Whether you’re searching for affirmation that miracles still happen, or you simply love reading exciting and inspiring true stories, Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues will leave you uplifted, encouraged, and on the lookout for God’s divine handiwork in your own day-to-day life.
Heaven Sent Miracles and Rescues shares fascinating, true stories from a first responder’s view. Some are miraculous and show God’s hand, others show the heart of first responders as well as those they help.
I love true stories. Possibly why I love watching shows of first responders on television. But oftentimes television shows don’t reveal what happens to patients after the first responders leave them. But in the stories in this book, the author follows up with them.
My daughter is in the medical field, so I know the extensive education, hard work, and long hours they put in. It isn’t a glamorous job, but a crucial one. It takes a special heart to take care of those in need, and it shows in these stories.

I enjoy reading books by this author because she shares her heart and compassion for others. Each story is different yet has a theme of rescue and God’s intervention. The people she meet are in need of help and some are more urgent than others. I am amazed how the rescuers put their lives in danger to save others.
As I read the book I kept thinking that these are unsung heroes. We expect someone to come when we call 911. We don’t think of the bad weather they may have to travel in, or the daring rescues they do everyday. I liked how neighbors in one story arrived home at just the right time to see fire coming from their neighbors house.
God is always there in our time of need. He places the right people at the right time to help us. I never want to take for granted the men and women who keep calm while doing life saving actions. Each story in the book is filled with heroism and faith. One story did stand out to me. It involves an elderly man who has on file a DNR. He is on hospice and has an aide that watches over him daily. When a crisis arrived for the man, 911 was called. There was little the rescue team could do since he had orders in place but what I loved about this story was that the rescue team stayed with him til the end. They held his hand, let him know his family loved him and gave him peace as he slipped away.
Thank you to all who help those in need with compassion, courage, guidance and love. Your deduction will not go unnoticed. “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues: True Stories from a First Responder is a fascinating book filled with inspiring true accounts from the frontlines that God is still working miracles and rescuing lives. I love the author's heart for her work, passion, and love for God. This book will fill you with hope and encourage you to look for daily miracles in your life and those around you.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit but was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine.
The book was really good, the stories were suspenseful and interesting. (Especially for someone like myself already interested in medicine) But the faith content wasn't as good in this book as I remember in the others. It wasn't all bad, but there was some things that had me... well...
"... REALLY??"
That being said, I still enjoyed it thoroughly. I'll still be reading her next books to come 🙃
HEAVEN-SENT MIRACLES & RESCUES: True Stories from First Responders by Andrea Rodgers chronicles Andrea’s participation with her small town’s volunteer rescue squad. Just like her other books, this book includes real-life accounts of rescue calls their team has responded to. Her faith and her dedication to her position shine through the pages of each book. When I was young, I wanted to be a nurse, however, I took another path. But I have the greatest respect for all emergency first responders and medical professionals.
From hurricanes to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), a drug overdose, and more, I found myself unable to put this book down. I loved reading about the interactions between the rescue squad, police squad members, the fire department, and the people they are responding to provide incredible insight into what their lives are like. From this book, I learned quite a bit about hospice patients and the care rescue squads are able to give them. She also shares about being with someone whose family is unable to be there when he or she takes her final breath.
Her faith and compassion shine through the pages of all the books. While each book does stand alone, I recommend reading all of them because they are that powerful. So if you enjoy reading first-hand accounts filled with faith, prayers, and real-life situations, check out this book for yourself. I definitely recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
I’ve always been fascinated by real-life rescue stories, so when I learned about this book I knew I had to read it! Andrea Jo Rodgers is a skilled writer. She did a great job of capturing and describing the feel of a small town. I don’t very often read non-fiction, but I loved the way the author presented these true stories from her 30 years as a volunteer EMT. This book is easy to read and engaging, in fact it almost reads like a novel, but even better because all the stories are real! I am fairly well versed in medical terminology so there weren’t many terms in this book I was unfamiliar with, but the author did a wonderful job of explaining lingo a reader may not be familiar with, and I loved that she did so quickly and succinctly so the reader could easily get up to speed without being pulled out of the story. What I loved most about this book is how the reader gets to see that in the midst of all the good, bad, and ugly parts of life God is always present, and no matter the circumstances He is always working things out for the good!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Heaven-Sent Miracle & Rescues--True Stories from a First Responder by Andrea Jo Rodgers is a Christian Inspirational book. This is the second book by Andrea Jo Rodgers that I have read and also the True Stories theme really intrigued me.
Andrea Jo Rodgers has been a Volunteer EMT for over 30yrs in her small-town community. Andrea has been on the scene of so many tragic events that she thought wouldn't have a good outcome. She knows God had his hand in these Miracles she witnessed and shares the stories of the Miracles. The Miracles happen on land, in water, and in so many places.
WOW, the stories in this book are definitely AWE Inspiring. I really appreciate that Andrea shares so many stories of Miracle happening during her volunteer time as an EMT. I LOVE true-to-life stories and the stories in this book really were inspirational. Andrea's stories encouraged me to look for even the small miracles that happen to those around me or even in my own household. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys True Stories and Inspirational Stories! ENCOURAGING BOOK!
This is the second book by Andrea Jo Rodgers that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed her other book, At Heaven’s Doorstep. This book was similar in that she shared her stories from being a volunteer EMT. The stories read very similar–as a fiction novel, despite the fact that the book itself is nonfiction–and always end with Rodgers always remaining hopeful, no matter the outcome of the calls she went on.
