 4 ⭐/ 5 ⭐
Narration: 4 ⭐/ 5 ⭐
General: 4 ⭐/ 5 ⭐

"Amongst the Fallen: The Beginning After the End, Book 8.5" brings a fresh perspective by spotlighting Jasmine Flamesworth, a character we've all come to love. The narrative choice to delve into her storyline adds a new layer of intrigue to the series. Travis's narration in the audiobook particularly stands out, as he embodies Jasmine's character with a voice that feels just right, enhancing the immersive reading experience.

However, the audiobook does have its quirks, notably in the audio mixing. The volume levels between male and female voices tend to fluctuate, which might have you adjusting your volume more often than you'd like.

Jasmine herself is a highlight, with her vibrant personality adding depth and leaving readers wishing for her to have a larger role in the main storyline or perhaps her own dedicated spin-off. The book is action-packed, but for some, the abundance of fight scenes might overshadow other narrative elements.

For those deeply invested in Arthur's journey, this installment might feel like a slight deviation from the central plot. While it's a well-crafted narrative, it doesn't quite hit the mark for those eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Arthur's adventure.

It's a commendable addition to the series, especially for those drawn to Jasmine's character, though it may leave some yearning for more progression in the main storyline.

I didn’t realize this was a “.5” book - it was just too short - it was great to read about what was happening outside the relic tombs, but I was lost at a few chapters has I tried to remember who the characters where that had been reintroduced into the story, some from before the war. It was a nice stop gap though

Learning about the war from other's pov was a great experience. The only thing I can say is that The Beginning After The end is awesome.

Can't wait for the anime adaptation :)

Un tome intermédiaire qui permet de voir les répercussions de la guerre et de la fin du précédant tomes auprès de personnages secondaires.
