My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).
I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

More than average Hp from one of the best present authors of this kind of books. It has humor, angst and some nice twists. The heroine’s sister asks her to tell her fiancé that she doesn’t want to marry him anymore. The heroine and the hero meet in a very funny and hilarious moment where she’s dressed as little red riding hood and he’s basically sleeping aaaaannnnd they almost have sex together. I don’t want to spoil the scene but it’s worth reading. The heroine runs away immediately after telling him his marriage is off. The hero is obsessed by her and hires a PI to find her. He turns up at her home and they have passionate sex, then he spoils it all asking her to be his paid escort for six months. He actually needs a hostess (not for sex, or maybe not only) but the heroine refused categorically. He also tries to blackmail her but thank god this heroine doesn’t give up and refuses. Two months later she finds out she’s pregnant and, ridden with debts and with all the typical sickness that goes with early stages of pregnancy, she decides to go back to him and accept his proposition. The hero has been pining for her all the time and as soon as he finds out she’s pregnant he offers a temporary marriage of convenience until the baby is born. Of course we all know he’s smitten and not yet realizing it, so it’s quite hilarious when he tries to remain aloof and distant with her for the duration of their marriage. It only lasts four days. There’s one last effort on his part to distance himself from her and this too lasts for a couple of weeks, after which he goes back to her crawling. Things I liked: - the heroine wasn’t a virgin. So no manho gets a virgin. - she is quite self confident and strong, at least until she finds out she’s pregnant, afterwards she becomes softer but it’s understandable since she was pregnant and alone. - the hero was celibate after meeting her, even during the two months separation. - he is an emotionally damaged person, which is quite an explanation for his commitment phobic behavior. What I didn’t like: - some things are left unresolved. This may be due to the author’s style. She prefers inner monologues than actual dialogues that prevents the characters to clear the air about some things. The sister was never discussed. His engagement with her was never discussed. - his behavior with her was offensive and degrading. He had been ready to marry her sister, not for love but because she was from an upper class family and she was classy, while, even though he was attracted to the heroine as he was never to her sister, he proposed a debasing arrangement that was basically to make her his temporary mistress. And he didn’t want to stay married to her while he wanted with her sister (before meeting the heroine). So even if there was no love or attraction with her sister, he treated her more respectfully than the heroine. Not good. There’s a good chemistry between them and after some time he realizes that he wants the heroine and she’s his everything, so after all he’s not so bad. Thank god he never had sex with her sister, even if she was the one who asked him to wait (but he wasn’t concerned because there was not enough chemistry) I enjoyed it because unless too many Hp lately this one has a good amount of angst due to his inability to accept a relationship with her. A recommended light reading.
What a really good story. I loved almost everything about it. I was upset that he fought his love but he always wanted her from the minute he saw her, or felt her rather! Lol. He meets her in his bed. He's dead tired and she was there on a favor for her sister and fireworks just went off in the bed. And one month later those fireworks exploded. Their incredible chemistry was off the charts. I love when he found her at the cottage and she gave him her Grandmothers robe to wear, pink ruffles and all. It reminded me of a scene with Cary Grant I saw once. At least I think it was Cary Grant but it was so adorable. I laughed out loud. Just a nice safe story with lots of passion and a great epilogue. I Just loved it. He was a little hot and cold but he totally wanted her from the minute he met her. And vice versa! I loved their heat. And of course, the epilogue has babies! One of the best scenes ever was when he begged to meet his son in the doctors office, at an ultrasound. He totally bared his soul. I really really enjoyed this! Nice change of pace.
I believe this is my second read from this author and I enjoyed it. Plenty of humorous moments and sexy without being over the top. Little Red Riding Hood is the perfect fairytale for a Presents.
Yet another emotionally satisfying story from one of my favourite writers. HR always delivers fabulous romantic fiction. Her characters are believable, multi faceted and credible. This take on Red Riding Hood and the Wolf is simply delicious.
I was a little unhappy at the start that Jack was involved with the sister, but swiftly realised no emotions were involved - and that Bee was wanting to end the relationship. From that point, I was totally involved in the story of Katy and Jack.
I always end Heidi’s stories with a smile on my face and a warm feeling inside. This is so beautifully written with real humour and strong emotions throughout.
A Baby to Tame the Wolfe is Heidi Rice’s homage to Little Red Riding Hood and what a fantastic tale is told. I was completely captured from the brilliant beginning to the sweet ending and everything in between.
