Two dead international arms dealers. A saucy new neighbor with secrets to hide. A missing ancient scroll with possible magical powers. Just when Harper and Hattie thought all would be quiet – their sleepy little neighborhood is turned upside down. How and why are international arms dealers turning up dead in the most unlikely of places – like the freezer in Hattie’s shop?
That’s only one of the questions that Harper and Hattie have to answer and not just because the ghosts of the dead are expecting Hattie to help them. This time, they aren’t dealing with the local police who have grown accustomed to their psychic powers. Now, they are up against an FBI agent who might just have a few tricks up his sleeve.
Toss in a new neighbor who might not be who she says she is, and Harper and Hattie must pull out every psychic trick they have if they are going to get to keep themselves and their neighbors safe from harm. Can they uncover the plot in time?
If you like an entertaining blend of cozy mystery, paranormal women's fiction, and a hint of romance, you'll love Scandal Knocks Twice. Read Book #7 in the Harper & Hattie Magical Mystery series as a standalone or part of the series. While this is a standalone mystery, the stories do build from one book to the other. Many readers enjoy reading them in order.

Scandal Knocks Twice wasn’t the first book by Stacy M. Jones that I read, but it was the first in the Harper & Hattie Magical Mystery Series that I read. Stacy is a very talented writer that writes in several genres besides the Cozy Mystery genre. Scandal Knocks Twice is a cozy mystery in that all the murders take place offstage, as does all the other violence, except for some mild violence in two scenes toward the end of the story. Still, Scandal Knocks Twice is much more than your typical cozy mystery. It has a convoluted plot and storyline that even the hard-boiled, blood and guts thriller fan can sink his or her teeth into.
Stacy M. Jones creates characters so memorable, so lifelike, that they are easy to love or to hate. Characters are so realistic that they reminded me of people that I knew in real life. I’m not a believer in the supernatural... well, maybe I shouldn’t say that I don’t believe in the supernatural, maybe I should say just that I have never experienced the supernatural, still the tale that Stacy spins in Scandal Knocks Twice, is so plausible that the temporary suspension of disbelief never became an issue for me. As for the plot of Scandal Knocks Twice, there are more twists than a desert sidewinder leaves in its wake across the desert sands. There are red herrings galore. Just when you think you have figured everything out and have solved the mystery, a new clue takes you down a new rabbit hole. Stacy keeps you glued to the edge of your seat and guessing right up to the very end. The way this story ends will blow you away just as assuredly as a stick of dynamited taped under your seat would.
After reading Scandal Knocks Twice, I have no choice but to buy, download, and read all the other books in the Harper and Hattie Magical Mystery Series.

Originally she came from New York where she ran her families major magazine with her families large empire until she was fired. More on that story and book one. Harper moved to Little Rock to live with her aunt. Her aunt is a witch and psychic who owns a little shop And does tarot readings and other stuff. The women in the family line tend to have specific abilities. Harper never thought she had any but as she’s finding out she kind of ignored them for a while but now she’s 40 and she’s starting to realize she has more abilities than she thought she did. She’s learning to use these abilities and moving on with her life a new career new in a knack for solving mysteries. Throwing a little bit of international entry action murder and mystery and another adventure begins. Read and see if Harper and her aunt Hattie and her boyfriend Jackson And their friend Sarah and detective Granger from the Little Rock Police Department can figure out what’s going on. And action packed adventure with lots of twist and turns. Check it out
What are international arms dealers doing in Little Rock?
And why are they being killed off and stored in Hattie's freezer?
Things are heating up in Little Rock. There's a new neighbour who seems to have decided that Jackson is up for grabs. There are dead bodies turning up in the most unlikely places. There's an FBI agent who seems a little bit suspect. Hattie and Harper are determined to get to the bottom of things before there's another dead body.
Jones' characters are at it again and taking us along with them for the ride. In Scandal knocks Twice, Jones had woven intriguing plots with twists and turns that take you on unexpected adventures. Another page-turner, this reads well as a standalone if you haven't caught up with the series. But you'll want to. If you're anything like me, you'll be just a little disappointed when the story ends.
[I was fortunate to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of the book from the author, with no obligation to review. All opinions expressed herein are given freely and are entirely my own.]
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story begins with Hattie having a Bokk Club meeting in her shop. As time goes by, a scream is geard and a body is discovered in the freezer. Meanwhile, Harper has gone to the airport and picked up Jackson when she receives a call from Hattie asking them to come to the shop. While the investigation is going on, it is learned that the victim is a arms dealer and the FBI is called in. A similar incident happens later and another arms dealer is killed. Hattie's ability to talk to ghosts provides them with a clue.
Harper meanwhile uses her power to see things by holding an item to eventuaaly lead to a conclusion who was responsibl.
To learn who was behind the killins, what the FBI had and how a person wholived near to Hattie came into the picture, you need to read this book.
An excellent addition to the series as the storyline continues to expand, keeping the stories fresh and interesting. Harper is still discovering new aspects of her gift, willingly testing the limits of her powers. New characters give additional dimension while their perspective makes the reader think – maybe there really is another level of communication that we “common mortals” are suppressing. But now my question is: Is Jackson really retired? As we get a peek into his trips out of town it begins to look like there is more there than he is letting on. Maybe he and Harper will team up professionally as well as personally. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Every single book Stacy M. Jones writes is like CHOCOLATE to me. I want to savor it, but at the same time devour it. Each time I start a new book of hers I think “this series is my favorite”. Then the next series is the best. It’s because they’re all so good! The Harper & Hattie series just has a special place in my book-reading heart. I can so vividly picture the characters and surroundings. I’m familiar with Little Rock so her writing just comes to life. Couple that with the intrigue and mystery and I’m 100% on board. Scandal Knocks Twice has no shortage of “who done it”. A mystery neighbor, a corpse, a missing ancient artifact - no surprise Harper & Hattie have been thrown right into the mix. Another great read!
This is a very good installment to this entertaining series! I really enjoy the use of psychic gifts in this series and the ongoing development of Harper’s skills is so interesting. The characters are unique and very well developed. The mystery is well crafted and interesting. The mixture of traditional and psychic investigative methods adds so much to the story! A little ghostly help is always interesting too!
When a body is found in the freezer at Hattie’s shop, the group start investigating the crime. As usual, ghosts give some help along the way. An FBI agent is also involved because the case relates to arms smuggling.
A strange new neighbour also creates some questions/
Hattie and Harper are intriguing investigators. Great book
Scandal Knocks Twice is another great mystery from Jones. The mystery is good. The new characters and ghosts, the little twist towards the end. And, I don’t know about anyone else, but I just love Hattie! All the characters are lovable, but Hattie is just so much fun! Looking forward to reading the next book.
It seems arm dealers are turning up dead in the most unlikely places. There will be many questions to be answered and it seems some people are not as they seem. A great tale which will keep you guessing until the end of this tale
International criminal, stolen art & murder. What have Hattie & Harper gotten themselves into this time? Awesome, well written story that keeps the reader turning the pages. Love the characters & setting. I can’t wait to see what they get into next.
Ms. Jones has made this story an intriguing & complicated mystery. I so much enjoy Ms. Jones writing skills & talent. Excellent addition to the series. I wonder what she'll write about in the next book?