I highly recommend reading this book or others like it by Andrea Jo Rodgers. She and her fellow volunteers saved many lives and helped many people. From going on calls for fall victims to a house fire to overdoses, their work is not only inspirational, but also shows God’s handiwork and power in each and every situation.
Even though I work in a hospital, I still often under-appreciate our medical heroes. Rodgers’ stories always remind me how important they truly are in our lives.
I had received a copy of the book as part of the Celebrate Lit Blogging Team and was required to give an honest review.
Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues: True Stories from a First Responder is another fabulous collection of true inspirational stories by Andrea Jo Rodgers. I thought they were all beautiful and so uplifting to read. They were several that brought tears to my eyes and having to keep my tissues within an arm’s length. I loved reading this book so much and wonderful reminder of God’s work.
I am giving Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues: True Stories from a First Responder five stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love to read inspiring and faith filled stories, based on true events. As always, I will be looking for books like this from Andrea Jo Rodgers in the future.
I received a paperback copy of Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues: True Stories from a First Responder from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I have read a few other books by this author that share true stories of miracles and rescues through her years as an EMT. As a nurse I enjoy reading them and seeing how God can work in the medical field.
This book was, like the others, a pleasure to read. I enjoy the way she writes and brings the tales to the forefront of my mind. It’s been years since I worked as a nurse but my healing skills have been used a lot in this thing we call life on the farm. It’s nice to get a glimpse back into the medical field by reading these books.
I hope that you are able to grab a copy of this book and enjoy it. It was a great one in my opinion.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I love, love, love these types of stories. Especially when they point us back to God. This book is one where you want to read it quickly because you don’t want to put it down; but it’s also one that you want to savor because you want to stop in between each story and really reflect on each miracle and way that God showed up in each person’s life. The author writes in such a way that I fell in love with the victims who became like family to her – even the man who loved ice cream so much, he (no I won’t spoil it for you!) This series of books is wonderful for the person who wants to grow closer to God through true stories, the person who loves and appreciates the dedication of life of a first responder or simply someone who loves a great true story.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit but was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine.
If you have ever wondered what the life of a volunteer emergency response person was like, Rodgers gives a clear picture. She relates a number of accounts of the calls she has been on, the condition of the patients, the treatment and results. I like that she frequently follows up and tells us what happened weeks or months following. Rodgers lives in a small town so she knows the people.
These are realistic accounts, some of them end with the person going to eternity. But most of them are wonderful stories of helping people in their greatest need and seeing a positive result. Reading her stories has given me a new respect for people involved in emergency response.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Heaven-Sent Miracles & Rescues is written by Andrea Jo Rodgers. I have read several of this author's books before and have always loved them. The stories that she shares will warm your hearts. The author's faith shines through each and every story. Sometimes we forget about our first responders. Some will go above and beyond every time.
Each story starts out with a bible verse. The verses are always so fitting with the story that is about to be told. The way the author writes them, you can picture yourself standing there watching everything unfold right before your eyes.
Thank you to all of our first responders for the work that you do. I know sometimes it may feel like we do not see you, but we do.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
I really enjoyed these stories. I love real life event TV and this is just it in a better form (books are always better :) ). I love the author's heart for her work and each story is original but I love the theme of God being there in everything.
The book almost reads like a story (novel) but knowing that what I was reading was something that truly happened just gave it a different feel. First Responders are amazing people and do jobs that I can't imagine and see a lot that many in life don't realize. I love how honest the book is and I just thought it was an excellent read.
4/5
Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
This is a very different book than I normally read (and I'll admit I skimmed through a couple of stories because I can't even read about a chainsaw injury and blood), but I believe that this is an important book. Andrea writes about her real-life experience as a first-responder in a small town up north.
My eyes were opened to just how much our first responders see and experience--the variety of people and problems and dangers--I had no real idea. The author herself is amazing--so many people saved and so much education and certifications earned. The writing is very factual and matter of fact, except where faith comes in.
I tip my hat to the author, but have to hurry past some of the too-real parts. Thank the Lord for people like her.
This engaging collection of twenty-four true accounts of experiences as a first responder in various crucial situations is as touching as the previous similar book I reviewed written by this author, a volunteer EMT in her small town. The stories grip your heart and hold your attention. She has a compelling way of recounting her adventures and sharing them in a way that evokes emotions and helps you feel like you’re right on the scene witnessing the trials of those in distress as well as the ways God works in and behind the scenes. I also learned medical information from the text. Reading about these actual emergency rescues and interventions will definitely captivate and inspire you. From water rescues during a flood to a man who seems to need attention more than medical aid, this new book offers a variety of tales of being called to serve the needy of the community any time of day or night. I recommend it. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
This is another book of rescues and emergency calls that the author participated in. Some of these were sad and so were funny but so sad at the same time. One such case was the man who keep calling because he wanted go to the hospital. One time it was because he just wanted ice-cream. If you want to read about rescues and how the human heart can be inspired then I recommend this book and the others by this author. I received a complementary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
Andrea Jo Rodgers’ Heaven-Sent Miracles and Rescues is an amazing collection of inspiring short stories. I’ve also enjoyed her other books in this collection of true encounters from her years as an EMT. The miracles she has witnessed through her years of volunteer service is truly incredible. I love the unique way in which the author shares these stories, partially told from the victim’s viewpoint as well as her own. This style gives the reader a little glimpse into the patient’s life, providing us a connection with these strangers. She also does an excellent job of explaining medical terms so that anyone can understand the various circumstances.
Andrea Jo Rodgers’ caring heart and years of dedicated service are such a blessing to her community and through these stories—to us. Her books offer inspiration, practical advice for emergency situations, and astounding moments of faith when she witnessed the hand of God. What a beautiful collection of books.