Jack Wolfe is like a bear with a sore tooth when his carefully laid plans fall apart. His “Red” is Katy. She makes him dream of apples and sunshine and after his investigator hunts her down to her grandmother's cabin in the woods; she resists his ridiculous offer to bail her out debt. Not even the most scorching night together can make her change her mind. But weeks later when the consequences of their night become apparent, Katy, with her hood and cape in hand ask Jack to reconsider his offer fully aware his parting words were “I don’t give second chances”.
Jack and Katy are brilliantly cast as the big bad wolf and little red riding hood. The fairy tale elements of this story are divine. Heidi Rice’s trademark humour is sprinkled thorough out. I especially loved Jack in Katy’s grandmother’s dressing gown. The adventures of the two as their love grows and drama of family entwined are spellbinding. Jack & “Red’” chemistry is sizzling and their banter brilliant.
I loved this story and would totally read it again.
Good book, I enjoyed the authors humor in story. It made for interesting h’. Even though the H was a billionaire, he seems more relatable that any of the rags to riches H’s stories that I have read recently. I am guessing the sister Bea will be book 2. Can’t wait to read.
A Baby to Tame the Wolfe is an emotionally intense story, although those emotions center more around revenge and defiance at the beginning of Katie and Jack’s romance. Jack has set his sights on marrying a woman from the upper echelons of society, both as his own entry into that world and as a requirement of the take-over he’s staging for ownership of a business that is completely revenge-motivated. His plan was in place as he was about to become engaged to Katie’s younger sister – but that fell apart when at her sister’s pleas Katie showed up at Jack’s apartment to give him the break-up “I can’t marry you” news. Both were not exactly at their best or even level-headed at that moment but sparks definitely flew between them.
Jack’s plan might have misfired, but he’s set his eyes on Katie when he knows he has the power to grant her what she most desires, funding for her company… it doesn’t hurt that the fire between them hasn’t lost its bite. He might have believed he had the upper hand, but Katie has news of her own that will set his world spinning. The cover of A Baby to Tame the Wolfe tells you what Katie’s news was.
I was easily drawn into Jack and Katie’s world. Both have major father issues, although as the winner of the nastiest father around award, well, Jack wins that one with not a single doubt. I liked this couple, they have a lot of issues to go beyond before they can get to that happy ending. There were many times I would have sat them both down for a stern conversation, but beneath the surface, behind the facade they both wore were two people who had been hurt, weren’t as trusting as they might have been, and in spite of the attraction and the falling in love will fight to the bitter end before letting each other see vulnerabilities that make them human and worthy of the love that is offered.
I enjoyed this story so much. It was far from smooth sailing for this couple, they have a lot of baggage to unload before they’ll see the value of each other. But when they do, the fight to keep the one they love is emotional, satisfying, and feels so real. If you enjoy a romance where everything is not roses and Champagne but hard, deep emotions, a storyline that will keep you flipping pages, and a couple to root for in finding their future together, then A Baby to Tame the Wolfe is your perfect match.
This was a really good book. It was very well written with great characters. The sexual chemistry between the characters was off the charts. An unexpected pregnancy brought them together, both characters had unsettling childhoods, as well as trust issues. They were able to find their way to each other. Great epilogue.
I absolutely loved this book, especially when Jack has to wear a item of clothing that doesn't fit him, I laughed out loud at that. And the chemistry between Katie and Jack was hot.
I got this book on Kindle Unlimited. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First in a series. This was a fun book to read. Crazy amazing chemistry between the main characters. Katie and Jack both had issues, but it made them more real cor me. Quick fun read 3.5 stars
Love this little novel. Jack wolf cold hard man has a one night stand with Kate. Several weeks later she lets him know she’s pregnant. Read their ups and downs as the strive to reach their happy ever after
After meeting once in his apartment, the male protagonist goes to Wales for a booty call, after they sleep together he offers the female protagonist a 6-month contract to be his mistress because he needs some blueblood on his arm, she declines... next thing she's pregnant, contract married to him for a year, receiving financial aid to expand her business, and being told by him that he doesn't want to have anything to do with the baby. I know that love springs up in unlikely situations, but the author made the male protagonist so unlikeable that I couldn't understand what it was about him that made her fall in love. His dismissiveness? His hot and cold passion? His stern control over her? His inability to trust her or tell her the truth? Or was it his prowess in bed... is that the basis of a love that will last and nurture a family?
